Incredible (it's on a phone after all)  rating of MobileNavigator Europe
By: Intranicity - 06-Jul-2009
Version: 1.0.0
Amazed at just how negative some people are over this app, considering it's running on a device that does so much, I think it's great. Ok I had a few problems at first, when on charge in the car, at the end of a journey, I had hardly any juice left in the battery, I was also suffering the same problem as many others though in that the phone (3g) was draining the battery overnight. Also, the screen kept dimming whilst driving. I did 2 complete factory resets and all these problems are cured. I suggest if you're having problems you try this. I have very few problems with the GPS signal, I have the phone just below the stereo in the car, not a great position, but the thing works fine and the accuracy just has to bee seen to be believed, driving around spaghetti junction this weekend was a breeze and I had no idea where I was going, it was accurate and gave prompts in pleanty of time, again, if you're having problems, try a total restore. Only negatives really are it would really benefit from full postcode search (by the way, when entering an address, by default it asks for a town name, but you can just type the postcode, then it will bring up the streets). It's a bit irritating when the voice keeps saying "beware" warnings, but sure that can be switched off, need to play more. Traffic camera and traffic updates would be a major plus point too. Overall though, great app, one of the best, if it don't work, please restore your whole phone

Does what it says on the tin  rating of MobileNavigator Europe

Bought the £55 European one rather than the £38 Britain only one (both special intro prices). People seem to be confused between the two. Wanted extra maps for trips abroad so £55 for whole of Europe is a bargain.
Agree with the issue of not having postcode lookup but finds addresses quickly so I'm not too put off by that.
Never had a sat nav in the car so am impressed with what this does and I don't need yet another piece of kit to carry around. Might not be up to spec of top of the range sat nav but for the price of this, seems great.
Also, can confirm it works with music playing. I use it in the car with a Griffin iTrip to feed into the radio. I get both the music and voice commands clearly through the radio, brilliant.
Simple and effective, very pleased.

Most Excellent!!!  rating of MobileNavigator Europe

I have to say I was dubious about having Sat Nav on my phone. I for one think this is an excellent App. There are some gripes as pointed out by other reviewers. However the lack of 7 digit postcodes and no speed camera database are the only things I'd like to see added. I took it out today for a run from Stafford to Weston-super-Mare today, a trip I do several times a year. Not one glitch along the way and it behaved exactly as you'd expect. There was no drop in GPS signal, re-routed me in about 2 seconds when I took a wrong turning on purpose. I can't say I experienced the screen lock-outs after a few minutes as stated by other users. The App ran for the entire journey with no lock-outs. We did have a breakfast stop about 10 a.m when I turned off the Sat Nav App. When we returned to the car, I re-started the App and it continued to guide us from where we left it. I was surprised by this as other reviewers have said this is not the case, however, I am running this on a 3GS iPhone, which may be why there are differences. My wife now has my old 3G iPhone, which means we'll be selling both our TomToms. Well done Navigon for beating TomTom to market and for producing a most excellent Sat Nav App. I'd recomend this App to anyone. Well worth the money.

Brilliant  rating of MobileNavigator Europe
By: Man of Sax - 28-Jun-2009

Excellent app. Accurate and voice is clear as a bell. The motorway lane guide is an excellent feature.
As a workaround to the partial postcode input, if you choose your destination from contacts then full postcode navigation will work if you've put the full postcode in contacts beforehand which, let's face it, would be sensible if going to a holiday destination etc.
A motorway bypass near to me, finished a number of years ago, did not register and if the maps are not up to date this would be helpful in a later update. In the meantime this is better than my car's built in SatNav and I will be using this in preference to it.

Excellent (From: CHRISTOPHER ROBERTS)  rating of MobileNavigator Europe
By: Christopher Roberts - 28-Jun-2009
Version: 1.0.0
This application is really excellent. I have used TOMTOM before using this product on my last phone. However, NAVICON is by far more intuitive, easy to use, etc. There is a lot less work to do with this app, everything is done in the background. Some people may think that there is less to this product than TOMTOM but that's not the case. It's just that the technogy is better and needs less human involvement. I navigated to a new house on a new road and it was in the database of this application. So those who say that the maps are not up to date are wrong. Also, the road names are on the bottom of the screen, someone said there weren't any road names??? And the app does tell you distance between places. And no the iPhone does not dim if you go into iPhone setting and prevent the phone switching off while out on a journey. Please buy thus product it really us worth the money.

Excellent program, just a few very minor glitches.  rating of MobileNavigator Europe
By: Charles_N - 27-Jun-2009

Today I downloaded the Mobilenavigator Europe App. Boy, It's a Big download but is was well worth the wait .. Ps Don't buy this via your iPhone .. Use your Mac or PC otherwise the download will take far too long.
Entering your home location is not so easy if you want to do it by dropping a "Pin"on the map, saving that and setting that as "Home".
The maximum speed warning settings are a little daft at the moment - The options are set far too low .. But, I am sure that will be fixed in the next update. The warnings can be switched off so no immediate problem exists.
The voice directions are clear and precise. Routing for the short journey I have done as a test run was dead on.
Choosing for the App to "Take me home" is a little muddling .. Perhaps Navigon can look at that for the next update also.
I was trying to use the App in my car with a Motorola BlueTooth car kit ... It did NOT work at all. I today had my car kit replaced by a Parrot Mki 9100 kit.
I now have everything working and the App is amazing working and announcing via BT through my car Kit and car speakers.
I can now say goodbye to my portable GPS unit that i have been using .. I have everything I need in my iPhone.
This App is otherwise excellent. Thank you and well done Navigon. This App is staying on my iPhone for sure.

Awesome! Simplicity = effective. Comprehensive POIs = I can trust it!  rating of MobileNavigator Europe
By: andygoundry - 26-Jun-2009
Version: 1.0.0
I read a bunch of reviews that suggest that the app's simplicity could be a drawback and that it was lacking some features. I wasn't sure if i should buy it or not, but dived in anyway. I'm glad i did.
Pros (some others exist that others have commented on):
* Simplicity = effectiveness. Having used TomTom and Garmin in the past, i have to say that the system's simplicity is hugely welcome! TomTom is overly cluttered and confusing and Garmin is ugly. Navigon have clearly got a good User Experience team as they've focused the tool really well. I really enjoy using it!
* It has a wonderfully clean interface and graphics
* 3D view is uncluttered
* 2D view has street names and is only a tap away
* GPS accuracy seems perfect
* POIs are really comprehensive - this has always caused me a headache on a TomTom (even on the 730 that cost a fortune) and Navigon have nailed this one. For me, this is a huge win as without good POIs, i am constantly browsing the web for them and lose faith in them so revert back to Google. No longer an issue with the comprehensive list from Navigon!
* Speech works through bluetooth and is clear (plus i like the voice)
* They got their first! I don't think we can underestimate the need for this! Prior to this app becoming available, all i'd heard about was TomTom. I'm really glad Navigon got there first as i love it!
* £54.99 for all Europe maps! Incredible! I read a few reviews of people complaining that the UK version is £17 cheaper, but really, £17 for an extra 1.4Gb of maps? An absolute bargain! I opted for the Europe package over the UK one as i will be in Europe some time in the future and now have a comprehensive set of maps. Excellent!
* Two finger zooming! Lovely!
Areas for improvement:
* A bit too slow to startup on 3G, but i hope that'll improve over time and i can live with it
* Full postcode search yet to be provided, but the current part search is a great start and is so much more usable that TomTom's (because it's so simple to use)
* Traffic would be ace
* Perhaps street names in 3D view would be good

Fantastic - The first GPS system I have had that worked flawlessly first time  rating of MobileNavigator Europe
By: nikwik - 25-Jun-2009
Version: 1.0.0
Used App twice now with 3Gs and I can't fault it when compared with my N95 and Garmin systems which always seem a little unreliable. Location wise it seemed spot on constantly on a drive through the east end of London.
Only wish is that I had spotted the UK only version first which is a little cheaper- TomTom should be kicking themselves for dragging their feet with their release - Doh !

A great app  rating of MobileNavigator Europe
By: Simon Watmore - 24-Jun-2009
Version: 1.0.0
I am very pleased with this app. It is simple to use and very clear to follow. The 3D view is excellent, and the motorway junctions graphics very accurate. Recalculation of routes also quick. Live traffic would be a great addition, also speed camera POI's would be helpful, but for £55 it is well worth the money. You can also see current speed and distance still to travel by tapping on the "estimated time of arrival" icon.

Almost Perfect  rating of MobileNavigator Europe
By: WanderingAroundOntario - 7-Dec-2009
Version: 1.3.0
In October, 2009, I drove 7200 km across Germany, France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Austria, solo, using Navigon to guide my travels. I cannot say enough good about Navigon. It worked almost flawlessly and made the navigation part of the trip simple.Navigon always found the satellite signal and seldom dropped it—even when going through most tunnels in the mountains. The program never ‘crashed’ and always picked up the route after stops to fuel, etc.Shopping locations, major points of interest, hotels, and restaurants were found easily using the POI feature. Navigon works with the Contacts app, so I could book a hotel ahead on the Internet, copy the address to Contacts, and have Navigon set a route to that address in Contacts. For side trips, I simply turned off the sound and went wherever I felt like going. Navigon recalculated a new route to the original destination. When I had completed the side trip, I turned the sound back on, and went from there. I even used Navigon for walking trips in town and out in the countryside. I tried out most of the features for route--scenic, quickest, avoid tolls, etc.—and the route choices all seemed to fit.The iPod interface works really well, with suppression of the music and a louder presentation of the directions with impending route changes.Speed limit display was almost always correct and the audio warning for speeding worked beautifully.About the only thing I can fault Navigon on is that the maps are out of date in some places—particularly north of Madrid in Spain where there is a lot of new road development. But this is probably true for all GPS navigation programs.I’m very satisfied with Navigon.

Recent update issues  rating of MobileNavigator Europe
By: SatNavUK - 12-Sep-2009
Version: 1.2.0
I have used this program on my iPhone 3GS extensively in the UK, and it has been a lifesaver. Clear instructions, highly visible maps, and lane assist, make this an excellent SatNav solution.
The new update (1.2.0) now supports text-to-speech, which is great. However, since installing this update, I've noticed that registration of the position of the car on the map can be a few seconds behind the actual position when making sharp turns, and this can lead to an incorrect instruction being issued - e.g., "make a u-turn" is stated, when in fact, you should continue ahead on the road. As well, I have noted the GPS signal drop out a couple of times while using this program, and this had never occurred prior to the update. Hopefully this will get sorted out with another update.
Overall, still highly recommend this program!

Latest Version is an improvement!  rating of MobileNavigator Europe
By: Focalplane - Sep 29, 2009
Version: 1.2.0
Yes, it is and we have tested it in a number of ways since first reviewing the original release. In France we switched to French and metric system and it all made excellent sense (assuming one understands French!) We did have a poroblem trying to locate an underground parking garage in central Montpellier, ending up crossing a tram line which may not have been legal. Other than that the new voices are more sybbilant which is a shame. By the way, we certainly don't want celebrity voices, should this ever be proposed. Our English lady is now Gertrude, while her French counterpart is Genevieve. And yes, we talk to them, particularly when we decide to take an alternative route!

Spain September 2009  rating of MobileNavigator Europe
By: DrGrape 11 - Sep 28, 2009
Version: 1.2.0
Just returned from 21 days in Spain; am sure could not have done this as planned without this application. Extremely accurate ,great lane alerts, outstanding graphics and quite fast. Only let us down in old town Seville ; could not stay up with the gps signals in the narrow streets some of the time. However worked in lots of other old towns. Pedestrian mode was quite useful. POI especially Hotels and Restaurants excellent. Always found additional addresses. Easily worth the money. I had brought along a Garmin Nuvi 360 as my prime ,ditched it early on- slow and inaccurate.

Good decision  rating of MobileNavigator Europe
By: Jjkp - Sep 17, 2009
Version: 1.2.0
Works well but with the street names in Europe being as long and wierd as they are, it's almost better to disable TTS... I mounted my iPhone in my cup holder behind my shifter and still got signal most of the time (thanks to the sunroof). It would be on the interstate and all in a sudden direct me to get back on the interstate because it thought I went off the road. I think a better mounting position will so I'm not deducting any stars for that...

Expensive but worth every EURO  rating of MobileNavigator Europe
By: Hdawg27 - Sep 11, 2009
Version: 1.2.0
My wife and I are on our first trip together to Europe (we have both been to Europe previously but never Portugal). Portugal is not your typical European tourist trap. It is not a go to for Americans but it should be. The people are amazingly nice and very helpful. However, the directions in Portugal are somewhat third world. If it wasn't for our MobileNavigator we would NEVER have found our hotel or any of the restaurants that we have selected outside our hotel. It has been a lifesaver and we totally trust it even if it has taken us on goat paths or through rock quarries; it has always gotten us there. Expensive but worth it!

a great navigator  rating of MobileNavigator Europe
By: Jdosmer - Aug 19, 2009
Version: 1.1.0
I finally jumped in and dropped the money on this app and am very satisfied. On my 3G before even using the app, I backed up and synced and then erased the phone (2 hours) and then restored from backup. This was the recomended procedure in the Navigon FAQ to improve gps reception. so far the gps signal has not dropped not even through 3km long Swiss tunnels. When the new update comes end of summer, the app will be nearly perfect. thanks Navigon.

Respect to the Navigon developers...  rating of MobileNavigator Europe
By: air2air.net - Aug 9, 2009
Version: 1.1.0
This turn-by-turn navigation aplication is just great. In previous years I have had an access to use many navigation tools and software.
Before I decided to buy MobileNavigator Europe, I have checked all present and future iPhone applications for turn-by-turn navigation. I read a lots of reviews and in all of them looks like all of them are poor. That is not true. I am sure all works great.
Each application may have different interface, but most of them use same maps and because all of us are different, we can like or dislike different things.
And ok, back to Navigon application.
First of all, it is very simple and user friendly. Everyone will setup all features in less then 5 minutes. Maps so far are very good. All speed limits are very precision. Many useful features such as: lane assistant (it helps to find out what lane keep before the next manouver) or adjustable speed warning. POI database hope will be updated soon in all european contries, but still 5 stars from me.
Keep it up good work!!!

Much happier now after downloading a second time!  rating of MobileNavigator Europe
By: johns258 - Jul 11, 2009
Version: 1.0.0
First downloaded this directly to my iPhone which was a mistake. For whatever reason it really screwed up my phone and iTunes. Then I downloaded the file to iTunes and reset my iPhone. Now it works really well. Have been using it in Norway and a lot in Oslo. Has helped us several times. I use it with a Griffin iTrip so the directions are given through the radio by a pleasant voice. Works well except the directions are much louder than the music playing which is annoying (but I think this is to be corrected in the next version). I can run a podcast or music from the iPhone in the background which is great. Not having to use the 3G network is a huge plus based upon the cost of a data plan for my U.S. based phone. Overall a well worthwhile app.

MobileNavigator Europe iPhone 3G  rating of MobileNavigator Europe
By: Spriggiepoo - Jun 26, 2009

Downloaded and it took about 2.5 hours due to my German t-online DSL which is the 1000 in my area then it install with no problems and the UI picked up an instance connection and no problem with GPS disconnecting. Test it today in my car and it did not disconnect at all. I compared it along side my 7310 Navigon unit and their were no difference except the road signs information was better on the iphone and my desination address was right on target. This App is definitely the best and well worth the price. Waiting on update for Traffic information and warn against Red light cameras.

People complain about support I suggest you use facebook and find navigon on there. They provide actual iPhone support from the iPhone team as oppossed to a 9-5 custumer support with a simple script they work from and no nothing of the products. You will be amazed at how much support u get from the navigon facebook page. Don't need to say much about the product as I have used navigon forever. Had a 2110, 2150max, 7310 and 8310. Now all I need is my iPhone! Amazing! Just to add the facebook page also provides what upcoming updates will include and when to expect them. Looking forward to navigon live services on iPhone mid October!!!
