My 3rd "daily" photo app By: weedmeat - Oct 2, 2009 Version: 2.0.1 This app is almost too deep, but I can't complain! I've seen similar filters in other apps, but the way they're applied in Photo fx is, to me, superior. Layers & layers & layers... I like to save along the way & keep adding layers. One of my favorite features is the before-after button--very nice. And the fx have multiple parameters for the most part, each itself adjustable in multiple ways. Just look at the way you can tweak a simple vignette for example. Thanks!
Good job, Tiffen By: Pepino1976 - Sep 29, 2009 Version: 2.0.1 Where to begin. I've been using Tiffen filters on my Olympus OM-4T since the 1987. Now they have this great software to use on my iPhone. With this app, I can do just about anything I want with my photos as it is quite powerful. I especially like the old style black and white effects that can really bring out what I want in a photo. The depth of field is also good for some of my photos. Instead of going on about the features, here is what I use mostly on my iPhone for photos: Best Camera - does most of what I want quickly Photo/fx - does more, just more work ColorClaw - for fun with color mapping iFlashReady - used alone or in combination with any of the above. Fantasitc lightening of the subject (it was born from HDR). Enjoy!
The update is good ...quick and easy photo editing with even MORE effects ! By: gobbling1rl - Aug 31, 2009 Version: 2.0.1 Tiffen did the right thing by creating this update , it shows that they listen. Not many apps out there , can bring you really cool filter effects and the ability to layer ! There is still much value to the 2.99 app and with 2.0 adding two more categories of in-apps within Photofx at 99 cents a piece as ok with me. I like the organization of the 'in-app' option ! I love the color grad and the color fx category... well worth it!

Even better and everything is there. By: Wilson45 - Aug 27, 2009 Version: 2.0.1 Don't understand about filters being missing. Just downloaded 2.0.1 and as the company stated, the Bleach Bypass and Cross Processing filters left out of the previous version are in the Fun Fx > Color Looks. Tiffen was also right up front when they realized an error had been made and said it would be corrected. This is one of the best photo apps around and this latest version has some really great effects. Also noticed that splash page has been changed.
The Best Photography App By: MP59 - Aug 27, 2009 Version: 2.0.1 I just downloaded 2.0.1 and Bleach Bypass and Cross Processing are now in the Fun Fx > Color Looks filter, so apparently the other reviewers spoke before looking. Anyway, 2.0.1 is an awesome new update. There are many new filters that are free as well as new ones that can be purchased. It even looks like every single filter now has a preset. Cool! I applaud Tiffen for their continued commitment to the iPhone and for providing such wonderful filters and software. Photo fx is hands down, the best photography app in the store.

nice By: baci_baci - 23-Oct-2009 Version: 2.0.1 wow~before I bought this app,i read the others ppl rate, coz i saw they said after you buy this app,if u want to use the portrait fx need to pay again (per 1),but I also saw one ppl said just pay one more time ($1.91),then will get all of it,not just one,so I just tried to buy and then let see,yes u still need pay extra $1.91,but really just 1 time, then u will get them all,so is worth it,if u guys really like to pay with the photo or take a photo, even u paid $3.99 for this app already, why not just pay just a $1.91 for it,is not a big $$,but i also understand, you guys will think why i need to pay 2s for 1 app,but anyway,if u try the portrait FX,u will think is worth it ^^

Once you get over the shock... By: Burst '59 - Aug 16, 2009 Version: 2.0 The 99 cents is per filter set, and worth the dough for the added functionality -- especially if you're a user of the desktop software, DFX.
I am a heavy user of the gradient filters, and they're all there -- for a buck! To be honest, I would have paid more for them.
Also, right after the update, I contacted the company directly and their customer service was actually great, and genuine. Yes, the rollout should have been handled much better, but isn't this what in-app pricing is all about? And no, I don't work for Tiffen or shill for them in any way
EASILY the best post-processing app for the iPhone By: LLHB - Mar 31, 2009 Version: 1.2 I don't get the low average rating. I take a LOT of photos with my iPhone (and camera as a professional photographer), and I've tried and deleted nearly all of the top photo apps here. At this point, I use only 3 consistently, and Photo fx is far and away the most polished, best designed, and capable of the bunch. The features added in v 1.2 have made a good thing even better...faster, more features. If you like taking photos, it's a no brainer; this is one of the very few apps I own that I would gladly have paid much more for.
Best Photo App So Far, by Far! By: Onthehudson - Nov 23, 2009 Version: 2.0.1 I have 7 other photo apps, but as a fan of Tiffen Filters from my old 35mm days, I thought I'd try it--even with those mixed reviews below. IT'S AWESOME!! This is easily $75 worth of software. This is not the crappy tweeks u can do with a little more contrast and chroma. This is the real deal. I'm 24 hrs in, modified a dozen picts, bought all the 99 cent in-app upgrades and I'm love'n it! Real desktop photo software cost big bucks. This is a bargin. Variable adjusting filters like Glow and Crossprocess. Magical! Keep the innovation coming, more filters, more $$.
Photo Fx 2.0.1 By: alwaysmprest - Nov 9, 2009 Version: 2.0.1 The Tiffen Company makes/distributes professional photography and movie-making filters and camera equipment, and all these effect filters are really well done, with steps of intensity for each effect (how sharp, blurred, black & white/intensified color do you want.) This app has a lot of very attractive filters to enhance photos without making them blurry. The variety allows using a little bit of several filters without losing the resolution of the original image. I haven't found any bugs so far, after a couple of weeks of using it. Nicely done. So far as I can tell, the "missing filters" mentioned by the negative reviews are simply hidden in this update--not hard to find: just go into the filter style you want, and go through a couple of pages by finger sweeping R to L. I haven't gone into every corner of this app, but The Tiffen Company doesn't say anything about extra filters to buy (I looked, because I like their filters, and would be willing to spend some more money on good stuff!)
Just missing the film By: Soliloquie - Mar 24, 2009 Version: 1.1 Abfab app! If you are real photographer or have worked with tiffen filters before this is great. Better than others i wish i hadn't paid for. May not be so easy for point and shooters without pro experiance but still loads of fun. Everything you see is there just rules of film apply. I am not a friend of the programer and am new to this. If you want something that thinks for you try something else but if you really like to work with photography this is it. Who knew all this on a phone- now if only it had real film to work with..
One thing... By: Amanda-17 - Mar 22, 2009 Version: 1.1 I love this app but the one thing that is keeping me from giving it 5 stars is that it doesn't have the presets shown in the image provided. Would definitely get 5 stars what was shown was what I got :( EDIT: After using this for a few hours, i really really fell in love with it. I also realized that the effects you are given in the app are listed in the description, so i probably should've read that first :). Still not sure why that picture is there if we don't get those presets, but i'm changing my rating from 3 to 5 stars just because with or without them, this is an amazing app. :)
Many are there talented app programmers. Then, there is Undeniable genius. By: Ian Andrew Schneider - Mar 17, 2009 Version: 1.1 As a former darkroom rat who'd given up on photography after digital became standard, this program / which is nothing short of what would have been a million dollar (not hyperbole: add paper, chemicals, labor, waste) color studio inside an iPhone, has proved to me that not all creative genius is lost on "hackers" and jailbreakers." This is not only a program of real genius but it is virtually so user friendly it explains itself - you know those genius apps about which I write! This along with the quad camera app, in 1977 money (I'm 46 and thats when I knew my prices) would cost about a 1.2 million, you'd need a darkroom, all the arcane skills that go therewith, like learning to love the smell of Dektol or stop bath acid or fixer and and love of lugging around very heavy, fragile and temperamental equipment.
Really one of those apps where you just shake your head and say, Just when I thought I'd seen talent used at its best, here is the most amazing app of them all.
Sorry Apple: it's 400x better than iPhoto. Dare ya to [print] that!

Endless options By: Cimicata - Mar 11, 2009 Version: 1.1 I was trying to pick out a $2-3 photo app for a few weeks. In the end I chose photoFX, which appears to have combined every imaginable preset photo effect/style into a single app. The quality and versitility rival some of my favorite photoshop film filter packages.
I do have to agree that the app seems to struggle if you try to work with full size images. Until things get optimized (hopefully in a future update) i just scale down to the middle size before editing.
Things I would love to see added:
- some text effects
- borders (poloroid)
- levels/histogram
- ability to crop/rotate before editing
Very good start By: Orci - Mar 5, 2009 Version: 1.1 Interface is AWESOME. Very simple to use, with enough controls to tweak and get the result you want. This is an amazing start for this app.
HOWEVER - my main issue is the choice of filters the developer went with. The differences between them are way too subtle... The result being that they all look very similar. Add a few lomo filters, maybe more cross-processed type stuff... Something a little more dramatic, and I'd change my rating to 5 stars for sure.
ETA: okay... Finally found the presets hidden WITHIN the presets. Didn't know they were there! Updated rating to 5 stars. Lots of great filters stashed away in there. You just gotta look. :)
Only request would be to allow multiple filters to be applied on one photo without having to apply one, then save, then open that image to apply another etc.
