Reviews:
Good app By: iphone3Gballer - Jan 25, 2009 Version: 1.4 The only flaw to this app it does not show the percipieation percent. This would be nice because it might show a thunderstorm but it might only be a 30% which usually means there is a small chance that it will rain.
Update.
Now the info is extremely inaccurate please fix this!!
It says the low is going to be 28 but the defualt app and twc says 37!
Awsome! By: Sambuddha - Jan 25, 2009 Version: 1.1 Really couldn't be done much better than this. Easily a top 5 app.
Inaccurate data By: MRYFLYGUY - Jan 23, 2009 Version: 1.1 Does anyone know where the data comes from for "My Weather". I assumed it determines your location but I live in Tucson, added Tucson as another location, and different data is displayed. You don't seem to be able set your home location. I want my money back!
The Weather App For iPhone By: Justin Williams - Jan 23, 2009 Version: 1.1 This app is far superior to anything else offered in AppStore presently. What I like about it that it gives a Dashboard-esque look to the current weather much in the way of the Weather app that ships with the phone, but with much more data. My only requests for future versions is a higher resolution radar map to eliminate the blurriness in horizontal mode and the ability to add cities to my listing by zip code. Typing "Newburgh" into the current version gives me Newburgh, NY instead of Newburgh, IN and I can't find a way around that.
Best *Radar* on iPhone. By: matthiggins - Jan 21, 2009 Version: 1.1 ORIGINAL REVIEW: (see below for update)
Best Weather on iPhone.
The moving radar alone is worth the relatively expensive price, but its trend graphs and autolocation put it over the top.
It still needs:
•widescreen forecast with 10-day (horizontal) forecasts.
•More current weather info like sunset/ sunrise/tides/moons.
•Detailed, accurate current conditions.
•Detailed ten day forecast like TWC app (paragraph form with expected precip).
•severe weather warnings like TWC app.
*UPDATE*
Forecast accuracy is lacking a LOT. It seems like the precip trend graph, current/forecast temp, and even current weather conditions are consistently incorrect. I have yet to see accurate precip trends when compared to the actual and TWC/NWS forecasts. Buy this app for the radar (which is SO AWESOME), not the weather forecasts and current conditions.
To the developers: all these reviewers can't be wrong. Either find a new source for weather info or slowly die out to the bottom of the top weather apps list. Seriously- it's that bad.
Temperature Data is inaccurate. By: JDNic - Jan 16, 2009 Version: 1.1 This app is very well designed and has a great interface, but unfortunately the temperature data is very inaccurate. Here in the Seattle area the forecast shows temps 8-10 degrees colder then the actual temperature. Comparing the forecast data to the weather channel or local stations confirms the disparity. I contacted the company weeks ago and they said that they would look into this, but so far the data is still inaccurate. As it stands right now the usefulness of this app is limited. Fix this issue and I’ll change my rating to 5 stars.
Best radar view in any app By: mbazzoni - Jan 10, 2009 Version: 1.1 This is a solid app, but the radar makes it even better. The radar is shown in an animated mode, using Microsoft Virtual Earth. Very accurate and easy to use. I highly recommend the app at any price if you want a good weather app.
Great layout and awesome radar but poor data sources! By: tadaaaaaa! - Jan 7, 2009 Version: 1.1 I live in Seattle. The forcast is often off by 10 degrees consistently. I'm not sure where the data come for the app but so far I'm only using this for the current radar. The Weather channel app isnt as showy as this but it's always spot on an in tune with the actual local forcasts.
Need warnings & alerts By: Natet4 - Jan 7, 2009 Version: 1.3 Excellent and it has an animated and acurate radar, would really appreciate an update that would include weather watches and warnings, thanks for the cool software!
Beautiful Interface, Glacially Slow By: BadgerFans - Jan 6, 2009 Version: 1.1 I've REALLY wanted this to be a great app. After 2 months living with it, I'm sadly disappointed. Yeah, it exploits the great iPhone interface, and rotating the phone for larger displays is cool. I also like the graphical timeline forecasts of temp, precip and wind. But, this thing is agonizingly slow. Whether over a fast 3G connection or a blistering WiFi connection, the radar presentation and accompanying map overlay is frustratingly slow. Also, there just isn't that much weather content displayed. For instance, there is no lightning strike data, graphical depiction of frontal activity, nor txt/email alerts for severe weather. Frankly, the only thing I love about this app is the large animated radar display when turned on its side. But, it takes waaaayyy too long to present the data. Its almost the most expensive WX app on iTunes. I expected better.
Not worth $15 bucks at all By: erock76 - Jan 3, 2009 Version: 1.1 No detailed display of weather conditions, radar zoom level constantly resets itself, no preferences besides city and F or C, worth about $2
Think before buying! By: Бу®жуй™ - Jan 2, 2009 Version: 1.1 Very bad and not the precise program...!Across the Europe and Russia at all ALL is not precise!Has bought it now I regret, that idlers will not make its qualitative >:-(
Nice interface, crappy data By: AstroJuan - Jan 1, 2009 Version: 1.1 I don't know where MyWeather gets its data, but lately its forecast temperatures have been consistently 10-20 degrees too high. I mean it will tell me the local temperature is currently -16 F (which is correct), but then it's trends line shows its -1 and heading up. I am sure it is the data source that is crappy, but it is strongly affecting my opinion of this program. It has nice features, but if the data is crappy and out of date, it isn't nearly as useful. Its the first program I paid for that I have purged from my iPod Touch.
I expected more (way more) By: dmi7b5 - Jan 1, 2009 Version: 1.1 As I write this, the Seattle area is bracing for what is expected to be the worst winter storm in years, including hurricane force winds, snow accumulation of up to 18 inches in some areas, ice buildup of up to an inch in others. Predictions include warnings of widrespread power outages, potentially affecting millions of people.
This app merely says "chance of snow."
Good but not great By: tknx - Jan 1, 2009 Version: 1.1 This is a pretty good app thus far, but frankly the "stellar" reviews are a bit surprising, cause I have a couple of major critiques:1. The interface is hugely inefficient. The built-in weather's separate panels for each location makes a lot more sense, since I rarely need a bunch of weather places at the same time and would rather have more info on the current location. Fizz Weather, which doesn't have the Trends feature, has a much better look and data density (also the Tufte forums have some mock-ups of high density weather app for the iPhone). An alternative would be to have the amount of data degrade as more locations are added (I am really only using it for one so I'd rather not have all that wasted space on the page).2. No weather app seems to have this, but I'd prefer the equivalent of a RealFeel-type temperature as the main number. That is the important number when you are deciding what to wear, especially in SF which varies quite a bit.The trends feature is great. The radar isn't too bad either. I'd love to see links to various local weather cams for the locations to get a sense of what it looks like.Anyway, the developer seems to have a responsive approach to the app, and I can hope it improves.
good app but... By: dlguns - Jan 1, 2009 Version: 1.1 this is a good app but it needs a weather alert for your area if it had this it would have 5 stars
Great App, Poor Weather Data By: rickhuizinga - Jan 1, 2009 Version: 1.1 The quality and features of the app are great, as expressed in the many other reviews, however the weather data used by this app is not accurate for the Seattle area and often does not match forecasts by other major weather providers (weather.com, etc.).
No Good 12/10/2008 By: Enufced - Dec 30, 2008 Version: 1.1 I removed this expensive app from my IPhone and went with the Weather Channel app. I'll tell you why. Today, it predicted rain at my location which was correct but when I went to the Trend display, it showed no precipitation over the next few hours. This has happened before. It has also erred on temperatures by as much as 20 degrees. For $9.99, I expected better.
seems worth it By: cunningjames - Dec 29, 2008 Version: 1.1 This app is without peer. I balked at paying $10, but for something I'll use multiple times a day it seemed worth it to splurge---especially since all of the other weather apps are (even now) pretty bad. I haven't been disappointed. MyWeather Mobile is beautiful, responsive, easy to use. I especially like how easy it is to switch between favorites; the trend graphs are useful, too. Nice all around. As to concerns raised by others: I can't speak for how accurate MyWeather's data is generally, but it seems reasonable to me (so far) and pretty copacetic with the Weather Channel.
Not nearly as good as Weather Channel By: fcrock - Dec 29, 2008 Version: 1.3 Quite dissapointed in this app. Does not have the locations I need. The radar was the reason I paid $9.99 but the info is not very useful. Could not find a key for the colors on the radar chart. Think I paid too much.
Promising but unreliable By: Weird Uncle Paul - Dec 28, 2008 Version: 1.1 I've had two aggravating problems with MyWeather:1. It doesn't really update your location very well. I left Tucson and drove up to Sedona last week, and MyWeather seemed to get stuck on Tucson or Phoenix. When I arrived in Sedona, the temperature at my house, according to my reliable Oregon Instruments thermometer, was 90.1 degrees. MyWeather said it was 100, which is what it also indicated for Phoenix.2. It doesn't always use local info. On the same trip, the "Sedona" link, which should have been the same as "MyWeather," said it was 80 degrees instead of 90. My guess is that they were getting their data from Flagstaff, which is 45 miles away and 2500 feet higher, and is usually 10 degrees cooler. So, looking at my thermometer in Sedona I got 90.1 while the supposedly GPS-enabled "MyWeather" indicated 100 and the "Sedona" link indicated 80. Not too good!I'm in Eugene right now, and the Oregon Instrument thermometer here says 70.3. "MyWeather "says it's 77 (10% off) while the "Eugene" line, which should have been the same as "MyWeather," says 67, which is closer to reality.Hopefully they'll improve this in an update. In the meantime, I'd only recommend it if you live in a large metropolitan area. It's not reliable outside of them yet, it seems.P
