Shows what you can do in IOS By: drword - Apr 5, 2011 Version: 3.5.1.5 This is one of my favorite apps. I have an older iPod Touch. Before ShinKanji, in order to look up a Chinese character, I had to go through a laborious process of figuring out what the radical was, then counting the strokes, then going through a fat book. Another app, Kotoba, lets me look up parts of kanji, but only Shinkanji lets me just draw it on the screen. When I'm in Japan, or trying to read Japanese, I can just draw a kanji and find its meaning, pronunciation, and the compounds in which it occurs. There were a couple of hiccups in the last few weeks where it would crash, but Benoit fixed the problem as soon as it was brought to his attention, for which I commend him. This is one of the apps I use to convince people to buy an iPod Touch or an iPhone.
A highly useable reference tool By: Round-up - 23-Oct-2010 Version: 3.4.3.0 This is a kanji reference tool - not a Japanese dictionary.I live in Japan and have intermediate level Japanese, based on good formal study of the basics. I use this app to quickly write unknown kanji with my finger and find readings and meanings. This is usually enough for me fill in gaps in my reading comprehension. For me, intuiting stroke order is not a problem, and the app interprets my scrawls very charitably. Miles better than the iOS Chinese keyboard.I do not want flash cards; I want a reference tool to complement a 和英 dictionary. This is it.(Add in a detailed offline graphology - like on kanjinetworks.com, e.g. - and I'll pay twice and give you 6 stars.)(Using iPod Touch 4G)
Straordinaria. By: Rick970 - 18-feb-2011 Version: 3.4.3.0 Un database infinito, interfaccia complessa ma intuitiva. Davvero utile. Vale 10 volte di piú il suo prezzo. Super!
Bestes Kanji Lexikon By: Thymolblau - 02.06.2009 Version: 3.0.0.15 Gut gemacht, Strichfolge wird animiert und man sich selbst in der Eingabe prüfen. Sehr schönes Programm.
Excellent By: Trespassers Will - 12-Feb-2010 Version: 3.2.0.18 First I downloaded the free lite version of this software. The lite version is very good, but lacks proper search functions or a facility for writing kanji on the screen. The full version is great. Great database, great search functions, easy to make your own lists of kanji, and it has a screen for writing the kanji. The writing screen is one of the search functions, so when you draw the kanji on the screen, if you do it well, the top choice is the one you were trying to write. If you mess it up, the kanji you were trying to write comes lower on the list. It is a great way to test your memory and your writing skill. This new version is faster than the old version and has a clearer animation for the kanji strokes. All in all a lovely piece of software. Thanks.
Génial By: TresContent - 15 nov.

Excellent ! By: xfr - 7 oct. 2009 Version: 3.0.1.27 Une application très bien faite et très complète. Je m'en sers tout le temps lors de mes séjours au Japon.
handwritten kanji recognition excellence By: moomoochoo - 16-Dec-2008 Version: 3.0.0.14 This program has its own kanji writing recognition keypad which is much bigger than the native iphone interface. After you draw a kanji you get a lot of possible matches. If kanji recognition is important to you and your having trouble with the native iphone interface then I recommend this program. I just wish I could use the written kanji input interface with other programs, that would make this so much sweeter. Many thanks to the programmer!
