Reviews:
Not the best By: dalyman - Mar 26, 2009 Version: 1.4 I really like the idea behind this application though I would not pay for it. It needs a little more thought.
Great App By: Eliovi - Mar 26, 2009 Version: 1.4 First, I used on my imac, now is linked to my iphone.
Impressive By: Dirk_Gently - Mar 24, 2009 Version: 1.4 I got 1Password as part of this year's macheist. I must say that other than a small issue of the desktop version not picking up the app, that was easily fixed because of opening my computer firewall, i was able to sync perfectly. Great tool for people on the go.
EDIT: (01.23.09)
i had to change my rating up one star, absolutely excellent.
Edit: (03.23.09)
Just gave some feedback about desktop and mobile version, they were very responsive. Works perfectly on both fronts. I am very pleased.
Great app! By: ourside - Mar 23, 2009 Version: 1.4 I have used several similar applications and have found this one to be the most comprehensive and the most secure. The integration between the desktop and the iPhone app is excellent!
Pretty decent companion to desktop app but plenty of room for improvements By: JailerJoe - Mar 23, 2009 Version: 1.4 My biggest issue with the iPhone version is that you can't enter wallet items from your phone. Wallet items are synced from your desktop to the iPhone but I can't figure a way to add them from your phone. The layout of the app is a little goofy as well. You have the main "Add" screen where you can add login items, notes or 1Password generated passwords. On the second screen is the the sync mechanism. On the third is actually saved/synced logins and then next is the Wallet (which as previously explained you can only view not add or edit). Lastly you have the More screen which lists Notes, Passwords and Settings. A more logical layout, at least for me, would be for all the different entry types be on one screen: Wallet, Notes, Logins & Passwords. You could then edit or add new ones from this same screen. Having your Notes and Passwords grouped with the Settings on the More screen is just plain confusing. I won't even mention that the iPhone version of 1Password won't let you enter Identities. That's the other big missing feature. I'd also love to see more customization of Wallet items (assuming adding/editing is added to the iPhone app) for things like safe combos, security codes, etc. Agile has built in a bunch of nice templates for other types of info but maybe adding a generic or user customizable template would be the way to go.Hopefully Agile is working on some of these issues. They're very responsive so I have high hopes of them bringing parity with the desktop version to the phone app.
Needs work (v 1.4) By: r3dsh1ft - Mar 20, 2009 Version: 1.4 Since the original Mac app is great, I'll start this one with five stars. Subtract stars for each of the following:
No updates since July 2008: -1 star
No autofill of username/pwd: -1 star
Lacks Safari integration: -1 star
An outstanding app, a real lifesaver! By: maxrkul - Mar 18, 2009 Version: 1.4 This app when used in conjunction with the desktop app is an easy way to keep your passwords safe. I especially like the strong password generator, that when used together with the autosubmit feature saves quite a lot of keystrokes while boosting your security.
Increible aplicación By: Streamhawk - Mar 18, 2009 Version: 1.4 Con su contra parte en la mac hacen una combinación mortal.
Great App By: MaxM7 - Mar 18, 2009 Version: 1.4 Litlle hard to learn, Once you figure it out saves loads of time logging in on both Mac and iPhone.Hav not figured out how to make sync work
Be damn careful By: Hard lesson 2 learn - Mar 17, 2009 Version: 1.4 I love the app. Just be damn careful to back everything up. I went in the mac store to get my mobile me fixed and the damn guy wiped out all my apps including this one that had all passwords! Learn from me. Back up, then back up your back up.
Best app for both iPhone & OSX By: Jefe Blaize - Mar 14, 2009 Version: 1.4 Could have had 5 stars if only:
• One could delete saved Password types (just as you can w/ Logins & Notes)
• Passwords could be nicely organized into useful categories like better apps for the iPhone, such as Lockbox (free) & PasswordWallet (also free).
1Password developers: Please fix these items!
The only reason this app is remotely this handy is soley due to how amazingly useful the OSX app is (& the syncing btwn the two apps; why install another app when I'm already using 1Password?)
Great By: FlbdldgjxsjkoHs18 - Mar 14, 2009 Version: 1.4 When I got my Iphone I was worried that I wouldn't be able to keep my e mail account private so I'm glad that I got this app
Keeps my stuff private By: z3ro146 - Mar 11, 2009 Version: 1.4 Ever since I got this app I can have a secure place to write down any private information that is 100% secure
Great potential, useless without autofill By: Cory32786862 - Mar 11, 2009 Version: 1.4 I've been playing around with the desktop software, which works great. I went and changed a bunch of passwords on various services to 20+ character super strong passwords. The problem is that with passwords this random and long, its not practical to fill in these passwords any other way other than autofill. On the iPhone, since there's no copy/paste function, autofill is not an option. As a workaround, they built a built-in browser, which just plain doesn't work. Hopefully they can sort this out but for now this a killer for me adopting this software.
Works for me By: Im52643 - Mar 9, 2009 Version: 1.4 It's a nice and simple program that does exactly what I need... store passwords and private data in a simple format. I havent had any problems using it. It is what it is... not bad for a free application. :)
eh By: Lovelybird12345679965 - Mar 8, 2009 Version: 1.4 Its okay
Also disappointed By: password user - Mar 8, 2009 Version: 1.4 Like a previous reviewer, who found using agile's web browser to be a pain. I agree. Also, when I sync there is no way to control the flow of data. Finally, again during sync, I get prompted for way to many allow keychain to do this and that.
Very good By: Ghsvecnsfvfs - Mar 7, 2009 Version: 1.4 Need to add letters on and off for the genorator.
Awesome product By: Winx - Mar 4, 2009 Version: 1.4 I am very pleased with 1Password.First, it meets a great need to keep my passwords safe and remember them for me on my Macs and my iPhone.Second, the value is unbelievable. The family pack is great.Third, the constant development is awesome. I downloaded Safari 4 today and noticed my beloved 1P icon was missing. The dreaded realization that Safari was beta and I'd have to wait for 1Password to catch up. The wonderful realization hit me that the folks at Agile are always on top of things (like when the iPhone came out) so I checked for an updated. Doh, they already had Safari 4 support! What can I say? I have been an Apple owner since the Apple ][. This is one of the best investments I've ever made in software and a company.
good one By: tennisss - Mar 4, 2009 Version: 1.4 maybe some better images?
Too Many Taps By: Dtjdetjgsrui - Mar 3, 2009 Version: 1.4 This App fills a need, but it could use a lot of improvement. I use it primarily to log into password-protected websites.
If you are trying to simplify logins, you need less finger taps between opening the App and being logged in. It's hardly any easier than a manual login the way it's set up. I can think of ways to eliminate at least three finger taps from the process without losing any functionality. This would be helpful.
Another drawback is the way 1password keeps putting my login information on the screen during login. I don't need to see my password every time I log in. And I don't want other people nearby to see it easier. If I get distracted during login, the username and password will remain on screen until I remember to tap the "X." This is very insecure.
Finally, the App is a bit buggy and it crashes or freezes fairly often.
If the shortcomings I mentioned were addressed I would surely raise my rating.
