No offense  rating of Keynote Remote
By: Cekle - Jan 11, 2009

No offense to the other users of keynote remotes, but isn't an accelerometer-controlled flip from landscape to portrait a bad idea for a remote like this?
I was ecstatic when they came out with this for exactly that reason. There's no accelerometer controls, so I don't have to worry about looking like a buffoon if I try to switch slides without looking at the remote and my hands are at my sides or in front of me.

Overall a very good app for the price  rating of Keynote Remote
By: conwayboys - 19-Oct-2009

A few comments, great app works perfect over WI FI and works equally as good if you create your own network on the laptop for time where there is no WIFI , the Key Note on the MAc has a variety of presenter tools incliding the timer and buiild markers etc it a pity the same funcionality could not be applied to the app. Still I cannot complain its a wonderful app and works perfectly as discussed. For the developers you should also add to your sales pitch that the same functions can be acheived through apple headphones whilst using the functions of the microphone. Keep up the good work look forward to the updates including the extra presenter tools!! Also love the short tutorial from one of the other commenters regarding setting up a WIFI between a Macbook and the IPhone to use even when there is no WIFI its so simple took me 20 seconds and the app works perfectly go Apple and go Key note app developers yayyyyy!!!!!!!

Suggested improvements  rating of Keynote Remote
By: Hacksan.com - 14-Jan-2009
Version: 1.0
The Keynote Remote is an excellent presenter's companion and a fantastic idea.
The following are some suggested improvements:
1) A setting to allow tapping on the screen to move on to next slide
2) Zooming the preview slide (using 2 fingers)
3) Pointer and marker tools (while zoomed in)
4) Menu to skip to specific slide (maybe in coverflow style?)
5) Button to switch to last used application (same as pressing H key while in slide mode) and perhaps bring the slideshow back on screen
6) Switching between landscape and portrait mode using the accelerometer
7) Keep the price tag at $0.99 and free upgrade for those who have already bought version 1 =P
Thanks!

How to use without a Wi Fi Connection  rating of Keynote Remote
By: Beater1989 - 19-Aug-2009
Version: 1.1
Firstly, this app is awesome!
Steps to use without access to a Wi Fi network:
1) go to your wireless connectivity icon in the status bar and click the second from bottom line "create Network..."
2) Set up a computer to computer network with a 5 digit password
3) The wireless network will be classified as a device in the status bar, connect to the device (network).
Your network is set up, now connect to the network with you iphone using the settings panel and the steps you would normally use to do such a thing.
Hope this helps!

Great Little App.  rating of Keynote Remote

For the price of a couple gum balls I instead have this app to control and give my presentations without craning my head to see if the slide I want is appearing. Simple, effective. Great buy for an app (keynote) I fully support; the presentations I do in this app are helping me get A's in university.
Only complaint, we just spent 99$ to buy the app, why another .99 cents for this, should be free IMHO

Amazing!  rating of Keynote Remote

I love this app and everone who attends my seminars always asks questions about it at the end. I never have to turn my back to the audience anymore to make sure I'm on the correct slide! Great work! Suggestion: allow this to work in adhoc mode so that an Internet connection is not required. I give a lot of presentations where wireless Internet is not availabe nor is a 'wired' connection that I can share via the airport. It would also be nice to see slide transitions on the iPod/iPhone as well. :) Note: the loading gear in the top right indicates the slide is still loading due to slide transitions, not that there is a connection issue and you must wait until the slide has loaded completely before you can proceed or go back. Also, creating a network via the MacBook still requires the MacBook to have a "wired" Internet connection. It will not work in simple adhoc mode... if I'm wrong about this, I would really like to know!

Great App  rating of Keynote Remote
By: 5ILVER5URFER - 02-Jul-2009

I do a lot of presenting at conferences - and this is still the remote app for me. Why? Because it always works and therefore is one thing less to worry about. There are other apps out there boasting more features - shame they don't actually work!
Don't worry about wifi by the way, If there is no local wifi network, I simply create one on my Macbook for the presentation in hand, which takes a few seconds (click the WiFi icon and just choose create network... - and off you go (don't forget to link to the network on your iPhone))
If I could suggest improvements, the only main thing I would really like is a touch pad feature to use as a pointer, and an option to JUST have speaker notes rather than any slide view.. That would get a full five stars.

Great, but how often do you have WiFi where presenting?  rating of Keynote Remote
By: NZMatt - Jan 7, 2009
Version: 1.0
This is an obvious and a great app. However, I personally do all my presentations in conference facilities. I never bring my own WiFi, and what's available is usually some slow, pay-per-day, web-based log-in WiFi network. Will that really work, and how?
EDIT: I now realise this is easily done by creating a computer-to-computer WiFi network just between the laptop and iPhone! No need for an external WiFi network.

Simple to Setup and Easy to Use  rating of Keynote Remote
By: Jeff Donald - Jan 7, 2009

Apple has done a great job on a very simple and straight forward application. It's a great compliment to Keynote and untethers the presenter in most situations. The pairing process was almost too simple. Launch both apps, get on the same Wi-Fi network, enable remotes in Keynote Preferences, enter 4 digit code and your paired. The swipe to forward/reverse the slides works flawless. Presenter notes are small but can be read in different lighting conditions. I worked with it for 20 to 30 minutes preparing for a presentation and the only feature that was lacking was a remote view of the timer. The addition of this one feature would free the presenter from the podium and be a great addition for the next version of this already great app. Well worth the $.99 if you use Keynote on an almost daily basis as I do.

Excellent App! Everything it should be!  rating of Keynote Remote

I bought this application immediately after seeing it, because I knew it would be great for presentations I have to do for my classes in college. After testing it out on a keynote I made, this application is absolutely perfect! It is straight forward, easy to set up, and the response time between the computer and the phone is immediate! Furthermore, the ability to view your speaking notes while giving the presentation is an absolute lifesaver. With this application, I can't express how much easier presenting will be! Worth every penny!

great!  rating of Keynote Remote

I got iLife 09 yesterday, and I think this app is great. I am not distracted by the swipe, which can be done with a thumb as you focus on presenting. Delay in changing slides is minimal. The WiFi connection allows use when out of line-of-sight, and so it is far superior to an infra-red remote control, and there is no need for a dongle as with so many other wireless remotes. For £0.59 this is a no-brainer, must-have app for Keynote users.

Brilliant  rating of Keynote Remote

After getting iWork '09 and messing with the preferences I saw the remote tab. So I went and looked for the application, bought it for 59p and made up a presentation. I have to say, it worked seamlessy. As with the Apple remote application it connected straight away and was very easy to use. Just a note that you won't be able to flick through the slides if you have an animation, and it's still playing. You must wait till it's finished. I reccommend this app, though the icons kind of ugly, but the app is brilliant.

Works as advertised  rating of Keynote Remote

I found this app to do exactly what it said it would. If not in an area with a WiFi network, you have to make a computer-to-computer network by using the Create Network item in the AirPort menu on the Mac running Keynote. After that, select the newly created network with the iPhone/iPodTouch in the WiFi section of the Settings app, launch the Keynote presentation on the Mac then launch Keynote Remote. I found it to be slick and very reliable! Good job, Apple!

Just what I needed!  rating of Keynote Remote
By: gregwyattjr - Jan 7, 2009

This is perfect for my presentations! I used to waste my time writing presenter notes on index cards for presentations that were up to 200 slides long! So once I saw that my iPod touch could save me time and index cards by displaying the notes on-screen, I was sold! Plus, since I can see what slide is next, I don't really use the presenter notes anymore. I can just talk the next slide in since I know what's up next. For a dollar, this was a no-brainer for me! Thank you SO much Apple for building this GREAT feature into Keynote '09!

Worked perfect on a very important presentation  rating of Keynote Remote

I was meeting with a huge client, and my boss was there. Everyone in the room was a PC user and this was the first time I had used Keynote is a presentation. I downloaded this app 1 minute before I needed to get up and start talking. What made this work was creating my own wireless network on my Macbook. You go to Preferences>Sharing>Internet Connection>Airport, name it and share it. My iPhone found my MB connection and I was tethered directly to my machine, so no problems with someone elses router. App setup was simple and worked without problem. I was able to stand up from my chair, walk around the room and interact with people, walk up to the screen and point things out, and control everything from the phone. The client and my boss said the pres was excellent. Thanks Apple!

GOOD BUT NEEDS IMPROVEMENT  rating of Keynote Remote
By: John Guo - Jan 6, 2009

This works really well. I can see myself giving the next presentation using my iPod touch. I do however thinks that the text size for notes are a bit small. I know that the iPhone/iPod touch has a limited viewing estate. If the font size can be make bigger to see easily, I don't have to stare at the iPod while giving a presentation (when I'm suppose to be making eye contact with the audience). The swipe to forward to the next slide is a nice touch. I initially thought that I might accidently forward to the next slide by accidently touching the screen but it never happened.

Overcoming peer-to-peer problems  rating of Keynote Remote
By: Xtreampb - Nov 4, 2009
Version: 1.1
Many ppl say that when using peer to peer network the software doesn't work. The solution involves a little networking knowledge. Set up the peer to peer network on your mac. Connect to the peer to peer network on your iPhone/iPod touch. In the WiFi settings, set a static ip address for your iPhone/iPod touch, the first 3 numbers of the ip address should be the same as that of your mac. To check you mac's ip address go to your system preferences, then network. Click on advance on the bottom right hand side of the window. Click on TCP/IP on the top of the window. For your iPhone/iPod touch static ip address, set the last number to one higher than that of your mac. Next is the subnet mask. That needs to be the same as your mac. Then the router. Put your mac's ip address here. That should solve your problem for peer to peer networking.

Great App - read for using at client sites with locked down wifi  rating of Keynote Remote
By: Randine James - 13-Jan-2009
Version: 1.0
Great app, pretty simple and it works well.
A friend of mine was complaining about it being only wifi and it should work over bluetooth. Mainly as when they give presentations they out on client sites which have locked down networks. Well this is not needed. All you need to do is go to the airport settings on your laptop and select ‘Create Network’, then on the iphone, join your newly created network. It takes about 30 seconds to do it, and it works great. I have tried it in a few places with lots of other wireless networks around with no problems.
As for not being free, my take on that is probably Apple didn’t want people downloading a free application and then realising that you need iwork, then giving it a poor rating.
For the price, a token $1.19, it is a bargain!
