Fantastic, worth the premium subscription  rating of Spotify
By: teggsie - 10-Oct-2009
Version: 0.3.20
Great app works well, apple don't let apps run in the background so if you use anything else then your music stops but will resume from where you left off when you go back into the app. Streams well on 3G despite being on o2 and the offline mode is fantastic. Apple could easily do the same app and build it into iTunes, if they were to do this I'm sure they would charge more. Please dont give this 1 star due to the price of the subscription, this is a review so if you haven't paid for the subscription then you couldn't have had a chance to use the app so how can you review it. And anyone comparing this app to illegal downloading where music is "free" well it isn't "free" your breaking the law. Try the app for a month it's the same cost as an album your not tied in and I'm sure you'll love it and remember you also get 320kbps quality streaming with no ads on your computer as well.

Been anticipating this app for quite sometime now and when i searched for it and saw it actually there i went ecstatic! The offline mode works like magic!! You can download the songs before you go to bed (which on a wifi network takes seconds) and listen to them offline on the train the next day and with access to all of the music that is available on itunes + pre-releases how can you go wrong! The people who rate this a one only do so cos they cant afford the premium. Nothing in this world comes for free guys! This truly demonstrates the power of the iphone device and its OS, the future is now people! Now watch everyone buy an iphone because of this ;)

REPLACED ITUNES ON MY IPHONE/COMPUTER!!!  rating of Spotify

£10 a months gives you access to massive library of music which equals itunes in soudn quality. Its all done over the cloud so no need to connect ipod to the PC. Stops silly mistakes like deleting libraries of music you bought. I already prefer it to itunes as its simple, a proper music lovers tool. £10 a months is great i think, i can listen to whatever i want whenever i want, i've saved 8GIGS onto my iphone and use that and change albums when i want or listen to them over 3G. i deffo think this is the future, i hope itunes offers something similar, strornig your music on your own PC is so last season, lol, this is like a tv channel, you pay the fee and you watch/listen to what you want. SUPERB! my only concern is 3g in the UK is patchy but i generally just save the playlists on the phone.
1 Example:
I just copied ever rolling stones album onto my ipod along with Neil Young, even ones i that are hard to get and some bootlegs. You can't beat that!

Of course it's going to be premium service only. Do you really think Apple are going to approve an application which gives you pretty much all music for free. Why would you ever buy music off the iTunes store again. Come on people use you heads. It's still a great sevice which i have recently discovered and use often on my laptop. It's great to listen to an album before buying it to make sure you like it. I will probably end up getting the premium service very soon.

Buy it!  rating of Spotify

Pay the £10 and quit complainingAnyone who rates this app 1 star because they're too tight to pay is a clown. Less than the price of one cd a month and access to millions of tracks with more being added all the time. Brilliant value for money. The app itself could have better search functions and a genre option would be nice but I'm sure they'll be available in future updates. Anyone who enjoys listening to music on the go will find this app indispensable.

Stop ya moaning!  rating of Spotify

All the reviews claiming that they should have free music from this app are living in cloud cuckoo land. If you feel you cannot afford a tenner a month...delete the app and get back to your torrent sites. For £10 a month this is a fantastic app, especially for the offline playlists. Stop and think about it for a moment, unlimited music for the price of one cd a month, advert free. Available for playing on your Ipod/Iphone or pc/mac. If its not for you, fair enough delete the app and get on with your ipod playlists, but don't underate it just because you are not getting something for nothing.

Anyone giving this app a bad review is an idiot. It says you have to have a premium account at the top of the description! All the fools that are giving this app a rating of under 3 stars are ruining the apps reputation. This app is brilliant! Not one bad thing about it. Works perfect! It would be amazing if you could listen to music when you have exited the application to do something else. Brilliant app! It's like renting music. Great idea.

A free app for the premium users. Giving the privilage of portable listening.  rating of Spotify
By: LoveJimbo - 20-Sep-2009
Version: 0.3.19
Why on earth are people even rating the app if they haven't been able to use it...? It's a free app that is to privilage their premium subscribers, it never claims to be free to use full stop! It's a shame to see the attitude to the service shown by the mass majority - if you don't want to pay for your music then get back to pirating, watch the laws get stricter and stricter as the music industry is starved out and wait for your Internet provider to be forced to hand your details to the authorities in the near future - and if you pay for your music then be a bit open minded and check out this alternate means of delivery for portable use.

Enough already  rating of Spotify

Specifically: Mmsman's comments. Put simply, it states clearly on the advert screen in AppStore that it requires a premium account. The app is also free. Given that the review process is there to provide feedback to other users as to how well the app meets the criteria defined for it, it is ridiculous to slag off an app which is not pretending to be anything other than what it is.Would you slag off a car because you have to pay to fill it with petrol every week?Did you really expect iTunes to let an ad supported free version onto the iPhone?Do you really expect record companies who invest huge amounts of money in music to charge someone less than £10 a month to own an unlimited amount of their content?Do you really think that slagging this app will make the blindest bit of difference? The reviews are polarized. You either like the idea and pay or you walk away.Don't pretend you're part of a revolution, grow up and pay up

So I won't get into the whole subscription argument. Just know that it's a bargain at £10 per month.Rusoil, spot on mate.A couple of things: - would be nice to be able to create a playlist from an album. I.e. Search for an album, then save it as a playlist. Rather than creating a new playlist, then searching for the album to add it. - obviously being able to run the app in the background would be perfection. But until Jobbo give us the go ahead well just have to wait. - to use this app in the car I've used my fm transmitter and it works perfect (albeit in offline mode) All in all, wonderful. An app well worthy of a position on my main static app bar.

The future of music  rating of Spotify
By: Sundazed - 20-Sep-2009
Version: 0.3.19
A lot of people seem to be surprised that you have to have a premium subscription to make this work. I don't understand; do they expect all the music in the world for free? There's no Beatles, Floyd, Led Zep, AC/DC, Zappa or Metallica and not much Dylan but these guys need to see the light: this is the future, and it works simply and brilliantly. "You better start streamin' or you'll sink like a stone, for the times they are a-changing" as someone cleverly parodied on a blog somewhere. Just about everyone else is here: pop, rock, classical, jazz etc. etc.Just get it. You can just keep the free version running on your computer if you're not convinced. The most you have to lose is one month's subs at £9.99. It's cheaper than buying CDs and downloading. Only the pirates aren't going to like it.

I don't quite understand why other people are complaining about the monthly subscription. Now come on guys, think about it. It's about the same price as a chart CD album every month, yet instead of access to say ten songs, you've access to a countless library of songs from thousands of artists. Some people simply expect too much for too little. I'm not exactly rich myself but even I think this is outstanding value.

Genius app best out there  rating of Spotify

I have yet to uderstand y so many idiots rate this so poorly, £10 a month is the cost of 1 cd however with this u have access to so much more then an hour of music I have several million tracks ! If u love music it is a must have, free from iTunes much better value and u can cache songs on your phone for as long as u have a sub so it is there where u want it, also u can be on the move and play that song u randomly started craving. Although apple imposed a few minor limitations which by certian ppl r over come. Such as only steaming on the go not d/ling and does not support background mode thanks to apple. Thou on jailbroken phones the full potential of this handy app is increased greatly. If u had the money to buy an iphone u hav more then enough for this app now quit your whining and get it!!!!

Great app, shame about some iPhone limitations  rating of Spotify
By: Luke Redpath - 08-Sep-2009

First of all, I'm shocked by the number of 1* reviews on here from people who clearly can't read. It says quite clearly (and they have always said this would be the case) that a premium sub is required.
If you can't afford £10 pm or see the value, that's fine, but please spare us your misguided sense of entitlement to a free service. Clearly mobile (and offline) access is a value-add service that is clearly here to add value to their existing premium service. Don't you people get it? This is a BUSINESS. They aren't doing this out of the goodness of their hearts. Its their job to make MONEY.
With that out of the way I have to say the app is very slick, it's just a shame it can't run in the background and a shame it can't be controlled with the headset burton. This is out if their hands unfortunately.

Fantastic app! Good choice of music (could do with a little more) and as other users state, if it could run in the background that would be very usefull, also a browse feature with genres etc...would be good.R.E the £10 a month issue: this is a very small price to pay to keep music alive, otherwise we'll be looking forward to xfactor flops in the future, we don't want that kind of industry do we?? Pay up and keep decent music alive!

ignore the one star reviews  rating of Spotify

firstly, apple seriously need to revise their application rating policy. allowing people to rate an app that they clearly haven't used shows them in a poor light.£10 (the equivelant of ONE new CD) a month is an absolute bargain for the amount of content available here. the app is fast and intuative.if you can spare £10/3 pints/22 kinder eggs a month then do yourself a favour and give this a go. if not, avoid the nuisance of downloading the app and having to go through the trauma of giving an angry one star 'review'.ps. mmm, kinder surprise (x22)!

Those of you giving bad reviews on the basis if the subscription need to realise how stupid you sound! This app is amazing. £9.99 is the price of one cd, yet for that you get all the music you want! How can you complain?! User interface is nearly flawless and very well executed. Needs to retain playback when the app closes tho so I can play worms!(although I realise that's just apple keeping us hooked on iTunes) Otherwise it's genius.

What an unbelievable app... I can now spontaneously access all the music there ever was (and will be) for the price of one album per month! I've just spent hours finding new, and forgotten, music. Wow. True, there's some problems and a few oversights, but give them a chance, they'll be ironed out. Now, if only all you idiots would cease with your incessant whining about having to pay £9.99. What did you expect? Most of us already knew that you'd have to get a premium account when we heard the app was going through approval. It's been in the news, rumour websites etc. You're a bunch of fools. The world changed today and I was there to watch <coughs> ... or listen. No more torrents for me.

Ignore the idiots who downloaded this and rated it 1star when they haven't got a premium subscription and couldn't use the app. 4 million tracks and offline synching for 10 quid a month is a bargain. To the fools who think it should be free - go into HMV and ask if you can take every song they have away with you for nothing. Grow up and get back to your torrents. If, on the other hand you are a music fan with half a brain cell then a £10 subscription for all the music you'll ever need is a bargain. Oh, and the app perfoms brilliantly too.

My god there are some stupid people using the app store  rating of Spotify

Brilliant app, all the music you want at your fingertips, whenever, wherever for just £10 a month!!I cannot believe some people are so stupid to expect this to be totally free. If you've downloaded and are too cheap to pay the subscription, then delete it and move on, don't leave a negative review because you're a cheapskate. OR why Not lay a tenner on the line and see how it is for a month, if you still don't like it, then leave a review, at least it'll be a little more informed and justified.Quick update: if you're considerig this app and are at all put off by the 2 stars it has, look at the reviews, the only 1 & 2 star reviews are people complaining about the price and have therefore NOT ACTUALLY USED IT. Everyone who has paid & used it has given 4 or 5 stars. This is a subscription based service, it costs £10 a month, if you don't think it's worth that for the amount of music you listen to, fair enough, don't download it and buy your music on CD or from iTunes. Music costs money to make, we're the end users, so contrary to popular belief, we DO have to pay for it. Otherwise you may aswell walk into a record shop and start pocketing CD's.
