Great app that does one thing and does it very well

This is a great app and one I use weekly to see what movies are coming out in my area. Yes, I could do a search or go to my Yahoo! home page, but this makes things dead easy. And even better, when I'm away from home I just pop this app open and in moments I can see what's showing nearby. And the presentation is beautifully clean and well done, including integration with trailers and maps/directions.
Now add in the easy ability to find the top-rated movies, the most recent films to come out, and the most popular movies out there (how is that determined, though? Box office take? User reviews?), and you've got a truly stellar app. No online ticket purchase? Personally, I could care less. I have a discount card from my cable company that requires me to buy tickets in person anyway. I think the whole idea is over-rated to begin with, between the surcharges on an already ludicrously expensive ticket and the lack of Fandango ticket kiosks in smaller theaters.
So overall, considering it's less than the price of a small coffee at Starbucks, it's absolutely well worth it. If you go to the movies regularly, you'll absolutely love this app.

Well organized... Great Visualizations... Includes everything that you are looking for when checking for theaters and what is playing. You can watch trailers, get movie times as well as search ahead for another day. Seems accurate when picking up your GPS location. Open and close theater selection windows and sub informationals. Select by theater, movie, ratings and even has catagory for New listings. There is no reason for not being well informed with this application. I would give it a "FIVE STAR" rating.

Best alternative to BoxOffice

Since BoxOffice is no longer available, due to technical problems with the app, I decided to give this application a try, after all it is just $2 people; you own a very expensive device, I think everyone using this app store has $2 to spend. Anyways after some use I found the application to be the best alternative to BoxOffice. It is neat and clean, very easy to read interface and most importantly it works. This is by far the best movie app at the moment for the iphone, yes there is showtime but I personally enjoy having the flexibility to watch movie previews while on the go.

This is my 2nd favorite app that I own and after playing and comparing this app against other free movie apps. I couldn’t help but notice the ease of this app. I was impressed with the interface. I put this app on my iPhone 3G with a 24hour time on it, No problems @ all. The search tabs for Theaters, Popularity, Ratings, and Newest is simple & fast. And let’s not forget the Location finder and mapping. It is what it is easy sharp looking and fast. Bottom line I have nothing to complain about and for what its worth I would of paid up to $5.00 for this app and for $1.99 is a great deal, well worth the price. The Apps title says it all OneTap Movies.

I am a very avid movie watcher. Usually 2 movies in a weekend so this App is great for me. So far i have had no problems at all with it. It does flash the Map screen before it loads but so what. It lasts for less than a second and then you have all the theatre and movie listing for your area in a Very nice UI layout. All of the trailers load immediately.I can not recomment this App enough for movie lovers. Thank you so much.

Ok, so I read all the other reviews and was sceptical to buy this app, but as it was the only cinema app to work in the UK, I went for it. It worked perfectly. My iPhone is set to the US Virgin Isles to allow the 12 hour clock. This setting maintains the correct currency etc so I'm happy to leave it this way. Also I've found that location services are buggy in the new iPhone 2.0 software so it requires you to find your location in the Maps application first then open OneTap movies. At this point it almost immediately found all my local cinemas allowing me to browse through their film listings. Note that I didn't need to manually enter where I am. One glitch I found though was that all the cinema names listed seem to have spurious characters between words such as "Å". In conclusion, this app worked great for me and with a fix to location services in the OS this will be amazing.

Seriously, I didn't believe most of these reviews since they just seemed to repeat stuff about "one click" which is the brand of the developer, but this UI really does rock. A lot of thought went into this app. When you open it it quickly finds your location and shows you an expandable list of the closest theaters, with the nearest one open already, then it really is just one click to watch trailers, or get directions or collapse that theater's movie listing and show the full list of theaters, etc... If you like movie planning on your iPhone, don't waste your time with the free apps, they honestly don't compare. The whole startup picture showing google maps is a tiny bit annoying, but as an iPhone dev I can say this fix is trivial and hopefully the dev for this app will release an update soon to fix that one tiny issue...

I almost through my iPod Touch over the balcony when I tried to use Fandango's website to view movie listings and info. One tap movies is intuitive and has everything where it ought to. Trailers built in, showtimes, comprehensive movie listing database, maps, actual distance calculation from where I am even with an iPod touch. It was the best $2 I've ever spent. Works better than any website even from my laptop. This is how a movies app needs to be.

I thought all these great reviews must have been fake, because a few said it was broken. However, I took a risk and am 100% satisfied. Movies.app and BoxOffice just didn't do it for me. I'm an avid movie goer, and this allows me to check showtimes at all the closest theaters. Not only does it do what it says it does, it does it with style. This app is presented with seamless iPhone 2.0 greatness. AOTS should have reviewed this on. It gets a 5 out of 5

A fantastic, front page application for your iPhone. Well worth the couple of bucks.

Yes, there's other programs that have this functionality, and you could certainly just pull up Yahoo Movies in Safari, but for your pocket change you get a gorgeous interface that saves you the trouble of resizing a movie times webpage and entering your zip code. Everything is very slick and put together and the fact that it automatically knows the theaters in the area (even on a 1st gen iPhone!) is superb. A great buy, and well worth your time.

I live in Brisbane, Australia and OneTap movies works very well. I have had a couple of problems with the location, trying to change manually seemed impossible (didn't recognise, Brisbane, suburbs, area codes, was frustrating). This means if you wnat to serach for an where you WILL be it is pretty useless, hopefully they will fix this in the next update (but again, this is for Australia, so overall it is still great!). But when it does work (nearly all the time) it is fantastic. It captures info from all my nearest dozen cinemas. It did stick the gold coast in the list when I was on the north side of brisbane (very wrong). Overall, this app is AWESOME, Grab it while it is free. Definetly worth a couple of doallars as well.

Title of my review says it all really. Works a treat in Sydney, has previews for most movies, is easy to use. A must for even the occasional movie watcher.
*ADDED* - At the risk of sounding too praising, their customer service is fantastic. I had a problem with the product for about 2 weeks, and only decided to do something about it last night. I got a friendly overnight response and the problem was solved easily. Cannot be more impressed with this product / organisation.

This app provides an excellent way to get movie times in my iPhone. It picks up nearly all the local cinemas, and the interface works well. Would be nice to have movie poster thumbnails to add to the visual appeal (they don't show up for Aussie users), but sent a request to the developers and even though I'm sure they've received heaps of the same request I still got an email back to thank me foe the feedback and to say they were working on improving the international support. $2.49 well spent in my opinion.

This is the best movie app I've tried. It's much better than getting on my computer and having to navigate confusing/cluttered theater sites, entering my zip code every time. This quickly (about 10-20 seconds over EDGE) gets me movie listings in all the local theaters. You can sort them by distance, rating, popularity or newness. The interface is attractive and easy to understand. Click on the map icon to get directions to the theater. A star rating is shown for each movie, and you can click to play a preview. This kind of application is ideal for mobile computing. It's hard to imagine a better way to do this. Definitely worth the few bucks it costs in time and aggravation saved.

When I purchased this app for a very fair price I was able to delete ALL the other apps I had to use to do what ONE TAP does! I love the convenience of this app! I can view the trailer, see what the critics rated it and the location and times where it is playing
no matter where I am at..Great Job Avantar! I am so tired of some of these BS apps I've been wasting my time with. I got my $ worth on this.

It's hard to imagine how detailed and comprehensive this app can be, considering it's free! Once I've set my location in Location Services, it displays all my local theatres as well as the films and showtimes playing in each location. At first, OneTap Movies assumed that my closest movie theatre would be in Bellingham, WA (about a half-hour's drive south), but after clicking on Refresh, several local cinemas were shown instead. I guess a feature request would be to have a Search function, in order to find where a requested movie was playing. However, considering the price I paid, this is a minor quibble -- and in any case I can just look through my local theatre listings in OneTap Movies. Good job, Avantar!

I hate trying to find out what the local movie theaters having playing, when it is playing, and what the reviews are. It means I have to boot up my system, log on, and surf to the right site. NO MORE! This app does it all in a jiffy. As I am a heavy traveller, it has the added advantage of giving me that information for the closest (or all) movie theater in the area, and then giving me driving directions to it!! You can't beat this for a time and grief saver. When my friends and I want to go to a movie, they turn to me and ask me to pull up the movies playing and the schedules. No more waiting till we get home, looking the information up, then calling all the guys and playing phone tag over what time fits everyone's schedule!
If you enjoy taking your family or going with friends to the movies - get this app!!

I love the function of this application. My only negatives are that the trailers are sometimes not very clear and the logo and color schemes are downright UGLY. I hate the purple color on the home screen logo and the font on the app button. If you could change the color schemes on the app button and start up screen, I would absolutely love it. I don't believe that the visual experience matches the simplicity and class of an apple product. It doesn't flow with the design.

Better than showtimes free app

I really like this app. Its basically the same as the free showtimes app except it has the movie trailer link and the imdb link. Both of which are worth the extra 2 dollars. It works great in Canada but not with the location services. You have to mannually input either your postal code or city and province. So if your out some where you cant just tell it to locate your closest theatres you have find out the postal code or put the city in which is kind of a drawback. I hope they fix this in a future update so that the location services works north here in Canada where they sell app also. I think its pretty much the same for most apps that use the location services they dont work in Canada unfortunately. Still looking for a imdb app.

Tonight I spent some time exploring apps to help me find movie times. I live in a rural area so I knew I most likely would not find a perfect app. However, One Tap Movies came out on top. For one, it has a slick interface. It looks like it belongs on the iPhone. I liked the fact that you could type in a city name and search rather that using only a proximity based search or having to remember zip codes. I love the fact it integrates previews and maps. My only knock on the program is fact that the ratings of the movies out now seem really high, especially when you compare them to rottentomatoes. In fact, add rotten tomatoes reviews and this app would be perfect.
