This app has worked great for me, without crashes. I looked at it in my home in Seattle, and got Seattle. In Nanaimo, BC, it brought up Nanaimo. Further up the coast, in Schooner Cove, it took me right to Winchelsea Island, a mile away. So the GPS "where am I" feature is fine. Currents come up as well as tides. Great.
Ok, so it doesn't show sinusoidal tide curves (or if it does, I haven't figured it out yet), but it is a pretty complete substitute for the computer tide program on my boat.

I fish, boat, swim and go clamming on Cape Cod. This app gives me the tide and current information for all the tide and current stations in the area.
Perhaps other reviewers don't know that there is a standard list of tidal and currrent stations for which tides are predicted, based on empirical corrections for local tidal and current behavior. Although there are computer programs that try to predict tides and currents for locations other than those in this list, their predictions may be considerably in error because of local bathymetric constrictions such as islands, shoals, straits, etc.
On Cape Cod, there are about 25 of these stations that have published tide tables. The "Tides" app predictions cover all of these stations and agree within a minute of published times of high and low tide. The same is true of the current stations in the area.
I can't vouch for other areas of the USA, but in this area the Tides app is a 5 star value for me.

Good program! I am glad somebody has developed this for iPhone/iPod Touch! It would be nice to see a graphical representation of tide heights (on a chart) as opposed to just the high and low times. It would also be useful to be able to see information for a few months in advance as this can be a very handy planning tool for boat maintenance (determining the optimal time to take the boats out of the water, etc.). These two features would have bumped the rating from 4 to 5... I look forward to seeing an updated version - keep up the good work!

I originally rated this ap only one star, but have since changed my mind. I had problems with the ap not updating tides for the current day, i.e. ap displayed old tides. Figured out how to fix. Disable auto to select a different NOAA tide station than one selected by ap. Select the tidal station you want. Use this setting for a while, then go in and switch back to auto. Your selected station is kept and the new daily tides and sunrise/sunset are always updated. This is a great program. No graphs, just hi and low tides and sr/ss for each 24 he day. This ap has all tidal stations for eastern US. What more do you need?

This application does what it claims and does it well. I have used it in 3 states in the Northeast US and it picked up the location and local tides each time. The addition of currents sets it a step above similar programs. The complaints about the lack of choice of location are important. As noted below, unchecking "Auto" under Search allows you to do just that. The fact that this is not clear and intuitive is the fault of the developer, not the user (this is APPLE software, after all...). I would like improvements in the interface and a graphic display to match the logo in the next version. Keep up the good work.

This could really be great if some of the suggestions mentioned earlier (pick locations, dates/times etc) are added. But it will be useful now (dont have to keep multiple copies of the Fishing Planner around!) When I first installed, there was some issue getting the location correct, but it finally figured it out. The times for high and low tides is correct, but the tide levels are not. When I checked this out on the web site the app pulls the data from, there are two tide stations listed, and the first one is showing the wrong tides. So I guess the issue is there versus the app. This could really be a killer app... Great idea.

This works well and I'm quite happy with it. It presents a tide table fir numerous local points. It isn't obvious that green is for tides and yellow is for currents. But once you understand that then it makes sense. A cosmetic frill that would be a nice add-on would be to show the tide chart graph when the iPhone is tilted on it's side. (it's sometimes nice to visually see the waveform.) I appreciate the free applications like this. They took time for somebody to develop and then they just give them to others. That's a nice tjing. Thank you.

Great bas for an app, just needs some small fixes to be great. I fish....alot (at least alot more than my lady likes) and this is a great app for checking the tides. Biggest issue that holds this back (as others stated) is setting locations for tides/currents. I would also suggest as a possible "later down the road upgrade" to maybe add solar/lunar data as it affects tides/current also. This being a free app......thanks goes to the developer!

This is a good basic application which provides localised tide information and sunrise/sunset times. The latest update has corrected the few small problems it previously had. Now it's slick, easy to read and useful - and best of all, free!

Love this App. I have used it in Northern California and Hawaii. The sheer ability to stand on a beach and know what’s going on with the tide ‘where I’m standing’ is outstanding. It clearly displays the value of location based services. Great job.

You load this little ap. Turn it on. The first thing you are asked is whether you want to use the current location. Click "yes", and voila, you are instantly given low/high tide and sunrise/sunset information in about 2 seconds. Nice, clean, straightforward. What more could you ask for?

Use it before I go jet sking to see if tide is low that way I can launch my ski out of the water I use it every day almost. Would like to see them add a feature of how high the tide is at the exact moment like Aye tide has done.

I used this app for my vacation to WA state coast, worked great. No bells or whistles, just tide and sunset/rise info. All I needed and accurate.
