Faithful users of GoodReader have reported flawless performance with files over 1 gig in size; but that's only one of the many features that makes GoodReader the best app of its kind. Within moments of downloading GoodReader, you'll be transferring files directly from your computer over a Wi-Fi connection, from the Internet or from email attachments. It also easily integrates with MobileMe iDisk, box.net, MyDisk.se and other popular WebDAV servers, and also with non-WebDAV services like Google Docs and Dropbox. With the PDF Reflow feature, reading your documents is a pleasure because it extracts pure text from PDF files and automatically wraps words. This amazing feature fits all of the text to your screen perfectly. That means you never have to scroll left and right to read the text. For a better idea of how on-the-fly reflow works, sneak a peek at the Reflow screenshot down below. With no bars or buttons blocking the text, you have true full screen reading. The PDF hyperlink feature allows you to quickly jump back and forth within the document. Tapping a link will whisk you across a huge PDF book in an instant, and the "Go Back" button takes you back to the page you came from. If you already know what you're looking for, the Text Search feature helps you find your way to the exact info you want in any PDF or TXT file. You can even use the 50x zoom, which gives you a better view, without distorting the image. That makes it perfect for viewing PDF maps or drawings. GoodReader supports massive PDF and TXT files, but it can also handle all of the most popular file types. Reviews:
Excellent. Works as advertised. By: saxander - Feb 28, 2009 Version: 1.0 I just bought this app like 10 minutes and I have already uploaded several pdfs to my ipod touch, they all work. I even uploaded a nasty pdf file where every page is actually an image and is 50MB in size, but Good Reader handled it just fine. I just wish that I could simply rotate the page without having to click that little button in the corner, or even better yet have the option of rotating by using the button or simply rotating ipod. Not that it really matters. Another good thing is that you can also use it to store files on your ipod and share over a wifi connection (essentially transforming your ipod into a file server). Note: For windows users, make sure that you create a network drive with the url given by Good Reader, then you can use just like a regular drive on your pc (make sure GoodReader is running and is in transfer mode). If you don't know how to create/map network drive follow instructions that come with Good Reader, or search online. To upload your stuff simply copy your files to the network drive on your pc. If you just type the address into internet explorer you won't be able to upload anything, just view the files.
Very useful program By: Hey_Hey - 06-May-2009 Version: 2.1 This has a simple interface and is easy to use. The readability of pdf files is very good and the syncing facility is extremely useful and easy to operate, though a little slow (but not a problem). I recommend this application as it allows the iphone to become a very handy document reader, including any pictures and diagrams within pdf file, and the files stay perfectly formatted. There is no need to buy a Kindle or other book reader with apps such as this.
Best of any platform By: Corsair8X - 10-Oct-2009 Version: 2.3 This has allowed me to read PDFs that no other portable device has. I've thrown every single PDF that I was unable to read prior to getting this and it has not failed yet. These were PDFs that I was unable to have rendered correctly on other devices as well. Not one single failure. Even a couple that were a couple hundred megs have rendered without choking and without issues. So happy I gave this one a chance.
Stop Looking for a PDF Reader. By: GTD Meister - Nov 1, 2009 Version: 2.3 No brainer. If you read PDFs on your iPhone, drop 99 cents here and you can quit looking for a reader. The reflow feature turns a PDF into just what you want to =read=, sans all the pretty bloat of native PDFs. 50 meg PDFs flow like text files (haven't tried it on anything bigger). Install the PC/Mac utility and transfer PDFs easily to the iPhone. Then there's scroll, font preferences and a bunch of other stuff that I won't even mention. Excellent productivity tool with which to catch up on "read & review" material while waiting in line or for a meeting to begin. I print web articles to PDFs and transfer them to the iPhone so I always have a variety of material to choose from.
Amazing!!! By: rawdmon - 21-Oct-2009 Version: 2.3 I've been using it for like 5 minutes and I'm already blown away. I was able to upload files to it via a standard web browser (no third party software required) over wifi. I also love the fact that there's a button to rotate the screen rather than relying on the accelerometers. It allows you to read in any position without the screen jumping around on you. If you need a PDF reader on your iPhone I HIGHLY recommend this!
Works great for reading scripts in PDF By: screenplayer - Jul 1, 2009 Version: 2.1 I read a lot of screenplays and it seems now emailing a PDF has replaced sending hard copies more often than not. But who wants to print reams of loose leaf paper and who wants to sit at a computer reading scanning PDFs for hours on end? For reading scripts while lounging comfortably or on the go this ap is easy to use and (unlike another reader ap I tried) maintains the proper formatting of the original file. Worth the price.
The best PDF viewer for iPhone By: Bigfellahull - 12-Apr-2009 Version: 2.0 I reviewed version 1.0 and although I was very impressed, it still fell short of being the perfect pdf viewer. I contacted the developer of the app and explained my thoughts. He was very helpful and said they were working on version 2.0 which would address my concerns. So I was very excited to try out the new version. What an improvement! As I said, I was very impressed with the original version, but this simply blows all other pdf readers out of the water! The transfer between my computer and the phone was very fast. The opening of the pdf was very fast. Every page renders very fast - even graphic heavy files! They scroll very smoothly and zooming is handled very well. The developer has thought about what we need when reading. The option to disable the auto rotation is a god send (Otherwise reading in bed is very difficult!) and the ability to go to any page is fantastic. All in all a great app. By far the best out of the many pdf viewers I have tried. I highly recommend this app if you enjoy reading pdfs on your iPhone.
Great for PDF files! By: Kadoogan - 23-Mar-2009 Version: 1.1 I have tested two PDF files with this, one over 2000 pages (mainly text), and another just under 30MB of mixed text and graphics, and Good Reader handled both of them just fine. Other apps would have crashed due to lack of memory, but the idea of this app, to only load a section at a time, seems to work well from my tests so far. Connecting from my Mac was simple, and the app seems to work fine for images, videos etc. From my use so far it has done exactly what it says it will!
Excellent App, Excellent Support By: Adam Glass - Jun 24, 2009 Version: 2.1 I bought this app because I want to carry a set of HTML pages with me, and have access to them even without an internet connection. This app lets me copy the pages from my computer to the iPhone and then view them. Some of my pages have links to another page within the set, and they work within the app. I had a couple of initial issues (on my end), and the developers responded to my messages almost immediately with the right answers. I am very impressed by the software and by the people behind it.
Better off not update By: RWKL - 6-Dec-2009 Version: 2.3 This is one of the few apps I have that does need to update. I would rather have USB transfer over being able to open PowerPoint files anyday. Besides, I have apps to open Offices files. PDF files opens in no time, love it. Password protected, also love it. (even better if password can be set for selected files)Still able to transfer via USB, treasure it! Will not update this app unless USB transfer is enable again.

Good Reader (v2.3) is a Great Reader By: sck77 - Oct 13, 2009 Version: 2.3 This app has been a star performer for me in my line of work which requires me to view very large PDF, Excel, iWork, and Word files on the go. The added feature of "Find" within my 300+ page PDF files is hands down the most convenient addition with the latest update which functions surprisingly quick! I have had no issues with this reader. Moreover, the creator replies to all concerns and suggestions you may have regarding this app in a swift manner. For the price, you can't beat this one.
Excellent doc reader By: Pubwvj - Jun 19, 2009 Version: 2.1 Good Reader is an excellent document reader. I'm doing research where I'm getting a lot of documents such as federal regulations that I must study. Always doing it sitting at the computer gets tiring. I checked out a lot of different doc readers on the iPod/iPhone and for a while I was using AirSharing. I liked that pretty well except that it autorotated. That reinvigorated my search for a better doc reader. The fact that Good Reader lets me turn off rotation and do it manual sold me. The other great features of Good Reader thrill me. After using it for a day I'm convinced it is the best of the document sharing and reading programs. I now enable the wireless disk sharing, copy over my documents and can read in comfort away from my deks. As a bonus, Good Reader is able to display my Adobe Illustrator drawings, maps & floor plans typically, which I hadn't expected. They are Postscript. An added bonus. The one feature request I would make is to some how better deal with documents that are laid out in two or three columns of text. Perhaps Good Reader could have a setting where in it automatically recognizes columns and then scrolls down them in turn, back up to the next column on that page, down and backup and then down to the top of the first column of the next page. Of course, some docs mix columns just to make life more interesting for the reader... Update 20090619: I use this App a _lot_. Great App. A feature I would like to request is that it handle aliases. I would like to have my main computer backin up my work nightly to GoodReader and have a folder of "To Be Read" documents which would contain aliases to the actual documents.
Excellent and FAST PDF reader! By: shazzbot - Jun 19, 2009 Version: 2.1 I downloaded this surprisingly easy to use application, so I could read PDFs of my sheet music. It saves me having to print out my guitar arrangements on paper and just save them as PDFs. I then transfer the PDF scores to my iPod Touch using wifi. The reader works amazingly fast and is very intuitive for scrolling, page turns, and zooming in or out. Now I can memorize tunes and carry them in my pocket for quick reference!
Simply The Best For eBooks In PDF Form By: soVeryHappyWithThis - 5-Oct-2009 Version: 2.3 Was a huge fan of that "other" popular reader until I tried using it with books in pdf form. The desktop app never converted the files properly and formatted them wrong. Enter Good Reader and all my problems are solved. Never using the other app again. Reflow and auto-scrolling makes reading your documents a joy. No more constantly tapping the screen to get to the next page. The only problem is that I can never go back to real paper books again... and I don't think that's a problem at all. Just a hint... dark green text on a black background is so very easy on the eyes when reading at night.
Slick, polished, worth every penny By: Jay Cagey - Oct 31, 2009 Version: 2.3 This is one of the few apps that actually made me giddy as I learned to use it. Among other things, I'm delighted that the developer found a free solution for transferring docs over USB. I also love the clever features such as being able to lock the horizontal scroll. I don't have the best eyesight, so being able to zoom the text to fill the screen and then scroll down without having the text slide around from side to side, is a HUGE plus.A lot if people ask me for advice on what iPhone apps they should get. I don't always tell them to use whatever I use since everyone has their own needs and abilities/skill level - I'll usually throw out 1 or 2 suggestions which I think may suit them. However, when it comes to a PDF reader, I'll always respond "Good Reader" without hesitation.
#1 APPLICATION!!! By: Massters - Sep 24, 2009 Version: 2.3 I am trying to use my iPod touch primarily as a fully functional PDA. For me USB file transfer is crucial. Not just to-and-from my home computer, but any computer – at work, public library, etc., because Wi-Fi is not always available. Makes you wonder why nobody came up with this brilliant idea sooner. The next logical step would be to create a text editor compatible with this wonderful application. Thank you, guys.
Superb! By: iKith - Oct 31, 2009 Version: 2.3 Perfect application. Probably the most useful application in the whole app store. Don't waste your time with anything else - now supporting USB file transfer...making this the ONLY choice for file management on your iDevice. Also tested with some large .pdf files, works like a charm. I was very surprised by how easy to navigate the menus were, and managing files on the device itself could not be easier. 5 stars, 3 cheers, and 2 thumbs up!
Absolutely Amazing By: Ucsbdoc72 - Nov 4, 2009 Version: 2.3 I have never been so pleased by an app before. Does everything it clams flawlessly and the level of support is amazing with extensive in app "how to" guides. It opens and navigates PDFs faster then the default viewer does and has many "bonus" features like horizontal lock, table of content support, and auto scroll which make this app a must have if you want to use PDFs on your iPhone. I was most interested in being able to store email attachments on my phone for later viewing but I got so much more. (learning how to get email attachments requires reading a well written "how-to" on the app and if I could figure it out anyone could). Bravo on an amazing app.
Best and Fastest PDF reader available By: MWR1 - Jun 12, 2009 Version: 2.1 I've spent some money on the various apps for pdf reading since I have very large PDFs that can take a long time to load. Usually the apps take forever to render, but Good Reader is the best available. For a 7 mb file, it takes about 8-9 seconds to change pages. One of the better features is bookmarking. For those of you who have adobepro, the bookmarks you make in adobe are retained when imported into Good Reader. This is a lifesaver for me since I am often reading large pdfs with endnotes. I simply go to the bookmark for the endnotes and then go back to the text. It would be nice if it was a little faster, but I think that's asking too much and it is definitely the fastest of the apps available.
Works as described and simple to set up By: res eng - 3-Oct-2009 Version: 2.3 This is fantastic. I am not that knowedgable on the technical details of data storage and viewing on the iPod Touch. I found set-up of this software very easy. The USB file transfer using the recommended iPhone-Explorer for Windows freeware worked first time with very clear instructions on the web site. I now have over 80 MB of pdf technical manuals for my vintage car available on the iPod, all organized in sub-directories! The largest single file so far is 31 MB, complete with text and diagrams, and it opens perfectly within Good Reader. Still need to look over the various navigation tools, features, etc., but so far this is just the ticket.
