Best of 2009 Apps - Apple “One of 2009’s 20 Most Anticipated Games” - Forbes "Smule's Ocarina and Leaf Trombone lead big parade of iPhone apps" - USA Today "Brilliant, fun, and amazingly executed" - iLounge “Forget console-quality 3D games, massively multiplayer connected titles... It's all about leaf trombones." - Pocket Gamer "The World Stage will separate the Music Gods from the Wannabes" - GameZone.com "Leaf Trombone will blow you away. 10/10!" - AppCraver *********************************** Compete: Are you ready for the world stage? Test out your skills before a live panel of judges. Play: No musical talent required. Just follow the floating leaves and slide your finger. You'll master your favorite songs in no time. Play Duets: New with iPhone 3.0 Game Kit, play duets with your favorite friends. No WiFi required! Judge: Join other judges and determine who belongs on the world stage. Much better than computer-based scoring, people (like you) decide what performances deserve applause or disgrace. Watch: No courage to perform or judge? Well, join the audience first and see how others fare on the world stage. Heart your friends to show your love. Notifications: Using the new iPhone 3.0 OS, you will know whenever you are judged! See tutorials, write new music or watch cool user videos at http://lt.smule.com/. Leaf Trombone users have already created over two thousand (mostly) outstanding songs using the Leaf Trombone composer (at smule.com) all freely available for you in Leaf Trombone World Stage. Try some of Smule’s other apps: Ocarina, I Am T-Pain, Zephyr, Sonic Lighter, Sonic Vox and Sonic Boom. NOTE: Duet Mode is compatible with iPhone 3G, iPhone 3G S and iPod touch (2nd generation). We recommend using Leaf Trombone on OS 3.1 or higher.

Reviews:
Truly amazing, a diamond in the ruff! By: Apple Customer Service - Apr 22, 2009 Version: 1.0 Leaf Trombone is the best app I've used so far, and I have over $400 in apps. I am so glad it is actually complex and not just an "anyone" app. That's not to say not everyone can be great at it, I'm just saying it takes skill to learn! Judging is fun, I've heard some phenomenal players (and some bad ones!) I have no suggestions on improvements. Leave the slider alone, it's nice that you can be slightly off the note and it separates the great players from the mediocre. Maybe a feature to add would be the ability to make songs on the phone instead of the website, but that's not necessary. This app is perfect the way it is. I see no need to go past version 1.0
Wow! Just, wow!! By: - Greggz - - 24-Apr-2009 Version: 1.0.1 I went on this at around 11 last night and when I checked the time again it was nearly 3!!! This game is so addictive and fun I would class this THE #1 music game on the app store
Although it has many bugs and it crashes quite a lot, they will obviously be fixed in the updates. It topps the ocarina by miles and also, the world stage to me diddnt seem like great idea at first, but this is what makes this app so addictive. I really don't want to put it down.
One niggle tho, when I play fast songs the slur is too obvious and it sounds horrible If I play fast songs. If you made different sounding trombones or had a choice/option in the prefference pane to cut out the slurryness then this app would be perfect! Thank you smule!!!
Smules might never run out of ideas By: Ev1l_shenanagins - Apr 22, 2009 Version: 1.0 Once agian Smule has made a hit I think this one is the best though
What keeps you guys thinking of ideas? The best apps that use sound(most of the time)comes from you guys, keep it going
Oh yea how come you got to use the Apple Iphone graphic here but when Pocket God($0.99) used an Iphone graphic they had to remove it with an update am replace it with a rectangle I thought they would look out if that happens agian I guess not.
AMAZING!!!!!!! By: MadFishMatt - May 15, 2009 Version: 1.0.2 I rarely get a kick out of apps but this one has been amazing! How anyone could rate it less than 5 stars is beyond me. I'm not even a musician and I love it. Try it. It's well worth the $.99 (and more!) It even works great on the iPod Touch 2G!
***if it's "too hard" for you don't show your lack of intelligence by giving it a low rating. Some songs are challenging which is why it's worth the $. You'll get hours and hours of enjoyment out of it.
WOW!! So fun! I haven't been able to get off of it all day. By: KillashandraSingsOpera - May 5, 2009 Version: 1.0.2 A real time waster! LOL - but ... dang, some judges are just out there to be mean, I think. Interface is beautiful and works really well. Although, I dont get why some judges dont upload scores at all. I waited around 10 minutes for one, and then went back to the menu, and got a "Bailed Performance". There should be a time limit to post the scores. Great fun! I see Leaf Trombone bands in the future, lol.
Buy the app!! By: Dakingg - May 5, 2009 Version: 1.0.2 I recommend people buy, this is one of my favorite apps and i like the creativity and uniqueness u wont find with orther apps at first i was hesitant to buy but then when i playing it and started getting better it got really fun and addicting. Also a recommendation it would be cool if u could just skip to the ratings the judges give when u look at ur mail or maybe fastforward it.. But btw really fun app..
Ladies And Gentlemen The Winner Of All 2009 App Awards By: 'Ave That - 17-Apr-2009 Version: 1.0 Having never played the leaf trombone, only the recorder, I thought I'd really struggle with this one. However I invested the 59p required for this and ...... WOW. Imagine Rock Band. Imagine Guitar Hero. If you combined the two you would have Rock Band Guitar Hero. Now imagine that game without any guitars, drums, mics etc and replaced them with a trombone. A trombone made from a leaf. And that is what you have got. A truly MOMPMS - Massive Online Multi Player Music Sensation. Play classic songs that you all know, send them into the ether via your phone for others to rate / slate. Judge others. Judge and be judged. Unlock acheivements. It truly is like playing Rock Band or Guitar Hero on the Xbox or PS. Only the screen is smaller. And your playing a leaf. All of that aside, this is truly awesome and a sure fire winner of numerous awards this year. We have on our hands an app that will be regarded as a classic which sets a new benchmark for other games. The catalogue of songs will continue to expand without doubt too. An absolute must buy - the best 59p you will ever spend.
Totaly addicting...... By: fitness13 - May 1, 2009 Version: 1.0.2 This app will get u hooked on iPhone! It is soon to be one of the best apps. The only other app that comes close to this one is pocket god. I wanted to know if u could add the following songs:
•boom boom pow
•clocks
•another one bites the dust
• and a band arranged song called furioso that I play in my band at school. (I play the trombone myself so....)
If u could do that it would be great
I have told all my friends about it and they said they will give it a try and those were the songs they asked if u had.
Please update soon!!!
P.S.
In stead of having a smiley as the judge, it would be cool if u can put ur own picture! Thx
Amazing. By: susanellen.xox - Apr 30, 2009 Version: 1.0.2 I was hesistant about buying this app; but after I read the reviews, I said "Why not? It's only 99 cents!" and trust me, this is the absolute best application you can get in the app store. Well worth .99$! This is a 5-10$ app! I just bought it yesterday, and I'm addicted. I'm not very good at it yet; but I'm practicing! ^_^ The option to be a judge is so much fun! And I love how when you 'perform' on the World Stage; it's not live. It takes off a lot of pressure!
If you're reading the reviews; considering buying this -- GO BUY IT! The best .99$ you will ever spend!
One suggestion; when you practice, it would be nice to have an option of being able to playback what you just played. It would be helpful just so you can see where you made your mistakes. Thanks, Smule, for making an amazing game! :D
Very neat and fun app! By: Pjthethird - Apr 30, 2009 Version: 1.0.2 When I first bought this I was kind of sceptical of what this app would do. But now that I have had it for a few days I am proud to say that this is an amazing app! Judging, peforming, and composing are all easy to use, but hard to master. This app deserves a 100/5 star ranking.
P.S. You don't have to play what is written, add your own style to the music. I have found that on longer songs like "yesterday" if you change octaves like up or down an octive then you won't bore the crowd to tears

Another wonderful app by smule By: Barkelie - 18-Apr-2009 Version: 1.0 I have been waiting this app to arrive on the app store since it preview on the iphone software 3.0 announcment i just downloaded it and started playing with it u can perform on the world stage and also u can be the judge to judge ppl performer but u need to earn token to perform on the world stage u can earn token by becoming the judge i find that this app crashes sometime and i think that it can be slove in the next update but overall this is a fun app.
Fun little app By: morecoffeepls - Apr 30, 2009 Version: 1.0.2 Great job with the the multiplayer aspect. I loved the Ocarina -- this is a great follow up. I think the Ocarina makes a more soothing sound, but there is something whacky and fun about making music on a virtual trombone. There is definitely a learning curve to figuring out how to play, but it's indeed a fun little app. And addicting - for us at least - my husband can't stop fiddling with this app however badly he plays. Well worth the buck. I really like the icon too.
Wow a Trombone playing leaf By: jeremy619 - 27-Apr-2009 Version: 1.0.1 Really at first may be seemed as a novelty app, minutes after you've been either juding, observing or trying out new songs I guarentee you'll be attatched for a long time. The online usage of this app is great and the composition tool online allows us to play any song we want from Stand by me to How to save a life! What I recommend is an easier interface for the trombone as some songs are just impossible to perfect. Recomended for anyone who loves music, tap tap revenge or someone who just likes to judge and relax!
O.G. By: Jaroidx3 - Aug 28, 2009 Version: 1.5.1 This is a pretty amazing game / app. It trancends boundaries, promotes creativity and has limitless possibilities. I can't believe there's not more hype about this, it deserves huge amounts of recognition. User created content is the way of the future, I hope more developers catch on. The same thing that gives Little Big Planet for PS3 endless replayability also applies with this game, except here we are talking about amazing user created songs and a community of unusually friendly people. This game is worth much more than a couple bucks, so support ingenuity and buy it now. Please. For the sake of your children, and your children's children.
Sweet and timeless.. By: Voyager13b - Aug 23, 2009 Version: 1.5.1 I have had this app for quite awhile. I do not run it every day, or even every week, but it always finds a place in my iPhone routine. It is lazy simple fun at one extreme, requires seriously intense competitive spirit at the other extreme, and it's intuitive functionality never places a steep learning curve between you and the pleasure of participating as you please. This app is really a portal to a very enjoyable cyber community, rather than simply another digital iPhone rendition of a musical instrument. That's what makes the app so inviting.
Get it now!!! By: JenNjuice - Aug 9, 2009 Version: 1.5 Soooooooo unbelieveably worth the dollar, forget the fast food dollar menu and starve for a day. Only gave 4 stars because the sound of my trombone will cut out halfway through the song and incoming text messages will pop up durring playing for the world stage and mess up a good song. Fix it and it'll be 10 stars easily! Also, add a way to report abusive people performing on the world stage. I know you can report the judges, I'm talking about the person you are listening to; I came across one who held down a note. I listened for 10 minutes and it didn't quit.
Smule delivers another winner By: czgarrett - Apr 16, 2009 Version: 1.0 Smule really knows how to create a complete package. I thought Ocarina was great, and the Leaf Trombone is much better. I am really impressed with this app. They make judging fun and addictive. The world stage is set up in such a way that it makes me want to do a good job, so I have been practicing all morning on my first song. Only negative is that it occasionally hangs after asking whether you want to be a judge. It's irritating, but the app is so good I'm giving it 5 stars anyway. I wish there were more apps like this on the appstore.
