Excellent concept for an app and it works exceedingly well - it has a great interface and is overall extremely useful. However, it is seriously disadvantaged by the fact that when browsing apps, we (the users) are given no indication of whether the applications are actually *good* or not. This is highly annoying. So I suggest having a rating system with two star rating tarriffs; one for professional critics (if available -If not, then just say so!) and another lifted directly from the people who have downloaded and rated it, i.e. the star rating from the App Store itself. Just a suggestion!

TO PPL WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT NO RATINGS IN THIS VERSION:
I notice that nearly all of the reviewers since the update have whined about no ratings in this version.... I'm sorry, but if you had taken the time to read the dev's notes about the update, you wouldn't have come off sounding like dummies... To repeat what the dev already said and you neglected to read: It's not his fault and unless Apple's iTunes Store Overlords change their minds, he is PROHIBITED from including the ratings. I miss them too, but screaming "Why'd you remove the ratings??" in the review and entering a bad rating because of something beyond the dev's control, unfairly smears this solid, handy app's reputation. Stop whining and learn to read imo. Or, even better, complain to Apple about their decision to prohibit the ratings in this app and cut PandoraBox developers a break. After all, they're giving it to you for free, for crying out loud.
This is a great app watcher and has saved it's users a lot of money. Plus - It has what most apps do not: It is both very useful AND free.

Great app, AppZap! This phenomenal program has saved me a reasonable amount of money on apps... and I've only had it for a few days. I spend more time cruisin' apps on PandoraBox than the Apple App Store. It updates with new/newly priced apps very regularly. It's easier to see what's fresh and new on the App Store with this than anything else I've seen. Crazy talk... just get it. You'll appreciate it, without a doubt. Thanks yet again for a great app, guys!

If you are someone that loves apps like I do, you'll want this app. I check it everyday to see what is new and what is on sale. Sometimes you'll find an app that is free for just the week-end. Without this app, I'd never know something like that. I love the favorites feature. I'll find apps and want to explore it more, so I can bookmark and then come back later to check it out next time I open ITunes.

This app is a very welcome & much needed addition, it is very nicely presented & the app icons within are pin sharp...(not so with other such applications...) Pandora Box performs a treat, could save you £££'s and then some, it's very pleasing on the eye & at the time of writing, is free. What more do you wan't...? Edit......Something is now bugging me, while I appreciate that the latest update IS a move forward, I am all about form & not just function......Yes I actually miss the orange 'add to favourites' tab which is now a drab white @ the bottom of the screen next to an equally drab 'tell a friend' tab. I am not impressed by this. However, Pandora IS a very valuble tool for any iPhone/iPod owner. Bring back the colour. After all, when the woman of the title opened THE BOX, was it dull inside? I think not

Faster and simpler interface than comparable apps, it's easy to compare as they're free too :) As someone pointed out, if it remembered where you last got to last time it'd be fantastic, I'd like that too (even though I check it so often anyway!). Excellent development standards for a free app. Thanks for finding me some good bargains plus also low profile specialist stuff I would've missed browsing the app store!

Fantastic App Tracker!!! This app makes it so easy to stay up to date with the new free/paid/on-sale apps in the store. If there is an app you like, but is still priced too high, just mark it as a favorite and whenever the app goes back on sale, PandoraBox will let you know.
Also, I have to give high praise to the development team. They respond quickly to your comments, questions and requests. Very very nice!!! Kudos!!!

Kudos! This app is now the best among four such apps that I have used - BargainBin, AppMiner, AppSniper being the others. Before the most recent update, this was an also-ran. It provides the most amount of useful detail in summay view, while giving good performance on terms of speed. The UI is pretty, Search functionality is swell, rating information is most correct and updated. The only thing I have to test now is how well updated are it's bargains, even though initial tests suggest that AppSniper pips every other such app in that respect.

An alternative to the App Store?!!!

First impressions of this are very good This app manages to find a VERY LARGE amount of new apps that you would never find by looking on the App Store yourself. You can set 'Favourites' as well. Highly recommended.... UPDATE (18th April 09) This app had an update via the App store yesterday, and since then - it no longer works??? I get an error saying that it can't retrieve the data from the server...?? It seems that the recent 'Update' has completely broken this once '5 star' app.....?!?!?!

I was one of those ones stuck looking at apps i wanted every couple of days to see if they had dropped in price. NO MORE! This is fantastic for looking for price reduced apps and new apps. Essentially changes to the content of the app store.
It's organized neatly in a list seperated by "Free" or "Paid" and you just need to scroll through.
I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to save a bit of money.

UPDATE 5/15/09 Oh happy day! Categories are finally here and I couldn't be happier! Ratings are here too! Yay!!! I'm deleting the other app watching application today! Great job w/ Pandorabox and thanks to the developers for responding to the reviews. I'd give this app more stars if I could! ORIGINAL REVIEW I really like this app, but I really wish the developers would add the category name to the apps. Some app names and their icons are ambiguous and I hate that I have to go to the details to find out what type of app it is. Also, maybe the apps ranking or number of stars could be added. Otherwise, this app is great. I love that it lists the apps/new releases in chronological order so you don't have to search the whole list. I also love that you can view the screenshots of each app without having to go to the AppStore. The favorites feature is nice, but I like AppMiner's watch feature better cause I can set what price I'm willing to pay. I also like the interface of AppMiner better--it looks like the store. But all in all, PandoraBox is better than AppMiner. They're both free, so compare for yourself.

I love this app, it's helped me save so much money on other apps. I love the fact that I am always up to date on new apps coming in. The new update which allows filtering of what you want just makes this all the better. I don't see why anyone would hesitate to get this, afterall you're getting a wonderful app for free. Plus it's better than those other app hunting apps, trust me I've tried them all.

Finding useful apps through Pandorabox is now a lot easier.Thanks again! ----------------------------This app is great! I use it to find useful apps all the time.What it needs is user configurable filters specific to app developer names. I hate having to sort through the lists riddled with garbage apps from ProWeb Games, iAppmaker.com, etcI would love a blacklist feature to input a developer name and never have to see the crap their trying to sell meThanks for the hard work!

Great Idea.. add Favorites subgroups

Great Idea.. 5 stars for usefulness!! saves you money! There are so many apps out there, and some are "nice to have" but do you want to spend on $13 or $16 on a great app? Even $2 apps add up. What if it drops by 30%? 50%?
*Add subgroups to Favorites - just like "New Apps" has "Free" and "Paid" subsections, add subgroups to Favorites: Must Have, Games, Utils, Other -- Favorites is a group that you pick to add to, and you get to see quickly what dropped in price, you even get a count of how many changed in price!!
The above wouldn't take much effort and would be of Appreciated use to users. The best way would be to have a Setting to relabel the subsections and allow for 0-5 groups to make everybody happy.

Great App. Saves alot of $$$!!!

Awesome app and it will save you some dough. I use this app more than any other looking for and waiting for bargins. If you see an app you want but a little to pricey at the moment move it to your favorites tab and it will notify when it goes on sale. App has worked great until yesterday. It keeps saying 'Unable to download data from server', please fix asap!! You cannot beat the price and hopefully it will be back up and running soon!! Please hurry!! Thanks for the cash you have saved me and numerous others!!

PandoraBox edges out the competition

I have 3/4 of the "on sale" apps -- PandoraBox, then I bought Bargain Bin, as they are both free. Another one, App Miner, was 99 cents. App Sniper, a similar app, is said to have huge crash issues, so I haven't bought it yet.
If I had to rank these apps, I would currently put it like this:
1 PandoraBox
2 App Miner
3 Bargain Bin
Each has its own advantages, but PandoraBox is a touch above the rest.
- The refresh rate for on-sale apps is extraordinary. I can compare these apps simultaneously, and PB always has sale finds that Bargain Bin/App Miner don't yet list (sometimes until the next day!).
- The UI is much more elegant on PB. For one, when you want info on a particular app listed, it doesn't automatically redirect you to the App Store as does Bargain Bin. It has its internal info page, which THEN you can press Download if you decide you want it.
It's true that Bargain Bin has internal info, but it requires you to keep pressing on the app you are interested in, and then brings up a Menu. Sometimes one forgets to do that, and you have to start all over again. It's not as timesaving as PB. One plus for App Miner is that it's UI is more like the Apple App store, though, listing categories like Games, Productivity, etc. And it also has internal info but the refresh rate is not as good as Bargain Bin.
Lastly, for all those of you who buy apps because of their icons (I know you're out there), the PandoraBox icon is really cool.
Either way, if you are addicted to finding apps, even ones you know you will probably never use, try out these handy programmes. They are godsends!

Not too sure where others are having problems. When on 3G, I've got no issues with load times (just as quick as the app store). Everything runs fine and smoothly for me. I'd suggest a reset and/or uninstall and reinstall of the app via iTunes syncing, deleting it off the phone itself is actually pretty pointless when looking to fix issues :P Of course, it's not perfect by any means and could definitely use a different sorting scheme... Buts it's free :) can't beat that price.

This app doesnt offer much in the way of thrills, but it gives iPhone owners exactly what they need, information on the newest apps, free apps, and bargain-priced apps. The newest feature which allows "author blocking" is very helpful when you want to keep some of those same apps from re-pricing themselves everyday to shoot to the top of lists like this. Usually, apps like those aren't worth the free price anyway. I'd recommend this to anyone who goes app-hunting like myself.
