Description:
AutoStitch makes wide-angle photography a reality on the iPhone, allowing multiple images to be combined into a seamless panorama. No user input is required other than selecting the photos to be combined. This award-winning technology is available for the first time ever on a mobile device. AutoStitch is the only app that can stitch images in any order or arrangement. With state-of-the-art algorithms that automatically recognize overlapping images, AutoStitch makes capturing great panoramas easy, fast, and fun. To get started, simply snap some overlapping photos that are taken from the same location. AutoStitch will automatically align and blend your images, creating a seamless wide-angle panorama. You can combine two or three photos to achieve the effect of a wide-angle lens, or up to 20 or more images to create stunning panoramas. Reviews:
Wonderful Panoramas By: kem63 - Jun 15, 2009 Version: 1.0 I have purchased two other panorama apps from the store but both disappointed me with their lack of stability (cause crashes with the iPhone OS version I am using) and lack of flexibility. AutoStitch just works. Throw a bunch of photos at it, and it stitches them together. I am thoroughly impressed with the results which are beautiful. I would recommend this application to anyone who wants an easy way to make very cool panoramas from the iPhone. Really wish I had this when I visited Beijing and the Great Wall last year...
Fantastic stiching app! By: Joe Bella - Jun 12, 2009 Version: 1.0 I've been using Pano to stich my photos together, and this app is far far better. Pano produced nice results, but you had to be pretty careful to make sure the pictures picture is properly lined up with the previous shot. With autostich, you can just go crazy with the camera and autostich will figure it out. Sure the resulting picture has a funny shape, but that is what the crop tool in iPhoto is for. This app is well worth the $2.
PERFECT - but could be even perfecter... By: MoodyArch - Oct 23, 2009 Version: 1.1.2 Thank you for a great SIMPLE UI that does a better job than any stitching program I've used on my mac. It saves me valuable time so I can work on something else while the app makes the composite - without my help. I would also suggest some improvements that would make it even more valuable:1. High res output option for printable quality images2. Options to leave individual images in the original proportions & turn on/off blurred transitions. See David Hockney's photomontages... 3. Option to force stitching even when the app doesn't want to - open it up to experimentation!4. Manual arrangement option - see #2 aboveThat's it - thank you for a great app and a helluva deal. Hope to see even more in later versions...
Great app!! By: Beaugart - Oct 18, 2009 Version: 1.1.2 This app is great! Not only will it stitch horizontally or vertically, it will do multiple rows/columns to make a larger picture. Keep in mind: don't rotate your body; rotate the phone. Pay attention to the brightness and darkness of your photos... If some are bright and others are dark, you may not get the intended result. The more images you take, the better the picture. I cannot wait to take pictures on my next outing!!
FINALLY... an image stitching application that WORKS!! By: Sibelius-DLG - Jun 8, 2009 Version: 1.0 I've downloaded my share of various stitching applications for the iPhone, and most all of them work, but not the way I 'expect' a stitching application to work. I'm used to the professional desktop stitching applications -- that render beautiful pictures with correct exposure and seamless stitches. I've always been disappointed in the stitching offerings for the iPhone -- as they don't correct for the various exposures from one image to the other, and the seams are pretty crude (some of them look like a three year old cut a bunch of photos up and glued them together). AutoStitch has done what all the others failed to do -- create a pain-free application that can take a variety of images and stitch them together to create a seamless image. Other applications have limitations -- you can only stitch a certain number of images together; they have to be all vertical or all horizontal; if the exposure isn't the same on all the photos you'll be able to see the obvious stitch line; etc. Not with AutoStitch. You can mix and match any number of vertical and/or horizontal images -- of any exposure... and still get a wonderful final image with no obvious stitch lines. The exposure compensation and blending is probably what excites me the most. As a test, I took a series of photos in my office with the lights off (just a little bit of outside light creeping in through the blinds and the light coming from my very large LCD monitor). Obviously the iPhone increased the exposure on the dark areas of the room to make them visible, but it lowered the exposure of the monitor (since it was a bright light source). Then I stitched the photos together by simply selecting all the photos from my photo album and the results were amazing. Even with the extreme difference in exposure between the shots, AutoStitch handled the alignment, distortion, stitching, and exposure adjustments very well. And that's a harsh test case -- so just imagine how wonderful your pano-photos will render when they're not taken under such extreme circumstances. The photo selection process was exactly how it should be -- easy. You just choose an album and then click on all the photos you want to include in the stitch. With other applications you have to go through an "add image" selection process for each individual image you want to use. With AutoStitch you select ALL the photos you want to use all within one screen. Nice. I am certainly going to have fun with this application... and the price is incredible considering how much the desktop applications cost. This would be a great 2.0 application, but the fact that it is a 1.0 application impresses me even more. Cloudburst Research really DID their research on this application. I hope to see more from them soon. Excellent application! Buy it if you have any desire to create stitched images or panoramic images! THIS is the application to own. PS: I am not associated with Cloudburst Research or even know anyone who works there, or even anyone who knows anyone who works there. Just in case you were wondering if my review were based on anything other than personal experience with the application.
possibly my favorite impulse buy By: caper98 - Sep 28, 2009 Version: 1.1.2 I never really thought I needed or would use this type of application, but after reading a few recommendations and being tempted by a sale price, I bit. I have to say that I use this app so frequently now, I wish I had bought it sooner. No longer do I worry about trying to squeeze as much as possible into a single awkward shot... I just snap everything I want to include and let AutoStitch do its magic. It's everything an app should be: fun, useful, and easy to use.
auto stitch works great on my 3gs By: knoxbox - Sep 13, 2009 Version: 1.1.1 so i just got this app yesterday, and i've been able to get it to stitch 3 and 4 photos flawlessly... i did have a problem when i tried to stitch 6 photos together... a tip i have found that makes it work really well is to overlap it quite a bit don't be stingy... i think there is possibly a maximum size hence why some people say they have tried 5 images and only 4 actually stitch together. if this is the case then they need to add something that would tell a user when they have reached the max res size etc...
Most Impressive! By: TheNikonShooter - Aug 28, 2009 Version: 1.1.1 I love PanoTools images from a D2X mounted on a NodalNinja - but I have to say that I'm stunned with the relative quality of the AutoStitch 1.1.1 image from the marginal 3GS camera rotating aroung nothing but my finger on top of the lens to guess at a nodal point. Stitched 10 images with the camera tilted several degrees downward and I have to look really colsely to see any transitions. PerfectPhoto is the only app I've used that displays the size of the input image. It shows this stitched version to be 2048 x 412. I've gotten great (relative here - this is a toy camera, but you work with what you have) results from several workflows and AutoStitch can be the first step. From the AS output, I go into PerfectPhoto to adjust shadows, highlights and midtones (gamma) and then bring it into Photogene to sharpen. I just tried PerfectlyClear after AutoStitch and it's a dynamite dynamic range expander to couple with AutoStitch's pano images, but its current release is limited to 640px wide. They're supposed to release the capability for larger files and then it will really be good. This review has expanded to include more than AutoStitch, but I see where the capability of these apps is improving dramatically and I hope that a few of my observations might help you turn better images out of your iPhone...
Does what it says on the tin By: Zog the frog - 19-Oct-2009 Version: 1.1.2 As a long time user of Autostitch on the PC, I was interested to see how it would perform on the iPhone. I needn't have worried, it's just the same. Speed is a bit slower than on an average PC, but the quality is just as good. It's great to be able to do a quick panorama 'in the field' to test out the potential of the scene before shooting of 50 odd frames to make a PC version. The 'auto' part means there's no fiddly lining up with the previous shot that's necessary with other pano software. Shoot the images in any order and the software does the rest. Superb, and worth every penny.
New bug introduced - take my words back By: bl4ckwing - 12-Aug-2009 Version: 1.1.1 I'm sorry guys, it's really my bad. I thought I know how to take pano pictures. The app is totally fine, and it's great. It's me who didn't use the right technique to take my pano pictures. After using the proper technique, all my pano pictures are stitched beautifully, I can't see any visible seam, really great, conveniently saved into your camera roll album with optimum quality, will recommend this to anybody who likes photography on iPhone. Good job guys.

Great Application By: Dave Sheep - 13-Sep-2009 Version: 1.1.1 I've used the PC version for years - always with great results, usually better than the bloated stitcher in Photoshop. So when I was looking for an iPhone panorama app and I found one made by the same people I didn't hesitate to buy it Fantastic results, with a built in automatic or manual crop. Ignore people who say they want a photo taking in the app, after just a bit of practice you take suitable pictures by eye. A beautifully simple app that just works

Very impressed! By: JonnyDrifter - 24-Jul-2009 Version: 1.1 I am amazed at how good this is!! Just a quick demo in my lunge (with VERY awkward perspective) gave fantastic results!! I think the key is to ensure you have a decent amount of overlap in your images - but I am really very impressed at how clever this application is - very good value for money! As they say - the images don't look great in the photo viewer on the iPhone, but when you transfer them to your computer they really are quite decent resolution!
Highly recommended! By: Scoops-UK - 08-Jul-2009 Version: 1.0.1 I stumbled across this app while browsing the App Store. I checked out the web site examples and bought it more to see if it really could create these panoramas on you phone. Sure enough the results are fantastic. On my 3G it works just fine. Sure not every join in every picture you make is perfect but what do you expect? Generally the results are phenomenal and once uploaded to iPhoto result in higher resolution images than normally possible from the 2 megapixel camera. Check out their website if you want to know what to expect from it. In fact, don't bother, just get it anyway - it is just over a quid which isn't even pocket money these days! There are some improvements coming such as cropping the final image (at the moment it is left all jaggy around the edges where the various pics have been stitched) and so on so get it now as you know it can only improve in the future.
SIX STAR APP!!! By: Talkin Ape - 03-Jul-2009 Version: 1.0.1 Thanks to Alex Lindsay on "MacBreak Weekly episode 147" (a podcast) for recommending AutoStitch. I'm very impressed with this App's abiltities & the fact this is happening on a phone. The app is easy to use, and rendered the pano's faster than expected, I'm using the original iPhone btw. I've spent hours manually creating pano's in Photoshop over the years.. this app embarrassed me! lol Go buy it now! PS: look on web for tips on shooting for panos, it will help you get fantastic results.

Very poweful software that performs exceptionally well By: Arow - 6-Jul-2009 Version: 1.0.1 This is a great application for anyone who wants to be able to easily stitch panoramas together, whether it is with photos taken on the iPhone or imported from your computer. I am very impressed with the algorithms and the key feature that allows you to stitch pictures in random order. The algorithm is interesting as it actually transforms the image to make it 'fit' (which can cause the blurring). My only complaint is that they only have one algorithm available for stitching. It would be nice to have an option that just 'puts' the photos together without the transformations to avoid the 'blurring.'

Great addition to iPhone Camera By: Cazdogg305 - Jul 20, 2009 Version: 1.1 Very fun and easy to use. I've created some cool pics with this program. Also a good tool when trying to get more into a pic such as an indoor room. Needs: in app picture capture, cropping, and more importantly to me the ability to save project at full resolution.
For the price of what this software can do is great, highly recommend. It would be five stars but there is room for improvement.
Thanks.
