I am an occasional insomaniac, and this by far has been the perfect solution to my habitual problem. No more meds to get to sleep, Ambiance Classic™ is the best ambiance app out there!
Pros:
rarely crashes, unlike other apps
alot of sounds from A to Z
ability to mix sounds
realistic 3d phonics (audio engineering utilizing both speakers/earphones for 3d effect)
Cons:
cant run outside of app
a couple of useless sounds like lightsaber and cat purr
Other than that, it's a good buy! For $0.99, it's a steal!!!

This app is great in helping you fall asleep in a very relaxed way! My favorite sound is the Fire Campfire but I also enjoy a few others. I have not had any major issues with any bugs like some others have had. I really like the ability to set a timer and have the sound slowly fade down. I usually set it for 20 minutes and this almost puts me in a trance that helps me fall asleep super fast!

When I inadvertently updated to the new version without realizing the changes I was disappointed. I use just a few sounds occasionally. Creating yet another account and downloading sounds again was more trouble than it was worth to me. I sent a note to the developer and he responded immediately explaining the new version and that he was going to release this "Classic" version for those who felt as I did.
As a tech professional I fully appreciate that he was responding to the majority of his users with the new version. He put a lot of work into it and made it as simple as he could to get back the old capability. It's almost unheard of for a developer to respond so quickly to please a minority of his customer base. I now have my simple basic app back and am very happy.
Matt - you've set the bar for other developers. I hope the new version is even more successful that the original. THANKS!!!
Ambiance 2 and Ambiance Classic

When I upgraded from 1.x to 2.x and upon launching the app for the first time, my chin hit the floor. I was pretty dismayed as Ambiance 2 was essentially an "empty" app that required downloading sounds before it would become functional. After playing with v2, I see the flexibility and the power, and I appreciate the update now. However, I missed the old version for being a "canned" Ambiance that would be ready to roll as soon as it was installed. The beauty of this whole thing is that upgrading from v1 to v2 is free, and Mr. Coneybeare is offering Classic for free for the time being. Very nice. It works well and is a nice alternative for someone who wants a variety of sounds in a nice pre-canned app. No fuss. No muss.

Great app! Incredibly easy to use interface, numerous sound effects, different customization options (fade audio in/out etc). I tried binayral beats and whitenoise before this and just liked ambiance better. Nicer looking interface as well as easier to use, and the sounds included seemed to be of better quality. I'm pleased, and as a bonus the developer is very responsive to questions and comments.

This app is wonderful, I cant think of a single suggestion that it needs. The fact that you can combine sounds that you are hearing really helps me relax to fall asleep. The alarm is a great extra. I would recommend this application for anyone with high stress or trouble falling asleep.
Quick tip: I was going crazy trying to figure out how to get to the controls... turns out I was an idiot and didnt see the faint little "i" at the top right of the screen... just wanted to let everyone else know before they get frustrated and write any bad reviews
Hello Ambiance my old friend

I think it is great that Coneybeare is giving his original Classic app away (introductory offer but still a bargin at $0.99!) in consideration to all those who complained about creating a free email account to tap the vast ambiant sound vault he created. I was pretty skeptical about the need for such an app but have on many occasions found it very useful. If you really only want a few sounds and don't mind the application size then you can stick with this classic version, but I think I'll move on to the more flexible 2.0 product as soon as I'm able (how about an Android port?). Now, back to the sound of silence...
Great app - I used it for months

I do prefer the new Ambiance--it's more feature-packed. But this one has simplicity going for it, and that's worth something too. I paid for this one and used it happily for months to mask sounds (via Logitech speaker dock) while I sleep.
It was very cool of the developer to re-release the original Ambiance--and for FREE (at least for a time) no less. A great way to please the people who don't like the changes in Ambiance, while still serving those of us who have moved on to the new app.

This app was exactly what I needed to focus and fall asleep. Sounds are great & high quality, controls are easy and intuitive, and the alarm feature is incredibly useful. The one thing I want is More! I want more sounds, more options, a better alarm, the ability to mix my own sounds. The developer has just released Ambiance (this Ambiance Classic) -- It sounds sounds like it has all these features and more. I'm sold.

This app does exactly what is described. I listened to it just to find my faciurite sounds and found myself dozing. The fact that you can mix sounds is amazing, I like to create camping settings and things like that. Some sounds I couldn't see myself using but the fact that you can delete them is fantastic. Only one thing I might reccomend: get better thunder sounds. The Rain - Thunder was okay but was pretty muffled. All in all, very relaxing!

I purchased Ambiance last year and recently upgraded to 2.0. To my surprise all sounds had been deleted by the upgrade 2.0 and I was now required to surrender my e-mail address in order to get anything.
Making the original version available again corrects this foul business practice. Thank You! Everything would have been fine with the 2.0 upgrade had it left my sounds intact. Opening an account with my e-mail address then would have been an option - not an imposed business tactic.
Better than the new one

A little miffed that I got "upgraded" to the new version and had to re-buy the old one but hey-ho. The free upgrade was a nice gesture, just a shame it's so slow! Regardless, this version is one of the best apps out there and still worth it. Hopefully the extra 60p will help to fund a bit of effort on optimising 2.0 ;)
Better than "aSleep"

In my opinion, this app has so many more and better sounds to suit you, it's so great, it loops more smoothly so you don't notice it restarting to tune. Amazing buy, as a more simple appearence to it than aSleep (Although the options in aSleep are alot more simple than this app) but it has ALOT more better looping tunes. Great app 5 stars.
