Description:
Quickly scan the barcode of almost any product with the iPhone camera and compare the prices at thousands of online retailers. Product information, user reviews, etc., are just one tap away! Simply place the red line across the barcode in the camera image. The line will turn green for a second or two while the code is being read. You can later access the list of items you have scanned from any device, at your leisure, anonymously. Email the last item or the last 20. This is the first app capable of reading "live" (from the video) all the 1D barcodes commonly found on product packages (UPCs and EANs)! It works on all iPhone models, even the original and the 3G. To disable the beep, go to settings>pic2shop. You can also choose to start the scanner as soon as the app is launched. Some recent reviews: "If you're out shopping and spot something you want to buy, but are not sure if you could get it much cheaper elsewhere, this one's for you" --Stewart Meagher, TheInquirer.net "The live (i.e. real-time) barcode scanning is seriously cool" --Rick Broida, CNET Reviews "Pic2shop is amazing. I saved $70 last week scanning items and finding them at a lower price at a different merchant. The store manager dropped the price to the competitors in front of me after I scanned products and showed him. Nuff said. My expensive 3gS is now earning it's value for real!!" --Ryan Vital "Fantastic. Works perfectly on every barcode I've tried so far" --junyor "INCREDIBLE!! This App is INSANELY cool (...) it's a BLAST!! :)" --imtigger2 If you like the new pic2shop, please tell your friends! Thank you for your support.

Brilliant By: iMum 3G OS 3.0 - 02-Nov-2009 Version: 2.0 I love this app! I use it mostly for books. Anyone who sells or trades books or is a student should get it because you can find items online so quickly. It doesn't always work as well for other products if they are old or not well known. However I have had lots of success with it so I am pleased. I only have a 3g iPhone so I imagine that it works well with the 3gs as well. I give this app five stars.
Superb! By: Greg cawthorne (UK) - 03-Oct-2009 Version: 2.0 Yes I know, this app wasn't great at first, and that's probaly why it's got a shoddy rating. But hell is it responsive now, works really well on 3G and 3Gs and deserves a lot more recogning than it's got (should be on the top 25 free!) and since it has online comparison it is better value for money than red Laser at £1.19, so come on get rating 5 stars and the devs might make it even better! Overall fantastic and well worth downloading!
Amazing app for 3G S By: wvcachi - Jul 16, 2009 Version: 1.1 After reading previous reviews, this app sounded like a case of a great idea with poor execution. But I noticed some 3G S users who seemed to have nothing but good things to say, so I gave it a shot . . .
I can only speak for my use on my 3G S, but for me, this app has been terrific. I've had a high success rate with the UPC's that I've snapped. I'm careful to keep a steady hand, but it seems to give more leeway with that than I expected.
I don't know about older iPhone models, but for 3G S users, this app is amazing, and a must-have.
INCREDIBLE!! By: imtigger2 - Oct 1, 2009 Version: 2.0 This App is INSANELY cool. Why are the ratings so low!? I don't get it. Speaking of not "getting it", all the complaints I've seen are from users who apparently, are incoherant ranters who can't seem to grasp basic concepts in language, spelling or technology. Wow, seriously. This app does what it says it does, and does it well. Hold the camera back a little, give the barcode sufficient lighting, use a 3GS (for auto focusing), and you're good to go. GET THIS APP!! it's a BLAST!! :)
Great job incorporating feedback of previous versions By: CoolRunnings123 - Sep 28, 2009 Version: 2.0 This version is significant improvement over previous version which I gave one star that I felt it did not even deserve. My key complaint then was the assumption made by the application developer that the average user would be able to keep the camera steady enough to get a correct scan on the first try. I even suggested they incorporate image stabilizing software. Well I am pleased to say the new live scan feature worked on the first try. I was at Costco and I wanted to get information on a Casio keyboard. I opened the application and positioned the phone so the UPC was visible. And before I knew it, the scan completed and it was actually correct on the first try! I was pleasantly surprised. The capture button on the screen that made it that much more difficult to get a steady image is gone in this version! I see myself using this more often now. However I wonder how well it will worked on curved surfaces such as a soda bottle...

If you are at the mall and thikn that you can find a product cheaper just use the app and find prices online) It worked the first time I tried it. DOWNLOAD THIS APP. Expecting updates soon! Do not listen to the people that only gave one star all they are doingis giving bad reputation and propaganda, why do you think there is so many 5 stars???

Works Perfect! By: MJCarrin - 13-Aug-2009 Version: 1.1 I don't know why others are giving low ratings/experiencing problems, but perhaps you should try restarting your iPhone before using the app. This app worked on the 1st try for me. I selected my preferred country, and snapped the barcode, it was as simple as that! I didn't even have to restart my iPhone after installing this app! I'm using an iPhone 3GS with OS 3.0.1. I recommend this app to all iPhone owners. It's never crashed for me. Ignore all the 1 star ratings, as there is no reason this shouldn't work on your iPhone (unless you're using a jailbroken device, in which case a lot of apps wont function properly).
Good app By: Davidr777 - Dec 10, 2009 Version: 2.0 I buy large lots to sell on eBay and this helps me quickly locate an item and determine an approximate value. It recognizes most items and has a backup plan if it can't find it in it's database. In that manner it's 5 stars. But, the camera should be able to focus when I touch the focal point just like it does in the iPhone camera's normal operating mode. It's frustrating trying to get it focussed sometimes and I just have to restart the app. Overall I really like it though!
Nice app! By: SNtikos - 27-Sep-2009 Version: 2.0 That's a really helpful app. It's not going to find every single product but it does the job for the most. The new autoscan feature is great. I also tried the Red Laser app. This one is faster than RL, but RL isolates the results in the app's interface and doesn't have to open up safari. So, that makes the speed even in both apps. So, it really comes to personal preference. I definately recommend it.
Fun to play with...and can save you money! By: alaskanjackal - Oct 4, 2009 Version: 2.0 I'm surprised at how well it works given the limitations of the 3G's camera. I can never get the image to appear clear (the barcode lines are all fuzzy), and yet this app seems to grab the barcode well over half the time (occasionally, probably due to it having to interpolated some of the lines because of the bad focus, it misreads the barcode and produces the wrong UPC). A friend with a 3G S has the app and has much better luck, given the newer phone's autofocus and better resolution. The database seems decent, too--I've only tried a few office supplies and household items, but it grabbed about 75% of what I scanned.4/5 stars. To make it 5/5, I'd add the following:*Allow camera/scanner rotation (to scan codes at a 90-degree angle*"Image-stabilization" ability—read codes from shaky images*DB improvements:**More results, perhaps contracting with More data providers (Google Products, NexTag, Yahoo! shopping, etc.). At the very least, have links at the bottom of the results that say "Search for this product on Google Products or NexTag"**Clearer results (e.g. some prices are for multi-packs)**Use location data to find current zip code and calculate shipping charges based on that zip code (the whole point of this app is to scan codes of products at stores and see if you can get them cheaper online, but shipping charges can outweigh those savings). Google Products and NexTag both return this data from many vendors, so perhaps they have APIs that can pull that dataAll in all, a fun and useful app, and based on what others say about the developer's track record with improvements, I expect many more fixes and improvements to come.

Interesting Application By: Mellow129 - Aug 11, 2009 Version: 1.1 Using a 3G S Camera It does work prvided you have read the directions and have the proper lighting. Functionality is a little slim. It would be nice to choose what stores we get our search results from; however I dont think there is a suitable online database which you can seach UPC codes for price comparison yet. I spent a good 30 minutes today scanning books movies and misc products to see if it could be useful during a shopping trip, but not really satisfied from where the price results came from which were mostly online stores I had never heard of. loads of potential here and its a free app.

Great App but still needs improving By: Cuddykid - 20-Sep-2009 Version: 2.0 Great app, finally we have an app that can capture barcodes!! But...the app keeps crashing all the time on the 3.0 software so hopefully you can get that fixed, also it only reads the barcodes once every couple of times trying! So that is annoying, hopefully with the updated camera on the next iPhone we will see an improvement!
UPDATE:
Much better, no crashing and every barcode has been read correct! My only issue is the awful layout of the app, it doesn't look very appealing to the eye! Keep up the good work though!
Mostly accurate. Worth while. By: TeriTgr - Nov 8, 2009 Version: 2.0 Scanned 10 items in hotel room. Got 7 out of 10 correct. Benefit of the doubt, 3 unrecognized items were generic store brands. Otherwise very accurate. Sometimes difficult to hold steady enough to scan. My scan skill will likely improve over time. If scans wrong #, repeat scan did not help. This may be a problem with barcode rather than scan itself.Did not always come up with price options on items but I suspect that this functionality was meant more for comparison shopping higher priced items. All in all, worthwhile.
Innovative and operates well By: Rocketman00 - 15-Aug-2009 Version: 1.1 Unlike the complaints, I'm going to give a well written review.
This is indeed an extremely innovative app, and I congratulate it on being the first of it's kind. But being first means that the product will have some flaws, and this near-masterpiece is no different.
The pictures may be blurry thanks to our human inability to steady our hold like Halo 3 characters, and it crashes; but those flaws can and will be corrected either by these developers or others experimenting in the same area some time in the near future.
Anyway, here are some tips:
1. Incorporate a steadycam into the app, correcting the blur issues.
2. Do something about that crash.
To conclude my review, I only need to say that this is a wonderful app, and fix updates will make it even better I hope.
