Description:

GPush has delivered over 15 million Gmail notifications.
New submitted features include:
- launch Gmail from notification
- new sound choices
- clear badge counter
- support for symbols in password
- app now supports google voice notifications
GPush is the missing link between GMail and the iPhone. For the first time, receive instant Gmail message notifications on the iPhone. For Best results, place the GPush app icon above your mail icon - this will allow you to quickly open your mail app if new messages come in through GPush.
BlackBerry became very popular, in part because it offers remote users "instant" e-mail; new e-mails appear on the device as soon as they arrive, without the need for any user intervention, in what is referred to as “push email.” For the first time, using GPush, iPhone users will be able to receive their GMail new message notification instantly and no longer have to wait up to an hour to be notified of new email. Push email has the added value of reducing battery consumption considerably. GPush even lets the iPhone user choose how to be notified of new email. Your options include having the phone vibrate, ring, display the email message on the standby screen just like an SMS , or simply have the GPush icon show how many new messages are unread.
Features:
* Instantly receive Gmail new message notifications on the iPhone
* Set it and Forget it: All you have to do is download the app and decide how you want to be notified of new email. You never have to open the app again after that.
* Improved battery life: GPush uses less battery since it relies on push notifications rather than data fetching ("pulling")
* Ability to see emails on the standby screen just like text messages
* SSL Security Certificate used to ensure password security for GPush users

Works! Why not five?!?  rating of GPush
By: Marcelo França - Sep 29, 2009
Version: 1.5
The program works like a charm for me. Almost Perfect! Why i didnt gave 5 stars?1- The alert is not simple to understand. There is so many information that makes it a little confused to understand.2- There is no possibility to change the alert sound. And if you revive e-mails constantly, the sound will make you crazy. I would like to change for a "single beep" sound alert.3- There is no vibrate ONLY mode. Or you choose sound or mute. I hope the developers fix that, and them I ll give 5 stars to his app.

Works great! Also figured out a work around for multiple gmail and non-gmail accounts.  rating of GPush

Very happy with gpush. I no longer have to unlock my phone and manually check my mail, which can be quite time-consuming for a serial email checker! Also, I have both a gmail account and a non-gmail account that I wanted push notifications for, so I created a new gmail account where I auto-foward all of my mail from my other accounts. This way, I get push notifications for both emails, and they don't have to necessarily be with gmail. I'm very happy with this application.

Intitially very ropey, but at UK£0.59 and Day 1 of release I wasn't to surprised to encounter issues. Then it worked, then it didn't Situation today appears resolved Badge updates immediately if you read and archive or delete, can take upto 5 mins to update if just read - this is out of their control as google doesn't pass back this info As a reward for patience, will be getting multiple email account added free to this app You do get swift email support

Overall score doesn't do it justice. Great app!  rating of GPush

After the initial bugs were worked out with the GPush servers, this app has been indispensible! I get notifications of mail before I see it in my inbox on GMail. It's reliable and is pretty gentle on battery life. I anxiously await the next version, which is slated to have a view/close button, a new icon, and ability to clear badge numbers, as well as select mail sounds. All in all this is a great App that I think you can't go wrong with.

Update - it's working like promised  rating of GPush

Update, reinstalled today. It's working as promised. Now i have two Push programs (see below)...oh well now i have back up if needed.
After stuggling with Gpush i finally gave up. There is another app PushMail. It works like a charm!! No problems setting up my Gmail account. So far so good. Check it out. Once Gpush gets the bugs worked out I will come back and check them out again. Meanwhile, here is another option.

Can't install on OS 3.0.1 Grrrr  rating of GPush
By: DWR508 - Sep 27, 2009
Version: 1.1
Would be great if I could get back the verson that works with OS 3.0
I tried to uninstall the app to try to remove the hideous icon badge that wasn't going away by shutting it off in the notifications settings. But, when I went to reinstall it, it won't saying it needs OS 3.1. I don't want to upgrade to 3.1 yet in case I decide to jailbreak but it would be nice to get this app back! (And they're obviously not against jailbreaking since they say right in their ad that it supports Google Voice) so make the app compatible with 3.0!

Works Perfectly!!  rating of GPush

Finally push for gmail! Thanks for developing this great app! Don't rate the app badly because there were some hiccups on launch. Not everything works flawlessly from day one. This app now does work flawlessly. Update: Thanks again for your hard work. The $1.99 was well worth it to have push gmail in the interim while google implemented their system. Even though Google Sync released push for gmail today I may keep this app as I do like the pop up notification with the sender and subject information. You guys should probably drop the price to $0.99 at the most for this feature.

GPush works!  rating of GPush
By: Fair Reviewer - Aug 22, 2009
Version: 1.1
GPush finally has arrived! The developers pushed through against all odds and have produced a quality Gmail push product. The issues are gone folks. It's fine to jump in the water! I'm getting push messages with a couple of seconds of the email arriving in GMail. It's *lightning* fast and reliable.
Previous review:
The developers had it in the App Store for a couple of days around 8/7 and yanked it after it completely melted down on the server side. After 10+ days of wrenching on it, the developers said it would be available on 8/17. It is. It STILL does not work. Folks, if you truly want push for Gmail, get the Push Mail app. That doesn't work, never has, and may never work.

It works great!  rating of GPush
By: Jaws - Sep 8, 2009
Version: 1.1
This app had some problems when first launched, but now it works great! It's fast! I usually get the push notification a second or two from receipt of the email. Also works with Google Apps! +1 Highly recommended, especially considering there are no continued usage fees past the original purchase!
Only drawback: Credentials are turned over to the developer. Security conscious be warned. Additionally, the app will only work as long as the developer keeps a working server. Should the developer decide to abandon the app, or charge additional usage fees (I hope not), you will be at their mercy.
I think the moral of the story is this: there are so many people who want push Gmail on the iPhone, they are willing to purchase such an app as Gpush. Hopefully Apple will get the hint, and implement native push Gmail or IMAPIdle on the iPhone, so it's users can avoid 3rd-party apps/hacks like Gpush in the future. But, for now, Gpush is fantastic and is the best solution for getting push Gmail notifications on your iPhone!

It works now, and IS AN AMAZING APP!!!!  rating of GPush
By: RebJen24 - Aug 22, 2009

A lot of people reviewed this app before the developers had worked out all the kinks (which I admit, should have been done before it was released). Everything has been fixed, and this app is BY FAR the best app that has been written for the iPhone. It works perfectly, is lightening-fast, and has doubled my battery life. I cannot recommend this app highly enough if you are a gmail user. It is just as good as push gmail, if not better because of the longer battery life. Get it--you won't regret it.

Good To GO!!!!!!!  rating of GPush

Ok, a few days after writing a very negative review, I have to update my opinion on GPush. It's working fantastic now!!! After reading more and more positive reviews I decided to reinstall the app and it's worked without a hitch ever since. I tried the trial version of MobileMe and I find that Gpush is even faster notifications of email than MobileMe push. I'm glad I gave this App another chance!!!

It works!   rating of GPush
By: JesseRPI - Aug 22, 2009

Finally push notifications for gmail that work! This works even better for me than having the entire message pushed because the notification pushes just the sender and subject line, letting me decide if it's important enough to go into mail and download, saving battery life. I also like the fact that I do not have to dismiss the notification--instead, I can ignore it and the next one simply replaces the previous one on the lock screen. The only thing I hope they add in the next version is the ability to choose custom notification sounds. I've seen people suggest feature additions such as making the app jump into mail when a notification is dismissed. Devs, if you add these features, please add them as toggles so that we can choose whether to use them or not, as I like the current behavior and would not want it to change. Thanks!

At last - push gmail that works!  rating of GPush
By: rendez2k - 08-Aug-2009

Well, some thought this would never get approved but it has and it works (so far). I had to hit submit about times to get it to accept my details but its now pushing my gmail emails as fast as I can receive them. The 2 issues so far are that you can only have one gmail account (not an issue for me and I've read an enterprise version is coming to fix this) and that you can't directly open the mail app from the sms-style alert. A great start to a missing feature!

Great for Gmail users  rating of GPush
By: dmunkee - Sep 25, 2009
Version: 1.5
I've had GPush for a while now, and I can confidently turn off fetching my Gmail in favor of the instantaneous push notifications the program sends. The new update allows viewing Gmail within the app, my only minor nitpicking before the new update which works nicely. I'd like to be able to view or launch the app in landscape mode, since writing response emails in fixed portrait view isn't as ideal. Again, a minor nitpick, since really the app does everything as advertised.

Now works as advertised  rating of GPush
By: Young Daniel - Aug 22, 2009

After a rocky start, the developers swiftly squashed the bugs that were discovered during the initial release. Now I am getting notified of gmails on my phone before my google notifier pops up on my mac. While this may not be the native Gmail push many users want, it is the best option out there to bridge push notifications with your gmail account. Not only is the utility of having instant notifications without draining your phone's battery polling for new messages worth at least 99 cents, but following the developers on twitter, their website, and the live chat they set up to help resolve new problems quickly made me feel their effort alone was worth more then just 99 cents.

App works perfectly now! Love it!!!  rating of GPush
By: Shmulevitch - Aug 18, 2009
Version: 1.1
I downloaded gpush yesterday and after I realized it didn't work I emailed the developers who told me they were working on resolving the know issues with the app. As of this morning it is working perfectly. I am instantly (within 3 seconds) notified of an email with a pop up notification (which can be turned off under settings). This has allowed me to turn off my email search every 30 min saving me tons of battery life from what I can tell already. To anyone that is having issues, all I can say is just know that the developers know of the problem and are working to get it resolved. Trust me, the wait is worth it. This app is amazing!!!!

Great App  rating of GPush
By: XanderMac - Aug 22, 2009

It was a bumpy start but now everything is 100%. Thanks to the Devs for letting me in on the beta testing and for listening and working so dilligently. I unlocked my google apps domain ages ago to allow a msgpush.com connector, once I removed that connector and gpush was the only remaining connector everything worked perfectly. No need to run the risk of forwarding my mail to a 3rd party, Gpush makes a direct, SECURE, connection to gmail. No better solution available at the moment. Looking forward to the "Pro" version (and looking forward to my promo code for beta testing ;) ) 5 stars. PS, if you're jailbroken and hacktivated, quit bitching, notifications aren't going to work very well for you.

Doesn't work!  rating of GPush
By: Maximcs - 19-Aug-2009

Please save your $0.99, it doesn't work, nothing get pushed, not in and not out. I glad I have exchange server! Bought this app for my son but it just not there! I'M+ pushes messages in 2-3 seconds; gpush- nothing, zitch, nada, shum davar! If you want us to be a betta testers - no problem, make this app free, you asked $$ for the product that is not working, you will to get bad reviews! "0" stars if I can!

All problems have been fixed  rating of GPush
By: OzTack - 22-Aug-2009
Version: 1.1
Most of the reviews are now out of date. All problems FIXED as far as I can see as from 20 August (and all the newer reviews seem to confirm that - also look at their twitter site for more input..)
I now get instant push alerts and it also instantly updates when I move, delete the emails. At this price, I think you can't go wrong. I give it 5 stars without hesitation. It it was a listed company I would invest in it!

Works great now!!  rating of GPush
By: Satchfan71 - Sep 1, 2009

I thought I reviewed this app previously, but I could not find my old review to update it. I thought I gave it two stars because it had great potential, but needed some serious work to get it running smoothly. I also saw great, listening customer service behind this app. But, I could not give it more than two stars because it was not working well.
They have worked around the clock and fixed it and it is great. Many say that it give a notification within seconds after you receive an e-mail. I have found many times where I receive the notification seconds BEFORE the e-mail comes through. It is consistent. I love that it shows the sender and a very short subject line to let you know what the message is about.
I highly recommend this app!! I do not feel you will be disappointed at all. It does save on battery life because you don't have to check your e-mail unless it chimes.
