Best Weather App By: FeMan - Aug 13, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 MyWeather Mobile is a great weather app. I am not sure why so many people are having stability issues, but mine does not crash and is very stable. I love the radar, and I find it works best if you just rotate the iPhone horizontally to go directly to the radar, as opposed to selecting the little radar view and then rotating. Future enhancements are supposed to fix things like having a persistent radar view so you don't have to zoom in every time, and opacity, so you can see what is under the dark red and green echos. One of the best things about this app is that the customer support. I have personally sent Email with bug reports and feature requests to the developers, and they always reply back, and I believe they are working to make this an outstanding product, as they know when you pay $15, you expect a lot (vs. many of the other cheaper apps).I think future enhancements will make this an outstanding program (as it is already a very very good program), and I look forward to them coming out.
Nice interface, great potential -- terrible app By: TheOrganist - Aug 13, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 Subject just about says it all. The major problems are: 1) The updates are considerably behind real time, so the information is inaccurate; 2) the program is extremely prone to quit, particularly if getting updates from the Edge network (it quit 5 times out of 5 tries this morning while I was using the Edge network). I'm hoping this app will improve eventually, and justify the $15 I paid for it.
Very buggy, crashes frequently By: blueridge2008 - Aug 13, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 I am surprised at some of the good reviews. I purchased this application for the looping radar. However, about 5 seconds after switching the radar from portrait to landscape mode it crashes every time. I am hoping for an update that will fix this. In the absence of an update this will have been a real waste of money on an overpriced weather program.
Great interface. Inaccurate weather. By: Law&Order - Aug 13, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 I like the interface and feature of this weather app better than all the others. Also has radar. But it often seems that the weather prediction is purely random. It is off as much as 10 degrees for anything more than 2 days. According to this application, the weather in our area is always going to be 10 degrees cooler in 3 days (Always). But it never happens. The weather predictions vary in the same amount from the regular weather app that comes with the Iphone.
Buggy By: BoboRama101 - Aug 12, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 I try to run the app, but it reboots every single time. The best I've had it up and running is about 10 seconds. This appears to be the buggiest app I've downloaded from the App Store to date, and the quickest waste of $15.......Oh well, live and learn.
Best Weather App By: mikey1299 - Aug 12, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 This is the weather app to have. Don't let the price talk you into inferior apps. Skip a couple of Starbucks, it is definitely worth it.The interactive radar in MS Virtual Earth is perfect for checking out where it is raining while you’re on the go. If the radar at the bottom is too small, turn it sideways and instantly you have a full screen animated radar with the ability to zone in to street level. The MyWeather forecast and current conditions are great for getting the forecast and current conditions anywhere you are using the gps. It really makes it my weather. The graphs are easy to read and interactive. I like that you can add your own locations as well to track the weather anywhere you'd like. The cherry on top of this app is the service they provide. I don't know of any other company that will respond personally to emails with questions or suggestions like they have.
I am so pleased with Wind forecast By: Josh Crews - Aug 12, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 The radar is great. But the main thing I've wanted is to see hourly wind forecasts to know if we should go sailing on the lake. I know that's a niche market, but I wanted to express how well this meets that desire. How the wind feature works is that under "Trend" you can side scroll through temperature, precipitation and wind. It graphs the windspeed over the rest of the day and shows the direction if you click on that hour.
Great weather app! By: lynam_design - Aug 12, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 I was unsure whether this app would be worth the price, but it is great. Nice interface, multiple locations, animated radar that switches to full screen when in landscape view, trend views for temp, percipitation, and wind. Very nice.
Weather app is good but expensive By: macsaretooexpensive - Aug 12, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 Aug 11 2008What I like:Looping radar in this app is the best I’ve found by far on any iPhone weather app. That’s the only reason I plunked down $15. You can zoom in on the map (MS Virtual Earth) to neighborhood level. Uses accelerometer for an even sweeter view in landscape mode. Colors on animated map are fantastic. You get about 7 frames of animation. I’ve compared My Weather radar images to those on a laptop with high speed broadband connection and the entire animation is pretty close! Uses the GPS locator to provide forecast for your current location. Overall display is very clean, crisp, colorful. Can switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius. What I would like:Lower price (surely an opportunity for competiors)Graph with hourly precipitation probabilityFunctionality outside the USTime stamp on the radar framesContinuously updated radar frames or perhaps a button to update the radar. MyWeather Mobile website says, ”followed Apple’s guidelines, one of which is to limit network activity. The application would quickly drain your iPhone’s/iPod’s battery if we were to constantly poll for data.” To get a fresh set of radar frames, “you have to quit MyWeather and relaunch it.” That’s a nuisance if you’ve zoomed in. As for the battery drain concern … take a number. Most of the fun stuff on this phone drains the undersized battery. Nearby chargers are a fact of life until Apple gets the battery capacity straightened out.Would have given this app 5 stars were it not for the high price tag.
Best weather app on iTunes - I've tried them all By: Wrinkledpants - Aug 11, 2008 Version: 1.5 My educational background is in weather, and while this may be irrelevant, I think it's important to know that my standards for a good weather app may be higher than the average user. I have been looking for a weather app that had detailed weather information, loopable radar, and a great user interface. I have the original iPhone, and even with the triangulation of cellular antennas in a rural area, it still quickly finds my local weather information. It's also great to have a landscape loopable radar that is zoomable to nationwide. The description of fast loading is accurate and this radar loop loads quicker than any other product I've used on iTunes (I've used them all). It's also great that the weather graph shows sky conditions, temps, wind, and precip amounts (rare for an iPhone weather app). This is all displayed in a beautiful format that iPhone users come to expect. I'm not a fan of paying for my weather information as there are numerous sites where you can get the same information for free, but this program is well worth the money. It loads quickly, it works as advertised, and it looks awesome. I sent an email to the company offering a few suggestions and quickly received a response indicating a lot of my suggestions, as well as others', were in the works and will be released in a later version. Not often you receive that kind of response and enthusiasm from a company, and subsequently, it lead to me giving it a 5 star rating. While it's not overly obvious, this product was created from an already well established weather firm (I had to dig for this info and am not sure if they wanted to advertise that or not, so I'm not going to list them). I believe this product is going to evolve into a much more robust product, and that is what lead me to give it such high marks.
The best By: Austin is cool - Aug 11, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 I think this is the best weather app out there. But a bit pricy
Nice App, but forecasts are not accurate By: Staub81 - Aug 11, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 Great looking app. Unfortunately the weather forecasts are really inaccurate. I live in a major metropolitan area and the forecasted highs are up to 10 degrees off compared to other major weather forecasts.Love everything else about the app, just wish it used another weather information provider.
WOW By: TannersHeart - Aug 10, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 Awesome friggin app!! Well worth the money!! Will be very usefull while on vacation!!
Best weather app! By: Dgrif622 - Aug 10, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 It may be a little pricey but definitely the best weather app. The map loops are great.
Best Weather App There Is! By: iJohnw - Aug 10, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 This is def the best weather app I have seen! The radar is beautiful with full motion! That is the biggest reason I decided to download it! I can't wait for them to continue to develop this great app!
Nice radar loops... By: flkeys - Aug 10, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 But needs lots more to justify the price.
Radar loop start/stop times.
Current actual wind speed and direction
Forecast winds for at least 48-72 hours.
Better current condition reports. Not so accurate.
Alerts
Tide predictions would be cool.
Overall as a weather app it's weak but the radar loops are what this app is about.
Good, but overpriced! By: Vanman82 - Aug 10, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 Nice app with good data, but $15 ... Come on. I would have expected more meat!
Love the radar! By: Smitha96 - Aug 9, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 I finally figured out that to get full screen radar you have to turn your iPhone/iPod sideways. I'm dumb. But once I figured that out I loved the radar and the detail it brings.
It'd be nice to have a few more options like turning off the satillite view. I'm also surprised the developer didn't go with google maps which is just so much more familiar. The ability to turn off the radar loop would be nice too.
Very nice quality By: saxsmith7 - Aug 9, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 This an example of what it looks like when someone has software chops. Easily the cleanest designed app on my iPhone. I, too, look forward to it's future refinements. Hoping for email alerts and barometric pressure in the trends area is it possible to store zoom settings?
Worth the price By: Chob - Aug 9, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 Worth the price because I can actually see what's happening on the map with the animation. I do wish you could add places from outside the US and it would be nice to see a detailed forecast/dew point and humidity...but Weather Bug is free and easy to click on for that.
AWESOME By: johnson123456789 - Aug 8, 2008 Version: 1.0.2 This is a very very good app for all your weather needs and I love the animated weather it is totally worth the $15!!!
