Reviews:
Promising but unreliable By: Weird Uncle Paul - Dec 28, 2008 Version: 1.1 I've had two aggravating problems with MyWeather:1. It doesn't really update your location very well. I left Tucson and drove up to Sedona last week, and MyWeather seemed to get stuck on Tucson or Phoenix. When I arrived in Sedona, the temperature at my house, according to my reliable Oregon Instruments thermometer, was 90.1 degrees. MyWeather said it was 100, which is what it also indicated for Phoenix.2. It doesn't always use local info. On the same trip, the "Sedona" link, which should have been the same as "MyWeather," said it was 80 degrees instead of 90. My guess is that they were getting their data from Flagstaff, which is 45 miles away and 2500 feet higher, and is usually 10 degrees cooler. So, looking at my thermometer in Sedona I got 90.1 while the supposedly GPS-enabled "MyWeather" indicated 100 and the "Sedona" link indicated 80. Not too good!I'm in Eugene right now, and the Oregon Instrument thermometer here says 70.3. "MyWeather "says it's 77 (10% off) while the "Eugene" line, which should have been the same as "MyWeather," says 67, which is closer to reality.Hopefully they'll improve this in an update. In the meantime, I'd only recommend it if you live in a large metropolitan area. It's not reliable outside of them yet, it seems.P
Over the top Weather! By: TTU Alumni - Dec 28, 2008 Version: 1.1 Simply, I think this app. is excellant. It gives you forecast, Trends, and a radar in motion! Tilt for a full wide angle view! The program had ever area I was interested in including some tiny towns! In current conditions it lists: Wind Chill, Dew Point, Humidity, Precip. Today, Wind and Pressure along with Temp. and a visual cloud, snow or whatever. I use it constantly and have been totally pleased! I would buy it again!
Accuracy By: abrazo - Dec 28, 2008 Version: 1.1 The radar maps "in motion" have been quite accurate. If the designers could add pressure fronts, I would be 5 stars delighted. Worth the price!
Not to shabby By: TheJester493 - Dec 28, 2008 Version: 1.1 Overall not a bad application. Radar detail is amazing, however for $10 I would expect to see detailed forecasts and severe weather alerts.
Getting There By: synthblock - Dec 28, 2008 Version: 1.1 It's good to see this app being updated and hopefully this trend will continue to improve MyWeather Mobile. As others have said the radar continues to be problematic; it's a bit fuzzy and redraws itself (slowly) a lot. The trend data is getting there but it would be nice to tap on each day to see the projected data for that individual date. I find Fizz Weather much more useful in this area, although its radar is not up to snuff. I would also like to see an inches option for the barometer, but kudos on the barometer trend arrow.I really want to love this app but find myself using the combination of Fizz Weather and RadarScope much more. At this point I find it hard to justify MyWeather for the current price being charged. I'm hopefully that subsequent updates will change my view.I also find it interesting that any review which remotely criticizes this app ends up with a higher ratio of "users didn't find this review helpful" votes even though they go into great detail to outline their criticisms, while very short reviews that praise the app get high "helpful" votes.
Very pretty but flawed! By: Funkdefino - Dec 28, 2008 Version: 1.1 This app looks good enough to eat, but the forecast is usually wrong or vague. In addition updates are few and far between especialy for such an expensive application. I personally would like my money back since it is vertualy useless... I never use the app because it never tells me the correct weather. The radar is very slow and the information is often not current.
So much potential... By: insekta - Dec 28, 2008 Version: 1.1 I'm revising my review, due some recent changes. I think this app has great potential, but it still lacks what I consider an essential, which is an alert system for severe weather. I like the new features recently added that provide more in-depth detail of the conditions, and while the radar is slow-loading for me, others don't always have that problem, so it may be device-specific. It's getting there, but it's still a little pricey for where it stands as of yet.
Always wrong!! By: Mike31763 - Dec 23, 2008 Version: 1.1 Not sure where the info comes from for this app, but it is consitantly wrong!! Please fix this app! As it is.. It's completly useless. Can I have my 10 bucks back??
Dissapointed. By: FebruaryXVI - Dec 22, 2008 Version: 1.1 I'm a huge weather fanatic, and I waited until there was an update before I purchased this.
If I would have bought this at a store I would have returned it.
I have 7 cities on my list, most of the time between 1-3 of them will not update. The pressure is in wrong format. And overall info refresh is very slow. And as stated, for $15 you would think at a minimum the icons during night and day would be accurate.
For $15 this app has a much higher bar to reach.
Value is Relative By: SavannahSnake - Dec 22, 2008 Version: 1.1 You can certainly spend less and get other apps which do one or two things that this does. No other I've tried does it all. I'm satisfied with the purcase.
Good app but ... By: Get a life please - Dec 22, 2008 Version: 1.1 Forecasts are so inaccurate it's worthless. Where on earth does this app get it's weather information from. It's never right. Radar is the only good thing about it. Use the weather channel app ... For free, if you want to know the weather.
Nice Radar By: Tru3 Blu3 AL - Dec 21, 2008 Version: 1.1 The app looks nice and provides some nice info. But I use this in conjunction with the weather channel app. The forcasts on this are a joke, to say the least, but the radar is awesome and the trend thing can be helpful. Overall, a solid app, just needs some more accurate info.
THE LIGHTS ARE ON - BUT NO ONE IS THERE... By: LancerOne - Dec 20, 2008 Version: 1.1 I’m terribly disappointed in this I’m terribly disappointed in this application. Its all about the interface and looks, but no substance when it comes to the amount of locations one can enter. I can get more locations with the original iPhone weather application than I can with this. Including cities and towns around the world - for example Sydney. They need to update this application desperately to include many more towns. For example I would like to see Big Sky, MT, and others.Their web site is terrible in that there is no way to contact them. Why should the rest of the world have to be a separate application. They need to get their act together!
Decent app. By: AnAppUser - Dec 19, 2008 Version: 1.1 Pretty good app. Here's some draw backs, and they aren't really drawbacks, but when compared to the other apps they are. First, you can see a multi-day forecast, but not all at once, you can only see 3 at a time, and you have to scroll to see the rest. That's the biggest drawback. The weather channel app, you can see 10 days at a glance. Fizz weather you can see 5 days at a glance. Second, it only supports US cities, no international cities. For my iphone budget, I would get the standard weather map that came with your iphone, the The Weather Channel app, and FizzWeather. The Weather Channel is free and has videos. Fizzweather has animated maps just like MyWeather, international cities, cooler graphics, and manages to display the same information in a less cluttered fashion.
Nice, but disappointing By: Argelius1 - Dec 18, 2008 Version: 1.1 I bought this app, realizing at $10 it would be my most expensive purchase. I'll resist the urge to address the cost-benefit ratio other than saying for this price, it should offer much more. The "trend" graphs are great an unique and probably the best part of this app. And it's cool they respond to the portrait-landscape orientation of the phone. My main complaint: You are stuck with "My Weather" as the description of your local forecast. Perhaps this is just a personal preference, but with 3 locations listed, I'd rather than them listed as "Chicago, Palm Springs, and New York", rather than "My Weather, Palm Springs, and New York".
Works well but too expensive. By: KelchM - Dec 16, 2008 Version: 1.1 I've bought this and fizweather now. I like this more than fizweather but it's not perfect either. The most anoying thing is that it is so slow to load data.
Best weather app!!! By: Tellustuff - Dec 16, 2008 Version: 1.1 So far, this app is the best and most useful weather app on iPhone. I highly recommend it to any weather enthusiast. :-)
Great start. Bring the cities. Bring NOAA By: Indiejeep - Dec 14, 2008 Version: 1.1 This app has a great interface and look. Great moving radar.
Needs more features and cities for the price. Hasn't been updated in a long time.
You are not able to find cities anywhere near many locations. That's kinds important!
Weather data is not very detailed and it does not incorperate NOAA weather alerts.
Full screen radar By: drichard12 - Dec 14, 2008 Version: 1.1 Is GREAT! You can zoom in or out for better viewing. The trends view is also GREAT giving the wind direction and time of temp. change. Great program for those that travel.
Awesome Live Virtual Earth Radar! By: JSpence80 - Dec 14, 2008 Version: 1.4 This app has a great live radar, and I like it putting cities you look up on the map. I downloaded it to track Gustav, and have from city to city watching the eye move from landfall to inland. Some improvements would make it better however like being able to stop and step through the animation to be able to locate areas easier without the animation getting in the way when zoomed in. Also allow the ability to change the opacity of the weather to be able to read city names. Also the program frequently crashes when in full screen mode of the radar. Lastly, there should be more detailed forecasts for the selected cities for that day and the coming days; like chance of rain, wind gusts & direction, humidity, heat index, etc. More like the forecasts and stats of "weatherbug". Given the live radar with virtual earth (definite plus), the high price given the bugs (minus) and vague forecasts (minus), I would give this app 3 stars.
Great weather app By: MeDiAgNoMe - Dec 12, 2008 Version: 1.4 Excellent source for all of your weather needs. I really enjoy the full screen animated weather map. Must have for anyone who needs to know what the weather is going to do.
