Reviews:
An excellent digital version of the FT! By: Numair @ numair.com - Nov 18, 2009 Version: 1.1 People commenting on the FT's price need to realize that they aren't in the target demo for the product, and should avoid leaving comments that show their lack of intellect. For those of us who happily spend more money on quality information than on junk food, the FT continues to provide a valuable service. I'm glad to see my subscription fees have been put to use to create such a great iPhone app! Very useful.

Great App!!! (v1.0) By: Virtualeug - Jul 25, 2009 Version: 1.0 I have been waiting for this app to come out. I get FT at home and on the web. Often by the time I see the newspaper, I have already read the news on FT.com which btw has the same reading limits. For those who are complaining about reading limits, try buying a subscription. WSJ and NYT offer free web based content as part of their business model, so naturally they bring same content to iPhone free of charge. FT is a premium content provider from UK, and all good things cost money.
worth paying for By: lecrunch - 12-Aug-2009 Version: 1.1 So its 'content wants to be free' vs 'people who prefer to rely on quality content'. Once you get past the issue of paying for something that might actually have some value it's a brilliant app, intuitive and well thought out. Market data in particular makes great use of iphone/touch display capabilities. Portfolio is on a par with Bloomberg but the real difference is the content itself - news is a commodity quality comment and analysis is not.

Finally! By: London FT user - 20-Jul-2009 Version: 1.0 I use the FT mobile application on my Blackberry and have been eagerly waiting for the iphone application. Worth it - great application that really allows you to use the FT services especially if you are a subscriber. Makes good use of the iphone's large screen and effectively uses the landscape mode. And allows useful analysis on my portfolio on the FT site. All in all, a great news and portfolio app.
Fantastic By: TheOriginalG - 19-Jul-2009 Version: 1.0 Very rarely am I compelled to write a review. In this case I have made an exception due to the bad ratings this app has received to date. I can only assume these refer (mostly) to older versions. As for the current version, well, what can I say, it is absolutely fantastic. The developers have clearly put in real thought as to how best to design the app to take advantage of the iPhone interface. The result is a flawless news reading experience. Very well done. Highly recommended.
Possibly the best of the newspaper web apps By: peterwg - 23-Jul-2009 Version: 1.0 Simply beautiful layout for the small screen. Fast loading, compact story summaries. Comfortably-sized story reader without any screen clutter by reached by rotating the phone (it fades to rotated rather than visibly rotates -- a nice simplifying touch). Well-designed help messages and well-integrated drop-menus. Lovely, informative market charts that can be refocussed with a pinch gesture. Seems to eschew (an FT word!) images. Access (if you're a subscriber) to most of (all of?) the paper including regional editions. After a few hours use I would say that the user experience is better than the FT website (the iPhone site with minimal ads loads a lot faster, layout is more consistent). Even better, IMHO, than the also-well-made NYT and WSJ apps.
Don't follow WSJ By: Flavius Marcianus - Nov 20, 2009 Version: 1.1 1. Some form of mark/track read articles 2. More options, especially to customize what can be read, etc. 3. Macromap...let us zoom in, or at least add some markets. Very clean&smooth, one of the few not-so-buggy apps....would give 5 for full access, but at least it's ad-free. Hope FT doesn't follow the footsteps of WSJ, because Murdoch's putting too much emphasis on profitability.
I love having the FT on my iPhone By: John_Corey - Aug 13, 2009 Version: 1.1 I an a regular reader of the FT. Having direct access from an iPhone app makes it even better. One thing I would like is the ability to post directly to Twitter. AP has an app and there is a very simple way to share an article (headline plus a link). If the FT could add something similar I would be a more regular user of the app. As to the specific app. I find it loans very quickly. The layout is good to great. The sections tend to match the physical FT or the FT.com website. That helps me navigate given I know the alternative formats. I am holding back on the 5 star rating given the business decision to limit access. I am a registered user but not a subscriber (fee involved). Hence I get access to 10 articles a month. WSJ, AP, NYTimes all use a different business model. Note that I have been a subscriber to the FT.com before plus I have been a WSJ.com subscriber since they launched the fee based website. Well done overall.

Great app By: peterphwu - 17-Jul-2009 Version: 1.0 Fast, responsive, takes advantage of iPhone's best features. Content is incredibly relevant and covers all essential areas of interest for the global investor. I used to rely on Bloomberg but will be using this more going forward as it is a much better written and implemented.

FT Application -- Welcome Companion to the Daily FT Hard-copy By: BISHKEK - Oct 13, 2009 Version: 1.1 For anyone who enjoys each day the well-written information and analysis as well as the global perspective of the FT, this application is a welcome companion. I appreciated too the ability to shift from the US perspective, which seems to be the only perspective covered by most major US meida, to that of the UK, Asia, etc. Nice to know that there is a world beyond our shores.
Well done By: Archy2020 - Aug 13, 2009 Version: 1.1 Don't complain if you don't subscribe. This app is packed full of relevant information and tools you can't find anywhere else.
Fantastic app By: Stillnew - Aug 7, 2009 Version: 1.0 This is an absolutely wonderful app! Don't complain because you don't subscribe. If you don't subscribe, you should. The best news is worth paying for.
