Groups takes contacts group management to a totally different level. With a highly innovative user interface, you get to manage your contacts the iPhone way; drag them, drop them or trash them. As they say, "a Drag & Drop is worth a thousand operations"... or something like that!
With Groups you can:
1. Create, rename, delete, sort, color, hide and navigate contact groups - all in a single view!
2. Drag & Drop single or multiple contacts into groups. Tap and hold on a Contact to start dragging.
3. Send Mass Email / Group Email to any Group. Mail Groups with individually set To, Cc and Bcc selections (Bcc, Cc options available for firmware 2.2 and above). Group mailing and Group emails couldn't be easier to manage.
4. Send Mass / Group Mail to only a subset of a selected Group. Simply perform a search and filter on contacts you wish to email. Group emailing was never this easy.
5. Merge multiple contacts into a single contact in Mass Select Mode (tap-hold two fingers on contact list). Extremely easy to merge duplicate contacts.
6. Remove multiple contacts from a group in Mass Select Mode.
7. Dial, SMS, Email and visit URL/Map Locations of individual contacts by tapping on their name for quick dialing (i.e. use it as a mini-dialer)
8. Search through your entire contact list from a single view. Type a name, a number or anything else you wish to find in a contact (URL, Address, Notes etc) and Groups will list them all.
9. Use the built-in smart T9 Dial Pad to make quick calls and quickly filter on matched names and numbers while you dial.
10. Use 9 built-in ready to use and helpful 'Smart Groups' to help categorize and manage your contacts the way you wish: 1) Singles (Contacts not in any Group), 2) No Name, 3) No Email, 4) No Phone, 5) No Image, 6) No Map, 7) Businesses, 8) Birthdays, 9) Photos and 10) Nicknames. Create custom groups at will.
11. Trash, delete and preserve contacts by dragging them to the 'Trash' Group. This would delete the contact permanently from the iPhone/iPod touch and then from your Computer when Synced or Pushed but will allow you to drag these back to normal groups, and thus restore them at a later point, unless you empty the Trash.
12. Keep your contacts and groups in sync with the built in Address Book, your Laptop or Mobile Me (Please see note below for Windows).
13. Map Out group contacts. For a selected group this will map out each contact on a map for visualizing your contacts
14. Auto-Sort by City or State if a Custom Smart Group uses the City/State filter

Ok, so if you only use your phone for a few people and don't have much of a social life, then maybe this app is to much for you. All others, d/l this app, great update to 1.1 too. Well worth the price. Mass email to contacts, already grouped together, tap contact choose to call, txt, email with all choices for that contact right there on the screen. Best feature for me, sending contact info to others without having to type or write it all down. I mean who ever write a phone # down, no they just call the person they are swaping with and phone # is there. But other contacts, just email (txt via provider mms) at a touch of the screen. Update and edit contact info. I have moved Apple contacts to my last screen. Only thing I liked better on ver. 1.0 - the icon!!

I have dled many contact organizers but this one is by far the best one I have ever user. I love the design and flow of this app and how easy it is to setup. Creating rule guided groups is awesome because they update automatically. Couple features I'd like to see if possible. - integration with google. My contacts are synced with google but I noticed the iPhones contacts aren't as feature rich as google and they don't capture googles groups. If you could make this manage my google groups also I could see paying double. - not sure if this is possible but a "dial with google voice account" option would amazing! My a-list cheat would be complete if I could use this app!Great job keep it up!
Replaces Contacts

I've replaced the built-in Contacts with this app. Most of the other group apps were just lists of names. This app has "smart groups" and really does let you drag and drop contacts and groups.One problem: if you use the last group symbol (lines) to move groups, it seems to lose it's settings (maybe the cause or maybe a coincidence). If I only use "Manage Groups" from the "i" screen, all is fine.Overall: excellent replacement for the built-in Contacts app, adding missing group functions and more.

I tried a ton of contacts apps and this is by far the best. It's fast, beautifully designed and just works. When I found a bug in another app by the developer, not only did I get an immediate response but they released a fix very quickly. I'd love a way to merge duplicate contacts or at least see a dups group, and the ability to create smart groups based on my own search criteria, but this app is worth every penny.

When I first saw this app I thought “Why didn’t Apple make it”, it is so simple and logical for them to give you a tool that is better then the job they did with the Contacts app to manage and sort your contacts into groups.
This slick looking app offers many ways you can add pre-set smart groups, or even create groups that would sync back to your computer.
Using a lot of core animation make it beautiful to use and look at, think eye-candy with function.
Another awesome feature is the ability the application gives you if you want to send an email to a group, while giving you the option to tick which emails you want to include or exclude. If you find yourself waiting at a traffic light, at the dentist's, or even in an airport, using this app will assure you organize your life in a way you will enjoy.
Once you try it, you will think how did you live without it, a must-have for iPhones users, giving us a superior advantage over any other mobile platform.

I have been contact management obsessed for over 10 years and this program is robust, flexible and stable. It has multiple ways to view and find contacts quickly.
Not only replaces default contact application, also replaces need for desktop app when real firepower is necessary. Sync with Outlook is flawless, but requires using folders instead of categories.
Could use option to show company name when looking at a list of contacts!
Great Contacts Program

This program had almost everything I was looking for except being able to sort by states so I sent a request to the company via email to see if they would implement that in a future release. Not only did I get a quick response but they are submitting a release to implement a solution that more than solves that issue. This is a great company and I am happy to endorse them and give them the 5 stars they deserve. While the update did not do what was expected a quick email from them explained what happened with any apology. They told me that another update to do what was requested was following shortly. I stand by my five star rating for this developer's excellent responsiveness and desire for customer satisfaction as this is still the best iPhone contact app for business I have found.
Stable and does everything

Love the smart groups but still can't get a duplicates group? Please!!!! Also smart groups doesn't have a "State" or "Country" field. Also the ability to view the contacts in full. (hide groups on left?). Keep up the good work and thanks for listening-no other app dies it like thus one!

Updates needed please!!!!!!! Would like to do the following:
1. Add a smart group for duplicates
2. Ability to merge duplicates
3. Ability to customize smart groups
4. Load faster please for larger lists since I have over 3800 contacts.
5. View contacts without groups listed on left so you have more room to view full names and would eliminate the need to open similar contact to view which one it is. There may be many contacts that look similar and you can't see the whole name so you have to click on it to view which one you actually want. Maybe have an option to view groups on top or on left allowing more space.
6. When you click on a name, ability to view all info instead of actions
If it could just load faster, i could replace the standard contact app!

Older review: only App that deserves 5 stars. I have tried every grouping app there is and NONE of them works as smoothly as this. Get it NOW! Group emails, smart lists, smooth functions that move easily.... The developer is always updating software also. Should receive more attention by Apple. Please rate it so they can move to top of lists.
Would like to see these features added:
1. The ability to add my own smart group
2. Much faster loading for more than 3000 contacts. I understand it's faster now, but it's still slow. If this can be faster, I will be able to replace iPhones contact app finally!
Still the best grouper on iPhone and never crashes!
Amazing for grad student and professionals

This app is amazing and especially as a graduate student, this is a very easy way to manage new contacts I meet in my professional field so when I graduate, I can easily be in touch for references or manage my community resources. Perfect app.
I would like to see a way to combine duplicate or partial contacts. eg. The smart filters find contacts with missing information like "contacts without phone numbers" or "contacts without email addresses." I find I have two separate vcards for the same contact, one with the phone number and one with the email address. Unless I have a pen and paper to delete one and add info to the other, it's difficult to manage them.

The best app ever! I had over 3,300 contacts from over 10 years of gathering contacts (which made my iPhone slow as sh*t every time I'd type an address). This app helped me stop procrastinating (for over 2 years now) by easily letting me organize and clean out my contacts. A MUST have for anyone serious about contact management.
The user-interface is slick, the functionality is versatile...I wish I saw this app the day it came out. This is by far the best app I have seen for productivity. Also, check out "FEX for Facebook" to matchup pix from ur facebook peeps to ur contacts.

I bought Groups a while back and used it occassionally and wasn't really into it that much- seemed a little cumbersome. I decided to check it out again after the recent upgrade and it's much MUCH better- or maybe I learned how to use it better. I love the batch select and use it to make social invites or to send mass contact info to friends creating their own get togethers. A bargain for what you get!!

This application is truly amazing, no question about it. I see this application as a turning point for iPhone applications experience from the User Interface. I want to see more applications that follows this application.
I would like to see future updates to include more of a task based around contacts or groups, it maybe a premium version of this application.

Keeping yourself organised with all the info at the same time

Groups uses the contacts in your iPhone contacts and organises them by groups separated in tabs. Every tab and contact has a count badge with the amount of contact information we have: Mobile, Home, email, address, ... but it also makes sense of the last actions done by your iPhone. Recent calls, SMS, email, Google Maps location, link and Groups it belongs to.
All this is displayed in Face View option, that lets you see all that data without scrolling. This is one of the high points of Groups that was used as well in Faces Visual Photo Dialer and awarded by AppAdvice. It changes they way you use your iPhone. Instead of going to phone, looking for the contact name, dialing and realising you only wanted to send this person a SMS. Groups allows you to go right to the groups you want "Flatmates" and select a contact or as many as you want.
The killer use is for adding new contacts, since you can create smart groups with the latest version. I create a folder for contacts with unassigned groups and then sort them manually. This has been proven very useful and for the productivity freak inside some of us, this is good. I keep birthdays in my contact files sync'd with facebook, so I can also use the default Birthday folder to sort the contacts that way.
I was doubting to give 5 stars to Groups because the real downer is that it doesn't allow you to edit contacts.
I can't stop recommending Groups to any iPhone an iPod Touch user with more than 50 contacts in their address book and like to keep it organised. Groups has track of good updates and the current version is bundled with a lot of functionality that you wouldn't expect, the same way you would expect to edit a contact.

Great must have app

This replaces group emailers and other contact apps. When you create groups what I like the most is you can click email group (ie friends)and choose what members of the group you do not want to include in the group email. Graphics are really nice and somewhat very user friendly. I would have easily paid $2.99 for this app, no question about it.
One thing I would like to see is the ability to change and choose different colored tabs for each group you create.

My iPod Touch is completely full with apps, and this is by far the most useful and intuitive productivity app out there, and they are constantly updating the app with cool new features.I wish more apps had such an elegant, useful, and easy to use interface.My favourite feature is being able to add and edit groups, something you can't do with the built in contacts list.As well, the tutorials are fabulous.I hope to see more great apps from this company.

I was hesitant at first about buying "another" contact. I thought big deal I already had contacts. I decided I have spent more on less useful apps (which is why I don't write reviews) After the two hours of actually being awake, this program has changed my life!!! I am taking over a business from the ground floor, and not only does this app make it easy, I could do several businesses!! There is nothing this app won't do except make a grill cheese sandwich(wait will it??). I wish I could go higher than a 5 star rating!!!

The update delivers everything promised. This is replacing my Contacts icon on my Dock. There remains an annoying bug though- When a business contact also has a contact name (for example, State Farm Insurance with agent Jones), the section heading is displayed as "J" with "Jones" displayed, but with all the other "S" listings following! Seems like that should be easy to fix, but it's a bit confusing and I'd rather not change all my business contacts to get around the bug.

Groups has changed they way I use my iPhone. With over 800 contacts in over 15 groups, my address book needs frequent maintenence (deleting, renaming, regrouping, merging and more) - Groups allows me to carry out all this work away from my mac and syncs perfectly with my address book. I can now send large mail-outs from my handheld device when on the go, this app complements my iPhone perfectly - 5 stars!
Great app, slick interface, but needs a better icon

This is a great app. Opens quickly (much quicker than previous versions), has a slick interface in terms of appearance and usability, shows photos of contacts, customisable coloured group tabs, and the ability to edit all contact details from this app.
Only one negative... please, please, please can we have a new icon. The original icon was better (if a little too close to Apples icon for their liking). Please can we have a stylish new icon???
