New version 1.7 released April 17th 2009 includes a Twitter song dedication feature! If you hear a great song on one of our stations, use our embedded Twitter interface to tell your friends about it and they’ll be provided a link to tune in to check it out. Also, we've added in some new connectivity code to improve reception, continuous playback and faster channel surfing. It's time to ditch your Satellite Radio subscription! With close to 1500 digital channels, including all genres of music, talk, news sports, weather and traffic - FlyCast offers the largest variety of digital broadcasts available today. FlyCast partners with the top radio broadcasters and webcasters to bring you a comprehensive collection of live radio streams, including those from AccuRadio, Entercom, DI, SKY, Radio Paradise, 977 The Music, SmoothJazz.com, 1.FM, 181.com and many others. The FlyCast native app includes features never before available in broadcast listening, including: pause live on all stations, song skipping on certain webcasts, StreamAheadTM, which allows users to continue to listen to a station even during extended periods without a connection, and Top of the HourTM, which allows latecomers to jump to the beginning of talk radio shows. Other new features include an embedded web browser, allowing users to surf the web while listening to their favorite station, background play and battery saver modes, a connection speed identifier, and the ability to play any of over 25,000 stations in the Shoutcast directory. You can also pre-set your favorite stations, search for stations that play a particular artist the most, review songs that you listened to recently, and have the ability to purchase those songs directly to your iPhone/Touch directly from iTunes. Settings allow you to launch stations in background mode, use a "battery saver" mode, and re-launch your last station when you launch the app. Background play mode allows users to perform other tasks on the device, like reading email, text messaging and playing games while their favorite station continues to play. Album cover art, artist info and song title are displayed, when available, during song playback. The FlyCast Mobile Network deploys a QoS (Quality of Service) software component to its broadcast partners and their stream hosting providers to ensure a high quality streaming experience. Access to the FlyCast Mobile Broadcast Network is completely free. What are you waiting for? Start FlyCasting now!

Reviews:
Better than AOL radio By: Sexy sheep - Sep 15, 2008 Version: 1.2 We used to use aol radio because it's got a lot stations. But after we got flycast we deleted the aol app right away. This prof has so many if not all the channels in shoutcast, which is our favorite streaming music website. The greatest part is that the connection is more stable and quality is very good. Now if only they get the Favorite function working, it would be perfect. I love this app and use it everyday. Can't believe it's free!
Amazing Application! By: Wow people? - Sep 15, 2008 Version: 1.2 This is a great application as it is right now. With minor improvements to the UI and some added features this will be a killer application. The cover art is a great feature but seems to have some trouble loading at times. If this can be improved upon to incorporate something like Apple's Cover Flow or a tracklist of all the songs on a given album the potential could be limitless. I am able to connect through 3G and WiFi. However, I noticed whenever my 3G or WiFi connection was poor the application would crash and the iPhone Springboard would appear. Even with that said this is a free application. In my opinion this is the best free application available through the App Store. I can't wait to see an update with even more features.
Awesome By: Anonanan - Sep 14, 2008 Version: 1.2 I've been waiting for a free program that had Streamcast, lets you listen to nearly any radiostation on the internet It also allows you to surf the web in the meantime, it has a battery saving feature, and you can choose whether to use 3G, Edge, or Wi-FI (which can also save some battery) Works just fine in sleep mode The sound&connection is also fantastic I haven't faced any bugs yet.. I just can't figure out how to make a favorite, and it doesnt seem to require a registration, at least for Streamcast Quality program 5 stars
Love this app By: Travelmatte - Sep 14, 2008 Version: 1.2 This is an odd one that takes some getting used to, but the way it lets me play music and still use other apps on the phone (turn OFF quick play) is unbeatable. Although I know some seem to have had problems, I've had none whatsoever. The buffering feature is great, the selection of stations is stong (I like talk and old time radio in addition to music) and the built-in browser for I'm in quick-play mode? Odd, but great.
This is the Radio App I've Been Wanting All My Life By: Dr Waggis - Dec 28, 2008 Version: 1.5 Faster than tuning your car radio. More channels than you can possibly imagine. Able to listen to your favorite stations from 1500 miles away. Is it Sirius? Is it XM? No, it's FLYCAST!!! FlyCast Mobile lets me pause live radio (like my DVR), search for stations by city, by genre, that play my favorite artists, it lets me run connection tests so I can use Streamahead, which allows me to listen to a channel even when there is no connection, has Top of the Hour, which allows me to jump back to the top of the hour, so I can keep track of the conversation on talk radio. It's just amazing, and, IT"S FREE. There is no reason for you to NOT to download this station, if radio is what you are interested in.
EXCELLENT!! It DELIVERS everything I expected from Tuner and DID NOT GET! By: Dick Wellington - Sep 14, 2008 Version: 1.2 I LOVE this app!! I can now truly listen to all my favorite SHOUTCAST streams! I've wanted an app like this from day 1 when the original iPhone came out. I can bookmark my favorites, it switches stations with ease. Also, the sound is amazing. There are no EQ settings, but its sounds really good on my earphones and also when I plug in my stereo cord or dock it. I have all my talk, music, genre's, you name it. It's like having a little winamp in my pocket!! I'M IN LOVE WITH MY IPHONE AGAIN!!! And with the 2.1 update, I get significantly more play time somehow. I listen on 3G and it lasts more than 4 hours. If you're a SHOUTCAST fan, this is the app you've been waiting for!
Holy cow By: doxavg - Sep 13, 2008 Version: 1.2 This is the best audio app yet on the iPhone. I was a huge fan of the AOL Radio app, but I'd hit spots where 3G would drop for a second or two and I'd inevitably get a pause in the music. This can buffer multiple minutes worth of audio for a nice interruption free drive home. If only I could get to mail from here without dropping audio I'd be set - not the apps fault of course, they went above and beyond by allowing you to browse from inside it.
Superior App. My NPR in my Car and Everywhere! By: phunlee - Dec 14, 2008 Version: 1.5 FlyCast has become my radio. I use it at home, and since 3G signals don't interfere with FM radio transmissions, I use it in my car to and from work with an older iPod radio transmitter! I mainly use it for NPR. So far I've found KQED from SanFran and NPR Boston. My local Public Radio does not have news all day long and this is the perfect escape from too much classical music. It has a great selection of other stations and I hope to see more soon! Also love the background playing feature for listening while using other apps.
works as advertised By: xl3ox - Dec 11, 2008 Version: 1.4 I upgraded my touch 2g OS to 2.2 a month ago. But I was skeptical to upgrade my flycast to ver 1.4 coz of the recent reviews about losing your bookmarked favorite stations, missing/depleted # of stations, instability, and wouldn't play in the background issue. Right now, I have the latest version of flycast and none of the problems describe above are happening. Most of the stations if not all are there, my favorites all came back, decently stable, and lastly it plays in the background (just make sure u go settings and choose 'on' for background play option. Again I have the iPod touch 2G with OS 2.2. I hope this helps. 5 Glowing Stars!
P.S. FlyCast + AolRadio + Pandora = Ultimate Music Experience
Great app, great music, great options, streams Accuradio By: Pickijj - Sep 21, 2009 Version: 1.7 This app is great for listening to music. It has great interface, selectin, and performance. It also offers things that Pandora and others do not offer. For example, the ability to use the iphone while listening to music. It is also the only one to work outside the states, for those of us who live somewhere else or just travel every now and then. My favorite app. I honestly do not understand the 1 star rating. If the app did not work right after updating the os, wait for it to be fixed. Don't rush your fingers on the rating.

This is the BEST FREE music play yet for the iPhone. By: Timbow Timbow - Aug 18, 2009 Version: 1.7 I just love Flycast! I can listen to the Beatles, Zepplin, and even The Grateful Dead now 24/7 without interruption. There are so many more stations which are terrific too. Some of my favorites are the 70's Classic Rock and the 70's Acoustic Rock. There's something for everyone. Just download the application and away you go. I even listen to these stations while cruIsing in my car utilizing the 3G network. Best part is that it's FREE, FREE, FREE. It's something everyone should have on their iPhone or iPod Touch.
Soljie By: Soljie - Sep 11, 2008 Version: 1.2 Works fine for me , i loved FlyTunes and this is even better a little problems here and there eg. When looking for history tells u there is an error in doing so , i'll over look that for now cause i know you guys will soon get things polished . There are complains about not taking email , what in did is after i finished putting in my info i press go on the iPhone key board instead of pressing finish on the info sheet , it took my Email Address and so far it's working great , love it .
Awesome By: mal5z - Sep 11, 2008 Version: 1.2 I've downloaded tons of applications and never been inspired to write a review, but this app is brilliant. At its core, it's a streaming audio player. Okay. There are a few of those. But add to that the ingenius multitasking features and it is really worth raving about. If you turn off the "quick play" option, it streams music in the background through Safari, allowing you simultaneous access to all the other features of your iPhone, except for web browsing on Safari (since Safari is otherwise occupied with the streaming). Okay. That's great -- really great -- but the same functionality was already possible from these same folks simply by going to the FlyTunes website. So what does this add (besides the convenience of a standalone app, rather than having to surf through the FlyTunes website)? Well, if you turn "quick play" on, you listen to the music through the FlyCast application, not through Safari. So you can't run it in the background and use other iPhone features at the same time, since apps can't run in the background. But they've built a web browser into the application that works while you're using the FlyCast music player! So if you want to do something other than surf the web while listening to streaming audio (e.g., read an ebook, write an email, or play a game), turn "quick play" off, let Safari handle the streaming, and do what you want to do while the music plays in the background. If you want to surf the web, turn "quick play" on, stay within the FlyCast Mobile application, and use the built in browser. Too cool. I only just downloaded it, so I can't vouch for whether or not it crashes, but so far so good!
Awesome, I can get my hometown station (B93.7 Greenville) from ANYWHERE! By: Tom Steele - Aug 6, 2009 Version: 1.7 This is a straighforward app that lets me listen to hundreds of radio stations across the United States. When I am away from a radio or away from my hometown, I can still listen to my favorite radio stations. My only complaint is that the signal is delayed by a couple of minutes so it is hard to win contests, but to keep up with my favorite morning show (Hawk and Tom) and my favorite stations, this is the best. Also it is great if you cannot have a radio at work. Just plug in a bluetooth headset and tune your phone to your favorite station. Free and easy to use, I can't recommend it enough.
been waiting for this By: VanHalenFanRob - Sep 11, 2008 Version: 1.2 im not sure what other apps compare to this but i was specifically waiting for this one. same as flytunes.fm you can tune in many stations from 80's, 90's to metal and reggae, you can keep a favorites list and it now has visualizations with the name of song, artist, album, and album art. the best feature is you can go into history and tag a song which will open itunes store and find that song which you can then purchase.
Great conent! By: 53269645 - Aug 4, 2009 Version: 1.7 One of my first apps and I still have it and use it! Unbelievable how much and good conent they have... A couple of stations that I don't even know how they got the rights to but awesome and you can't beat free!!! I recomens it. Chopy at times with edge depending on the area but I can only imagine that 3g will work seeamlessly... But works 98% of the time on edge... Get it and click on the ads so they can keep the app free. Thx!
Works good By: Hdmc5119 - Aug 4, 2009 Version: 1.7 I have had this app since I got my phone. I have listened at home over my wireless and used 3G while running. No problems or skipping with either-- nor have I had to re-install the program. Also I have not had a single problem with the program "disappearing". It's the only radio player I have found that plays the old time radio programs like Dragnet, Green Hornet, and The Falcon. I will keep this one.
Easy to use online radio listening By: -Gaz - 15-Sep-2008 Version: 1.2 Been looking for something that could access online radio for the iPhone and that's where I first heard about FlyTunes. Now they have created a native iPhone app that provides an even better interface and I really think this app has so much potential since theres no app like it at the moment. One thing I liked about it was the ability to access most of my favorite Shoutcast stations and best of all, its free. I hope I don't sound like a fanboi.
iphone 2.2 bugs By: Pelcarl - 22-Nov-2008 Version: 1.3 Great app, my favorite actually. A little bug since iphone 2.2, when my phone turns to idle mode (screens turned off) Flycast also turns on idle mode, means no music. If i press the round or top button to light up the screen, music is back, but switches off when screen turns off again. Also, no speaker music since iphone 2.2, i have to use earphone. Was cool to listen music by placing it on my desk at work... now... :o( a PLUS is that now we can listen Flycast while playing games or using other apps.
Easily the most used app on my iPhone By: shunchu - Oct 28, 2008 Version: 1.3 I wish Apple had allowed certain 3rd party apps to run in the background. That kind of functionality would be perfect for FlyCast! But the programmers at FlyCast figured out a way to stream radio in the background anyway! I am very pleased with the application. Even when using the app, you can still browse the web by using the built-in browser (though it's prone to crash). I also wish the background streaming feature doesn't timeout quite as much... Hopefully Apple will allow background processes in time to come! Great job. Keep it up!
