Reviews:
They Nailed the UI By: BonzosDad - Apr 1, 2009 Version: 1.4 Best user interface of all the weather apps. They nailed it. (sunrise/sunset would be nice).
Heads up it WORKS GREAT! By: Cold Brew - Mar 30, 2009 Version: 1.4 Turn the phone to the side and it will find you!! (Using Radar) . Great update! Thanks!
Simply the best. By: Artie2 - Mar 29, 2009 Version: 1.4 Pick radar and hold iphone horizontally to get big full screen radar map in motion.
Really nice interface, but no access to weather alerts By: App Sponge - Mar 29, 2009 Version: 1.4 I was very happy I bought this for the first few weeks I had it. Then the weather turned severe and there was no indication on this application that problems were coming. In my area, this is a real negative. It does show the radar map, but you don't know that you need to look at it without the alert notice. On the plus side, it has a very attractive and polished user interface. It's nice to look at and nice to use. You can monitor current conditions in several areas of your choice, and the more complete information that is there for the current site is nicely presented. Trends are easy to see. If I had realized that severe weather alerts weren't available, I probably wouldn't have paid for it. But I do recommend it to those who may not need to worry about severe weather very often.Add notice of severe weather alerts and I'm back in a flash. For now, this application is in storage.
Ripped Off By: MatthewStorm - Mar 28, 2009 Version: 1.4 I paid $9.99 for this. Where's my $3 refund?
location problem By: mejj - Mar 26, 2009 Version: 1.4 First of all I LOVE this app, & have used it many times when we were in different parts of the country in bad weather & found it very useful!! However, with the most recent download when I try to view Kailua, HI it shows me a radar of the midewest for some reason, but when I turn the iPhone sideways for a larger view I do get Kailua. Please adjust settings somewhere people to get it all back in order. Thanks!!
A bit off in terms of temp By: angstboater - Mar 24, 2009 Version: 1.4 This app seems to report temps roughly 10 degrees cooler than what is actually observed. This has been the case all over the southeast US. Fantastic interface and graphics, but the data is what is really important... Hence the 2-star rating.
Best for Weather... but still needs some more... By: bmcvey - Mar 24, 2009 Version: 1.4 I'm a huge fan of this app and use it often, but I'd like to see possibly a few more things done in the future to really rev up the app or use some of the amazing power of the iPhone. I'm aware that Push Notifications are coming down the line as well as weather warnings, but listed below are a few additional ideas.Suggestions:- Ditch the Microsoft Maps for Google Maps API for iPhone OS 3.0- Save/Store the cities' temp, conditions, detailed info, forecast and trends (for limited Internet access reasons)- Save/Store the last viewed Radar loop (for limited Internet access reasons)- Horizontal Forecast View (to compliment the views of Trends and Radar)- Weather Alert and Warnings displayed on the radar map (possibly an optional layer)- Video weather forecasts (either a National one only or based on your location)- Localized audio forecasts as another way to connect valid weather content (or NOAA feed)- Custom color scheme (for those that want a different color schemes for the interface)- One final item is for Apple to allow app changing of the home screen icon... it would be much nicer to allow the icon to change depending on the current weather for the top listed location in your listing (if a thunderstorm is barreling through your location you'd see the icon change on the home screen)
Finally found my weather By: Bobywob - Mar 23, 2009 Version: 1.4 New update: I've been a faithful user since it was 15 dollars and I just freaked out for a but cause I lost the GPS functionality in this ap. The developers should have explained where it went in their text for the ap. Select the "i" button to make a new city and when it asks you for the city name, select the GPS icon net to the search box. That will bring back "my weather" and also your original radar zoom from Kansas as I was seeing. Whew.
UPDATE:Wow. The update to this ap is incredible. The GPS is updated, though not in real-time, but I can still see the radar on top of my location map. That is awesome. The tilt to the side to get bigger maps and stats makes this tons better than Fizz or any other weather aps I've paid for. Thanks for listening.
I really expected this so to do a whole lot more than it does to justify it's cost over the other weather maps. I always say that you get what you pay for. Go for the more expensive APS, they'll be worth it. Not this one. Says it uses GPS to locate the weather in your area, but it only checks your location once; the day you first load it. I've had this ap for thee weeks now, it's checked my location one time. I drive 60 miles to work a day and it has plenty opportunity to check. Also I'd like more GPS functionality. Google maps has the moving GPS where you can watch your little blue dot drive down the road... I'd like to see radar there so I know what I'm driving into or perhaps away from. I know this can be done. I use the fizz ap now for my weather outlook and current conditions and if I want to look at a really small but zoomable radar, I'll try this one. I'll be happy to change my review when I believe the price is justified.
Not worth the price By: Captain7 - Mar 22, 2009 Version: 1.4 Not worth the money. Nice app but over priced. I would not waste your money until this app becomes more cutomizable. Just my 2 cents.
Great By: scannerboy - Mar 22, 2009 Version: 1.4 This is a great app and is worth the price. Fells like it was designed by apple. But it does not support alerts.
Nice app, just not accurate By: AggieFrog - Mar 21, 2009 Version: 1.3 This is a nice app as far as usability is concerned, but the weather forecasts are unreliable in my experience (6+ months of use)... It may be more accurate in other parts of the country but is unreliable here in Dallas-Fort Worth Texas.
With the v1.4 release, this is better than any other weather app. By: saint george - Mar 21, 2009 Version: 1.4 With the v1.4 release, the MyWeather folks have produced a beautifuly designed, very intuitive application that provides more data than any other weather app I have found (and I have tried at least 5-6). That includes radar and the like. The only nit still remaining is that the app only covers US locations, so if you are located outside the US or if you travel to places like Canada, you can't rely on this app. But other than that, this app is perfect in almost every way.
The best By: ✰GUARD YA BRAiN✰ - Mar 21, 2009 Version: 1.4 Best radar you can get on the appstore.. Enough said buy buy buy!
very nice app, keeps getting better By: Bob(OH) - Mar 21, 2009 Version: 1.4 Very useful first screen, wth several cities, plus 3 days of forecast. Swiping at the bottom to see the forecast for a longer period is a nice touch. I love the sideways trend graphs -- great use of the wide screen, and swiping to see 2 additional screens keeps the same UI and is easy to use. The new "tap a vertical line" is easier for me to use than having to touch the (relatively small) time at the bttom. One minor issue -- I really didn't understand that the bottom temp was the dew point even with the word "Dew" under it -- I thought that was the lower temp for later in the night and "Dew" was some sort of forecast info. How about a label of "Temp" next to the temp and "Dew Pt" next to the Dew Point? The radar loop is good but on the first (vertical) screen it seems way too zoomed out and isn't centered on my location.
Best weather app By: Fly n abe - Mar 20, 2009 Version: 1.4 I bought this app because of the animated radar loop but found the 36 hr trend graphs the most often used feature. I was reluctant to spend the money but this is the one app i use everyday. The chance of precipitation was a nice addition too. Since I will typically use this app for only one city, I wish the I had the option to open the app to the Current Conditions page/display instead of the list of cities. Despite this minor compaint it's a great app.
Needs to improve By: That's fine, just fine - Mar 20, 2009 Version: 1.4 I purchased this when it was $15, and I have to say I feel a tad bit ripped off. Given what some of the free weather apps offer, I would expect to see severe weather alerts at the very least by now. And as has been noted by other reviewers, the forecasts are sometimes wildly inaccurate. Please fix this problem and add alerts. I will say that it has improved immeasurably since I purchased it, and I'm hopeful that these problems will be fixed. The radar is COMPLETELY awesome, and far above and beyond what you will find in any other app..if you are a radar junkie, that alone might make this worth it's current purchase price. The forecast trend graphs are also very nice, and the addition of percipitation probabability percentage is a welcome update. It is very pretty and again, the radar is WONDERFUL. But again, fix the accuracy problem and add alerts. I would also like to see lightning strike maps available, I don't know why I can't seem to find an app that offers these.
excellent program for a biker By: squeazle - Mar 20, 2009 Version: 1.4 This is one big reason why I got an iPhone. I wanted to be able to access a live radar in motion weather map while traveling on my motorcycle across the country. Tells you where the rain is, brother! This program delivers and more. I can plug in towns along my projected route, and it shows me what weather to expect up the road. Brilliant piece of work!
What happened By: Texashchman - Mar 20, 2009 Version: 1.4 After update it can't find me. I also have the gps on.
What happened?? By: JHawk8 - Mar 20, 2009 Version: 1.4 I bought this app when it first came out. It WAS the best app here becouse it found my location whenever I was. I just downloaded the new "fix". Now it cant locate me??? Come on guys. I paid twice the price when I first bought it. And yes, my location GPS is on. Maps can find me just fine.
Fabulous radar! Needs one little thing.. By: Tamanzi - Mar 18, 2009 Version: 1.3 This is a fabulous application for those, who like my husband, have work where rain can be a disastrous event, and you need to know how close it may be. Although there have been a few other promising apps that deliver pretty well in that area -- none matches the MyWeather Mobile. The trends for temperature, rain chances and wind speed are top-notch as well. The ONLY improvement that I would like to see -- where this app is lacking in relation to other weather apps -- is the addition of a detailed forecast when one clicks on a day in the forecast window. Hope it's on the improvement agenda. Other than that -- outstanding job!
