I am no novice when it comes to VoIP, Skype, and other IM apps, as well as some of the technologies behind them.The fring application itself seems to be a good app and should theoretically do the job of connecting me to my Skype and SIP accounts and allowing me to make calls using these services over WiFi. It doesn't, however. I've so far lost count of the number of times that it's crashed (it crashed 4 times while trying to set myself up a fring account) and numerous times while trying to add in Skype and SIP details.I think that it is this requirement for a (to me) useless fring account that causes the problems - the application doesn't seem to be able to log in to the fring servers most of the time, and without being able to do this (and there's no reason the developers have made this a requirement other than perhaps to use for future marketing or pay-services? call me cynical if you wish) it doesn't seem able to log in to the Skype services and SIP service that I use, and so to me the application itself is useless. Half the time, the app even crashes at this login attempt, and the other half of the time just sits there.It's a real shame and I hope that a better version may come along.

die Verzögerung ist mit 500ms relativ hoch und der Codec klingt selbst via WLAN etwas knarzig. Kein Wunder, denn laut fring-webside werden nur erstaunlich geringe 2,22kB/s benötigt! Das sollte dann sogar für ein VoIP via GPRS ausreichen. (Ähem, hatte Apple bzw. die Telekom nicht was gegen VoIP?)Bei der Registrierung scheint die Email-Adresse unwichtig zu sein. Zuerst meckert das Programm bei mir, dass meine reguläre Email-Adresse angeblich falsch sei (stimmt aber nicht) und als ich aus versehen wegen der Rechtschreibprüfung des iPhones eine falsche eingab, lief die Registrierung durch. Huch? Wie kann ich nun diese falsche Email-Adresse korrigieren? Na scheint wohl egal zu sein, denn das Programm läuft trotzdem problemlos.NACHTRAG: GPRS und UMTS sind softwaremäßig gesperrt, so dass man das Programm nur via WLAN nutzen kann. Fragt sich aber, ob es vielleicht doch über die t-mobile Hotspots funktioniert?

One of my favorite chat apps for the iPhone, but you still can't make VoIP calls to Windows Live Messenger 2009 contacts. Push notification doesn't work yet, as far as I can tell either. Needs work -- please!

This is one app that does both MSN and SKYPE. Which makes it pretty great. - I used Skype Out from a hotel to call home for pennies. The only thing I don't like is how it looks. The main contacts screen should give clearer information and show which network each contact is on.I am hoping that notification services is going to make this even more useful.

Ich nutze es nur für voip und skype, die chat funktionen find ich unübersichtlich, das Interface sogar teilweise nervig. Da hat palringo die Nase vorn.

Fring is a brill app I love it and what's more it's freeeee! A suggestion for improvement would be to add ability to change personal message, see peoples display pics and choose between theme colours cuz I don't like green much :) Absolutely brill though, never crashes and is quick and simple to use.

Logiciel permettant d'utiliser le SIP et donc la VOIP .. Testé et approuvé. Ca marche très bien pour les appels vers l'international depuis la France ! ( et gratuitement .. principe du SIP ;) )Foncez !

A little slow, and it signs me in and out about 5 times when I begin using it. Also there us no logout button. Does it log me out when I go back to the home screen? Or run in the background? It's not bad, I reccomend it. And it's free.

Echt Super app Nur leider schade das es keine Möglichkeit gibt an den iPod Touch der 1 Gen ein Mikrofon anzuschließen. Aber ansonsten Super app.

I'm still trying other IM apps, there are a lot of them now. And Fring is nice, the interface is good (a few bugs still) and push notification works well. But you can't type in landscape. Who wants to chat in portrait only?

Impossible de se connecter via les bornes Freephonie. Le logiciel nécessite obligatoirement une connexion vers le serveur Fring pour fonctionner, chose impossible avec les connexions Freephonie. => Intérêt très limité donc.Validez nous SIPHON v2 !!!!

Seems like it does not work on iphone 3G. So disappointed.When I tried to make a call through Skype, it is just said that "Voice is not available with 3G connection type". Am I right ?
