iPhone apps are just getting funner and funner (is that a real word?) My husband was looking for synth apps and stumbled on this one. The first night he stayed up late playing with it because it was so cute that it reminded him of me (apparently I am prone to making cartoon noises without realizing it). If you aren't a musician but have ever spent hours aimlessly playing around on a synth, you will love this app! Or if you just find amusement in watching a cute robot making funny noises.

This is by far the best application. It has changed my life in many ways. For example; you are waiting in line at the bank and a funny looking person(s) walk by. Magically they now have a soundtrack and mucho laughter ensues!I found this app thanks to a wikipedia article about the new Dream Theater CD "Black Clouds & Silver Linings". Apparently Jordan Rudess uses his iPhone live on stage and in the studio when performing "A Right of Passage".

A brilliant update has turned this from a hugely enjoyable toy to a fully functional instrument. Being able to save scales and use the hotkeys to change octaves means make Bebot truly expressive and simple to get nice sounds out of. It's fun to play about with but also has depth - with time and a bit of effort you could get really good at playing Bebot. This is now by far my favourite app and I can't praise it enough.

Ultra fat sounds. Makes a great lead synth and is highly expressive to play. Much more "serious" than it looks, but the robot is cute! The interface is excellent.
Some reviews say it is a toy you can't play music on - try using the grid, scale and autotune options and it behaves like a regular keyboard but with wicked modulation control. Of course to get the best out of it you do need to experiment. Try playing chords with a pulse wave and maximum distortion and you will get a phenomenal guitar sound. Play the right chords with "strokes" and it's a convincing slide steel guitar. Multitouch the theremin with distortion and delay and it becomes a demented FM radio trying to tune in. So yes, you can make it sound like wall-e and get bored in seconds but you really are missing out on one of the best portable synths around. Play it through amplified speakers or headphones and you will understand.

I don't write reviews. I just don't have the time. I normally just shop with my dollars. If a product or service is no good I won't buy it again. If it's a one-off purchase like this where I can rate it I might give it good or a bad review if it's a stand-out product one way or the other. But this app found a special place in my heart.
I'm a web designer / developer with a 2yr old son. He suddenly developed a love for all things robot so I searched iTunes apps for the word robot and downloaded half-a-dozen of them, including this one, without really knowing anything about them. Tried them all and this one blew me away. First off, I just never would have conceptualized the interface. I can imagine a variety of designs for a synth app, but none of them would be within a mile of this apps design and functionality. It's so drop dead simple and inviting. And my 2yr old *loves* it. He can make music effortlessly. He can watch the robot move and output his music. He can play with the settings (possibly his favorite part, BTW). All-in-all I think this app fairly deserves a five star rating. Kudos to Normalware.
Caveat: I don't know anything about synthesizers (or music in general). I can't speak technically to the sound it produces. Non-technically, the syntharp is my favorite preset. If you download the app, I recommend trying all of the presets out.

Ok, I sat and waited to buy this fun app. Don't wait. You won't be sorry about this purchase. This is such a fun gizmo. There are a suprising number of options to play with. The sound is great, and is fun to see what you can come up with. Check out vids on YouTube. Then buy it. You won't find anything else like it. Multitouch makes it even more fun. I can't wait to show it off. Best $2 I have spent on an app.

At first I was a bit hesitant at spending $2 on this, but decided to risk it and buy it. What a great choice on my part. There is a huge range of sounds you can make, and the "interactive robot" is really cute and its movements are determined by your music. My only problems is that it took a while to figure out what everything does (since I'm a musician but never have I used a synthesizer before) and that hopefully the DEVELOPER CAN PUT SOME INSTRUCTIONS IN TO MAKE THOSE REALLY COOL SOUNDS THEY SHOWED ON THEIR VIDEO ON THEIR WEBSITE!!!!! I still haven't figured out how to make that harp-like sound. Right now, 4 and 9/10 ths of a star! XD

OMG best app on store , I did hesitate a bit before purchasing it but I'm so glad I bought it ! This is not just a toy wat makes some random robot noise, it's a fully functioning synthisiser - for people musically retarded this app is fun but if u are a musiscian expect to consider using it in your recordings - it's that good ! I certainly am anway ;) This app come with a phat sound an has effects like delay and overdrive aswell as an option to change timbre so u can come up with somthing really unique! The controls are really intuative and easy to play ! Definatly invest in this app , you won't regret it - forget spending thousands on rolands and moogs , this is £1.19 !!!!

I love bebot robot I use it on my friends. Only minor thing that wold make it better is if u cold make it thunder on him and drag him up and into the water, which wold change it from water sounds, and the bubbles that came out wold be either blue red or light green and when u popped one it wold make the next one pop (the light green one) which wold sound like either an oink or a meow depending on how fast u pressed it before it disappeared, it would be good to include in update and more ppl would buy. Other than that it's perfect, A+++

Everybody is rating this 5 stars for a reason. If you're a musician you HAVE to have this, there are a bunch of controls that are not turned on by default that let you play tuned music like a keyboard too; the expressive sound you can get out of this will have you enthralled for literaly hours. That said, I would heartily recommend this to anybody else, the pure amusement factor to be had just making Bebot sing and make cat like mewlings is huge. From the pictures you might think this is a basic, throw-away app; rest assured it is well worth the price.

I bought this app and after about 10 minutes i had to write a review. So easy and fun to use. I know i will have fun messing around with this app for a long time. I had just bought another synthesizer app a few hours earlier and i turned it off after about 2 minutes. Bebot is just way way better. I am not even going to waste my time looking for another synthesizer app after playing with Bebot. It is super cool. I kept coming across it in the itunes store and glad i finally bought it. Too bad i bought the other boring synthesizer before getting this one.I think most people that get this app will have fun with it. You will have to be super picky or a grump to not like this app.

I have been using a much higher-powered synth app, Noise.io, for a while. Despite looking like a kids toy, Bebot has an extremely high quality (though limited) capability as a synth, comparable to some of the best presets available in Noise.io. On top of that, tying the sounds to the animated robot is a great idea and makes the whole thing really fun to use, for grownups or kids. In short, it is a blast! *********************************** New release is a huge jump forward. Presets and octave hot key improve playability dramatically. BEBOT IS NO TOY (though my 2-year old loves it). Possibly the most useful synth app out there!

This is the best iPhone synth hands down! Here's why! 1. Polyphonic! You can play up to four notes at once which lets you play chords or a bass and melody! 2. Select your own key! Finaly an app that figured out how to make it's self musical! Noise.io and cosmovox both have key selection, but they monophonic so there's really no difference between A minor and C major. Here you can play a bass line and melodies that are all in key! 3. Great sound! I just love the selection of sounds! Would be nice to add a portamento effect to give leads some glide.

This app is magically fantastical!!!! My thanks go out to the developers for being SO creative and original with the robot idea! If you like electronic noises, robots, or just want one MORE thing to show all the iPhone nay-sayers this app is for you! Let's see the stupid VZW Blueberry Thunder do THIS! Ha ha :) Awesome. (To anyone quick to correct me, I KNOW it's called the Blackberry Storm. It's a dumb phone created solely to compete with the iPhone which came over a YEAR too late, so I gave it a dumb name...that's all)

First of all.. This app is amazing in alot of Aspects, but I'm impressed by all the professional sounds you can get out of it. It has multiple touch points so you can make many simultaneous sounds.. You can't have enough fingers!! The little robot is cool.. His mouth moves to different ranges and he leans back to high notes and forward to low notes.. It's pretty darn cute.. Girls love it!! You can play around with all of the effects and come up with some amazing stuff. Try hooking it up to a sick sound system and it sounds amazing!! Get it! I'm serious...

I bought this app only because robot noises amuse me. This app does not disappoint in terms of entertainment, and the subtlety and range of notes produced is really impressive. Modulating sounds with fingertips is fun, and the developers should be credited for using the iPhone's touchscreen capabilities to its full potential! The little robot who sings the notes can only be described as UNCOMPROMISINGLY ADORABLE. Listen for these noises the next time you're at an indie venue...you'll likely hear them! Heck, this is so easy that I might cut an album myself!
