... By: insane drummer - Sep 18, 2008 Version: 1.1.0 Hey the guy about Mexico they said they are getting permits to make it so u can close in on it in a free update, and I live in Florida too and those images are from year 2005 in google earth, and if u do live in Florida u can prob just use street view my house is in it :-) but I don't have this app but it looks great!
Hey if I get this app free (I already did) will I be charged when it becomes paid again?
Much better imagery than Google By: MacNFL - Sep 9, 2008 Version: 1.0.1 The frustrating thing about Google Maps and Google Earth is how outdated the imagery is. I live in Florida and the extensive damage from the 2004 hurricanes is STILL NOT reflected in Google Earth and Google Maps yet the local County GIS, LABINS, and even MSFT Live Earth have at least two generations of more up to date imagery. Earthscape uses this more up to date imagery. If you have an iPhone and want a great user interface, portability and imagery newer than a nice California Pinot then Earthscape is the iApp for you. My only complaint is besides MSFT Live Earth the imagery does not appear to be available on the Web via Safari or FireFox; the provider Aerials Express seems to want to install ActiveX controls ...ergh.
Awesome!! By: Aguka - Oct 21, 2008 Version: 1.2.0 I downloaded Earthscape when it first came out, and it was extremely laggy and slow. Of course, this was not necessarily a problem of the development but one of the iphone's processing power; still, there was room for improvement if it was to become a usable app. After downloading the update that made this app about 20x faster, there is no doubt in my mind that it is one of the best apps in the store.
Highly recommended; extremely well done!
Incredible By: ltoutlook - Aug 28, 2008 Version: 1.0 Eventually I want topo map tracking but found this while looking. It is absolutely incredible, beautiful, and and intuitive and useful. It looks stable. If it improves over time, great but I'm very happy now. It is a reason to justify the iPhone. That said - some instructions on the support page or app store would be great, and ways to zoom in on a zip code or city like Google can. But really. Wow!!! added: This app does what it is meant to do. There are other apps that track etc. If you need a specific tool this may not be it. This is a globe traveller - I can follow a highway, my son looked at the German town he will visit in November, I can see the glaciers I've climbed in as well as the ones I want to. This will show geology. It is visual. It connects you to Wiki. It won't track (try Path Tracker) and won't find a coffee place. It does what it does and it is great.
A showcase of the iPhone's potential By: Jordan117 - Oct 20, 2008 Version: 1.2.0 Earthscape is by far one of the most fascinating apps available. It is the perfect combination of eye candy and utility. Not only does it let you navigate the world in 3D on your phone, but you can also search for addresses, read Wikipedia articles, and upload geotagged photos to a global image-sharing community. It's basically Google Earth for the iPhone. And all for free! Earthscape is amazing. End of story.
The best app on the iPhone...PERIOD By: Master of None - Oct 20, 2008 Version: 1.2.0 It's not a game, it's not a tool...it's not even particularly useful. It's just so fascinating to use! Especially with the new community features! Checking out photos taken in your local area and adding your own to the map was cool. But now you can look up info on users from their pictures, participate in leaderboards, and post comments on others photos. This is simply the best application ont he iPhone and it keeps getting better with every release.
One of the best iPhone apps I've purchased to date. By: BluCypher - Aug 21, 2008 Version: 1.0 Works beautifully. I love this app. It's very responsive considering the amount of data it has to stream. The interface is very simple and to the point. Only a few gestures need to be learned to navigate. As for everyone trying to zoom into their back yard and complaining that it's not crystal clear, I can zoom in to my house at about the same level as in Google Earth. The image is grainier, but I imagine this is to keep the data size small as to not tax the network and/or processing power of the phone too much. I personally prefer the program to be responsive rather than wait 5 minutes for a prettier picture. Besides, you should be searching the world. You should already know what your back yard looks like. Can't wait to see what the future holds for this great app.
Wonderful app. Amazing effort. By: TCapple - Aug 21, 2008 Version: 1.0 I bought this last night at 11pm when there were NO reviews. The price concerned me, but after a day of non- stop use I am completely amazed. I demo'd it for a co- worker who promptly got up and drove to the apple store to buy an Iphone. Anyone who gives this less than 5 stars didn't buy it.
This plague of reviewers who dont own the apps they review will become the downfall of the app store if Apple doesn't fix it soon. 48 hours after buying an app, you should get an email asking for your review... ONLY if to actually own it!!!
Great job developers. Razor sharp imagery in the bay area and amazingly smooth scrolling and zooming. Not much different than Google Earth on a FAST computer. Definitely for 3G or wifi though. Like google earth, some imagery is at a lower resolution. Undoubtedly the source data will continue to improve over time - just like google earth has. Not a single complaint here. Feature request: blue dot showing your current location...
Stunning application By: stepleton - Aug 21, 2008 Version: 1.0 As others have said, it's Google Earth on the iPhone, and even though it has only two or three layers, it's spectacular---really, straight out of Star Trek. Imagery in rural areas around Pittsburgh is actually superior to Google Earth with more high resolution coverage. Really slick, worth every penny of its asking price, and my only gripe is that I will inevitably be losing more money to the "Pro" version or whatever it is called whenever that's available.
Love it... but prefered version 1, (developers please read) By: The Fair Reviewer - 18-Jan-2009 Version: 2.0.0 Ok, I bought earthscape a month or so ago. The idea of a 'google earth' type app really appealed to me so I got it. I loved it from the second I downloaded it, and regardless of the issues of slowness and rare crashes in version 1, I thought the app had fantastic potential. When the update came I was excited to see what was new. I was pleased, but equally upset that in my eyes earthscape had lost some of its best asset - simplicity. Little things, like the fact it now says 'pan mode', 'follow mode' or '3d mode', and the constant ugly blue circle on your location seem completely unessecery to me and mean the app looses some of its clean and simple appeal. The community photos and pages are a nice addition and the search function also is great, but there are a number of things I really think you should look into. Here they are: 1) Get rid of the 'pan mode' / '3d mode' / 'follow mode' labels - OR let us turn then off with an option 2) Let us turn off the blue circle that constantly shows our location (on/off in options) 3) The way images are stitched together is not as smooth as the first version, there are visable harsh lines on the globe when they join, these were not so pronounced in v1. 4) PLEASE do your best to get highers res images for the UK. To sell this here with low quality maps is slightly agitating. Earthscape will always be a 5 star app for me, the ability to flick round of the world turning on 3d and cruising down valleys with 2 fingers is amazing, but I would love you to just give Earthscape back those one or 2 simplicity features v1 sported, giving it a cleaner overall look. Google did just 2 days ago release their very own 'google earth' and after downloading it I am happy to say it is nothing on Earthscape in my opinion. But continue with the updates and please implement my features to allow Earthscape to truly fufill its potential.

Vagabond of sorts By: Edward Fox - Apr 2, 2009 Version: 2.1.0 Attn: Carmadello, I have the very same trouble trying to come on line.It began the first time I took a picture and refused the audio. This was about the 3rd of March. I can't see this app. Not being number one or at least top ten of all app. I have downloaded over a hundred apps and payedfor most this is avery nice app that keeps getting updates that let you keep doing more. I think you can download now and get a great deal because this app is so Kool get it now and start yourself a pic group.

Keep it coming.
NSA TEC By: sashicon - Sep 20, 2008 Version: 1.1.0 this is by far the most impresive app in the store, you must get this app while its free, i really dont even know how to discribe it except by saying its like your stock google maps X10. the magnification is still just as limited , but earthscapes angle feature is so cool. it gives you the ability to look at landscapes from an angle rather than just the birds eye view. so when you are say just looking at natural topography its almost as if your synct with a real time sat, vallys, mountins, lakes the whole world is truly put in to the palm of your hand, thanks to earthscape cant wait to see what type of updates they will add in the future.
5 BIG stars! By: cre8_Tif - Jan 7, 2009 Version: 2.0.0 I love this application. I could care less about the perspective of the Earth. I only care about the photos that I see. And I see alot! I've gotten really nice comments from others about my photos, and of course, I've left many comments on many awesome photos taken all over the world. I very much enjoy seeing how others view their little part of the world. I definitely recommend this application.

Need work, but still is very cool By: Hoadie - Nov 4, 2008 Version: 1.2.0 I have been using this app for a bout a month now, and even though it crashes, it still shows a lot of hope. There is an issue with the GPS not being where the picture is taken, and the location tag is where the file finally gets uploaded instead of where it was taken, can be an issue when you are moving, or are in an area of bad coverage, but if you are in good coverage and still it is pretty much bang on...

5 Stars By: Jmiller026 - Oct 31, 2008 Version: 1.2.0 Why are people comparing this to Google Earth and discrediting it because of it's lack of mapping options? This is not meant to compete with Google Earth. Read the description, feel embarrassed, change your reviews.
This is an awesome app it's a must have for anyone with an iPhone. I got it for free, but I would've paid 99 cents for it -- I don't know about $4.99. But there are many things that could be done to easily make this worth a higher price.
I look forward to seeing what will be done with this app.
Absolutely amazing By: Mike the Knife - Sep 18, 2008 Version: 1.1.0 I love this app! The fact that it's free right now is a big plus, but I'd definely pay for this app. You get a very well-produced 3D globe and you can zoom in on any point. You get Wikipedia articles and photos embedded on the map, and you can even take your own geotagged photos. I haven't played with it much, but so far I can't seem to get it to look for Wiki articles, other people's photos and my photos at the same time. This may be to increase the stability of the app, as this would require more processor power. If stability is not an issue, I would very much like to see this in the future. The more photos, the merrier! One of the coolest features is its ability to view the globe as if you were looking from a plane, rather than from a sattelite. This feature is a great addition. I've noticed that when you zoom in on a city very close, this feature looks pretty flat. I wonder if it would be possible to merge the data with Google's street views to make it 3D. Anyway, wonderful app. Even after the sale is over, I highly recommend it.
A few more tricks and it'd be perfect. By: BluesInHeaven.com - Aug 29, 2008 Version: 1.0 I love it! I can't wait to take it fossil hunting with me. I LOVE the higher res imagery in remote locations of the US that Google doesn't provide. It's smooth in WiFi, it will be interesting how it will work on 3G and Edge.
This is what I MUST have in this app to make it PERFECT:
1. Roads, please have all roads including back roads, trails would be cool too.
2. Ability to mark locations with drop pins like...ahem... Google.
3. Something showing your position.
4. Lat/long in decimal degrees or user selected format.
5. Search not only cities, but place names like cemeteries, creeks, landmarks, etc.
6. Business and people search. Not really needed in an app like this because Google and other apps, but if you had it, this feature would go a long ways towards edging out anything Google could do for the iPhone.
7. Finally, the ultimate thing I think this app could do would be to access USGS 7.5 min quadrangle topographic maps. I would pay bunches for all these features in a full version of this app!!!!!!!!!!
