Reviews:
Things just got better By: Ghosal - 23-Feb-2009 Version: 1.0.10 I have been using skyscape for a couple of months. It's fantastic as a source of medical info. Great on-call, in clinic or a ward round. I agree with other reviewers bout the 1 year subscriptions... BUT... I have noticed this morning that now they have a standard non-subscription version! Those who have purchased titles beforehand can change to the standard version! Finally iPhone users are being given a fare deal! Now I would highly recommend this!
Really good application By: Medical student UK - 28-Jan-2009 Version: 1.0.10 I think it's unfair that people are complaining about yearly subscriptions, because most software that you would use (take the BNF) for example gets updated every 6 months, therefore a subscription is hardly a problem there. For other software that is not updated as regularly, it seems a little expensive. However the 3 programmes that you get for free (Archemides was not available for me) are excellent. Usefull on ward rounds and in clinics. OCM is particularly good, as it's evidence based and whilst not as thorough as other resources, it is usefull for an overview of a disease or presentation. I don't usually write reviews, however i felt this programme has got an unfair rating. Not only is the program quick to load, and easy to use. But it also comes with 3 very useful resources for free. You don't have to buy any further software for it if you don't want to. I have found it very useful as a medical student.
Standard Versions now Available!!! By: PDA Fan - Aug 7, 2009 Version: 1.3.3 Have been a happy user of this amazing app for about 4 months now and thrilled that they have now introduced both standard and subscription version of their resources. I am pleased to note that Skyscape has acted on users feedback about standard version (own for life) of resources not being available on the iPhone. They are now offering *both* the standard and subscription version of all their resources. I am sure this will make a lot of us happy. ----------------Original Review posted on 10/07/08------------------------ FINALLY it is here!. Have been waiting for this since since AppStore went live. And has the wait been worth it? I just have one word WOW!!!.
Pharmacist By: mediarokr - Apr 14, 2009 Version: 1.0.10 I use Lexi Complete most of the times but Skyscape is extremely user friendly and graphical than Lexi. Know that skyscape as such is not a medical resource. You will have to download other "packages" that go with it. Search for skyscape in iTunes store and you will be surprised how many things show up. It has its own version of Harrison's Practice, DiPiro and Lab Manuals. There are some free resources as well that can be found under "Tools". Overall, extremely helpful app.
Essential for nursing students By: methos3838 - Mar 29, 2009 Version: 1.0.10 The free app is good, but like all free apps is sparse. I upgraded to Nursing Central with Skyscape and it's incredible. I have Davis's Drug Guide (no more lugging around the book during clinical’s). That application has everything including implications, interactions, adverse affects and much more. It also comes with lab, diagnostic, disease, nursing process considerations and Taber's. I absolutely love the program and ALL the information I needs is at my fingertips. It made and continues to make a huge difference in my studies. Now that I have it, I don't know how I managed without it. I strongly recommend upgrading the program. I have looked at various programs and think they’re the best, Skyscape that is, but there are others e.g. Unbound.
Excellent and Useful App for healthcare professionals By: Nurse Educator CA - Feb 24, 2009 Version: 1.0.10 I find the Skyscape Medical Apps are very useful and they have the largest portfolio of content available for each medical specialty, nurses and students. The iPhone apps now have a choice of Standard versions which do not expire. Yooo Hooo.. Their free Archimedes calculator has many more calculators than some of the paid products. My son has Skyscape apps on a Blackberry and found that the Skyscape app on the iPhone was much easier to get and navigate. Its probably the design of the iPhone where everything seems so much simpler..
The best By: theSikher - 24-Nov-2009 Version: 1.4.5 Skyscape has always been the number one resource for medical info on the PDA, and it is no different on the iPhone. I agree that the information should be offered on a subscription basis. Anyone working in the medical field will know that information is being updated so quickly that books tend to become out of date within a short space of time. This way we can be confident that the info we carry on our iPhones is current and relevant. And, of course, you can claim tax relief on these subscriptions as well. One of my home page apps!

Dedication to patients and medical professionals yields excellent apps By: HarvardDoc - Jan 29, 2009 Version: 1.0.10 I've been using Skyscape products since the mid-90's. Aside from being technically fantastic, I am especially happy that I can rely on this company to always have up-to-date material for my use. As a medical professional (I'm an internist), I'm amazed at just how fast the literature changes. Keeping up w/ this is half the battle. Knowing that Skyscape always has the latest, most up-to-date information is extremely important to me and my practice. I've found over the years that Skyscape offers a wide range of medical information, tools, guidelines and alerts under one streamlined, intuitive package. In fact, if you have more than one Skyscape app, they all work together with a cross-index scheme. This makes the combination more valuable than the sum of the individual parts. I have never had any issue with spending a few extra dollars on quality content. While there are applications on the iTunes store that usually go for $0.99-9.99, they create a collection of unrelated tools on my device. Also, I am always wary about free or inexpensive content which might be subtly biased due to sponsorships. In my experience, Skyscape has more content from respected authors, editors, societies and publishers than any other company in this space. To kick the tires, get their free products like rxdrugs, Outlines in Clinical Medicine or Archimedes and judge for yourself. If you like what you see, you may go for other paid products, as I have been doing for many years now. At the end of the day, my patients are better off with the information from trusted sources - information that I trust. I know that because I'm getting relatively instant information from a quality source that I'm practicing better medicine. Kudos to Sksycape for maintaining their medical professionalism and providing me with an excellent assortment of titles to use in my practice. Oh, and by the way, the apps work amazingly well on the iPhone/Touch platform.
Easy install, great application, even better portfolio of products By: nancy wong - Jan 12, 2009 Version: 1.0.8 Got a new iphone as a present. Just love it - especialy the touch interface. A friend emailed skyscape's promo mail. I went through itunes store and I downloaded it - took a little less than 10 seconds to download the app. Download of the content was also less than 2 minutes. Very impressive that it included full drug information, clinical texbook and calculator tool. I was amazed how smooth the entire experience was. Initial impression is very positive. I had previously played with a windows mobile phone (HTC, I think) but could not stand the basic phone features so never got around to doing anything clinical on it. Apple has got their act right. And skyscape perfected it for physicians like me. Jan 11/09 After nearly 3 months of use, I am happy to say that I am "very satisfied" user. As I bought few more products directly from my app, I have to say that some of the negative comments don't make any sense to me (they are talking about not having 5MCC- I have been using it and it has really served well with a couple of pts). Medalert is also great.

Great App By: vicmd - Dec 9, 2008 Version: 1.0.10 Great product. was waiting for Tarascon essentials, but this works even better than the skyscape I had on my IPAQ Windows Mobile. Easy to read. Yes you have to subscribe to yearly subscription on the paid products, but to have up to date medical information at the palm of your hand Its well worth the money...You will not be disappointed. Have not tried Lexi but I'm completely satisfied. (Purchased 5MCC in addition to free Apps).
Excellent application!! By: kspoker - Dec 1, 2008 Version: 1.0.10 Downloaded the free Skyscape app and extremely pleased with it. The medical calculator Archimedes is great, has hundreds of formulas and is free. Why pay for other limited calculator products when this is extensive and free. RxDrugs is a good basic drug info and is very well formatted with quick access to different sections and integrated dosing calculators. ePocrates also has good drug information but more difficult to navigate. Finally the Outlines in Clincal Medicine is a very good clinical resource information although the layout could be improved a little. ePocrates doesn’t have any free clinical information resource and is limited to just the drug resource. Under the STAT tab within the Skyscape application, the MedAlert has specialty specific clinical alert summaries. Overall a great free app from Skyscape
Wow! Finally it's here By: BilalNaseer - Nov 30, 2008 Version: 1.0.10 I have been waiting for Skyscape to make iPhone application. It's incredible resource and it would simply kill the already dying palm TX market (i.e. No doctor needs to carry palm anymore). Highly highly recommended for all doctors.
I'm updating my review as the first update now enables us to add all of our puchased books into this application. This will satisfy most users, like me, who were frustrated by not being able to use our purchased titles with the first version. Thanks Skyscape, we don't need to go any further for medical books on iPhone :)
Best Professional Content - Great start with Free resources By: krtz MD - Nov 25, 2008 Version: 1.0.8 Skyscape never ceases to amaze me. I have owned their applications for number of years, first on palm and then on blackberry. Always trusted the content because I can see its source. Finally succumbed to the iphone envy and bought it - the installation and operation of the app is very intuitive. This is the first time Skyscape has offered free content like drug information with pricing and clinical information (will be interesting to see how epocrates fares as they still have not come out with any other clinical title). Archimedes used to be free, but seems like this version has lots of good calculators and tools. Using one icon, you navigate through various titles using a multi-tabbed panel. I like the alerts service as well (so far i have always seen clinically relevant topics, no 'ads'). I hope they come out with the CME module soon. I am happy with the transfer of my current license (which was extended by few months, btw). I like the subscription discounts, as I always keep my content updated (have seen a few gripes about the subscription, but one must pay to get the current info, if you want to get editorially unbiased information - there is no free lunch IMO.)
iphone skyscape rn By: Januaryson - Nov 9, 2008 Version: 1.0.8 THIS WORKS GREAT!! I don't know if they fixed the problems everyone else is having because I downloaded Skyscape from itunes. Then went to skyscape.com, purchased the software I wanted, entered the serial number they gave me after purchasing and everything works great. After downloading I put my phone on airplane mode to test whether or not it required a wifi signal, and NO, it doesn't! Everything you buy is saved on the phone. Nice menus, better than on my BB pearl. The difference is when you purchase these programs for iphone it is a subscription basis, on other platforms it is not. Most programs are 1 yr or 3 yr subscription. I think if skyscape could make it a subscription basis on other PDA and smartphones they would, but not all are internet capable. So basically, It does what it advertises. The free applications are good too (though their is only 3 of them).
Ready for Prime Time - Great free apps and excellent paid apps choice By: McDoc4 - Nov 1, 2008 Version: 1.0.8 I had downloaded the free apps and were a nice start but really needed the paid references such as DrDrugs, Labs360 and 5MCC. Got these and they work great. These and other hundreds of apps are already available for purchase at Skyscape website. I never realized at first but clicking around the app found out that the 'Stat' tab provides free medical alerts that get updated daily with clinically relevant news. Really great tidbits available daily. Initially, I was not ready to give up my Palm, but Apple has sure made it easy to get and install apps, and Skyscape has done a great job porting their apps as they work very similarly on the iPhone.
Cream of the crop By: seepnezorf - Oct 29, 2008 Version: 1.0.8 Ever since I purchased my iPhone I've been waiting for Skyscape to make their applications native. Now that they have finally done it I'm as happy as can be. Not only is the interface beautiful, but it is incredibly easy to use. I was a long time Pocket PC user and I'm thrilled to see that they have carried over all of the similar features...the tabs and the linking. The applications are very easy to use and Skyscape has really established themselves as the technology alllowing us busy docs to access the information as quickly as possible. Want to find out more about a drug your patient is taking? Look it up it any one of their drug references. Is the patient taking other meds and not sure about interactions? Tap the link icon, select the drug interaction title (and again they offer several of them) and bam, the drug name and bam you are right in the relevant section. No need to flip through books or exit one application and go into another one to find what you're looking for. Skyscape has nailed this! Archimedes is a wonderful tool and it's FREE! It contains a lot of commonly used calculators that I used to have to search all over to find. MedAlerts is also great...I can select the specialty areas I'm most interested in and get these wonderfully organized snippets of information. If you've never used a Skyscape application before, I encourage you to check them out...you will not regret it!
skyscape apps are simply gr8 !!!! Worth the price. By: abcDoc - Oct 29, 2008 Version: 1.0.10 I have been skyscape use for long time and have used many of their products. Content is gr8 and i think no one can beat them in terms of quality and the customer supprt. Just installled the skyscape app and got 3 products for free. Really liked the Archimedes Medical Calulator app, Just Amazing. Thinking of buying 5MCC and many other. Was looking at the subscription prices so i m not sure, but skyscape usability, use interface and depth of contents are the best. Though its subscription base but its cheaper and it may be worth it. Subscription will keep my content updated all the time, and If i dont find it useful after a year i will cancel the subscription. Skyscape products are like buying iPod over any other mp3 player. They are simply best. Go Skyscape!!!!
Great Medical Resource! By: Andrew Schuman MD - Oct 27, 2008 Version: 1.0.8 Considering how much medical books cost these days as well how much it costs to subscribe to online services such as MD Consult - Skyscape is reasonably priced. It's great to have speedy iPhone access to a complete medical library without resorting to connecting to online resources. If you watch the tutorial on the Skyscape web site there are many shortcuts to aide in navigating from one resource to another.
