Major version, v3.0 is released! With the rewrite of the application and redesign of the interface, the experience and performance of the app has just gotten better! New feature grid guide and online sharing (in Beta) are also included in this version. Register for a free account now to receive more online features later! If you encounter any issues (bugs, crashing etc), please contact us through the "Darkroom Support" link, as we couldn't reply and help you through the review system. ---- Your iPhone photo always come out blurry? Use Darkroom Premium! Compared to the standard Darkroom version, it has a number of extra modes that help you take photos from your iPhone camera. Steady mode: Once you press the "shutter" button, Darkroom will automatically take the photo when your hand is stabled. Your photo will be saved into your Camera Roll and ready for your next shot. Compared to other camera applications, Darkroom prevents accidental movement caused by pressing the shutter, hence suitable for low-light environment (as a night camera) and unsteady hands. You can also adjust the sensitivity of the steady mode. Timer mode: Now you can set a timer to countdown and take your photos automatically. To take a clearer photo, try to set a timer and put your iPhone on something stable. Also, you can use this mode to take group photos with your friends. Fullscreen Shutter mode: When you activate this mode, the whole camera viewport is your shutter button. To take a clearer photo even without the steady mode, simply touch the middle part of the screen to shoot, while holding the top and bottom of your iPhone with the other hand. Additionally, you can use this mode to take self-portrait easily when the screen is turned away from you. Grid Guide mode: Visible guide to frame your subject with the rule of thirds. You can fine tune and customize all these modes easily! It is a beautiful and handy app. See for yourself! Darkroom Premium Features: - No-fuss one-click photo taking; - Auto-shooting for clearer photo; - Timer shooting mode; - Fullscreen shutter button mode; - Grid Guide; - Autosave; - Preview your saved photos without quitting the app; - Attractive interface, larger viewing window.

Reviews:
Do not support these people. By: PForrest - Jul 6, 2009 Version: 2.2 I used this app all the time until I upgraded to iPhone 3.0. The app now crashes every time I attempt to capture an image. Hurry it up and get an update out, developers.
Updated review:
Lowering my rating to one star, I'd go lower if it would let me. This app DOES NOT EVEN WORK. I've had multiple updates from other, more professional photo apps since iPhone 3.0 was released. This developers excuse of "apple is slow to respond" is b.s.
Give your money to someone who deserves it. I'll change my rating if these deadbeats do their job.
A staple for those iPhone photographers! (Dangit Apple, accept their update!) By: MonkeyConQueso - Jun 25, 2009 Version: 2.2 This application, while not working currently on 3.0 software (AS STATED IN THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PRODUCT), is one of my staples of iPhone use. The ability to use my phone to take some amazingly stable and clear pictures is by far the most desirable facet of this application, and it works beautifully in almost any lighting situation. Being able to control the "Steady" amount, as well as having a shot timer for any number of uses is an extra bonus. Here's hoping Apple gets off their butts with the flood of 3.0 updates/software requests/etc... and accepts Stepcase Ltd.'s newest, 3.0 acceptable build.
My Favorite added app By: Last Nail - Apr 2, 2009 Version: 2.1 I have used Darkroom Premium every day for a couple months now. It is rock-solid reliable. Before I got this Darkroom app, I was very disappointed in the iPhone camera. Now I find that it consistently takes very good photos, thanks to Darkroom. It really is THAT simple. The one improvement I wish the developers could make soon would be to "Save" the resulting photo faster. But I would use it for each and every photo I take with the iPhone camera anyway, regardless, even if it took 3x as long to "Save."
WONDERFUL!!! And to clear up some other comments from before By: BRYSTRETCH - Jan 3, 2009 Version: 2.0 Just wanted to say this App is awesome. It does exactly what it says it would do. Now to let you know it WILL save the picture sideways and the way to do that is to take the picture sideways, KEEP THE PHONE SIDEWAYS (Longways) and if you like the picture you just took then save it WHILE THE PHONE IS SIDEWAYS. It WILL save it sideways. If you take a picture with the camera straight up and down, that is how it will save it!. Just wanted to let you know..well worth 99 cents!!!
Simple: It Works Great By: Goose. - Jan 2, 2009 Version: 2.0 As others have said, I'll never use the standard camera app again. This app works and works exactly as described.
So many times I was bummed (especially w/ low light) w/ the standard camera pics. Since I bought this, I have not been disappointed.
The only issue that bugs me is the "Save" time...obviously slower. Hopefully that can be resolved in a future version release.
Have been using my iPhone as a camera more than ever since purchasing this app.
Extremely happy. "Thanks" to the team that put this out.
Great for taking your iPhone underwater! By: bendhoward - Dec 30, 2008 Version: 2.0 First, let me say that this app does exactly what it says and works fine, therefore, 5 stars. What I actually bought it for was taking photos underwater with my aquapac waterproof case. What I discovered was that the touch screen doesn't work underwater (or at least underwater in salt water) so the built in camera app is useless. SteadyCam lets you press the photo button while the phone is above water and then once you get it steady underwater it takes the picture. It works pretty perfectly (but you still need a ton of light of course).
Great app, but does not save orientation properly By: Listener1001 - Dec 28, 2008 Version: 2.0 This is a fantastic app. The Steadycam feature works remarkably well in attaining a clear picture. As of this review (12/20/08) I just have a couple gripes about the current release. 1) Does not properly save orientation info. A photo shot in horizontal landscape orientation is saved to the Camera Roll as a vertical image, even though the preview in SteadyCam displays it with the correct orientation. 2) There should be an "override" button to allow the user to take the picture instantly, especially if it is taking too long for SteadyCam to take a steady shot.
At last, sharp pictures! By: salcorn - Dec 21, 2008 Version: 2.0 I've rarely taken a sharp picture with the iPhone, because in anything less than full sunlight, the slightest camera movement causes blurring. SteadyCam completely fixed that problem. It's amazing! And being able to tap anywhere on the screen to shoot, especially self portraits, is an incredibly vital feature. The only negative is that it's a bit slower to save photos to the camera roll. I'll never use the built in iPhone camera app again!
3 apps for the price of one By: striatic - Dec 21, 2008 Version: 2.0 I might never use the default camera app again. Here you have a self-portrait app, a steady-shot night photo app and a camera timer all rolled into one. In purchasing this app I was able to remove 3 apps from my phone, and considering the low price of this app, this is very impressive. The fullscreen shutter is excellent for self-portrait taking, and the night shot is useful as well. The timer mode is less useful, since it is hard to balance the iPhone on a surface, but it is nice to know I have the option. Lastly, the save times are pretty good and the application UI shows polish. There's really no flaws in the app, and the only advantage the default camera app has over it is perhaps very slightly faster save times.
I loled By: Adz81 - 13-Jul-2009 Version: 2.2 Damn there are some stupid people bellow me. Guys have you not noticed that none of the camera apps work with 3.0. It's not the Dev's fault. It's just Apple being Apple. The have seen what the Dev's have done and copied it them selves on the 3Gs. So they have blocked all compitition. Just trying to force you to upgrade. Just like what they did too the standard iPhone people when the iPhone 3G came out. Build a bridge and get over it. It's what Apple does.

Holy shiza By: lchupacabras - Oct 11, 2009 Version: 3.0 I don't casually write reviews but Darkroom deserves one. Not only has it been one of the most useful apps I've downloaded since I've had a 3G the new update is fabulous; great controls, more features, and FINALLY a great icon (though I'd prefer not to have PREMIUM stamped on it). Like I said, great app and if you couple it with something like the (free!) Photoshop.com app it's even better. Keep it up guys, besides the slight lag on the saving feature i'm content for now but I expect great things to come. Besides the saving (understandable, considering Apple's limitations) I would enjoy an update in the album mode, it'd be great if I could use it instead of having to switch over to the image viewer every time I wanted to show off my pictures and using all the features of the image viewer. Anyway, ranting is over, thanks for the great app.
Missing 1 thing - Bursto By: couchpotatoo - 28-Jan-2009 Version: 2.1 I've tried and layed aside; picoli, camera plus, and quad cam(what was I thinking). Steadycam has been there from day one and is kind-of my reference camera app. Until a program with burst comes along it will stay that way :) With the 1st gen iphone- snapture was the 'go to guy'. I've got a dog and it was great to get successive shots of her 'in action'. Replaying them through the camera roll quickly, would turn them into fun, mini movies. Family and friends loved them. Please try and implement something with similar functionality. Cheers and A+ work. Keep it up.

A man walks into an app store... By: POdJohn - Jul 19, 2009 Version: 2.2 For all the folks who purchase apps without reading info or reviews and then gripe and REPEAT poor reviews yourself...YOU'RE IDIOTS! But that's to be expected of trendsetters and fashionistas...all money, no brains. For those of us who actually purchased the iPhone as a tool and not just a toy to show off to friends, what Apple is doing is shameful. I've read many blogs concerning Apple's flawed and shady app approval process. DON'T blame the programmers for something out of their control. This program worked for me and worked well...BEFORE Apple went and broke it with THEIR update!
Promising By: kickpunk - Apr 9, 2009 Version: 2.2 Promising app, but there a few things that need fixing. Saving is slow, opening camera roll is just a preview, so it's bulky if you want to email, needs to adjust to horizontal mode, pictures are taken a little to the right off-center, if you have steady hands, not a big diff so considering the new "darkroom" name should take better pictures in dark rooms, color is a little washed out. Promising. Oh, and I can deal with the "P" in the icon, but in the app name, looks stupid. Maybe I found a lot wrong, but I like it, and hope for updates.
Update 4/8/2009...
Things have improved a little, but not in what I already stated. There's more options and features. The centering thing really bothers me the most, then the speed. Granted, given it's purpose, it's going to take some time, and it does have a nice feature to save or discard, but it's the save which is longer than apple's. But bottom line is it does what it says, and if you have steady hands, just take a pic while moving around a bit, then do the same with apple's. Apple just blurs, and darkroom comes out clear. So if you get into a non-steady situation, it's great. Get drunk, use darkroom. Not the biggest diff in dark situations, though, I assume the name change was a trademark issue and refers to the ability to have some control, like in a darkroom. I have not replaced apples app totally because of the issues I state, so still "promising", raising it a star for the updates, and it does what it says, when you need that steady shot.
I use it every time! By: zacthomas - Jan 28, 2009 Version: 2.1 I don't have a need for the stadard iPhone camera anymore - these pics always come out sharper. The price is worth it just for being able to use the full screen as the shutter button. I wish you could review you pics easier - scrolling through like usual instead of tapping back and forth. The name change was pretty retarded - this app is totally about steadying your camera and nothing to do with editing (like a darkroom)
Great app By: Deftdrummer - Jan 8, 2009 Version: 2.1 This app is fantastic. I just love things like steady cam, which actually ADD functionality to the iPhone rather than detract eg: the plethera of fart apps the app store has recently been innundated with.
Now, as far as the app goes it's fantastic. It works as advertised and I really like that you can review your photos after taking them. Also, using the entire screen as a shutter for self portraits or awkward positions really comes in handy.
Of course there is always room for improvement hence the 4 star rating. What I would like to see would be the ability to delete and email photos from directly from within the app. SCP would be nothing short of amazing if this functionaly could be added. Thanks so much!
Just as it said By: Vibrfive - Jan 2, 2009 Version: 2.0 First off this is a great app, I will more than likely never use my other camera again. Next this has one problem which I hope will be updated soon, that is you can't take pics in landscape and have them stay that way. Everything else is awesome. Well worth .99. I found a few more problems, one is that when you take pictures it automatically zooms in a little bit. Next you can't erase or resize pictures while in the picture viewer of the steady cam.
Great apps!! By: lviphone - Dec 22, 2008 Version: 2.0 Started with night camera apps and although that one is good this apps is better.
1. Picture quality is about the same as night camera but obviously a lot better than normal camera apps.
2. This apps saves pics a LOT faster vs night camera. This alone is worth switching over.
3. Two additions that night camera doesn't have: Full screen shutter (let you take your own picture by just clicking anywhere on the screen) and time delay option.
Great buy!!
Ok it doesn't work under OS3 but... By: rmau - 10-Jul-2009 Version: 2.2 A) I wish people who choose to write a review would just shoot their mouth off.
B) Night Camera doesn't work under OS 3 either.
C) the problem appears to lay with Apple rather than the developers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm sure that will be resolved.
But I've done direct comparisons of Darkroom and Night Camera and Darkroom constantly gives better results.
So I own both and let's face it my iPhone is not my primary camera. So I'm prepared to be patient and wait. In the mean time if I absolutely have to take a low light shot with my iPhone I'll use Night Cam. So the issue for the developers is to get it solved ASAP.
