I live in the north east - to experiment, I looked up bars, restaurants etc near me. There's no excuse for getting different Newcastles mixed up nor for directions to places via the map function supposedly on my street which clearly don't exist. How could this be relied upon when I might need it for something urgent?

No stars. I should have realized it was terrible when I easily got a reservation at the last moment .Waiter was fine I think he knew this was classic NYC rip off. Food was poorly prepared, portions were beyond skimpy.

Missing generated user content. This app relies on user submitted reviews. The fact that it's popular in the States means it's useful! We need to make it popular here too so recommend it to your friends and start reviewing local places!

Best App, bar none. Combines the best of local search, google map and user reviews of loal businesses, services, apartments, restaurants, along with a fast search capability to identify everything else you can't remember. Yelp is social networking at its best. San Diego Yelp rocks.

more reviews=more content, so the ability to add reviews from iphone would be good for everyone! Google maps integration (ie adding a location to/searching reviews on Yelp from Google Maps Listing) would be helpful as well. Useful, and potential to be more so.

May work ok if you if you live in a city centre, otherwise it's laughably innacurate. I tried it out searching for a petrol station and was directed to one 20 miles away when there are 2 within 5 miles. Oh, and apparantly the area I live in has no bars, restaurants, coffee shops or hotels. I don't remember moving to Antarctica! Locl is much better.

Good app, but... - needs more CDN content - the ability to add places to you like to your iphone contacts - you can't write reviews from the iPhone, only read reviews - an easier account signup (why do they need to know my postal code, gender, birthday) for me to leave reviews?

So, I'm standing outside the San Carlo, one of the premier Italian restaurants in Birmingham. GPS is working so I ask Yelp for 'restaurants near me'. No sign of the San Carlo on the first page (#1 - #20) .. several restaurants on this page are nearly 1.0 km away. San Carlo is on the 4th page, list number #69 and #70, 0.0 km from me. I like the ability to do reviews, the info is good but what should be its distinguishing characteristics on the iPhone .. the ability to match the database to the GPS and a map, is let down by a sort algorithm that seems based on the number of stars a review has (and if there are no reviews the sort just gives up). Would be nice to sort by 'distance from me'. THEN it would be a really good app.

This app is great because it's so comprehensive. You can even look up nearby hospitals! One thing that would make this PERFECT though, is to add a Free Wi-Fi search category. Please please please.

Good app but not much in there for Canadian businesses yet. And you should be able to write reviews without having to go onto the website. Other than that... It works great

This app is massive in the states. The only problem is that they took too long to release it here so competitors have a large share of the market. This is clearly the best app of it's type but it needs more people to write reviews. What are you waiting for?
