Wow  rating of Evernote
By: JKBeaird - Nov 13, 2008
Version: 1.4
I cannot believe there are folks that don't understand Evernote. Evernote is in marketing speak a brain. In reality, it's whatever you want. Want a notepad - Evernote. Want those notes to sync with you Mac (immediately?) - Evernote. Want to make those notes public - Evernote. Want to sync those notes on several Macs - Evernote. Want to sync those notes with a PC - Evernote. Ok...so clearly Evernote can handle your notes. But let's think a minutes...Evernote can be your ToDo list, your shopping list. AND, Evernote can let you take a picture of something (say that nice bottle of Scotch you see, but cannot afford right now and cannot pronounce - snap a picture Evernote...not only is is stored...it's sync'd...and oh yes, the OCR the picture to find any text so it's searchable. Driving - have an idea and can't type? No problem. EverNote takes audio notes. I have to say, between the multiple platform support (Mac/PC/iPhone/WebBrowsers) and the web service...there is nothing this revolutionary out there. The biggest downside to EverNote....YOU. It needs you to use it....to stretch what it can do. Everything I have thrown at it...EverNote handles...and syncs. That spells one thing: Life is good! You can't beat the price...give it 30 days. Then write a review. If you have more than one thing to focus on in your life....EverNote is of help.

Best App and Service yet on the iPhone. Don't know what I did without it.  rating of Evernote

This app has made my life easier. Working 2 full time jobs, going to school full time and having a wife, two year old son and two family members in a Nursing Home my ability to stay organized is serverly tested and strained daily. Evernote has made my life easier in multiple way. I store EVERYTHING on it and I saw one mention of someone scared to put their info on it. . .the Windows/Mac desktop versions give you the option of encrypting info that will need a password, even on the iPhone to read. This service is phenomenol.

Evernote is WONDERFUL  rating of Evernote
By: gebgeb - Nov 12, 2008

I use this application on the iPhone, on two Macs, and access or add to my clippings on the web from other computers many times a day. It's wonderful, fast, and allows me to keep and keep track of a huge range of types of files, images, clippings, etc. I recommend it to everyone! As for the reviewer who was concerned about public notebooks, the automatic setting is private. So have to change settings if you want one of your notebooks to be public.

The Missing App!!!  rating of Evernote
By: John D 3 - Nov 6, 2008
Version: 1.4
As a former Blackberry user, I was disappointed to find that MobileMe did not sync my Outlook notes.
Evernote has done that for me. It's far better that Outlook notes and puts all my notes on my iPhone automaticlly. It has a lot of capabilities that I don't currently use, such as copying entire web pages, etc, but I might someday.
The only disadvantage I find is that you can't edit a note from the mobile app, but need to do it on the web or your desktop. However, it's more difficult typing on your phone anyway and you can't format it as you can on your desktop, so I I just write a note and clip it when I get back to my desktop.
I haven't upgraded, but will certainly do so as my useage grows.
I highly recommend it.

My favorite app - now with persistent/cached notes!  rating of Evernote
By: Wizmon - Oct 28, 2008
Version: 1.4
This is a FABULOUS app - probably my favorite. I've used MS OneNote and Outlook Notes heavily for years - this has ways to easily convert from OneNote (but not keep in sync), and to keep notes portable on my several mac and pc computers, and obviously my phone.
Now with the addition of Favorites that are always cached, my MOST NEEDED improvement has been made. THANKS!!! I can't tell you how excited I was to see this. Great work - I've converted to a premium account (for the full data transmission encryption safety).

A must have app now with local storage.  rating of Evernote
By: Timmer M - Oct 28, 2008

This App is what the Notes App should have been. Most of the negative points in earlier reviews have been addressed in subsequent releases.
You can edit and store your notes on your Iphone/Itouch device for offline use.
I have over 150 notes and I’m still using the free version with plenty of sync space available. I’m able to sync and access my notes on my Itouch, My work Desktop and my Home Desktop with no effort.
Evernote has turned my Itouch into a full PDA. I’m able to send photos from my cell phone right into Evernote and use all the powerful features of this app.
The best app I’ve loaded on my Itouch! Try it, it's free.

Best app on iPhone  rating of Evernote
By: Stockman - Oct 9, 2009
Version: 3.1.0
I had used Evernote on my notebook PC before getting an iPhone, and I loved it. It proved very useful several times to have searchable notes stored on their server, organized the way I want, and with search *inside* the photos! I was using it for receipts, backups of some important papers, ads for things from magazines or from printed classified ads, parts of articles from print media, etc. Also sound clips. And all my notes are synchronized on each of my computers, and I can get to them from a computer in the business center of any hotel, etc. Anyway, when Evernote became available as an iPhone app, its productivity for me doubled! I put notes into it on the go, away from my computers. And I can view them or search them anytime. And I can have photos of documents, receipts, and the whiteboard in my office enhanced from Jotnot and sent directly to Evernote. I love this app, and if you have similar needs, you should certainly try it!

Your External (and backed-up) Brain  rating of Evernote
By: fiona's daddy - Jun 11, 2009
Version: 2.0
Evernote does what the default "notes" app that comes standard on your iphone does, but with one very important feature which makes it replace the default app for me - the fact that everything is BACKED-UP to your online Evernote account. I don't mean to discount the other robust functionality unique to this app - creating audio and imaged-based notes instead of just text, set tags on your notes, intuitive searching, attaching photos and clips from the web which the search feature will even pick up text in, etc. - but the primary feature I wanted, plain and simple, was that everything would be backed up. I record in "sticky note" form (now in Evernote form) everything I want to remember, and if I should ever lose my phone or have its hard drive crash, everything is still backed up online.
You will surely see some negative reviews that miss the point - complaints centered around the fact that your phone/touch has to be within internet access in order to back up your notes to your online account. Well, yes, duh! The very feature that is what makes this app great necessitates interenet access (and don't listen to the wifi nonsense - mine works perfectly with 3G access). I'm not going to reject the gift of a new car because someone drops the bomb on me that "oh, but there's a catch - you have to use this key to drive it."
The app performs exactly as it's supposed to, a sleek and innovative idea beautiful in its simplicity and not cluttered up with all the garbage of other list apps.

This is a home page app!  rating of Evernote
By: Jim Bell of Belmont - 29-Oct-2009
Version: 3.1.1
I keep this app on my home page because it's the one I use most of all. As a matter of fact I was most surprised to see negative reviews and that's why I'm writing this one. I use this app for storing all sorts of info and find the fact that it syncs with my Mac and Windows machines via the cloud app to be most convenient. As I drive away from a client I use Evenote to make after meeting audio notes about follow up etc. When I've not enough time at home to read something I throw it into Evernote and read it when I've got spare time when out and about. I even take photo notes and use the geotag feature so I can locate a place again for example a good restaurant or shop. Give evernote a go I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised. Jim .. Australia

Bandwidth and storage are not the same thing...  rating of Evernote
By: GoLuker - Oct 4, 2009
Version: 3.1.0
First of all, I use Evernote on my PC at work, my Mac at home, and my iPhone everywhere else. I love that whenever I add a note or file to Evernote at work, it is almost instantly available to me at home and on my iPhone.
I have been reading a lot of "misinformation" in the previous reviews and felt compelled to correct a few of the biggest offenders.
First off, Bandwidth and storage space are not the same thing. Evernote DOES NOT limit your storage space. They only limit how much you can transfer (per month) over the internet into to your account. Bandwidth is expensive, just ask Comcast. They "cap" their cable internet subscriber's monthly bandwidth as well. When you first start using Evernote, you may come close to (or even exceed) your limit because you are adding everything and the kitchen sink. After that, most people will stay far under their limit. And for those who want to use Evernote to store a bunch of High resolution pics? Try Flickr. Evernote isn't meant for that.
Next up, I am lucky enough to like in an area with very good 3G coverage so I always have all my notes available to me on my iPhone. However, for those of you who aren't so blessed, you can just mark any note as a favorite and it will be available to you even if you aren't connected to the network.
Lastly, If you want to add "private" notes, then encrypt the text within them using either the Windows or Mac client.

The best note taking solution ever  rating of Evernote
By: PDC Larry - Oct 3, 2009
Version: 3.1.0
With versions for iPhone, Windows, Mac and web access this app is a must have for anyone who needs to have notes always at hand. Notes entered on the iPhone apprear instantly on a secure web portal as well as the Windows and Mac platforms - no need to sync. the iPhone in addition can take photo notes and voice notes. All platforms add web clippings to notes, documents to notes and graphics import notes. And you can search the text in a graphic!
The Windows and Mac versions have a built-in outliner. Notes can be tagged, sorted, searched and grouped into notebooks. Notebooks can be shared. No more dealing with hundreds of Word or Notepad (or TextEdit) documents; all notes are maintained in chronological order on a continuous "tape" that you can scroll.
Endorsed by the Wall Street Journal's Walt Mossberg, and he got it right. This is the most useful app I have on every platform; I use it many times a day. And I have been for 4 years.
With the companion app Jotnot to edit photos of documents the graphical note function has become the next best thing to being there.

Great app hampered by iPhone limitations  rating of Evernote
By: Adwiz - Oct 1, 2008
Version: 1.3
I love Evernote and this application has great potential. Unfortunately, it is hampered by Apple's short-sighted lack of selection and copying ability. So you can write new notes or view the ones you've collected elsewhere, but you can't do much to edit them. Once (or perhaps if) Apple allows you to select text, then it will become a must-have app. The entire concept and how it integrates with the desktop through the online server is a stroke of genius, and works exceptionally well.

My favourite app by a mile  rating of Evernote
By: Disorganised random thoughts - May 18, 2009
Version: 2.0
This is a really fabulous idea. It allows you to collect notes together, regardless of what platform you are using. I have a mac at home, pc at work, and iPhone. Until now, there has been no good way of taking notes on all of these and keeping them synced. I tried ominfocus/ MobileMe /google notebook, but this works best for me by a long way. The iPhone app is really intuitive, and well put together. I wish it were a little faster, but that's true for most apps. Huge thumbs up from me. This is now on my front page, being used all the time.

For me, the Ultimate iPhone App  rating of Evernote
By: maliVuk - Sep 19, 2008
Version: 1.3
I have been using Evernote for several months on my iMac at home and iPhone. I will soon add it to my MacPro at work when it is upgraded to Leopard. Store everything and anything with mutiple input methods. I am storing account records (with sensitive data separately encrypted and de-cryptable on the iPhone), personal medical records, medical insurance claims, interesting websites, receipts, recipes, take-out menus, handwritten notes, PDF's, specifications of products I own, and old documents that I am archiving just in case. From work I have been storing procedues, regulations, iPhone photos of equipment test setups with notes, finished calculations and important emails. They are organized in relevant notebooks to limit searching, but with tags and the built in text searching, even if I forget which notebook something is in, it is still retrievable. Everything is available at my finger tips on my iPhone. This App can do what at least 50% of the Productivity and Utility Apps are trying to do and a lot more. I have asked Evernote to allow easy copying, or even better, synching of notes to local storage as a backup to the Evernotes server and to preserve a users efforts independent of Evernote. Try it, I hope you find it as incredibly useful as I have.

Evernote is wonderful  rating of Evernote
By: MartianVideo - Jul 10, 2008
Version: 1.0
Evernote is writing/journaling/databasey/notecentric/multimedia awesomeness. I'd been cobbling together things similar to Evernote for quite awhile in the form of Omnioutliner, Journler, and some other software but nothing quite worked. Evernote is the simplest most elegant solution I've found.
One problem though is that it's exceptionally hard to quantify EXACTLY what you would use evernote for. A couple of examples for what I'm using it for right now:
-A wine index. I wanted a place to record all the wines I'd tried. With evernote, I take a picture of the label (iphone, isight on the computer) and type the cost and what I thought of it. Evernote automatically indexes the text IN THE PHOTO of the label and makes that info searchable. Boom that info is archived and available to me via a spotlight search.
-A daily writing program. I spend time on the train in the morning writing. Pretty straightforward.
-A catch-all kind of drunk drawer for information. If I register for an account on some website (as every frickin new thing requires you to do these days) I clip the website to evernote and save my login/pass. Then when I can't remember what the heck the password was I pop open evernote and type BSweb20site.com and BOOM, up pops that info.
Thats a couple of the things. Evernote has fairly robust tagging abilities too to make it easier for you to cross reference this kind of thing, if you choose to do it. But one of the nicer things about it is that ALL THIS INFO syncs. it's accessible through the webrowser, your phone, and any computer you install the client on.
He has a free version and a pay version that is $40 a year. Pay version nets you some nice extras, including more space for syncs.
Do yourself a favor and download it. Plus watch the video he has. Does a better explanation of explaining the service than I did.

Most Useful Program on iPhone  rating of Evernote
By: RussOniPhone - Sep 11, 2008
Version: 1.3
This is the stuff that makes owning an iPhone that can install applications worth it. This program made me rethink my methodology for remember anything, save just about any web page, text note, audio note, PDF files, web links, photos from both your Mac, Windows, mobil device. The searching ability for these notes later is incredible here you can search from TAGS, text within an image file and even handwriting every photo you save Evernote will perform an OCR recognition and give you the ability to search from the text within that image, it's incredible you got to start using this. Cool iPhone interface, portable version that fits on a thumb drive ( Windows Only ) if your worried about security you can have all these files stored on your local drive, the fact they are automatically synced to all your computers is HUGE, I can run the iPhone App do a search on a saved search setting and pull up those files on my iPhone. I tell everyone I know that they MUST check this program out. My best thing I like about this is I can create a voice note on the iPhone flag it as a Todo and later search on that Todo note and listen to it and even mark it with their check box that I listened to it. This program has so much going for it... Thanks Evernote!!
Added September 10th - I just can't stop talking about this program if you don't have or find a use for this program your really missing something GREAT. Found out another cool thing today encryption is supported on the Mac desktop application all you do is highlight the text you want encrypted right click set your password DONE and you can even decrypt right from the iPhone, and another feature they added too was it will record the location you made a note, picture, audio at and later you can search when you return to that location Evernote will pull up that note. How cool is that...

Best app I've seen and it's free!  rating of Evernote
By: The_Good_Names_are_Always_Taken - Sep 9, 2008
Version: 1.3
I wasn't thrilled when I realized the notes don't get stored on your iphone. If you're not in a service area you're S.O.L.. If they change that this will be a pretty much perfect app. It'd definitely be worth paying some $$$ then, but I hope it stays free.
Being able to make quick notes on my computer and have them automatically appear on my iphone is amazing. It's saved me tons time already. This developer needs a nobel prize or something for making my life easier.

FIVE STARS... all the way!!  rating of Evernote
By: DarkClouds - Sep 8, 2009
Version: 3.1.0
You know how when you're out running around and come across something really cool (or see something that triggers a great idea) and you think: "I gotta remember that" - so you make a mental note (or if you're like me, write it on a scrap of paper)?
Then what happens? You lose it! I hate that!!
Evernote has changed my world. Seriously, the ability to effortlessly capture all kinds of information on my iPhone, and have it automatically sync that info to my computer at home so I can access it later (or from a web browser) -- all for free? Sweet.
A lot of times I'm in a hurry so I just use the built in snapshot mode and capture the idea/info with my iPhone's built in camera. Now what's cool about that is later, I can search for the information I captured and Evernote will actually read the text within the photos I took - even if that text is handwritten, and bring it right up for me... it's insane!
It's been rock solid on my iPhone 3GS, and it's got a great interface which actually lets me see when I created any given note as well as where I was (shows up on a map) - very cool.
When I first started using it, I thought it was saving everything on my phone (and I was concerned about it filling up my iphone's memory) but fortunately, it doesn't. It saves it on a remote server and only brings it up only when I need it. I almost ALWAYS have net access from my phone and if I ever were to lose my phone, I can always access my notes through any web browser, from anywhere.
All in all, Evernote's really fun to use and gives me a bullet proof memory. Most of all, it's helped me capture some amazing ideas to enhance my business success.
Simply put: if I could only have one app on my iPhone, it'd be Evernote.

Love it!!  rating of Evernote

I love this app. Whever I am I can jot down my thoughts in an instance using the security of my phone...no prying eyes of my friends or family who may find a carelessly place hard bound notebook. I use it for everything! I make notes on what to buy at the store, to vacation agendas, to zen resolutions to make my life simpler. I always have my phone on me so I always have instant access to all my notes! Great program!

Great app, and 2.0 is a big leap ahead  rating of Evernote
By: davebc - Apr 10, 2009
Version: 2.0
Evernote's been essential in everything from HDTV shopping to apartment hunting to recording a voice memo while I'm walking two energetic dogs. Love it, and I use it to sync notes between my Macs and PCs when doing research. They've had a lot of updates since 1.0, including marking notes to save offline. Sadly, you cannot yet keep your entire database offline, but that could be way too much data, photos, and audio to save considering the way a lot of people use Evernote. Not to mention that you can save and sync any type of file on the desktop version if you pay for a premium account. Evernote rocks. It is permanently on my first Home screen.
