Works wonderfully for me  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: DogheadedReaper - Aug 22, 2009
Version: 1.6
I recently wrote an update for 1.31, but I kinda feel that I need to chime in about 1.32. I have had a very good experience with Google Reader integration. Every now and again I'll have a folder that shows 20 articles and when I open that folder there will be 22 new articles with one feed showing 20- that's the extent of the inconsistencies that I experience, and I don't miss articles. Starring and emailing links from Feeds works flawlessly. Each upgrade they issue smoothes things out and 1.32 is fast!
I think it's important to point out that occasionally these iPhone apps can get corrupted, either through iTunes or obscure OS bugginess (for which the developers generally end up getting blamed). In that case I merely uninstall Feeds and reinstall it- that !always! fixes the issue. The developer support for this app is outstanding!

Best RSS Reader I Have Used - Great Support  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: dclawyer - Aug 5, 2009
Version: 1.6
This is the best RSS reader I have used. The pages load quickly. I can shake the iPhone to switch between seeing only unread items and all items. The web browser works fine. I had a couple of questions and the developer answered very promptly with kindness and attention to question. If you want an RSS Reader this is the one to get. Much better than Google Reader in Mobile Safari -- much faster and much easier to read.

Very Nice Reader  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: MBR_Ariz - Jul 30, 2009
Version: 1.6
Feeds RSS reader is really outstanding. I have tried several free and $.99 reader apps, and this one is definitely my favorite. It has the features I expect from an RSS reader at this price: add your own feeds or use google reader, landscape mode, email articles, mark all read, return to a favorite article, and an excellent feed discovery/search to just name a few. I have not had any problems with slow loading (even on the edge network). Highly recommended!

Nice RSS App, but...  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: geauxvols - Jul 13, 2009
Version: 1.6
The feeds are notoriously slow in loading. It takes several minutes to load my Google Reader feed. I'd also like the ability to download a podcast directly via Feeds, but that's not a showstopper. Fix the performance issues, and this app gets a 5-star rating. UPDATE: The new version submitted today seems to have fixed the issues with feed synchronization. My only minor issue now is that I would like to be able to copy and paste from Feeds. (I use RSS quite a bit for blog material.) That said, I've edited my rating to 5-stars. Nice work, guys.

Best RSS app out there  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: Kyle Is Computing - Jun 29, 2009
Version: 1.55
I tried all the free RSS apps and two paid ones, and in my opinion this beats them all. It refreshes quickly, and the Google Reader integration works flawlessly. At LEAST as easy as Google Reader on my laptop display. The only thing I would add is the ability to view thumbnail previews along with text previews, because some of my feeds are image-only sites (e.g., Flickr), but I have not seen that feature anywhere else, either.

Gone steadily downhill  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: Phenobarbarella - Jun 22, 2009
Version: 1.55
**UPDATE 1.3.2, March 30, 2009** I'm unfortunately finding myself in agreement with many of the other recent reviewers: Feeds has lost most of its former glory. Syncing is much, MUCH slower than several releases ago, feed counts are inaccurate - but intermittently so: sometimes it will work correctly, sometimes not. You just never know. And that's frankly difficult to live with, if you do a lot of news reading. I feel like someone who's stated in a bad relationship far longer than I should have, because I can remember when things were great, and I have hope they could be again. But I think that ship has sailed. This developer either won't (for whatever reason) or CAN'T (which is starting to seem increasingly likely) fix the problems which remain. I may check in again in a few months to see if anything's changed, nut for now, both my time and the real estate on my iPhone's front page are too valuable to spend any more of on Feeds. If you're looking for a first RSS app - or the best one - pass this by, at least for now. **UPDATE 1.1, January 25, 2009** I'm upping my 4-star rating to 5. Why? Because the 1.1 update makes the G-reader sync MUCH faster. Waaay faster than Byline or, in fact, any other news reader I've used. And the stability is excellent. Get this one; you won't want another. So why did I only give it four stars? I'll get to that in a moment. First, here's what Feeds does RIGHT: Feeds is the first RSS reader for the iPhone which is both speedy and stable enough to be usable, as well as flexible enough to meet most people’s needs. And it doesn't hurt that it's pretty attractive, too! Feeds has an excellent landscape format. Also, I love the ability to change “skins,” In the functionality department, the categorization into folders is very welcome, as is the "mark all as read" feature, which I would have thought would be one of the most very basic features of ANY RSS reader, but which strangely has seemed to be nonexistent in many iPhone RSS apps (not sure why). And oh yeah - the fact that Feeds works swiftly and doesn’t crash all the time is pretty nice, too ;o) The only major missing feature I can think of (and the only thing which kept Feeds from receiving five stars from me) would be one the developer already has in development, apparently: sync with an online feed system. I have dozens of feeds, and for me, if I’ve spent a half-hour or more reading them on my home computer, and then I go out, I don’t want to have to re-delete from my iPhone all the ones I already read at home, because they aren’t marked as read in my iPhone reader app. This was the one killer feature of a couple of the other leading iPhone RSS apps. Unfortunately, all of the other apps which DO allow this feature have other problems which render them - for me - anywhere from clunky to nearly unusable/unstable. I don’t know if you’ve considered or investigated the possibility of having choices of syncs - the three I can think of would be Bloglines, Google and NewsGator/NetNewsWire, but if a way could be worked out to offer a choice of entering in account information for any of those three, you would have a world-beater of an app on your hands. Feeds is already arguably the strongest and most flexible app currently available, but that would make it untouchable. One other minor feature? An OPML-upload feature (through a browser), like one or two of the other RSS apps would allow people who don’t have (or don’t want to) subscribe to online services like Google or NewsGator to be able to quickly and easily upload what might be (like me) dozens of feeds, without having to laboriously enter them one at a time in Feeds (using the iPhone’s small virtual keyboard). But these are merely wish-list items. For now, GREAT work! Best RSS app available currently!

I was harsh before.  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: jbrandonf - May 9, 2009
Version: 1.5
V1.5 Update ----First off, to the dumbass who gave Feeds a 1-star because it wasn't compatible with firmware 3.0, you deserve to have it break on you. How can you punish the guy with 1 star when the app doesn't officially support the next firmware edition? Now I immediately noticed that Feeds is more stable than ever. I've had not ONE crash since I've started reusing it, even while loading graphic intensive pages in the built in browser. Feeds offers extensive settings for customizing how you want the app to function. The app startup time seems like it has been decreased so honestly I do not mind the splash screen so much anymore. My only request is that you bring the sync bar back! It gave it more of a consistent interface with Mail that I loved. I had only one issue with syncing, it kept saying I had unread posts and nothing was showing up so I went to Settings > Feeds > Google Reader and flicked reset to on and everything fixed itself. This app won out over Byline because Byline's syncing was treacherously slow. And the icon was stupid. You won me back.

New version is almost perfect  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: stevies phone - Feb 27, 2009
Version: 1.31
This was the first app I actually paid for. It was good, got bad, was great, got worse and is now great again. The only three things I wish for is the ability to organize the feeds from a google reader account, the abilty for app store links to work without having to view in safari and the auto sizing of images to fit the width of the screen. Currently the feeds are alphabetical no matter how they are organized in google reader and app store links go to nowhere. Love it for now!!!

Impressive App & great support blog  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: Sylanel - 3-Nov-2009
Version: 1.72
I hesitated for a long time before picking an RSS reader I'd pay for. I used NetNewsWire since I have bought my iPhone. Ultimately, I almost went to Byline when I saw Feeds updated to version 1.11. I was impressed by everything that was fixed and/or added. I started to read reviews that were very positive and went to Prime31 blog. I was then amazed at how involved with their customers they were. That kind of support is what convinces me right away. I bought the App and I am so very glad. It works amazingly well and fast. Keep up the good work guys.

Has a lot of potential  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: dmbin - Jan 30, 2009
Version: 1.11
Looks and works great. A few more features and I will be hooked.
- show number of new entries next to each feed name
- have a 'mark all read' button for all feeds and for each individual feed

- use apple's update server to update the feeds realtime
- have settings section where font size can be changed as well as the time interval between automatically updating the feeds
- have banner on the corner of the feeds icon that has the number of new feed entries (just like the mail app does with new mail)

Feeds  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: News-a-holic - Sep 27, 2008

Love this. It's the best of the lot I've wasted time sifting through, certainly better than anything free, and well worth the modest cost. Adding feeds is dead easy. I have just one little request. My tired old eyes have trouble reading the tiny little numbers in the bubbles telling me how many new items are available in a feed. It would really help me if feeds with unread items had a different color, say an eye-catching red, from those with none. Or make it configurable, for those with with color blindness issues.

Most used app on my iPod  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: LordMeg - Sep 17, 2008

I love love love this app. I'm yet to find a feed it doesn't work with and I've discovered lots of new feeds just by using the app and browsing around. I probably use this app more than any other and even have several of my friend's blog updates connected to it. It works great and I've never had a problem with it. Load the app... read the news... look at lolcats... read daily comics all on the go. Worth every cent I paid for it and more.

Best RSS Reader, Hands Down!!!  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: rmsutton - Sep 15, 2008
Version: 0.95
This is the first review I have ever written for an iPhone app. I have downloaded dozens of apps thus far and never wrote a single review, but somehow I felt compelled to write a review for this app, so here it goes…
I have been an avid blog reader for the past few years. Coming from a BlackBerry 8330 (to the iPhone of course), I used to use a program called Viigo (a free RSS reader) to stay up to date with my feeds. Ever since I made the jump to the iPhone, I have been looking for something to fill that void. I must admit that I have not tried all of the other RSS readers for the iPhone, except for a few free ones. Although, the few readers that I did try seemed to lack the basic functionality I was looking for, until recently.
So far, Feeds is the only application that is worthy of the one available slot on my home screen! If you are an avid blog reader (such as myself) and you are looking for a solid app with a clean UI then this is the one!!!
Pros:
• Excellent feed search, best implementation I’ve seen thus far
• App Icon is consistent with other native iPhone icons, shows the number of unread items just like the email icon does
• Clean interface that is consistent with native pre-loaded iPhone apps (Mail, Contacts, SMS, etc).
• Multiple color schemes to choose from (Green, Blue, Black & Orange)
• Ability to ‘star’ items, very similar to Gmail’s star feature
Cons:
• Not enough preset feeds, there are a lot of RSS feeds out there and there should be way more presets to choose from
• “View Page” feature is unstable, although this is a known issue and has been documented in the app description
Also, I think it is worth mentioning that the two cons on my list are extremely minimal. The first one has been easily overcome by the outstanding search feature. I have been able to search for feeds that are not in the preset list and easily subscribe to them with just a few taps.
With that said, the application has far surpassed my expectations and I’m certain that the developers will be enhancing the application in future updates.
To the developers, I must say that you guys have done a wonderful job with this app. It’s a phenomenal start and I look forward to future updates. I know that I have mentioned Viigo ealier in this review as I have used it for almost 2 years and it was an excellent product. If you guys can get your hands on a copy of it, I suggest looking at their implementation. There are a few things that we can all learn from them as they have been in the game for a while and they have pretty much nailed it down perfectly.
Aside from that, here are few suggestions that I think will make this app even better than it already is.
• App should provide the ability to read the entire feed item. At times the RSS feed is simply a preview of the full article. It would be nice to be able to click “View full article” and have the app download the rest of the article in plain text without having to click “View Page” which can be slow and unstable at times. Viigo does this by downloading the article from it's URL, stripping out any HTML tags (with a simple RegEx) and displaying it as plain text.
• App should provide the ability to automatically delete old feed items if there is no more space for new feed items. For example, if I have reached my preset limit for a particular feed (say 400 items), the application should delete the oldest feed items (read items first, then unread items) to free up space for new items.
• “Items per feed” should have a “No Limit” option, although I’m not sure if the iPhone SDK will permit this as their may be a limit on the amount of physical memory each app can consume.
• Provide the ability to specify the duration each read/unread feed item should be kept for. For example, Keep all feed items for: 5 days, 10 days, 20 days, Forever, etc
• Browsable feeds should be broken down into categories and subcategories rather than having them all bunched up on one page. I should be able to drill down into feed categories and subcategories until I find the feed I’m looking for (similar to how the iPod app lets you select a song - Artist >> Album >> Song)
• Add a “View Page in Safari” option to load the feed in Safari
Thank you for creating this wonderful app, I use it every day and I absolutely love it!
Keep up the great work!
-Randy

Clean, efficient UI, fast  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: Welchwold - Sep 14, 2008
Version: 0.95
Overall this is one of my favorite readers.
One issue I see is that if the feed list is just a little longer (too many items) than the iPhone screen will hold, it is impossible to select the last feed. You have to scroll up to see it, but as soon as you take your finger off the display it scrolls back (hidden). Might be an Apple problem?
In any case, I would love to see the following additions.
1. The total unread in each category shown with each category name.
2. A "Home" button to take you back to the top-level feed list. Perhaps a little house icon like in OmniFocus (iPhone app).
3. An option (preference switch) to automatically take you "home" after marking all read.
4. An option (preference switch) to show/not show the count when the count is zero. (Spotting a non-zero count easier if zero counts were not shown.)
Thanks.

Very nice app!  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: knownzero - Sep 13, 2008
Version: 0.95
I was using NetNewsWire and since their latest update pretty much killed the program I had to look elsewhere. This program works very well so far, definately worth paying for. I would like to see a way to sync multiple devices feeds instead of having to set up each device individually (one of the better features of NetNewsWire). Also, when searching under Discover a better description of what the feeds are and their originating site instead of just 'world news' (which is actually the feed for Univision.com Noticias) under News/World. There's no way to know until you install that feed.

Title  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader

So I just tested the "offline" capability. There is an error in reporting, you can read 'starred' items offline, but not all items are available offline.
*******edit*******
I just updated to the newest version of this app, and it's wonderful! It does work offline now (except pictures when I tested), it updates often, and was VERY easy to add feeds. Purchase this one, it rocks! For the $2 it costs, it is more than well worth it!

Simple, clean interface and good support  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: Tad Davis - Sep 11, 2008
Version: 0.95
It's clean, it's simple, it does exactly what it's supposed to. I was able to replace a couple of other news apps by tying into selected feeds with this one. I had a problem adding some feeds, which I reported to the developer, and the problem was fixed in about 12 hours. With the newly-added ability to organize feeds into folders, and the count of unread articles, it's even better. (The app also promises the ability to view full articles in the app, rather than forcing you to switch to Saafari; but it warns you that the app may be less stable if you turn that option on.)

Great App For News Junkies  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: damosal - Aug 18, 2008
Version: 0.93
What a great app this is. It does what it says and for only one dollar you can have access to hundreds of RSS feeds and news reads throughout the day. I specialize in scientific journals, anthropology and archaeology, and I was able to pick up a sufficient number of feeds in my field to keep me up to date. Its a great way to ready your news throughout the day.
The interface is clean, simple, and has great search qualities. Some pre set feeds, and the ability to search by subject, name, or site.
Excellent product. A dollar very well spent!

Glitchy upgrade - fixed  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: catvincent - 30-Sep-2009
Version: 1.71
Version 1.71 has fixed all the glitches I mentioned originally- so rating goes up to 5 stars The new upgraded version adds a lot of potential to this already useful app... or it would if it actually worked. The addition of arranging tabs was something I was waiting for - but no matter what order you arrange them in, the app forgets it - sometimes while it is still open, always when opening the app. It also doesn't always remember which stories have been read. It is still a fine RSS reader and once these glitches are fixed will deserve another star.

Easy to add feeds!  rating of Feeds - RSS Reader
By: Mike1261 - Aug 7, 2008
Version: 0.91
I love how easy it is to add feeds. I can search, and all my favorite feeds were available without looking up the RSS URL's on my computer first. I was surprised that it was $0.99. That other reviewer whining about it being "fail" because it's not free should go and write an app themselves before they whine about price. I sure as heck wouldn't write a free app for the iPhone, especially not a good one. It gets kinda boring and monotonous reading posts by kids complaining about $0.99. I'd gladly pay $4.99 for a good RSS reader. If you can't afford $1 then maybe you shouldn't be buying luxury items like an iPhone.
