Reviews:
Extremely happy with this app!! By: Armani - Miami Beach - Version: I had a Garmin GPS device before getting an. iPhone 3GS and subscribing to this system. I have used it for an entire month daily in Miami and Orlando and it has taken me everywhere flawlessly!! I don't get incorrect directions at all! For a 10 buck per month app, I will not switch to Tom Tom anytime soon! It works extremely well in any major city. I don't travel to the woods much as many comlain about here, but if i am in the woods the iPhone has a Digital Compass to find my way USE IT! my only complaint is no night mode. Colors stay the same day or night!
Great App By: SkippyMcTippet - Version: I just used this for a trip from Los Angeles to Chicago and had absolutely no problems, even in areas where the phone was searching for a signal. The GPS locked almost immediately upon loading the app, and in 4.5 days of driving nearly 2,000 miles, the app only shut down once. Regarding the review of the gps tracking being slow and giving you instructions once you have passed an intersection, I have never had that problem.
Very Effective Tool and I do not have to remove songs off my iPhone to make room for it! By: Buck Bauer - Version: I had this app on my MotoQ before my iPhone. I enjoyed it then and it was a great tool. When I switched to the iPhone I missed having a navigator available. I researched the three other navigators available on iTunes. I decided on this app because I did not want to take up so much storage on the iPhone the other three required. I have used this app and have not been let down! I love how the voice directions work while listening to iPod on my phone while plugged into my car stereo! I also like the ability to go on my laptop to find and upload an address right to the Navigator!
AT&T nav rocks! By: xgalvan1 - Version: I used this app to get me from Chicago all the way to Michigan's UP and it worked the entire way. Not once was it off. For 10 bucks a month you can't beat it, you can turn it on and off whenever you want bc it's not a contracted feature.
All these people hating on Att need to realize that Telenav makes the software not Att. The software runs on the 3g network not satellite so yea there may be a rare occasion where it's slower. Att's 3g is so bogged down in some areas bc they've acquired so many customers since launch of iPhone, more annual growth than any carrier. If you think you can do better than you build a multibillion dollar network and well talk. Great work Att for a great app. Quit being cheap people.
Great app and best travel buddy By: Ann A - Version: This app saved my btt so many times and I totally rely on it. I originally tried using Google Maps but the street names it gives don't always match the names on the street signs. How would I know that CR 5322 is actually Scenic Gulf Drive aka Old Highway 98? With AT&T Navigator it had the correct street names and told me exactly when to turn so there was never a question. Also gives a great sense of freedom because you can just get in the car and go without having to look at a map or preplan your trip. You'll be happy paying only $9.99 a month when you're lost and this app saves you!
Excellent By: a_ninjamonkey - Version: Finally turn by turn voice navigation. An excellent app, performs better than most other ATT phones using navigator. Can't stress enough, if your using GPS either with Google Maps or Navigator get a Car Charger, period! Don't cry about battery drain if your not providing yourself with a solution. As with anything GPS on the Iphone turn on your WIFI for a faster location lock on, something you can't get from other devices. Try it out for a least a month extensively before you judge.
So I'm an employee... By: Miss AT&T - Version: I have got to say I was a blackberry addict and not to mention I was absolutely in loveee with the AT&T navigator that speaks turn by turn ... Haha due to the fact that I am very slow with directions! I absolutely loved the iPhone but the one down fall I thought it had was the fact that the gps was not speaking turn by turn, but once I discovered this app. I fell in love allllll over again ! The iPhone reallyyyy is for EVERYONE :) greattt app. So recommend it!!!!'nn
$10 a month fee is excessive, but overall the app is better than what's out there By: The iJohn - Version: I was highly skeptical about this app initially. I thought I'd try it for a month ($10 over $70 or $100 for the other apps is a good deal). I attempted it on many of the usual routes I take, and it's been very accurate with the best route. There was one that took me off my normal route, so I took it, timed it and it did save me a few minutes. It's been accurate for me so far. The downside, $9.99 a month is excessive. I would pay maybe $4.99 a month for the service. That would come out to to about $60 a year, which I think is fair. Of course free is better, but from experiences of friends, the free Sprint turn by turn isn't always the best, even in the big cities. I'd pay for accurate service. Users have complained about lack of landscape mode. I actually would prefer portrait. It gives more viewing to what's ahead rather than side to side. When I'm driving, that's what I want to see. I couldn't care less what streets are beside me, I want to see where I'm going ahead of time. It really needs a speaker attached, as the iPhone speaker isn't good enough. TomTom has come out, $99 without the extra hardware is a ripoff in my book. At least with this one, you can pay $10, if you don't like it, you can cancel. TomTom, you don't like it, you're stuck. I'll hold onto this app for another month to continue to see if it's worth it. So far, it's better than what's out there right now.
Works Perfectly By: flcinusa - Version: We tried this out on a "lets just see" basis for a little road trip and can have no complaints. It worked perfectly, found us cheap gas en route as well as wifi hotspots, the ETA feature was Dead on and it even allowed us to play iPod music and it paused it to give appropriate directions... Don't be put off by the $9.99 subscription fee, and don't think the upcoming TomTom app will be any cheaper.
Best Nav App for iPhone 3G-series By: will.serrano82 - Version: Gives clear and accurate directions as well as traffic re-routing. Recent updates allow you to pull contacts' addresses from your contacts list in your iPhone Address Book to route a trip directly to their location. Gives very good run of the mill POI suggestions which can come in handy, especially when out of town. Voice is a bit soft and a little muffled at times, but it's loud enough (not so much the app's fault as it is the iPhone's for having such a subpar speaker in mono in the 1at place),and the directions provide excellent and accurate street, highway, and exit/entrance names while directing your route. Also, there aren't any downloading nightmares like those associated with the 1GB+ app store nav apps which download maps to your device. This app requires cellular network signal for it to work properly. The app is ~$10 per month added on to your AT&T bill. It's not that big of a deal. I've heard people talking about waiting for TT, and it while it's pretty and maybe even more user friendly, it doesn't say street names. For $100? Plus, if your break your iPhone and don't have a way to replace it, you're stuck out with a $70-100 nav app on a broken cell phone. Also, with those high end apps for navigation, you can't try it, figure out whether or not it is a good choice and return it. To be fair, you can't return to AT&T or iTunes and demand a refund for their app, but you can cancel and opt out at any time if you're not satisfied.

Well worth it! By: zylant - Version: I've been using this app for a couple of weeks now. I am a real estate broker and always on the road looking for new addresses. I tested this app vs my recently updated Garmin 680 and ATT won numerous times. I done even take my garmin with me anymore. Only minus is a low volume (comparing to garmin). Traffic updates, routes, new locations... In my phone! You can't beat it! Would I like to pay less? Of course! But the quality I am getting well worry $10.
Great app! By: Antjuan - Version: This is a great app for someone trying to save money on an expensive nav system for the car. I agree $10 per mo adds up but it's alot easier to pay that then to fork over $300 in one sitting. The maps are updated every 2-3 weeks as opposed to paying $65-700 annually with car gps'. I have no problem using it on 3G or edge, it works fine on either network. Accident/traffic alerts are precise, search is great, and booting up is pretty fast.
It has worked everytime for me By: slamed93 - Version: I don't understand some the reviews, the monthly fee is for updates and traffic alerts. Most portable GPS offer traffic alerts for a fee, I was pricing a garmin b4 this app, I would of had to pay for msn to get traffic.
B4 switching to iPhone from blackberry this is the one app that made me hesitant about going with an iPhone, so thank you for bringing this app to iPhone. I about fell over when I found out that Att navigator was on the iPhone.
Get app worth the $9.99in my opinion, so don't to get this app
The best overall at this point By: Lt.GW - Version: UPDATE: delete the app before updating.
I have Navigon and iGo. Out of the three, iGo's graphics are the best. But that's where it ends. The latest AT&T version now has contact integration. You can opt out of the subscription within the app.
The POIs in this app a far and away tr most current an up to date. The roads are always there, even in a the new neighborhoods. The rerouting is quick and when traffic optimized, usig InriX data BTW, the results are fantastic. The others still have yet to roll out traffic routing. In Southern CA, this is a must. Yes you are dependent on satellite reception and fortunately I am in so. cal. where reception is good.
People complain about the subscription but portable GPS units typically cost with annual map updates. Navigon is quiet about future map updates.
Thus is my go to GPS nav app hands down.
Best turn-by-turn voice app By: h4ckler - Version: Ok it costs $10 a month, get over it cheapskates, there are like 20 free ones you can use. Stop writing crappy reviews.
If it were possible I'd give this app 4 1/2 stars, even still this is by far the best GPS app on iTunes for navigating.
If you want a serious GPS app this is it. (This app is powered by telenav. If you're not familiar with that company, feel free to do some research). The power of this app became suddenly apparent to me when it told me to get off a ramp on a highway that I knew I needed to stay on. I followed it's directions to find it was having me get right back onto the highway after exiting. I missed a large group of nearly gridlocked traffic. I was stunned.
Often times the app will find ways I never dreamed of taking to shorten my trip.
The app speaks clearly and pronounces the street names, while giving you a heads up on how many feet, you have until you turn.
Realtime traffic updates are amazing. If there is congestion ahead, the app will warn you and give you the option to reroute on the fly.
I used a TomTom twice. Both times I found myself on newly constructed roads and the TomTom was beeping and making all matters of sounds telling me I was off in a field. I've yet to experience that with this app.
The maps are clear and easy to read.
The one complaint I have is a rural address it could not find. While irritating, it was a matter of making a phone call and getting some help as it still did get me to the town.
The app offers some nice route features allowing you to take highways only, sidestreets, shortest route, fastest route (with traffic support), and a few other variations.
All-in-all I think this app is well worth $10 a month. It is feature rich and easy to use.
P.S. There really should be a way to rate reviews, I can't believe Apple allows some of these reviews to remain as such. They're clearly written by children.
Works really really well...very Apple-like. Definitely worth the $$$ By: sumowondertoad - Version: First, people, stop complaining about the ten bucks per month already. It's not like it's a big mystery how much it is! I've used a couple of different navigation apps for the iPhone and this one definitely tops the list. Here's why I think so:
• It just works. No crashing. No mysterious controls. I like the interface very much. It's clean and simple.
• It's far cheaper in the beginning. Instead of paying $35-75 or more, you get to try it in full for free for the first 30 days. After that, the $10 monthly is easy to justify. And if it's not up to your standards, just cancel your subscription. Easy.
• It speaks the street names in a clear voice. None of the other apps seem to do this. It makes it easy to use. I don't even have to look at it while driving, which makes it seem far safer.
• No huge download. No looooong backup times. Any of the other apps require a very large download. All that info makes backup times unbearable. I went from 30 seconds to several hours with the others. With this one, there's no additional delay.
• Maps are always up-to-date.
• Although the iPhone's contact list isn't integrated, it's easy enough to add addresses online or in the app. Plus, the app allows you to call in addresses, and that works really well.
• Yeah, no maps where there's no service. No big deal for me. I went through a no service area for about 30 miles in Montana. I didn't get lost.
Conclusion: better by far than the others, cheaper to start (free to try in full), AT&T supported, so probably better in the long run too than a third-party developer.
It works. And 9.99 isn't bad. By: Works! - Version: Listen folks, 10 bucks for this awesome app isn't bad. Think about it... 10 bucks for 2 years. 240. Where can you find a good quality, speech recognizing, rerouting and traffic advisor GPS unit that's completely portable!?!? Try tomtom or garmin. Okay. 199 for the unit, right? But after the first 6 months, guess what? Time for a 90 dollar update. What's that? You drove to your destination only to see that the road no longer exists? Never will you have that problem with this navigator. I hated driving in Pittsburgh, but with the traffic rerouting (which is very accurate) I'm able to save myself 10-15 minutes in the AM when I hit traffic. This is a great nav unit, a great price (thanks AT&T) and does so much. I don't understand people who complain about service fees. You're paying for your airtime. Cable is more expensive than having an iPhone. Geez. Do the math for the navigation. It's simple. It's cheaper than tomtom or garmin and has many features they never will.
Great app for people who need voice direction By: theclevershark - Version: Works great for searching, gives you voice direction, and you can have favorites saved so it is very easy to access my (lage) list of adresses (that may not be saved to my contacts) - on the iphone or on the web. Search along is a great feature i use a lot, searches for stuff along your route and reroutes you back to your destination. I love this app, and dont mind the $10/month on my bill, that adds to $120/year - the app is free. My wife has ne of those in car units and, after paying $150+ for the unit, we moved and her map is not showing some of the streets - solution $80 map pack - so $120 vs. $230+. I'll take my navigator any day. Finally, I still use google maps to search for stuff sometimes bc it loads faster than navigator. If you need turn by turn directions- try this!
I LOVE IT By: JustinTime523 - Version: Don't understand what the complaining is about. AT&T charges a fee so does Nokia. This is awesome gives me directions where I need to go. If I make the wrong turn it quickly reroutes. Reliable. I can cancel anytime or put it back anytime. I don't have to carry around another gizmo. If you go to the AT&T site it says you get 30 days free but then you immediately get charged, just call AT&T tell them you signed up with free 30 days and they will remove the charges immediately. Awesome. Love it. Go for it !!!
