"OmniFocus for the iPhone is one of the best examples of a great iPhone app that I've seen. The interface is simple, intuitive, and it just lets you get your stuff done." — iPhone Alley Editors Choice Award 2009, ★★★★★
"Finding the right application to manage your tasks is great, and it's even better when there's a companion app for your iPhone or iPod touch. OmniFocus for the iPhone is a perfect example: It fits well with its Desktop brother, includes the features you need to organize your tasks, builds task lists based on your current location, captures voice notes and pictures, and synchronizes with your Mac via MobileMe or WebDAV servers. " — Mac Observer Editors Choice Award 2009
OmniFocus synchronizes wirelessly with OmniFocus for Mac, either locally over Wi-Fi (with pushed updates) or remotely through the cloud (using MobileMe or a WebDAV server). OmniFocus uses calendar notifications to help you remember due dates, even when you're offline!

Excellent - and Even better with the Desktop version  rating of OmniFocus
By: Robotii - 23-Sep-2008
Version: 1.0.3
I've been using this application since just after it came out. The downsides are that it is slow to startup and crashes occasionally (crashes seem to be largely resolved with the 2.1 firmware). However what it does, it does extremely well. I particularly like the way it does not force you to follow the GTD methodology and can be used in anyway that you choose to organise your tasks. It is an extremely useful piece of software. I decided to trial the desktop version of the software, and ended up buying it too. That way I can look at my tasks on a bigger screen at home, and see what I have to do when I'm out and about. Just fix the startup problem and this app would be perfect.

I use OmniFocus almost every day  rating of OmniFocus

I downloaded this shortly after it became available. I had not read much of the GTD, but they have helped me learn this a bit. The total winner for me is the syncing between my iphone and computer through mobileme. I can be in a meeting, add something to my omnifocus projects or inbox and it is there when i get back to my desk. The location awareness is incredible, although I have not taken full advantage of it. I definitely think this has been worth the money for me and recommend it highly!!

This has entirely changed the way I work  rating of OmniFocus

I have resisted the plethora of GTD software out there until now. I decided to go for this, next thing I knew, I had dowloaded the desktop app, started using it ... and it has already become indispensible to the way I work. I have never felt so organized before. I list every step in every project I'm working on, assign those tasks either to myself or to team members, as appropriate, and hey presto I now know exactly what everyone should be doing and has done and when. Brilliant! Best of all, I can keep up to date on everything I and 20 other people are, or should, be doing wherever I am on my iPhone. It doesn't get much better than that. Now, Omni Group, just release an iPhone version of OmniPlan, and I'll be like a pig in clover!

greatest app ever  rating of OmniFocus
By: cb131098 - Mar 11, 2009
Version: 1.2.1
This program has totally changed the way I approach projects and has at least tripled my productivity. Tried Things for a while but it simply wasn't adequate once I added multiple tasks since you can't sort by tag/context and due date simultaneously. Omnifocus handles all of that and lets you focus on the tasks you can perform at any given time and place. Even if you're not an acolyte of GTD, you can use this program and it will change your life for the better.

Great App  rating of OmniFocus
By: Kieth Moon - Jul 15, 2008
Version: 1.0
While the app is obviously a bit over priced, it's perfectly suited for someone who is looking for a more complicated note pad. It is confusing at first, but after reading the manual, everything becomes clear. One thing that sets OmniFocus apart from other to-do list qppa is the context feature, which not only let's you type in where the list your writing can be done, but can also search for near by "locations". For example, if I wrote a grocery list, on context I can tell OmniFocous to search for business' with the word "grocery". It'll then find places like Shaws on the map app and direct me to it.

Robust. Smart. Complete.  rating of OmniFocus
By: Androse - Mar 8, 2009
Version: 1.2.1
This is a GTD app first and foremost. If you haven't read Getting Things Done, go get it now. If you're not using, or dont want to read about GTD , you would be best served to checkout Things, or a simple todo app like Zenbe. This isn't just a to-do app, and yes, it's better than a pen and the back of your hand. Most importantly, it's the mobile sidekick to the desktop app that is very helpful to people that have hectic lives - personal, business or both. If you're not using Omnifocus on your desktop then this might seem a little heavy, however for current OmniFocus users, this is a must have and well worth the money. OmniFocus is a very robust, customizable app and this is an extension of a system, although it could work fine on the iPhone alone if need be. Regarding the price...this is an app for someone that has A LOT going on and needs a very good assistant to stay on top of it all. Personally, this app pays for itself every day so $20 isn't an issue - it's a bargain. If you're looking for a regular to-do list, this is not it.

Worth the $20  rating of OmniFocus
By: rgilbreath - Mar 7, 2009
Version: 1.2.1
Okay, so the app is $20. It's certainly more expensive than most apps in the app store but it is well worth the money. Great job of taking advantage of the GPS system, very easy to navigate and an easy to read layout. Takes a bit to get the hang of using the app but if you sit down and spend about an hour getting to know the app, it'll become an app you use throughout the day, nearly every day.

Best To Do App Yet!  rating of OmniFocus
By: Jiubreyn - Mar 2, 2009
Version: 1.2.1
Read the tutorials and watch the video on the website before you start to use the app. This is the best to do app there is hands down. I made the mistake of trying to dive straight in but quickly found myself reading tutorials to get familiar. Context and project may not be what you think they are. :-) Overall? Worth the price and the desktop app is not required. *Mostly if you like having the sync and backup capabilities.

A Must Have App!  rating of OmniFocus
By: zts-it - Feb 23, 2009
Version: 1.2
Many peeps writing these reviews have never tried this app. This is actually the only advanced GTD app that perfectly syncs with its desktop counterpart, either directly or via Mobile Me, WebDAV, etc. Second, this app actually has sub-actions/sub-tasks, rich context and sub-context customization, parallel and sequential project/action arrangements, etc. that many so-called GTDs are missing. The iPhone OF by itself (although it can be used by itself) doesn't make much sense to me without having its desktop counterpart, and that is where OF gets a bit on the pricey side. But for a GTD buff this is a must have app and the best one. If you are looking for something more simple, like simple to-do lists, or a "lite" GTD ... well, look elsewhere and you'll find plenty. For pros, on the other hand, currently there is only one app that does it all - OmniFocus.

Simply Amazing  rating of OmniFocus
By: sirnick4 - Jul 14, 2008
Version: 1.0
This app has changed the way I organize my life and believe me, it's a hectic one. I love being able to put my various thoughts in the Inbox and sorting it out later. This feature is amazing. I recommend checking out the video tutorials on their website for both the standalone iPhone and computer apps. This will give you a better sense of the system Omni is using.
I will say that this app is probably not for all. The project heirarchy system will not work for everyone. Something simpler might be better for some people.
My best advice would be to try the "free" apps first. If they don't quite fit your needs, come back to this one and shell out $20. In my mind it's well worth the cost.

I live in this app  rating of OmniFocus
By: benfsmith - Feb 18, 2009

Granted, much of this app's utility comes from using the desktop app, but it's truly awesome. I depend on this app to keep me organized, which is no small feat. I have tried a zillion tools and approaches over the years. I don't religiously adhere to GTD, yet OF is able to accommodate my approach by being incredibly customizable. Highly recommended. I do wish the iPhone app were a bit faster on load time.

Simply the best  rating of OmniFocus
By: Maccabbee72 - Feb 18, 2009
Version: 1.2.1
Any naysayers on here don't even know what "GTD" means. If you don't, it's ok. I too was reluctant to learn a system of organization until I became CEO and couldn't manage everything without being overly stressed. Rwesd the book "Getting Things Done." At least the first 50 pgs of the book and then watch the OmniFocus video and see how it all falls into place. My life and work has incredibly become more manageable in 5 days because I know where everything is and when it needs to be done. Kudos Omni guys!!

Flawless  rating of OmniFocus
By: Phenobarbarella - Feb 11, 2009
Version: 1.2
If there's one thing the folks at OmniGroup know how to do well, it's create near-bulletproof software. Their Mac software virtually never crashes, and OmniFocus for iPhone is of the same breed. But mere stability isn't what makes OmniFocus such an astonishingly powerful task manager -- which it is. The power comes from one of the most difficult tricks in software engineering of all: creating an application which has been thought through by the developers from every possible potential point of view a user might have, and then addressing all of those needs in such a way that keeps only the most-needed and frequently-used features near the surface, in the interface, but keeps the rest of the functionality "under the hood." With OmniFocus you can be as simple - or as complex and detail-oriented as you wish. This application - especially when paired with the desktop version - allows you to do the full GTD monty, if that's your thing, but it can also function as simply as other task managers with far less "under the hood" organizational power, if you prefer that.
The killer feature of OmniFocus on the iPhone is the tight-as-a-drum integration of both some kind of directory lookup for businesses (I assume yellowpages.com, but who knows?) and the iPhone's native GPS functionality. With an iPhone 3G, you can create contexts for very general categories, such as "hardware stores" or "grocery stores," using the "Business Search" feature....and from then on, every task you assign a context of "grocery store" to will make OmniFocus use your GPS location and then look up every grocery store (or whatever) close to you. Don't like to throw it that wide-open? You can be more specific by entering in only "Whole Foods" or "Piggly Wiggly," which will give you the locations of only those stores which are closest to you. Or you can enter in a specific address, either manually or from your address book, such as the address of a remote office, or a friend's house. Then, when you're out, tap "nearby" and OmniFocus will order your available tasks IN ORDER OF PROXIMITY TO YOU. That's almost too cool to be believed just in general, but think of the possibilities if you're someone who travels a lot on business.
I simply disagree with other reviewers who say this application has a steep learning curve. It doesn't. It can be made to function quite elegantly as a VERY complex tool, if that's what you desire from it, but that's not OmniFocus talking, it's you. If you need something far simpler, OmniFocus adapts effortlessly to that, as well. The range of syncing options is very broad, ensuring that virtually everyone will find at least one way which will work for them, and - having used Things for the iPhone, I can say with certainty that OmniFocus's interface is just as un-cluttered.
Can't recommend this application highly enough, especially when combined with its desktop older sibling. Yes, approximately $100 is definitely on the high-side for what can be summarized - if you look at in a very strict sense - as "only" a To-Do application. But the stability, ease-of-use, power and feature set of OmniFocus make it the best solution for serious task management available. If value is performance-per-dollar, then it's this user's opinion that OmniFocus is a STEAL, whether at $20 for the iPhone app only, or for $100 for the pair.

Amazing!!  rating of OmniFocus
By: JuddFrazier - Jul 14, 2008
Version: 1.0
I've been using the desktop version since it was in Alpha form and I love it. But the design and interface of the iPhone version is wonderful. Very intelligent and intuitive in it's design. I have also been syncing with the new alpha sneak peek desktop version and it has worked flawlessly. The combination of the iPhone and desktop versions and the ability to sync has created a task management workflow that is better, more efficient and easier to use than any I have ever experienced. I'll let you form your own opinions about the price. It is completely relative to the individual and for me it is worth every penny.

Great GTD app - Fantastic having access to your GTD list anywhere  rating of OmniFocus
By: davidjaw - Feb 9, 2009
Version: 1.2
I use Omnifocus on the Mac and sync to Omnifocus on my iPhone so I can have access to my GTD list any time and anywhere. The application is great. I do the majority of my GTD list management on the Mac. Still, if I want to, I can add/update my items while I am mobile and knock things off of my list.
I'd love to see a web-based version of Omnifocus that syncs all my items. That would make Omnifocus a "5" like Evernote is for me.

Great App!!  rating of OmniFocus
By: Mr Potters - Feb 6, 2009

Well I had this now for about a month now and just about every day I find something else that I can do with it. I think this is one of the best ToDo apps out there. If you’re just looking for a quick "jot a reminder down" type of app this is not for you. But if you're a serious GTD'er then this app is a killer, and don't hesitate to spend the bucks... To me with out the Desk Top to sink with its just an average ToDo app. Don't get me wrong because this is by far my number one app I use every day for work. The best feature this app has is the Geo-Tracking of tasks. I have multiple jobs going on at one time and I have it set so when I get to that job all the tasks I have to do for that job are sorted out and listed for me to do for that job. There are so many extra functions that you can do with this app it goes beyond listing. My best advice is to take some time out watch there video's and you will be amazed on how many other things you can do with this app. No other ToDo app out there even comes close.
There a 4 different ways you can chose to sync the app. I tried 3 out of the 4 and never had a problem with any of them. I have a ton of data stored and I had no problems what so ever. It synced every time flawlessly without missing one caricature change.
There Tech support is by far one of the best out there. I had a couple of questions I had sent to them in the morning before I went to work and by the time I got home they both were answered. What more can you ask for...
Thank you again both Michaela and Jameson for such a prompt and professional response...
On the negative side what Iphone app is missing in a big way and it has it on the Desktop version. It is the "Due" function of viewing your To-Do's. This saves you from bouncing back and forth to see what you didn't get too and what you have to do yet, and what tasks are coming up, all in on the same page. I hope this gets implemented in there future updates.
Keep up the Great work Omni...

Simply amazing app, but what else would you expect from the omnigroup?  rating of OmniFocus
By: Avalinx fan - Feb 5, 2009
Version: 1.2
My only wish is for it to add some sort of beep or something when I am near an available action like when I pass a best buy or something but I don't even know if thats possible so besides that its perfect. I use it everyday and don't know where I'd be without it, or how I got stuff accomplished before. If you are familiar with GTD and need its functionality on the go this is certainly what you need, but if your just looking for something simple to record to do's this could work but I would recommend just using your notepad. It was worth every penny of the near $100 I spent on this and the app for the mac.

Great  rating of OmniFocus
By: Will Goring - 15-Jul-2008

Just like it's desktop counterpart, this is a great piece of software; especially when you combine the two. It's expensive, especially if you've already paid for the desktop version, but it absolutely does the job it's designed to. Focus on helping you get things done in the most efficient, stress-free way possible.
Those people complaining that it doewn't show events corrctly have likely put all of their events into a single, sequential project, meaning that OmniFocus will only show the next one in the sequence. I have certainly had no problems with it's "due soon" display.

Excellent piece of software  rating of OmniFocus
By: NickD-London - 14-Jul-2008

I have been using the Mac version of OmniFocus for six months or so, and have been waiting for the iPhone version. It delivers everything I was hoping for. Remember that if you want syncing with the Mac version to work you will need the beta version of OmniFocus for the Mac, but it seems very stable and when the final release is out this will be awesome.
Fantastic software from the fantastic OmniGroup guys. Well done.

Manages my life  rating of OmniFocus

I can't even begin to tell you how much I like my iTouch task organizer, Omnifocus. I enter my tasks, and tag them according to Which Project they are part of (home life, school GOP, help others, kid stuff, etc.); Where they get done (yard, computer, town, campus, etc.); When they are due and any other notes.
Then, I can pull up all the things I need to do soon.
or
all the things I need to do at here, there, or anywhere.
or
all the things I need to do for Project XYZ.
The location part is particularly nifty, as I can set the locations of different errands with GPS and then Omnifocus will list all the things I need to do while I am in that part of town. No more getting home and remembering that I forgot to drop off the library books or pick up the Rx.
