Reviews:
Sirius/XM investors/owners be advised By: MigVid - Sep 16, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 Hi, i like this app cause in my country there's no satelite footprint for Sirius/XM. However with 3G networks and this app i can take Sirius/XM on the go with my phone. Im thinking even of using an FM transmitter or Bluetooth for my car. Have you investors/owners tought of using SIM Cards for your devices??? i bet to produce a GSM based device is even cheaper that launch satellites to cover areas like latinamerica (far example) and it could potentially make you grow your market. I've only listen to 2 channels but i think is worth it if you have in mind that where i live there's no choice to this kind of service. Im definitively suscribing to the online plan.
Awesome App! By: UltimateTuner1 - Jun 30, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 This app is awesome! What gets me is all u free loaders this app was intended for us paid subscribers. If u are a paid subscriber and have good connection quality like I do there is absolutly no buffer issues it's fast and the quality is great. The graphics are great it's doesn't look cheap at all. Displays the song playing on each station before and after u go to that station, pocket tunes or the others don't do that. Overall I give it 10 stars 5 isn't enough I been waiting a long time for this.
Stop complaining!!!! By: Rsnbs - Jun 20, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 You people pay $13 a month for one radio, in one car you're being asked to pay an additional $3 for PORTABLE UNLIMITED IPOD/IPHONE AND INTERNET LISTENING! As far as not having stern on there, the app has been out for 2 weeks, give them some time to acess the situation and maybe work out a new deal so Howard becomes available at some point. Everyone stop complaining, you're not forced to subscribe if you don't like the terms of the app DELETE IT but complaining (rather unintelligently) is not going to do anything. Great app, I love it!
Premium internet charge? By: SIRIUS J - Aug 2, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 Why are people saying stupid things like "I already pay for satelite radio, why do I have to pay to listen to it on my iphone? Well, this is a subscription service, the iphone will be another subscription that you need to pay for. I have a xmp3 portable radio that I paid lifetime for. Should that mean I have lifetime on any amount of additional radios? NO! I get service on THAT radio, not other satelite, or Ipod subscriptions service!!! Stop whining, if you dont want to listen on your ipod, then stick with your other satelite radio...If you want the portability of the Ipod app, then pay the $2.99! Geez...If you can't afford $2.99 then maybe you should sell your iphone and get a prepaid phone and save a lot of money! Stop comparing Pandora to Sirius XM, there is no comparison! I might as well just listen to my collection of random mp3's. You won't hear the same content quality on there! If you like that, fine...but some people like the best, not just what is free!
Don't know why there are all the complaints By: GFMedia - Jun 20, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 Everyone complains about stern and price. There Are many who don't listen to stern, and with my current multiple radio, and xm everything plus best of sirrius, I am not paying extra to run this app. The app is free, and the subscrption is already in premimum because of the plan. You pay for customized cable, why would it be an issue to pay for decent radio without all the crap with tons of individual genres?
I do wish they would have a timeout on/off option, and fond a way to interface with the homescreen like iPod does. Also wish it had a recording feature like thier handsets, seeing as the iPhone is more than capable.
Real Review of the Actual Application By: ostman - Jun 23, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 Seeing how there are so many one star reviews by people upset about the plans offered by Sirius (No Howard) rather than the application in question, I thought I'd do the opposite. Yes, we understand that there are people that wish Sirius streamed Howard to this app. No, Sirius doesn't. I've been using the app for a few days now, and I must say I'm very impressed, particularly for an early release. I will note that I was already paying the $3 extra for the better quality internet streaming, as I listen online quite often. (More often than I listen in the car.) When loading the app, there is roughly a 14 second wait while the program loads and it verifies the login information. This takes you to one of five main screens: Categories (Pop, Rock, Dance, etc.), Channels, Favorites (user defined), Shopping and Settings. When clicking on a channel, there is a loading time of approximately 5 to 10 seconds, at which point the music starts playing. My early testing was connected to my home wifi, and I can say that I have not had even one dropout. (The program has crashed once, but not while playing music.) Sound quality is quite good, and comparable to the best of the other streaming apps. I also tested the app in my car while driving through town in an area with a reasonable connection to ATT's regular data stream. Loading time was reasonable, and again, I had no dropouts. (I will admit that my testing time off of wifi has not been extended. Obviously, I'll have more time to check in the weeks ahead.) When listening, the app shows the channel being played, the song title and artist at the top of the screen, as well as the main screen info and a volume control. A pause button is also available. If an incoming phone call occurs, the music will quickly fade and stop. My one hope for future updates is greater control of the Favorites screen layout. Users my easily add channels to a favorites screen to minimize scrolling between channels that don't interest the individual. This is certainly convenient, however there is currently no way to organize or rearrange the list. Being able to change the order of these favorites would be appreciated in a future version. For current premium streaming members, the use of the app is a no-brainer. Use it! For others, give the trial a chance and see if the premium subscription is worth the cost. In terms of the actual app and the quality of use, I'm very pleased.
Sirius XM is really a awesome app for iPhone. By: Fernando L. - Jun 25, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 I don't understand why so manny bad reviews. The app is free to try but come on, of course it can't be free to listen to over 120 channels for free. I am a xm subscriber for over 5 years and you get what you pay for. They offer the best satelite radio stations in the US for less than 3 dollars a month. There's other radio stations apps but the keep crashing all the time. I myself spent almost 30 dollars only on radios apps and I can't ever listen to a entire song without it crashes. I got Sirius. Called them. Got the service and it never crashed. The sound quality is amazing. Come on people. We can't get everything for free. If you want quality you got to pay for that. GREAT APP. Fernando
So, Let's See By: GWoodLaw - Jun 22, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 Everyone is complaining that there is no Howard Stern, but now we know it is not Sirius or Apple holding him off, but Stern himself. Saying it is a contract entanglement or "rights thing". In other words, he, Stern, is trying to get every nickel out of it he can, which is okay, for those willing to pay for it, just don't blame Sirius or Apple. Next, everyone is saying get Slacker instead, because it is free. However, if you compare the two, Sirius and Slacker, you will see Sirius music streams are ad free, to get the same ad free feed on Slacker, you have to pay $3.99 per month, vs. Sirius $2.99 per month. Seems Sirius is the better value, unless of course you want to heard song dips for ads, just like FM. Finally, others are saying get Pandora instead, because it is free. However, as with Slacker, an examination of the Sirius vs. Pandora revels that to get the same ad free music stream on Pandora you get on Sirius costs $36.00 per year, or the same as Sirius. And, with Sirius you get more than music. News, sports, talk shows, POTUS. etc. So, which is the better vale. This is not rocket science. Sirius. thanks
Greatest App for the iPhone Ever!!!! By: Alleycatgirl - Jun 21, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 People are complaining about having to pay an additional $2.99 a month to use this app if you don't already have a premium online acct. This is something you would already have to pay an additional $2.99 a month for anyway even if you didn't use this app. If you paid for an unlimited Sirius acct like I did, you received a free basic online acct, but in order to get better service you would need to upgrade to premium online for $2.99. This is not a new thing created to get people to pay more for this app. This charge was there before.
As for the reason you don't get Stern on this app, just read the frequently asked question.
Why don't certain channels appear on my iPhone / iPod Touch?
SIRIUS & XM offer all of the channels for which we have mobile performance rights.
For that reason, certain channels which may be available on your satellite radio or online radio service may not be available on a mobile device like the iPhone.
We are suppose to be reviewing this app and how well it works, not complaining about price. Don't get it if your not getting what you want out of it, but don't give it a low score when the app itself works like a DREAM!
Sirius XM is for music lovers By: Real fan of radio - Jun 22, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 I have been subscribing to Sirius for two years. In my opinion the monthly fee is a bargain. People who are complaining don't appear to understand what satellite radio provides the listener. They provide the history of music. It's as educational as it is entertaining. Now people with iPhones can try it for free for a week.
Since I just bought a new car, I will just use my iPhone and plug it into my auxilary. I don't listen to Stern so I am not bothered by his absence. Oprah and Bob Edwards are more meaningful and worth the money.
In short, I enjoy satellite radio and this app is an added conveniece I'm willing to pay for. It's a premium service.

? By: 1star? - Jul 14, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 After going over the reviews I came to the conclusion that you will have to figure out on your own after reading... I purchased the app. It runs perfectly on my iphone. I can plug the iphone into my car as well as a 6000 watt stereo with 7 powered subs at home. It sounds awesome! I pay 36.00 a YEAR for it. I can spend more than that for coffee in an average week. It is totally portable. I spend 150.00 a year for the same service in my hummer and it isn't portable. Do you think I'm happy ?
Great App By: Skeeter112375 - Jun 19, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 Not a fan of Howard Stern so it doesn't bother me that his channel isn't available, Im sure it will be eventually. Maybe people should be complaining to him as he has to grant the broadcast rights to his material via the application. Great interface and plenty of good channels. I'd like to see the corresponding channel numbers listed as I know most of my stations from their numbers vs. Names. It would be cool if it ran in the background, but it's understandable why it doesn't. Those two things changed would make it a 5 star for me!
If you have Sirius or XM, it's a great app!
To all the people complaining that Howard Stern is not available on the app, you have 2 options. Cancel your sub and go away or contact Mr Stern and ask HIM why he won't release the broadcast rights to his show on this mobile app. If he's that 'awesome' shouldn't he be able to make one phone call to Sirius and get his show listed?
I'll pay extra for no Howard! By: jondrew - Jun 18, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 Just joking. Frankly I couldn’t care less about Stern. Him not being available on here is definitely hurting the christening of this App, something Sirius XM really doesn’t need. I’ve used this for a few hours today and I definitely like it. I would give it 3 stars. I think two or three updates from now (and once Howard’s ransom is paid), this will be a great addition for existing Sirius/XM subscribers. I seriously doubt it will substantially increase the number of subscribers or stem the hemorrhaging of cash on Satellite Radio though.
Things I like:
Far superior to any portable Satellite radio since you can use it almost anywhere
Works over Edge network (though hopefully my 3Gs phone shows up tomorrow)
Decent sound
Fairly decent selection of Sirius XM channels (with some notable exceptions (Stern, NASCAR etc)
Good navigation
Things I don’t like:
Missing content (see above)
Single threaded app, i.e. can’t use other apps while continuing to listen to Satellite (maybe a 1st gen phone issue?)
Appears to be a real battery drainer. Definitely need to keep a power cord or a Tune Juice nearby.
No Howard, so what? By: RBrereton - Jun 19, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 I guess the other reviewers are mostly upset about missing shock jocks. Me? I like some good music and some good talk radio. The app works just fine. Easy set up. Reception is a helluva lot better than on my car radio which drops signals constantly, not to mention the difficulty finding a free fm station to transmit the signal to (my car doesn't allow me to get a built in). So, just get it. It's fine. It's FREE.
Great App By: SkippyMcTippet - Jul 7, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 This app is for subscribers with premium accounts. With that said, I think you would be hard pressed to find a truly negative review from a premium account holder. This app does exactly what I expected it to, that is, it gives you access to the channels available via Sirius' Internet radio. If you want to bash the Sirius service, I'm sure there is a place for that, but the app store is not that place. The app runs great on my 3GS, and that is all that I expect from a FREE app.
To all of the idiot reviewers out there... By: LOLbot - Jun 30, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 This application is amazing! Yall are worried about some Howard Stern BS SO THE F*** WHAT? For one I have never heard more people complain about a FREE application in my life. Second of all most of you own iPhones. We pay a lot of money out the door every month to carry these damn things and YES...WE CAN AFFORD A SILLY 3/mo CHARGE TO RUN THIS ON OUR PHONE. Get Real. I pay 125 a month for service and that is INCLUDING a 23% corporate discount! $3 ain't Jack to Me. GET REAL! This app is awesome, full of epic win and pwn.
A great app By: davegrossman - Jun 18, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 I'm not a huge fan of radio/satellite radio, but I could listen to the 90's channel all day every day. The sound quality is great, channels load as quickly as they do on the actual radios, the songs are updated quickly, and as opposed to the real devices, you can flip through the channels and see what's playing without switching to them at all. I'm pretty happy with this. I don't think howard stern is on it for some reason, but.. personally i couldn't care less.
For me $3 is worth it By: Michael Waldron - Jul 13, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 I have Sirius in both of my cars, and I listen to music via Pulsar on my Mac (Internet streaming) all the time. So I already pay the $3 premium anyway and now I get it on my iPhone. I could care less about Howard, so I love it. Sirius is great. It ain't cheap to keep 100s of channels of programming online, maintain 3 satellites and keep things reliable... I don't know what everyone is bitching about 3 bucks.
Pretty Good, but... By: SlamCheese - Jun 25, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 Being an Opie and Anthony (and lil Jimmy Norton) fan I jumped at this app. I hesitated with Satelite Radio beeause I wasnt so crazy about getting more hardware to stuff in my apartment and car. I own an iPhone 3G with the 3.0 update installed. The app looks really great and well worth the $13 a month. The quality of the streeming sound is pretty good most of the time. I found that while i'm driving the radio cuts out for a brief moment and resumes at odd intervals. From time to time the quality of the transmission will lose Kilobites per second from 128 down to 64 and an otherwise crisp broadcast will sound like you just got out of the pool and there's residual water in your ear canal. These drawback, though annoying, havnt made me lose my mind yet so i'm going to stick with this app. I hope these bugs will get fixed in upcoming updates. I highly recommend channels: The Virus, Bone Yard, Liquid Metal for the metal fans and Alt Nation as a guilty pleasure.
Opie & Anthony on The Virus! By: MikeUT - Jun 18, 2009 Version: 1.2.4 I previously used Pocket Tunes to listen to XM at work, but this app is much better. Higher sound quality than Pocket Tunes, artist/song title listings on the channel line up, great music selection, quick connection to streams, great user interface! I'm not a Howard fan, his show is awful. Also, everyone should quit complaining about the monthly price. WTF, can you people not afford to pay a few bucks a month!?!
