True Joy!!! By: 3Gphone320 - Jan 17, 2009 Version: 0.6.5 This application has given me a feeling I think no other application will ever give me pure joy! When I launched this app and stared walking around my house, up the stairs, banging on the walls it just put a smile on my face. It felt as if I was hearing for the first time and the whole world was my instrument it's simply amazing!!
I just wish there where more channels but I am sure there will be in future updates!!
One of the best By: umami - Dec 5, 2008 Version: 0.6.4 I would give anything to be ten years old again and have these kinds of gadgets to play with. We left this running in the kitchen while we made dinner (if you're going to hook it up to speakers, make sure your iphone/pod's mic is far away from them to avoid feedback loops) and were constantly amazed and amused by hearing our process twisted and manipulated by RjDj. I can't wait until you can add your own custom scenes. Totally amazing app that gets more interesting the longer you play with it.
Goosebumps By: dastarrkid - Dec 4, 2008 Version: 0.6.4 My mind is completely blown! Let's put it this way, if you're even slightly electronically inclined, be it musically, technologically, or both. Get this app. Immediately! Make sure 2 use your mic'd iPhone earbuds, sit in a quiet room, and use the various sound interfacing programs 2 create your own musical experience with so much as your slightest breath. I'd like to shake the developers' hands. BRILLIANT
Your own personal soundtrack By: Regek - Dec 4, 2008 Version: 0.6.4 This application isn't likely to "change the face of music as we know it" or any of that, but it really is a fantastic idea. Each scene takes live audio input from the headset mic, processes it, and plays something back to you based on it. Most play back altered and looped versions of the audio they hear. Gridwalker generates music based on the environment, so while it doesn't play what it hears directly, the input still has an obvious effect on the output. Definitely worth my $3.
Game Changing By: Tibet Sprague - Dec 3, 2008 Version: 0.6.4 Walking through downtown with Eargasm playing is like being in a dream, you will re-think what is possible with technology. Everyone I show this to starts off skeptical then quickly their eyes light up and they start laughing. It is so much fun and has so much potential. I have done my share of audio programming using the language (pure data, i.e. Max/MSP) that is used to develop the "scenes" for RJDJ, and believe me there is a great future for this app.
It works now!!!! By: AtotheV - Nov 29, 2008 Version: 0.6.4 UPDATE: after the new 2.2 firmware update, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it worked. However, I did also remove about a dozen other apps in the process. So I'm not sure if there was a conflict with another app or if the firmware update actually fixed it.
Anyway... Now that it works... Absolutely cool.

Original Review Below
*******************************
I just bought the app (version 0.6.4). The app never runs. I see a gray and black background appear briefly but then it crashes.
Based on some of the reviews I tried removing it and reinstalling. I did this 8 times through my iPhone. I also did this 12 times through iTunes (on a windows box). I rebooted my phone before about half of those installs. I even tried the following process twice:
1) reboot phone
2) uninstall app
3) reboot phone
4) install app
5) reboot phone
6) start app
Even after all of this... I get the same result: it crashes.
Based on yet other reviews, I'm hoping this is just a version 0.6.4 issue. I'm going to keep the app and test the next update. If I get it to work I'll update my review.
Awsome app By: Friggin amazing - Nov 28, 2008 Version: 0.6.4 At first I was turned off buying this app by some of the reviews. So glad I changed my mind. This is so friggin amazing, I found myself going out of my way to found construction sights, parks, busy roads, gravel, neon lights, fish tanks, even the doors in the frozen section of a supermarket. The key here is input, the world around you is converted into a psychedelic soundtrack that craves both input and silence. I'll admit it's not for everyone, but if you ever tap your feet to a tune, drum on your little brothers head, burp in time to a song, bought a chill out cd for yourself or even your grandma, you must buy this app and go on an adventure into our noisy world and be amazed what tunes are created from the simplest sounds. Truly hypnotic. 5stars. Btw I'm not an employee, just friggin blown away at the simplistic complexity shoe horned into this app.
Great App (but where are all the awesome scenes???) By: kc! Bradshaw - Nov 23, 2008 Version: 0.7.0 I have been listening to the Gridwalker scene all morning. Just typing away on the computer generates the best mellow background computer music. I can imagine taking the bus or public transportation and listening to the other scenes generate music based on my surroundings. RjDj truly is a soundtrack to my life. This is probably my favorite iPhone application right now (10/10/2008)--waiting for it ever since I saw the beta video on their site. On the negative side (-1 star), I would really love to have more scenes available. This version comes with 6 scenes (the free version has 1) and it is a good start, but a lot of the ones they show on the website are missing. It sounds like they are going to release more scenes as paid or free updates, but there is no download mechanism in the RjDj tool. (I really hope they don't release a ton of different "albums" with different scenes on them... because it would be nice to have all of them in one single player on my phone like the sample video shows at http://www.rjdj.me/what )
I've loved this since I first got it! By: kacouch - Nov 22, 2008 Version: 0.6.4 I keep finding more things to like about this app. The Gridwalker is the best for putting me to sleep. Kind of like very mild wind chimes but not intrusive. I like all of the different things in it. It's hard to explain to anyone but when I show it to folks there faces light up. I have many apps but this is in my top 5 as far as a must have and I can't really say why. It just works and it's fun and it's different!!! By the way, I'm a middle aged lady! lol
my ultimate iphone app By: Rolffz - Nov 21, 2008 Version: 0.6.4 I have already downloaded a lot of apps from the itunes store. Paying for some and paying for others. Very few have impressed me as much as RjDj, regardless of their purpose. I immediately found a way to connect to my hard disk recording software to start a new 'soundtrack' project that I can not stop working on. From an inspirational standpoint alone, it's one of the best portable tools I could have ever dreamed of having. Extremely addictive in a very positive and creative way!

Buy this now! By: ArtGoesHere - Nov 21, 2008 Version: 0.6.4 I listen to this all the time! It is the most perfect ambient sound track to your life! After listening to if for only a few minutes I have a hard time telling what sounds are really happening and which are being played back. It's so surreal – you have to experience it for yourself. Buy it, download it, explore it right now because you will be blow away. If you think it's too expensive: It's only 3 bucks, just skip one cup of coffee this weekend and you will have payed for it. If it's not clear already, I LOVE THIS APP!
Kikanus By: REDIYZ - Nov 18, 2008 Version: 0.6.4 I feel so bad for the people who say this one won't work for them what a tease it must be to read these reviews and not be able to use it. Try downloading it to your mac first then syncing your phone or maybe just download it again. This is a must have for everyone. Of corse if you live in alterd states you have deffinitly got to invest in this one,and some calogne, breathmints, & visine. What's that? You dont have a mac? Now I feel really bad for you!
THE MOST UNIQUE APP!!! By: Dawgpound513 - Nov 11, 2008 Version: 0.6.4 WOW!
This is truly mesmerizing!
If you want to show off what the iPhone can do, get this App right now! This will blow anybody away. You will be toying with this app constantly.
A true one of a kind! So many possibilities that it will keep you entertained for weeks on end. I
I look forward to more scenes. The 6 included are fantastic! Well worth the price tag!
Stop reading this crap and buy this already.
Play a trick on your buddies.... Tell them you downloaded a new song. Have them put the ear phones on and watch their reaction...PRICELESS!!!
5/5
Spectacular Soundscapes! By: ButterBlaster5K - Oct 31, 2008 Version: 0.6.4 First off, I have had no problems with running this app. That said, it is a little glitchy when changing scenes. The sounds/algorithms are very innovative and leave room for the user to interact and be creative. This fun toy makes creating "enframed music" available to all of us fortunate enough to own an iPhone.
Next, I would say that the included iPhone headphones are certainly the weakest link in the chain- the microphone clips out pretty easily, and having digitally clipped audio recycle and loop isn't •always• very pleasant to the ears. I imagine some control over mic gain would resolve the issue.
I'm definitely looking forward to new scenes being added in the (cough, cough) near future. And I would love to see the scenes be able to transition from one to another. A scene morphing/evolving feature could be interesting too.
Worth every cent!
Worth every penny By: Jewboy4 - 19-Jan-2009 Version: 0.6.5 This app was the original reason I got any itouch 2g, and I downloaded the single version even before I got it, when I first used the single version, I was amazed, but it was lacking the scene I wanted more than any, eargasm and now that I finally have the album version, I can happily say, I've experienced it and it is every I expected it to be and a bit more. This app is truly worth paying for and no matter the price, I would still think of it as the best app for value, as it truly is priceless.
Awesome By: Jagger21 - Oct 31, 2008 Version: 0.6.4 This application rocks. It is so fun to put the headphones on someone and not tell them what you are doing. The initial response is the same. A big grin and the apperance of them being drunk. They just sit and giggle. But it is more than just that. It is art being created by the world around you. It makes you realize how many small things you miss each day in life. I love it. I will buy more albums if they make them. More! More! Please!
Finally, a program that actually allows you do something... By: Donna Forrest - Oct 26, 2008 Version: 0.6.4 My main problem with almost all the iPhone apps is that it doesn't allow for any actual creativity from the user, but RJDJ not only allows you to play around with various functions, you can even make your own (with some PD programming knowledge). Definitely my most surprised moment with an iPhone app so far! + I could see making it easier to email yourself the recorded mp3 via email. + when do we have more scene's available?? COOOL!
Creative, fun, and relaxing! By: Billifer - Oct 24, 2008 Version: 0.6.4 I tried RjDj Single, the free version, and thought it was OK but wasn't very impressed. Decided to try the "album" and I love some of the other tracks available here! I've found that when I want to relax, I can turn on Eargasm and just fade out. And when I'm feeling really creative, I flip over to "World Quantizer," start making some strange sounds, and have my dog bark a few times. Being able to record my creations only makes the app even better.
Altered States. By: krautrocker - 24-Dec-2008 Version: 0.6.5 The most significant experience available for humans this side of the beatiffic vision . Turn on tune in Far out !!.Gave it a go on a trip to Liverpool city centre as I walked out of the train station, I put "Echolon" on record as i approached a couple of buskers. One playing a saxaphone a little further on a bloke playing a acordian. The ensuring cacophony was quite dissorienting.Any body having trouble using this I suggest you watch the video on the link provided on the start up page. Instead of just slagging it off as rubbish. It puts a whole new perspective on any situation you find yourself in. People will think you've lost your mind, as you wander about the sensory deluge can get quite overwelming.P.S To the people moaning that there isn't enough scenes , you haven't watched the video link have you?. Otherwise you'd know more are on the way plus a build your own option!!.
Psychedelic Breakfast By: luxlucidus - Oct 19, 2008 Version: 0.6.4 This is easily the coolest, trippiest and most amazing app I have come across. As many have said, it is very hard to describe what it does. Luckily there is a free version which is more than enough to get your mind wrapped around it. It is a bit like having your own personal version of "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast" from Pink Floyd, but always changing and evolving depending on your surroundings. This thing really just is the shiz. I can't wait to see how this idea morphs and evolves. Easily worth a few bucks!!
