Updated review: Bug fixes really improve on the original release

My original review gave only three stars and suggested that the free version actually seemed better at the time unless one really needed the continuous memory.In the weeks that have followed RLM has really been prompt with improving on this release. The touch pad is much improved, and new attractive features have been added, including the the ability to save and recall program memory into separate files.On top of it all, the free version is no longer free, and has been hobbled in some ways.This is now well worth the price for fans of the original calculator, especially given that RLM is tossing in their desktop simulator for free--itself a 16 buck value.Along with the several other excellent HP calc simulators in the AppStore (e.g., i41cxp and the various Voyageur simulators by Tom Fors), this is "must have" for anyone who loves vintage HP RPN computing. RLM really deserves a lot of credit for prompt attention to bugs and rapid turnaround time--Ricardo has always replied to me promptly whenever I have had questions and concerns.

Danke, wirklich perfekt gemacht. Hatte anfangs die kostenlose Version genutzt, die Mehrfunktionen (u. a. dauerhafter Speicher) und regelmäßige Updates rechtfertigen den Preis der Vollversion. Schön wäre noch eine Sprachausgabe wie bei der PC-Version. Ist aber auch so jeden Cent wert.

This is by far the best and most mature RPN calculator for the iPhone / iPod touch. There are still a few bugs and it needs to be super optimized (keys sluggish at times) but I am sure it soon will be the ultimate HP RPN simulator around.

不揮発性メモリーをクリアする為のコマンド、ー(マイナスキー)を押したままONキーを押してONキーを先に放す。そうすると、液晶に(pr error)と表示して、リセットされる仕様が正しくエミュレートされていないようです。良くできているだけに玉にきずな感じです。つぎのアップデートに期待します。

Looks just as the original HP, but the cash flow calculations are wrong. Avoid until fixed. I am using Calc-12E instead.

Attention, cette version n'est pas fiable : j'ai repéré plusieurs bugs dont le plus gros concerne la touche n qui ne fonctionne pas correctement : il est impossible de trouver le nombre de périodes de composition d'intérêts. Plutôt gênant quand on a acheté cette application pour faire des calculs financiers .... Donc pour l'instant, il vaut mieux s'abstenir !!

DO NOT BUY THIS APP.This calculator *used* to be decent--a few bugs, but decent nonetheless--before the version posted on Dec. 21, 2010. As numerous reviewers have already noted, the update basically broke the app for everyone. The developer has been notified multiple times by multiple parties (including me), with no response whatsoever.DO NOT SUPPORT DEVELOPERS THAT IGNORE THEIR CUSTOMERS.R.L.M., you should be ashamed of yourself. You are basically cheating your customers. Apple, you should remove deadbeat developers like this and ban their apps from the App Store forever. It reflects poorly on the user experience.To sum it up: This app and its developer are a great big #FAIL.UPDATE 2011-03-16: App updated as of Mar. 14 and it's *still* broken! Either this developer doesn't read his reviews or he's a complete idiot. DO NOT BUY THIS APP.

I erred when I said this did everything an HP 12C did. There are certain obscure calculations, handled correctly by a real 12C or 17B, which this calculator gets wrong. For the great majority of users and calculations, this will not matter but if your life depends upon it then the calculations should be verified.I am writing to the author to point this out and hope to see a fix before long.

As I use the real 12C for my work, I was very pleased when it started showing up on the app store. This is my favorite version on the iphone. At first the response was extremely slow, to the point it wasn't worth using, but that has long since been fixed. Love it!

Tolle Idee und in der Praxis wirklich nützlich. Ich lasse meinen HP Rechner oft zu Hause und nehm den Ipod Touch. Ein Haken ist dabei. Diese Version 2.1.1 gibt keine Tastentöne wieder, da eben kein Lautsprecher da ist, über Kopfhörer sind die Töne da. Ich hoffe, dass eine neue Version kommt, in der die elektronischen Tastentöne generiert werden wie bei anderen Programmen im Ipod Touch. Mit den Tönen wären es von mir fünf Sterne.

I follow all of the instructions in the HP manual to the letter, and it still comes up with an error when I try and calculate the annual interest rate. Waste of time.

En achetant l'appli, le financier que je suis s'attendait d'abord à avoir une réplique fidèle du modèle original. Sur ce plan, l'objectif est atteint. Je n'ai pas de contre exemple où j'ai pu prendre en défaut l'appli. Seul bémol qui ne tient pas aux développeurs : la taille un peu moins pratique des touches. Vivement le futur iphone avec écran agrandi ! Sur le plan de l'affichage, la possibilité d'utiliser le mode portrait n'apporte rien de plus et modifie les habitudes prises.Le portage sur iphone apporte par contre des fonctions supplémentaires de programmation, d'enregistrement. Et le calcul est plus rapide. Sur 3GS, le chargement de l'appli est tellement rapide que la publicité du développeur est très fugace...C'est parfait pour un prix divisé par 20 par rapport à l'original.Note : le complément indispensable de l'appli est le manuel original de l'hp12c, à télécharger sur le site d'hp.
