Reviews:
Latest bug fixes! By: evnoic - 08-Dec-2008 Version: 2.3 After working with the developer at Orsome ( Who was very keen to get to the bottom of this ) It turns out, after much testing, this only effects users who have their clock set to a 12 hr format in settings. The next update will fix this for everyone, but in the meantime, I've switched to 24 format. and its working well. I like this application a lot and I would like to congratulate the developer for committing his time to resolving this. He has just sent me the latest beta revision of the app and it works perfectly in portrait and landscape modes in both 12hr and 24hr iPhone settings. I would highly recommend this app and wouldn't hesitate contacting and assisting any developer overcome bug problems. I was only too happy to help.
Absolutely brilliant! By: Fi - 28-Oct-2009 Version: 2.7 This would have to be one of my favourite apps! Works very quickly, clear views and I like the different options with portrait and landscape views. For those complaining about not having all channels you need to add them, they are all there! Unfortunately 7HD and 9HD don't show programs yet but they basically run the same shows as normal 7 and 9 so I just use those, I hope this will be fixed in the future. Thanks for a great app!
Brilliant By: Tazthecat - 03-Oct-2008 Version: 1.5 Never need to buy another tv guide ever again. There are so many more channel available than listed above. Including BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, BBC HD, BBC News, Bravo, CBeebies, CBBC, CNBC, UKTV Gold, Dave, Discovery Channel, Disc.Knowledge, Disc.Real Time, Science Channel, Travel & Living, Discovery Turbo, Eurosport, Fiver, FX, Movies 24, Nat.Geographic, ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, Channel 4, Five, Paramount 1, Paramount 2, Film4, Five US, E4, History Channel, Living, Men & Motors, More4, Movies 24, Setanta Sport 1, Setanta Sport 2, Sky One, Sky Two, Sky Three, Sky Sports 1, Sky Sports 2, Sky Sports 3, Movies Premiere, Action/Thriller, Sci-Fi/Horror, Movies Indie, Movies Comedy, Movies Family, Movies Classics, Movie Greats, Movies Drama, MTV One, UKTV Food, Virgin 1
It's the business... By: XOR - 02-Sep-2008 Version: 1.3 Okay, so this is my 3rd review (now 1/10/2008) but the improvements are superb. Although the application itself doesn't update, the channel and country regions do, so do check these ;)
Bottom line is it's a great app, can crash here and there if stacked with channels, but supports regionality (UK & other countries), nice scrolling view in Landscape mode, a more listy view for Portrait, as well as a good list of channels - okay there will be a few gaps, but ask and you shall get (yes you really will).
Well worth the money if only for the level of developer support you get. The developer's support alone is worth 5 stars let alone the application itself ;)
To all those who want UK (or regionalised) channels:
Use the EDIT icon (Top Left)
Then ADD (Top Right)
Finally the '>' to set your country or region.
Yes you can mix these regions/countries too !!!
Excellent App! By: Kadoogan - 26-Aug-2008 Version: 1.3 This is probably the most impressive application I have bought so far. The developer has made excellent use of the landscape mode to show a grid view complete with program descriptions. At the time I bought it there were a few UK channels but many were missing (Sky Movies & Sports for example). I emailed the developer and little more than 24 hours later all of the movie channels were there, the main three Sky Sports channels and several others. He is very helpful and clearly has a desire to make what is already a great application even better. I have emailed him about adding a few more channels available on Sky (Sky 2 & 3, Discovery, National Geographic amongst others) so hopefully even more choice will be appearing. I have no hesitation in recommending tvGuide, especially at the current price which is a bit of a bargain!
Good app, great service! By: El Oz - 21-Jul-2009 Version: 2.5 When I download this app I was at first disppointed. I thought the interface was nice, and seemed to have all the information i needed to plan my evening's viewing. But while it had ABC/SBS programs and those for the Foxtel channels, I realised that the free to air commercial channels were missing any data. Which seriously diminished the value of the whole thing! I emailed the support address (on the Orsome website). In less than one hour I had a reply. Even better, the problem was fixed after another few minutes. Best service I have ever had. Pity Microsoft/Apple etc don't follow this lead.
Love it By: Quickrider999 - 11-Jan-2009 Version: 2.4 Great app. Hasn't crashed as other reviews have said so presume that bug has been fixed. Another reviewer said there was no abc2. There is and it's under Australia rather than a nsw. I only have freeview channels so am only basing my review on this. Well worth the 2.49 I paid.
Update:
When viewed vertically now the guide isn't correct. It looks like it just isn't refreshing. Horizontal it is still right. Please correct this.
Great App By: scrano - 30-Dec-2008 Version: 2.4 Clearly one of my favourite apps and I can't say enough good things about it, one of the best uses of the iPhones hardware yet.
One of the best things about it, is that it has a solid development team behind it, who not only are constantly working on ways to make it better, but also take the time to assist customers with requests for their own favourite channels.
A must have app for anyone that wants a portable TV guide.
Great application for Australian TV. By: Stridewinder - 10-Dec-2008 Version: 2.3 Note: Most of the reviews for this app are out-of-date, and complain about things that have long-ago been fixed. It certainly deserves a better star-rating than what it's got. It would be good if Apple automatically lapsed old reviews once an update or 2 had been released. This application just gets better and better! It looks great and works well on my iPhone 3G in Sydney, Australia. You can see the day's viewing as a time-line when the iPhone is on its side (landscape). Flipping it up into portrait shows what's currently broadcasting, and tapping on a channel displays a detailed description of the day's programmes. The recent updates have fixed all the minor problems with this application. Plus it seems to run a lot smoother with the new database. There are now heaps of Pay-TV channels available, as well as many regional stations (like Prime, WIN etc.). If your favourite station isn't supported, you can usually just email the developer in NZ and he'll add it for you. At $2.49, this application is now half the price I paid for it, and is much improved in functionality. It's excellent value for money - and better than many of the other apps I've rated as 5-stars.
Must Have! By: Istafaan - 14-Nov-2008 Version: 2.01 I've had this app for some time now and I must admit to not liking some things about it at first, but it has always looked beautiful and worked well with the channels it had at the time. The developers lack of information about what channels were available was off putting, that of course has come back to bite him because now he has a lot of reviews giving him one or two stars complaining about the lack of channels, therefore lowering the average. That I feel is unfair because this app is by far the best TV Guide available, for Australia at least. Channels have been added - I live in Tassie so our channels were thin on the ground, fixed now. Version 2.0 introduced a horrible lag in the performance of the scrolling, that's fixed now. Finally more channels have been added, the majority of Foxtel/Austar/Optus channels are now listed. I really can't think of anything to complain about, the app has improved over and over, the developer has done his job and done it well. I have to give this 5 stars for the current version (2.01) and I might add I paid $4.99, at the current price of $2.50 believe me when I say it's worth every cent! Oh and I encourage anyone that has posted a low rating and poor review due to lack of channels to please revisit your review and revise it accordingly, the app deserves it and so does the developer.

Great application - fantastic support. By: RO-Brisbane - 29-Oct-2008 Version: 2.0 I bought the application and it was exactly what I had hoped for and with a great interface. The only downside was that while it did include some of the FoxTel channels (I am from Australia) it did not include Fox Sports 1,2 & 3. I sent an email asking if would be possible to add these channels. I received a response the next morning to tell me that they had now been added. I would recommend both the application and the company to anyone. Richard.
Great application well worth the money! By: shoyuweenie - 29-Oct-2008 Version: 1.5 Have just purchased this app and have deleted ICETV straight away. For the price of a cup of coffee you get the best TV guide on the App store, so look no further. It is easy to navigate, great looking, has concise summary information on the shows, has some Pay TV channels, is great for travellers (NZ, UK, Africa and soon US guides) and is constantly updated. Some suggestions (as others have noted) to make it a 5 star app. Change to AM/PM view settings, more details when tapping in landscape mode, add regional and Pay TV channels, and alarm reminders for favourite shows or even a favourites list. To those questioning the price and other details I suggest you head on over to the Orsome website and read their blog as to future plans for this app (and no I have no affiliation to the company). So well done team Orsome and looking forward to the next update!
Little way to go... By: Dwaynski - 19-Sep-2008 Version: 1.4 This is a much better interface than ice tv but I haven't got my money's worth in this version (yet - I hope). Clips most of the evening for seven and nine in Queensland. Win displays nothing at all. The program preview for seven and win also show nothing.
I agree with the suggested alarm feature and would love to see the addition of favourites.
A window that can show all shows on all channels that I select for viewing on any given night with timeline would be kickass I think.
I've paid less for apps I'm more pleased with but I've chosen to invest for the future. I just hope the future is soon.
Worth the money/ some suggestions By: jaiski - 14-Sep-2008 Version: 1.4 To all the people complaining about it being $4.99, and iceTV is free, I say you get what you pay for and, you don't pay for iceTV so you don't get much, it's hard to navigate through iceTV, where this is very easy, and it's hard to read iceTV and it's not pleasing to the eye, where orsome TV guide is very pleasing to the eye, it needs a couple of little changes, which I'm sure we'll see soon, as they have been on top of all suggestions. And also for a full colour TV guide you're paying about $5.00 a week and this is the same price and it works week in week out, for one payment, if you want icetv just get it, and leave them a review, don't bash this one cause you're to cheap to fork out a couple of bucks.
Thank you orsome, for your orsome app. (sorry about the pun) :-•
Couple of suggestions, it would be great if you could double tap a program to set an alarm reminder for that program you just can't miss, and tap a program in landacape to get a more detailed view of the review/information of that program, add pay TV for Oz, it would also be great if you could see a week in advance, incase you need to record a program, you can find it.
I've also noticed that the information on ABC and SBS is blurry, SBS 2 doesn't show anything, and it cuts off a bit of the start and end of the day in landscape, also the title at the top that says morning and afternoon, might be better covered if it said maybe, AM instead of morning and PM instead of afternoon?
Once you get these little! things fixed, updated, it's a BIG 5+++ STARS from me.
Great- crash free in general use By: Baritus - 28-Nov-2008 Version: 2.5 Been using this for a week and NO crashes during general use. The guide works great and the landscape view I'd indeed cool. One star missing as I did have a couple of crashes while setting it up with 20-30 Freeview stations. The app has been perfect I'm general use afterwards though.
Also on setting up. There is a logic there but in order to add chanels to your guide it feels like (despite the big '+' sign) that you are deleting them from your list. First time round I ended up with a guide full of stations I didn't want. Maybe it was me being dumb.
I got 2.02 when I downloaded not the advertised 2.01.
Has been a good buy.
What has happened to this App? By: Rob250a - 15-Nov-2008 Version: 2.01 Upadate: the developer obviously has listened to the negative feedback following the last update as this latest update now works rather quickly in both portrait and landscape modes. I am amazed at how the developer and iTunes allow the release of applications that just don't work! I would like to see a Today button in landscape mode to allow you to go straight back to today when you are days ahead in landscape mode.
I got the notification in iTunes that this app had been updated (I had paid £2.99 for it, it's now £1.19) and that it would now show more days into the future, I thought great as it only currently showed up to the next day. It just doesn't work now in landscape mode, it just freezes and is totally unuseable, I event left it for half an hour to see if it would eventually get any listings and it hadn't, it just keeps flikering the working icon on and off. How did this update get through QA, was there any QA?
Great App! By: Barl - 27-Sep-2008 Version: 1.5 This app is just great. Really useful, if like me, you like to plan ahead with what's on tv. I requested the developer to add a channel I wanted. Less than 8 hours later it was on my app! So the developer is extremely helpful and responsive.
So... Your probably wondering why I didn't give it 5 stars. Well:
1: The tvGuide icon on the homescreen needs to be remade. It doesn't present the app in a good way. Maybe a picture of a TV?
2: When push notification becomes available for apps, maybe we could get reminders for when our favourite TV programmes are on.
If these features are added, the app would be nothing less than perfect and be worth 5 stars.
Keep up the great work!!
great but not yet awesome! By: funkyape - 23-Sep-2008 Version: 1.4 A really great, useful app and good to see a nice selection of UK tv channels on there. The movement with your fingers is extremely similar to the 'sky' online tv guide when the iPhone is in landscape mode and is a joy to use. My only reason not giving it five stars - is the tendancy to crash. It is not all the time - but it certainly seems to be liable to crashing. However don't let that stop you - as this is a class program that will be truely awesome if they solve the crashing glitches.
Very good, but a couple of quirks By: Zerocrop - 11-Sep-2008 Version: 1.3 This is a great start, and already a very useful app. It looks great and works well. I found all of my Freeview channels in their list, and the landscape view is excellent. Only two minor niggles... There seems to be a max number of words for each programme info. If the description of a show is longer than that, it just gets cut off in mid sentence. And if you try to see 'whats on now' just after midnight, it can't show you anything that started before 12.00 midnight. It just doesn't seem to be able to access the previous day's listing. Theres a really good web app called Vizimo that can do this, so it's obviously a solvable problem. Otherwise, a fantastic app. Look forward to updates.
A nice application By: brettwl - 19-Jul-2009 Version: 2.5 This app has an attractive interface that allows you to get a quick overview of what is on, or review details for each channel. I use it to get the free to air program guide, but it looks to be comprehensive for cable, satelite too.
Other reviewers have mentioned that SBS2, OneHD are missing, but that is no longer the case.
My one complaint is that it is sometimes quite slow to load program information, and slow to respond to orientation changes. Also, be patient when you are editing you program list - it can be very slow to update.
