Fun app - One improvement needed By: KateW - Jul 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 This is a fun little app and the interface is very nice. The shake feature is addictive. It couldn't find my location, even though I'm in a supported neighborhood. I do like the fact that I can manually select my location — but I wish the application would remember the setting, so I don't have re-select it every time.
Doesn't work. By: Fire_Convoy - Jul 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 Crashes when it starts pulling in local data.
Localization is too specific By: randy_byers - Jul 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 Love the idea but more control would be better. Would be better if you could lock-in a particular radius from your current location, rather than just a specific region of town. In my case, they break the metropolitan area of Research Triangle Park into about 15 distinct regions and you can either search all of them or 1 of them. Other combinations cannot be performed.
Only one suggestion By: akohan - Jul 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 Great little app overall, very intuitive and straightforward. It will definitely be more useful close to home than while traveling, though, since you need to know the name of the neighborhood you're close to. It'd be nice if the app would tell you not only what city you're in, but what the area is called as well.
Check available cities first! By: chasmcg - Jul 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 Go to the Urban Spoon website before you download. If your location is not one of the supported cities, this app will crash on launch.
Coolest Iphone app so far By: freezer71 - Jul 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 I love this app. Its very accurate and it will come in handy when traveling the US. Its so hard to find a good Indian restaurant
Doesn't let you fully spin... By: NJPitcher - Jul 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 So if you lock one of the three characteristics then it works fine, but if you leave all three options unlocked then it tells you it "can't find any more locations like that," potentially overwhelmed by the choices? I don't know, but it works well when you lock either one or two characteristics.
GREAT IF YOU LIVE IN THE RIGHT PLACE... By: TREYBERT - Jul 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 SO FAR every time I try to fetch my cities data the app quits. It works great if you live in one of the 52 cities already programmed in. I'm not going to delete this app yet hoping that it will be able to find my city in the future without quitting the app.
Very Creative and Fun By: greg_k - Jul 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 This is a really fun app. It's been the (free) app that's gotten the most oohs and ahhs when I showed it to people.
Fun and Helpful By: W. Thomas - Jul 11, 2008 Version: 1.0 This is a great and fun app to help in a group and everyone says, "I don't care, where do you want to eat?" Nice use of iPhone technologies.
Great concept By: Fauxpasonics - Jul 10, 2008 Version: 1.0 This is an awesome concept that I have never seen before, great job!! Keep up the great work and keep adding more resturants.
Brilliant! By: sulciphur - Jul 10, 2008 Version: 1.0 I hate trying to come up with places to eat, especially in my home area where I know, and am sick of, all the restaurants. Urbanspoon takes all the decision-making stress away: just shake and go eat! Love it.
Help for the indecisive By: BlueNRedTiger - Jul 10, 2008 Version: 1.0 A great way to pick a place for dinner when no one feels like making a decision. Great software engineering, hopefully the list of locales will be expanded soon.
Hilarious, simple, fun. By: daveledangeroux - Jul 10, 2008 Version: 1.0 I just used this app to go grab lunch. It came up with a restaurant that I knew (and like) but I can't wait to make new discoveries. The application "just works" -- it feels and behaves exactly like you expect it will. And the fun of shaking and running a little slot machine to figure out where to eat... well, that's the kind of goofy joy I'd hope to find on the iPhone!I wish I could pick a few different "neighborhoods" near me rather than either randomly choose between all of them or lock it down to one. The Mission and the Haight aren't that far away from one another, after all!
I love it By: Nathan Craddock - Jul 10, 2008 Version: 1.0 There's tons of little restaurants around me and I have a hard time deciding or even knowing which to try out. Love the shaking aspect, makes it fun and feels kind of like a magic 8-ball. My favorite fun app.
Very fun, useful app By: bcm3117 - Jul 10, 2008 Version: 1.0 I love this. I can't wait to use it. They have accurate information and the app is really fun and easy to use.
Brilliant By: iTea bt - Jul 10, 2008 Version: 1.0 Great use of localization / neighborhoods to refine search results. Very well played.
