Pretty good update By: Sthellth - 02-Aug-2009 Version: 1.1 Been using this app for a while now, as I wasn't gonna be ripped off by the big guys navigation software. Anway this last update which gave it voice and extra map views is great.. Could say it has some way to catch upto the likes of tom tom, but in fact even basic it's just great the way it is. And at this price a real steal. I wouldn't hesitate to reccommend this app to anyone... So please keep up the good work, and I really appreciate the updates.. Great
Great low cost app! By: Dred242 - Sep 12, 2009 Version: 1.1 I installed this app on my iPhone about 2 weeks ago but didn’t give it a real road test until today. I was generally impressed with it’s performance when it comes to tracking my movements across my 14 mile commute home from work (mostly freeway). The App was quick to respond to my gradual turns on the freeway, and hard turns & stops once I exited the freeway. Only once did a map tile fail to load, it was in a section of the screen that was off to the left of my route so it was no big deal. I only have two complaints: #1. The audio output of the Roadee app is EXTREMELY low. It’s very hard to hear navigation instruction over all of the road noise. I tried plugging my iPhone into the AUX input with an audio cable but the app still seems to not be configured to send it’s audio out of the headphone jack at a higher audio level. #2. The little orange arrow that represents my car in the center of the map/screen blends with the same orange colored freeways on the map tiles. It’s not that I don’t know where the arrow is but it would be nice if in a future update the arrow gets changed to a different color. Overall the Roadee turn-by-turn GPS app is a keeper, and for the price…it can’t be beat. I rarely find myself in an area where I need turn-by-turn GPS, but it’s nice to know that I now have a fully functional and fully “paid for” turn-by-turn GPS app right in my pocket.
Nothing can touch it for the price!!! By: MorryZ - 31-Aug-2009 Version: 1.1 This app has a choice of maps so if one isn't working out (takes a while to load or does not have a street) then simply try another;)
It's kind of like an animated google maps/directions.. So far after 2 weeks it gets me where I want to go.
The audio is rough, when it works, but asside from that it certainly gets the job done.
Certainly nothing wrong that an update can't fix;)
All in all a steal for a couple of bucks!!!
Keep up the cheap yet quality work!!!
Road tested By: MichaelFoord - 12-Oct-2009 Version: 1.1.1 I've used roadee for several long journeys in the UK: roadee hasn't steered me wrong yet. It isn't perfect of course, the iPhone gps has inherent limitations (doesn't cope well in city centres like London with lots of tall buildings for example) and the map data is downloaded on demand so it only works if you have phone coverage. The voice speaks too much for my liking as well - but I use it on mute. Overall an excellent program - it calculates excellent routes which is pretty awesome for a $2 app. The map coverage in the parts of the UK I've used it in (London, York, Reading, Northampton) is generally very good *except* for the road my house is on. Oh well, it is open - time for me to fix it I guess.
A steal. By: DavidClarke - 17-Aug-2009 Version: 1.1 Well at this price I had to download and give it a try and I'm pleasently surprised. Asides from the lack if preloaded maps this is pretty smooth.
You have a choice of map sources so if like me you have a preference towards a particular company that's handy. The maps load over your data connection so they're always as up to date as possible. Now with this comes the app's main letdown, if you have no data connection, as is often the case on obscure roads, you have no satnav. Perhaps an in app purchase would let us invest in a set of offline maps?
A minor fault is that route planning is also online which means you need a signal to start your route.
All if this is pretty insignificant though as at £1.19 it's amazingly well featured and priced, just don't expect it to rival your tomtoms or the like.
Twit.tv reviews and recommendations By: RandalSchwartz - Aug 21, 2009 Version: 1.1 Please recognize what I have understood about this application. First, it's just $2, not $30, or $50, or $100 like its competitors. Second, it's using OpenStreetMap.org, which varies in quality. For some parts of the world, OSM will be far better than anyone else. For most of the world, it will be on par. And for some places, OSM is lagging. But here's the thing: OSM is about YOU. If you find that Roadee points you wrongly in your neighborhood, YOU CAN FIX IT. Join the website, upload the corrected maps, and within a few days, Roadee will know. This is NOT the case with anyone depending on the duopoly of major providers. Make OSM better, and Roadee will get better. It's up to you. Most negative reviews of Roadee are actually negative reviews about OSM. But it's up to you to fix OSM. I do agree, Roadee has some user interface issues to fix, and I know that my $2 will be helping pay them to fix that. Get Roadee now, even if you still use something else. It will get much better later, and I hope it costs $20 then, not $2.
Great beginning and incentive to a great idea By: kepardue - Aug 20, 2009 Version: 1.1 I applaud the idea more so than the app itself: the idea of giving users the ability to collaboratively create and update street maps in their own locales is nice, and the idea that it can be done to avoid the high priced agencies doing the same thing is nicer. Since getting this app, I've gone through and made huge changes to my local area to correct the maps at openstreetmap.org. I like the idea that projects like this can fund parties that seek to correct and complete maps to the point that they're generally usable is applaudable. Even if you don't get this app, give it a try, it's easier than you might think!
Worth $1.99 By: GadgetMaster - Aug 18, 2009 Version: 1.1 For $1.99, it's worth having. Yes, it's a little slow, interface can be improved, but it does turn-by-turn -- for $1.99!
It would get 2 or 3 stars from me if it cost more.
What I would like to see:
- let iPod play and just silence during direction.
- better map and poi pre-caching of local area and the whole route - so cell signal can be lost
- lat long data input and display
- continued interface improvement
- a region map/poi/routes download option (make it rodee pro for $9.99)
Good start!
Excellent in my area! (Kingston, Ontario, Canada) By: Buckwheeat - 29-Aug-2009 Version: 1.1 It finds my next location right away. Now i have only used it for about a week now, however it has worked perfectly so far. Smooth operation, looks great for the price, and its open source. My home street is very new and was not named on the iPhone map, I went to the web site updated the map and now it shows up. I have used it to travel to Toronto, Ottawa and several cities without the usage of major highways and it works great. I have not experienced what others are mentioning, what esle can I say, it works great for me.

For $2, it's a great GPS start. By: cl_cmae - 3-Jul-2009 Version: 1.0 If you're a Canadian, not a bad way to launch Turn by Turn on your iPhone (since there's no other choices yet). A quick test shows it working remarkably well. A few points - it doesn't have any points of interest (POIs) in my community, but with the Yellow Pages app and the ability to add to contacts, it's easy to work around. Wishlist for the app: ability to hear sound alerts prior to intersections (not only a vibration right AT the intersection); more POIs in Canada.
Does what it should and at a good price By: Peterporsche - 10-Aug-2009 Version: 1.1 Ok I am not sure what it is people are wanting from this app I mean it gets you from A to B and it does an ok job doing it.The update has helped alot and the voice makes a good app even better and at £1.19 what do you have to lose.
Mr By: Johnny Reb 2E0 BQE - 05-Aug-2009 Version: 1.1 Wow! At that price - A BARGAIN!
Very basic - but it works. Can't fault it!

Well done! By: Nddnk - 01-Aug-2009 Version: 1.1 I bought this app as my other half used our sat nav and I am very pleased, not like the big brothers, just received the update and was very please as you can choose from different maps and it has a direction voice now (just a bit quite, haven't worked out how to turn it up) For this price I think it's brill! Well done!

Great app at a great price By: joelc_wi - Aug 29, 2009 Version: 1.1 This application does great turn by turn GPS and I love the fact that it's built on open street maps. Being able to find and correct minor map issues is one of the great features of open street maps, and the fact this app builds on that platform was the chief reason I bought it.
Nav for $1.99 Cool ! By: Rad99004 - Aug 28, 2009 Version: 1.1 If your like me and are looking for a Nav app that will give you good turn by turn direction for a low price; you have found your app. This app has a few quirks but over all works very well. Support open source by buying this app and providing input. Just say No to Tom Tom for their $99.00 price who are they kidding !
Who cares if it's not the best By: AdamWillis - Aug 23, 2009 Version: 1.1 For $2 on a Open Source Project (usually means the community will only help it get even better) this App should have 5 stars across the board. Rather then vote this potentially great project down, go spend a butt load of money somewhere else and leave this one alone. I think it's good enough. Google maps is good enough, this is just a slight upgrade (for the iPhone).
This app is great, amazing work. By: notasheep - Aug 23, 2009 Version: 1.1 This app is great and should get the big GPS players scared. Support this app and it will only get better. My only wish for the app is that you can get a plain text view of the route instead of the graphic display (sometimes you just want the directions). Great work!
If it improves a littlle, it will be a five star for $2 By: biocop - Aug 21, 2009 Version: 1.1 I gave it 5 stars simply fir being open source and costing $2. If it keeps being improved it will be a 5 star easy for the money. POIs need the most work in the Green Bay area. Tom Tom take notice, charging $99 is ridiculous.
