Replaced 5 other apps! By: sdeetz - Sep 30, 2009 Version: 1.2 This is the best news app period.
I was using AP News, USA Today, NY Times, CNN, and Fox News apps. This one app has all of those news feeds in one app! And to avoid duplicate stories taking up too much space, they even group similar stories, and show you how many related news feeds have stories on that same topic. Awesome.
Plus, many of those others apps had lots of fluff I never use, and all that extra fluff took up screen space so that you could only see 3 stories at a time on the page. This app is straight news and no fluff. So you get more stories on each page.
Well done guys!
Big Fave *Update* By: Mosscow - Oct 26, 2009 Version: 1.3 ***New Request*** =~Can we add Newsweek & Time Magazine feeds as well? Then you'd be unstoppable!!! THXI love Fluent for the aggregation of different feeds & sources - that alone is brilliant... Trim, fast - efficient... I do have a couple of requests:-*New Request* Posting to Tumblr blog & ability to add a caption! Pleaseeee? The Tumblr audience is growing fast...- Ability to change the font size!- When sharing with Twitter, please include the ability to shorten the link with tinyurl, is.gd, etc - having a giant link with no room for comments is kinda harsh...Thanks, & keep up the great work!

Informative, intuitive, entertaining app... By: Divinejacqueline - Nov 16, 2009 Version: 1.3 Excellent app that delivers content even when not directly connected to Internet. Unlike other apps that won't even load if there is no data connection available, fluent stores content from your last foray into the data stream. Thus enabling the user to read the news while traveling and no connection is available. Content runs the gamut from the mundane to the sublime, allowing the user to decide between the two.

Fluent News Delivers Where Others Fail By: Apprentice B - Sep 10, 2009 Version: 1.2 At the end of the day, here's why Fluent News is better than the rest of the news applications. - caches stories for later perusal: I have read news continuously for an hour on a plane because Fluent News, unlike any other app, caches stories. - saved searches: these are essentially smart, personalized news folders. You can always see the latest news on topics of your choice. - great formatting without leaving the app: no text-pinching. No leaving the app to Safari. You read the news inside the app from a formatted-for-mobile source. - great news sources: I am normally a NYTimes reader, but with Fluent, I have learned to love the Washington Post, LA Times, and even a little USA Today!
Way better than the AP News app By: Emory-1701 - Aug 25, 2009 Version: 1.1 As easy as it is to go on to Safari and go to to Google News, I find this a smoother equivalent that allows offline reading of stories. It grabs from many different news sources, which I like better than AP's app, and it displays them quickly in a text only format, which is much better than Google News that does no reformatting. Some stories do have pictures with them, but this does not slow the speed of the downloads. The ability to save stories for reading later is great for subway riders. You can quickly pick stories of interest, save them, then look at them later when your on the train or somwhere with out an internet connection. The only thing that would make it better is if you could pick categories to save automatically whenever the app is turned on. A small wish but overall a great program
Great news app. By: Targatop - Jul 29, 2009 Version: 1.1 I'm a news junkie, and I never really trust one source for the news. Unlike trying to read the news through one site, or one RSS reader, this brings in full articles with pictures, optimized for the mobile experience. That means fast reading of articles without waiting for full HTML pages to load. Many other apps have a "read more" button somewhere, and then take you to the full HTML site of the news provider. This is slow, and inconvenient. Fluent News solves that problem. It's an app that I use daily, and it has replaced many of the dedicated news apps on my phone.
Great idea, now beautifully implemented! By: Tad Davis - Jul 29, 2009 Version: 1.1 This update fixes all the complaints I had about the previous version. Download, scrolling speed, and backup are now all faster than greased lightning. The aggregation makes it easy to tap into a variety of perspectives on a single story. Each category (Top News, World, Technology, etc) gives you 20-30 stories, most of them with alternative coverage a single tap away. My all-time favorite news app. I honestly don't know how it could be better. (There are simple one-line ads distributed here and there through the scrolling list of headlines. I find them unobtrusive and am very happy to have them if it gets me this kind of coverage.)
Homepage worthy! My favorite news app By: cammicy - Jul 28, 2009 Version: 1.1 I'm so happy with the update. Before, even with it's laggy performance, I liked it more than all my other news apps because it brings in all the top headlines together (without all the 'clutter' news of other apps). However, I wished the load times were faster, emailing was easier, and that I could save articles to read for later. Now with the update all my wishes have been addressed! Maybe now just a paid version for ad-free access? A slicker design? Anyway, thank you developers
(If you are having trouble updating this app, I suggest deleting it off your phone and reinstalling it. I had to do that before it would work for me.)

Best news app on the iPhone By: karenjillong - Jun 30, 2009 Version: 1.0 I just tried Fluent News and I must say it's way better than all other news apps I've tried. It loads super quickly and only shows me mobile-friendly pages. I used to use the NY Times app and really hated how buggy and slow it was. Fluent is definitely better. Not to mention the fact that it aggregates news from many sites instead of just showing one source. It also does the aggregation in an intelligent way, so I don't see every piece of news with the same topic. It only shows me a topic once and then shows me all related ones later on. Love this app!
Great app! By: eylee - Jun 30, 2009 Version: 1.0 I have AP Mobile, BBCReader, NYTimes, Bloomberg and USA Today apps on my iPhone and this app replaces most of them. Now I can get my news from one app and I reduce the number of apps I have. Love the 'related' button that gives you related news stories. Don't mind the ad but it would be nice to control the number of preview lines displayed (I can't read them anyway). Would like a full screen version to maximize the number of news items visible. Would like a news 'playlist', and be able to organize news items by source, by type, etc. Great app and an excellent start!

Stop looking for RSS / News apps! By: MrWinky - Oct 30, 2009 Version: 1.3 I have never cared to submit a detailed review before because not one app has made that much a difference before. And if you are like me - no matter how good an app is I look for the next best thing! But Fluent news is an exception for me, I seek no other and so I must write a review. There are a thousand RSS readers out there and dedicated news source apps. In my opinion what makes Fluent News the best?- It's the only news program that is pulling from relevant sources (i.e. Not your quirky, kinky blogs masquerading as news sources). These are quotable news sources. - If I can only run one app a day this is it. You want to know what's happening in the US or World, 10 minutes with Fluent News is all you need. I mean - how many people can read the entire RSS feed of NyTimes or Washington Post or ... and all the rest.- If I want headlines - they have everything I need and if I require even more detail I can select by categories or go to the source - quickly fro Fluen News. - The interface (summary or detailed) is rich, appealing, stunning, smooth and really fast graphically. So where other RSS or News apps are one trick ponies with compromises - fast vs bad graphics, slow or fast generic & unselective, grouping of "similar" stories, cool hip blogs that are entertaining but not informative or have a single slant. Who has enough time of the day to read all of it. I certainly don't. Hence fluent news!!!! Think google news but in a fast, smart good looking app!Kudos to Fluent News.
Dowloads hours worth of quality news for online and offline reading By: pgk2008 - Oct 11, 2009 Version: 1.2 I've been using this for keeping up with the news on long flights, and the sheer volume of news that is downloaded simply can't be beat - at least as far as I can tell. I had no idea how much quality journalism I was missing just skimming over Google News. This is now my go to news app, after the sluggish AP app and the great but single-source NYT app. Some suggestions: - The CNN stories don't work offline, but instead show a partially rendered navigation menu. I think CNN Money does work. - several sources contain formatting code throughout the text, for example for apostrophes etc - In some sources spaces are missing between some words, presumable due to removed line breaks. Please make sure that automated line break removal results in at least a single space between words - When reading offline, I don't need to see all those 'image not available' icons on the page - I know I'm offline. Perhaps simply remove those if wifi and cellular are not available? - It would be nice if we could switch between sections by left/right swiping the section title (top bar). Doesn't conflict with any other functionality - It would be nice if 'search' could also search offline content. - It seems like content from sections other than 'top' news is only downloaded once a non 'top news' section is opened. Please make an option to always download all sections. - Some status info on the downloading would be nice. Maybe a progress indication in the status bar? Initially I had no clue that multiple sections were being downloaded. - Maybe include some tiny icon with news articles that have not yet been downloaded. It becomes bothersome to step into an article, only to find out that it's not been downloaded. Maybe a small gray downward arrow, or a little 'wifi' icon after the last word of the title? Or conversely, a little 'floppy disk' icon for downloaded articles. Despite all those suggestions, I love this app already, and it's steadily making its way to my 'page one' apps.
