I wrote a review from my iPhone but it musn't have gone through. For those complaining about slowness I find that very misleading because that depends solely on your iPhones connection speed. I used my home wireless and pages loaded instantly and when I say instantly I mean before I could look up the page was loaded pictures and all!! How can anyone say this app is slow if pages download instantaneously??? Sure if you are using a slow speed connection then it's gonna be slow but that's YOUR connection not the app itself.
This is a beautiful app - an encyclopedia in my pocket and it does the job admirably and superbly. I would like a cache to be able to bookmark and keep tabs on items I want to research or cross reference but this is as good as Brittanica on your iPhone. It's searches are ACCURATE but may depend on what region your iPhone is set to. My iPhone region is set to Australia and I got correct information when I searched but if you had it set for some other country you might get different results. Like Google. With Google if you use USA you won't get results for Australia. That's how search engines work. So if you're getting USA results and are in Australia try setting your phone to Australia and you'll then see results pertinent to Australia. I did the search for Holden and first up got a singer and Australian Idol judge and did not get Holden cars. Maybe you typed it wrong. Whatever this app is perfect and can only get better but not much.

The iPhone appeals to the largest audience of any smartphone. This being the case, we are bound to have a percentage of users who are not technical, unable to understand anything that isn't a game app, and choose to review products without any constructive comments. / rant. This app works. The UI is simple: homepage with feat. article, search box, back/forward, home, refresh, and history buttons. Search for something and you get the mobile version of that wiki article with a table of contents. Please remember you are still connecting to the web to deliver the search reults, so page return will vary based on your data connection.

Really? I mean, come on people.

Has NOBODY noticed the versions info? It's not even the final version yet, hell, it's not even 0.5, it's version 0.1 people. If it's slow, then it will be fixed by 1.0. If it crashes, by the offical release, it should be fixed. If you ever download or buy software that is not a final release then do not complain that it's slow, that it crashes, that it doesn't load and then act like wikimedia has a requirement at some point to help you right here right now. Because they don't. They choose to release these applications. So don't give it 1 star because it's slow. If it was a final release I could understand but, like I said. It's not.

It does what is says on the tin. Wikipedia itself isn't a feature full site, so people moaning about how the app doesn't do this or that have list me - and I also speak as a software engineer, even though I have no idea how this makes my opinion any more valid than the average person. :) It presents the content in a very tidy fashion that is easy to navigate on the device. The main text is presented in a nice font size that is easy on the eye. A great job!

This app has ALOT of potential! In future versions I would like to see predictive text and search sugestions if I mis-type something. I like how this app has less features than wikipanion. I never use alost any features of it other than searching. If you keep this app nice and simple, add predictive text and search sudggestions, and maybe improve the speed(which isn't too awful bad slow), then this app will replace wikipanion on my phone and I will rate this 5 stars!

It's a decent app. Just to comment on the previous comment, I typed berbatov in and it came up fine. It takes the information directly from the Internet so there is not any less information or stuff missing that would normally be there. And if you want to know berbatov played for bayer leverkusen before tottenham and CSKA Sofia before that. Anyway, like I said it's a decent app. It is very simple, and just simply takes info straight from the internet, but I have found it to load the information quicker when running on 3G signal or EDGE. The few down sides are as previous mentioned sometimes the screen is too small for the information in tables etc, but I have only found that a few times, and you need to get the spelling spot on as if it doesn't find it the search for nearest articles isn't the best.

I don't know if there have been tweaks made since the earlier reviews, but this works smoothly on my new 3GS. What's impressive about it is the manner in which it delivers articles - they are far more readable and elegantly displayed than on the main web site. Maybe there's a case to port the layout back to it - I'll be reading on the iPhone rather than my PC in future. This is more than promising for a Version 1 and delivers information 'anywhere' - which is iPhone / i Touch's strength over lesser Smartphones and Media Players.

People giving this a bad rating are being overly harsh. I suggest at least trying the application before posting a ridiculous review. As they said it's a work in progress, I look forward to future updates.
