Reviews:
Very, very good -- but... By: Baranger - Mar 8, 2009 Version: 1.0.53 ...it takes too long to load. Hey, you have already sold me the game so what's the point of a 15-second splash screen? Five shakes of a lamb's tail is plenty.I always play against the computer. Quick Play mode makes it too easy for me to win and the difficult custom mode always destroys me, usually by coming up with so many 7-letter words that the bonus points alone are higher than my game total. How about a sliding scale of difficulty that I can tweak until I'm able to win half the time? But the UI is great, and I have no other complaints except that my battery life seems to suffer. Not sure why.
Two Small Requests By: 04EBJ - Mar 26, 2009 Version: 1.1.88 I love this app and play all the time, but wish there was a "Speed Scrabble" option in "Game Type" that limits how long players get for each turn. Would also be great if you could substitute "player 1" and "player 2" for your actual names and save stats according to names.
Great App with FB, just allow silent start! By: CurtJ - Mar 27, 2009 Version: 1.1.88 This has been a great app. The Facebook Connect feature allows me to keep up with my Facebook games on my iPhone. I only wish that you could disable the startup music. I have tried everything, and the music still plays loudly! Please fix and earn the 5th star!
Great, No Teacher Feature for iPod! By: G0316 - Mar 31, 2009 Version: 1.1.88 This is a great app with good graphics, easy-to-use interface, and cool features. However, the teacher feature option that is listed in the product description is exclusively for the iPhone, and not the iPod touch! I own an iPod touch, and I want to become an ace like the iPhone users!
Good game By: Anonymous41909 - Apr 5, 2009 Version: 1.1.88 Update:4/2009Facebook connect makes this awesome. Only downside is the sound when opening the app. No way to shut it off. Which means I can't open the game in boring meetings. ------------But definitely not worth even the sale price, unless EA fixes the issues that have been raised on the review board.FIX THE INTO SOUND AND ALLOW IPOD USE. THE DICTIONARY IS REALLY BIZZARE.
Great Classic! but slow start up By: bak momma - Apr 13, 2009 Version: 1.1.88 Great game. Gave 4 stars only cuz start up can be a bit slow. One of my true faves!
New update was great By: Jokeal - Apr 22, 2009 Version: 1.1.88 The latest update fixed my biggest dislike, not being able to play my music while playing the game! However, now I am unable to exchange tiles, it shows up but I can't push the OK button- please fix and 5 stars are yours.
Quibbles By: Madperry - Apr 26, 2009 Version: 1.1.88 I love this app. Sound at startup is unforgiveable...who tested this? Also, dragging a tile to top always ends up closing app. Normal difficulty is too easy and hard is really hard. I use all my best words on the diff setting to compensate for computer having personal dictionary and computer. Would be nice if facebook feature allowed you to play anyone, not just friends. Very happy overall with app. Any fan of scrabble will love it!
Oh but for that splash sceen By: M-LAD - Jul 14, 2008 Version: 1.0.20 As everyone is saying it's pretty good for round one. Please lose the eternal splash screen that comes on every single time you leave the app and must be watched. Also I'd love a learner's mode where it could hint you throughout and define words as well as a competitive mode without help.Great start though.
Pretty good, except for the crashes By: jwcardinal11 - Jul 13, 2008 Version: 1.0.20 It's great to be able to play Scrabble on the go. This app is much better than the previous mobile version, with better graphics and better statistics tracking. But it does crash occasionally and it doesn't have an alphabetical sorter for your racks. Otherwise, it's a very good app!
P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N By: VirtualMonkey - Jul 13, 2008 Version: 1.0.20 This is a great game. Worth the cash. Developed very well. We love the pass it along game. Would be great if it had online multiplayer. That is why it gets 4 instead of 5.
ADD ONLINE SUPPORT!!!! By: B Dalton - Jul 13, 2008 Version: 1.0.20 Add online support and have SMS alerts so you know when its your turn or maybe just have the app alert you. THEN and only then will I give this game a 5. Other than that one glaring omission this a perfect game.
Pretty Good By: rackmaster - Jul 13, 2008 Version: 1.0.20 Pretty good SCRABBLE engine. Needs the option to use tourney lexicon(s) (TWL and/or SOWPODS). No timer feature. Free Challenge rule (i.e., you get to go again if you play a phoney).
Well worth it By: Fani Rama - Jul 13, 2008 Version: 1.0.20 I like Scrabble but wasn't sure of this one. However, I decided to go ahead and buy it even though it was $10. I think the game is pretty good and definitely one of the best games for the iPhone. Its a static board so won't give you headaches in a train with more motion. You can shake the iphone to shuffle the board, call on the computer for the best word or try and recall words. All in all, its nice. However, $10 is a bit too much as it is now Xbox Live Arcade price. I think iPhone games should be no more than $5. Perhaps $7 max. But still, this game was worth it. I would recommend it as a buy.
Solid app. Overpriced By: diVit - Jul 15, 2008 Version: 1.0.20 Works well and feels just like normal scrabble. While multiplayer is currently pass-n-play, EA announced wireless multiplayer later this year, along with a feature where you shake your iPhone/iPod Touch to scramble your letters, delivered in an update. Yay! I think it should be 5 or 8 bucks instead of the 10 they are charging now. It'll be worth the 10 dollars once they add those features I mentioned. The current price is my only quibble with it. Otherwise it is a solid app. Hope this helps!
Very good, but not there yet By: CherylG4 - Jul 22, 2008 Version: 1.0.20 This will be a fantastic app if they can improve some things:• Why'd they change the colors of the squares on the board? Green? Orange? Red is for triple word, pink is a double word, etc. Why confuse long-time players?• The splash screen has got to go.• The music is awful — why would I want to listen to the same techno loop over and over? Let me listen to my own songs while playing if I want to.• When a new custom game is started, you have to input the options every time — why doesn't it remember the game you just played?
good but not all the way there yet By: upright Seattleite - Aug 8, 2008 Version: 1.0.26 Some necessary improvements:Add options to turn off game sound (including at start-up) and/or listen to the iPod while playing.Add option to see definitions of words.Add option to use real scrabble dictionary.Add a level between medium and hard, the former is too easy, the latter too hard.Add a counter for how many points the tiles I have just played will score this turn. The display is too Las Vegas for my taste, but I can live with that.Let's get these improvements in the next update!
Stable for me By: iXian - Sep 5, 2008 Version: 1.0.26 9/4/2008 -- I haven't had any problems with stability -- the app has a great interface and works well for me. One feature I miss from other pass-n-play versions is the ability to play words not in the dictionary, and to allow opponents to challenge words with verification against the built-or external dictionary (mutual agreement). Please add this feature!
Intensely fun By: Nick Gerakines - Sep 11, 2008 Version: 1.0.53 This application is a lot of fun. They game play for multiple players is really nice and it's become a staple of lunch entertainment with friends.
Dictionary? By: Slicknut - Sep 15, 2008 Version: 1.0.26 I'd pay more for a "deluxe version" that featured a dictionary to define some of the funky words the computer uses - would make the game educational. Also, I'd still love a version you could play over the phone with a friend.
It stands the test of time. By: dxseth - Sep 24, 2008 Version: 1.0.53 I've had this game since it came out with the APP Store and it is the only game I continue to play. I wasn't even a big Scrabble fan, but now I can honestly say I am! The layout on this is solid, and the most recent update tweaks the game for the better. If you are thinking about buying this game or not, I can for one say it seems to never get old. Afterall, it is a CLASSIC
