I am a long time user of Manifesto. I have tried Feeds, ProRSS, etc and this one beats them all. Extremely fast sync and truly syncs with google reader marking those feeds read as well. Very impressed. Looking forward to the folder upgrades the dev has mentioned as well. Only thing I would like to see is when you select All Feeds is that it have the ability to sort by group and have the group name as a header above each (like Manifesto's aggregate view). 5* app

After being pretty much completely impressed with the free version I was really keen to upgrade the full/paid version. It ended up being a version behind the free one forcing me to get all pouty. The app store has since approved the paid version and, I must say, this us a great little app.I used to use Feeds all the time but found that syncing with my Google account too slow.Thanks for a great app! It sits on my front page. :^)</steelie>

I've tried almost any RSS reader in the appstore and MobileRSS is simply the best here. The last update is great, performance is fast and stable, and the UI is real usable and nice. If you are looking for an app like this, go MobileRSS, it won't make you disapointed.I just hope they change the app's icon to better match with the iPhone UI. The current icon looks cheap and ugly. It may make others skip to look at the app without knowing the true value.

This has replaced Byline, NNW and NewsStand - it's incredibly fast and is almost identical to the native Google Reader mobile site in terms of functionality. I'm not the biggest fan of the UI but it's simple and works. Wish I could adjust the font size of lists and RSS feeds so I can see more when I click on a folder or subscription. Landscape option would be nice but not neccesary (for me). Speed is everything though and this is just as fast (if not faster) than Byline.

UPDATE 15 Sept 09: 1.0.1 is a great update. This app got better and the developers have responded to some of the reviewers, especially by incorporating Instapaper integration. Thank-you very much.
There are a couple of improvements I think still need improving, one of which I have mentioned in an earlier review:
1. The ability to download and view only unread items and the option of viewing all unread items in a folder or feed (not just 25 or so at a time).
2. When I sync, I'd like to download items and not just unread counts (which it does quickly).
This app keeps improving and is worth the money paid.
This app is visually very appealing, very fast and stable. I have a few suggestions to make this app even better:
1. Instapaper and ReadItLater integration (done)
2. The option to view unread items only (and stop the app from downloading items I have already read). Although all starred, shared and noted items should be displayed at all times.
3. The ability to unshare and unstar items from items list. At the moment you have to open the item to unshare and unstar.
I've been using Feeds or the web app, but this will soon become my RSS app of choice if these suggestions are adopted.
This app has the potential to be the best Google Reader app available. Well done!

I agree with the previous review, as it keeps crashing after it downloads the feeds!! So I can not read my feeds! Dear developer and with all due respect, shouldn't you at least try the app yourself before releasing it? Or even when u know that customers are complaining then u should fix the error?? I am really fed up from buying apps and becoming a beta tester for them! You pay money to expect something to work and it does not ! Do not buy this app until the developer fixes this crashing problem and states that fix in an update. Been using gazatte for a long while and for the most part its been good, but mobileRSS is pretty great, enough that I moved to it. (also tried byline and about 5 others.)
It loads fast, nice interface. Has a all unread items and other neat features I was missing.
My only issue right now is not having a mark all as read. This ia huge one though, to need to click and open 200 plus feeds is painful.
Otherwise really great app!

This is a great rss reader for Google Reader users. It does exactly what it should with a simple, elegant interface and makes reading feeds really enjoyable! Thank you for making this great app!
The only issue I've had is a consistent crash after attempting to sync the subscription list after deleting a few subs from the full browser version. Add a way to manage subscriptions from the app and fix the crash, and this is a full 5-star RSS app!

Best rss/google reader for 3Gs

Update: I recently upgraded to an iPhone 3Gs and have found mobilerss to function properly. It is a very promising rss app and has replaced byline on my phone. I have revised my rating from 1 star to 4. There are still some issues with usability and functionality, mentioned in many other reviews, that keep it from being perfect but it is close. The issues regarding the developer I write about below are still true but I feel the app itself is worthy of an objective rating. ----------------------------------------------Original review----------------------------------------------App doesn't work on 1G iPhone, dev refuses to refundThis app has never worked on my first generation iPhone. Crashes immediately after starting. Dev told me to wait for an update that would fix the crash. I waited and waited and finally an update was issued…and it STILL CRASHED. I then requested a refund. My request wad ignored. I contacted them again and they replied days later that I should send them my private OPML file. I didn't pay $4.99 to be a beta tester. Buyer BEWARE. If this app doesn't meet your expectations, or doesn't function at all which was my experience, the developer will not refund your purchase.

UPDATE 2: The lags are gone! The new version is much more fluid, and generally more stable, with far fewer crashes and no pauses when switching from list to article and back. Huge, huge improvement! Only the lack of a landscape view is keeping this from being a 5-star app. If they can swing that, this app has a shot at being the best RSS reader for iPhone; it's already worthy competition for NetNewsWire.

The app is generally very quick, except for frequent pauses when switching from articles back to lists. Pauses can be a few seconds before the app becomes responsive again. I have about 200 feeds and average about 1800 messages unread each time I use the app, so I may be taxing it a little, but the pauses really marr an otherwise good user experience.
There are a few quibbles: Popular functions are buried in a couple places. Having to go into a menu to Mark All Read means you shouldn't also require a confirmation dialog once you've chosen to do so, there's really no way you could have clicked it accidentally. It's not obvious what a couple of the button icons mean. Starred items should show as starred in lists. Unstarring items is not an obvious process. Deleting notes should be possible with a swipe, like a regular edit list, not need two button clicks.
All in, this isn't the best experience I've had with rss on the iPhone, but it has the potential to be best-of-breed if the pauses can be fixed and the user interface gets just a little more fluid.
UPDATE: Been using this for a few weeks now, and my initial impressions seem to be holding up: beautiful user interface, but terribly slow with lots of lag in the UI. I hope the developers address this. The new NetNewsWire isn't as pretty, but it's much smoother and faster.

I really like this app and it is the most used app on my iPhone and the new update with Read It Later integrated is a great feature BUT the latest version is much more unreliable as far as subscribing/unsubscribing to various feeds for some strange reason. I wrote the creator of the app and still have not heard back. I am hoping this issue gets resolved real soon otherwise I would easily give it five stars without blinking an eye!!
