Awsome app By: Coffeerush - Jan 7, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 If you are lucky like me some of your friends have touchs it is like a mini cell phone if you have the microphone!!!
Great idea so so execution By: LA JENN - Jan 7, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 Keep at it though. With a bit of polish this could be a great app. Nice to have all my chats in one interface. That interface is pretty clunky though. Contacts info is very weak. Skype works maybe 1% of the time. Google talk never works. No Bluetooth handsfree support.
Email By: josezerr - Jan 7, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 For those with problem with there email just skip it and leave it blank you just won't have no were to retrieve password if lost
Tester By: Ifonar - Jan 7, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 Freezes iphone
Awsome buy By: Dropkyker - Jan 7, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 Awsome I have a itouch and bought a mic and now I can talk it's the best
No documentation whatsoever By: Mr. Brian - Jan 6, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 Fring doesn't bother telling you you have to use the international code before the area code. IOW, use 001 before the area code in the US. I have heard of weak documentation before, but please, can't they take 2 seconds to put this crucial fact online? I had to read it in the comments here. Thanks for that, btw.So, to call a US number, just put 001 before the area code and number. No punctuation or delay code is needed. Works great, if you get far enough to figure this out ON YOUR OWN. I know no one likes to write documentation, but it IS IMPORTANT sometimes!
Skypeout better than nothing By: weevilgenius - Jan 6, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 The Skypeout functionality could really use a touch-tone keypad after placing the call. As it stands, you cannot navigate any automated menues once connected. Also, a speakerphone function would be appreciated.
cannot login to msn messenger By: xcutcd - Jan 6, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 so far im the only one who couldnt sign in to msn.. wonder why... works on other product similiar to fring.
Very good app By: Ilybrittany - Jan 6, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 I have an iPod touch and I use voipcheap just to make an account then use that info to login on voipcheap. Great app clear as my cell phone!
Good fringing app. By: Jduxpoi - Jan 6, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 It's a great app. I keep AIM, MSN, YAHOO, SKYPE, GOOGLE contacts and even added SIP. It works just fine. But now the ads are getting annoying. I understand that it's free and such but placement of the ads?? It's right where I type a message on AIM, and so, I touch the ads all the fringing time, app closes and opens up a browser. It's okay, put a fringin ad in there but don't fringing force us to click on one. Move it to the side, or above. Not fringing right next to a text box to type a message. Fringing annoying.
But overall, great app with awesome features.
Awful. By: xxrandomxx - Jan 6, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 This app needs a lot of work. First of all, it makes you log in every time that you load the app and it takes quite a while to do this. It also lacks a remember me function at the login screen. I do not like how it combines all of the buddy lists because all it does is make things more confusing. The calling feature does not work how it should. Ugh. Awful experience. I would not wish this much trouble on anyone.
Good overall app By: Dom9360 - Jan 6, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 It's free. I use this with Skype over WiFi. Fring cannot use EDGE/3G because AT&T prohibits this in the TOS. "Unlimted Internet" is not really unlimited; no carrier can truely make this claim. If VoIP were available over 3G/EDGE then what would be the point of using the cell service to begin with? Besides, who talks on the phone so much? Get a life. :-)
Please Fix By: RWin10 - Jan 5, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 To Developers: I know this review is long but it is really important. It includes evaluations and constructive criticism. Not rambling complaints.
To Users/Reviewers: Please look through this review before reviewing to see if what you plan to mention in your review is already here. To see specificly what this app includes that may not be in the description, skip to the list at the bottom of the review.
==============================
I had a 1st Gen iPod Touch and it worked fine. I updated to a 2nd Gen iPod Touch to use the mic, but now no matter what i'm doing the app will freeze after half a minute of use. Other than that, it is the best social networking app ever!
==============================
Here is a list of improvments to make it COMPLETLY PERFECT! Not all improvments are needed. Only ones with a star(*) are essental or have been repeatadly requested. (The ons with two stars(**) are the MOST IMPORTAINT.) The rest are just suggestions to improve this already near-perfect application.
** 1) Fix half-minute launch crashing as stated above. (If anyone knows what's wrong, please post.)
2) Sort/Seperate contacts by service.
* 3) Add landscape mode for chatting.
* 4) Add ability to remove contacts other than just Fring Users.
* 5) Stay signed on when exiting app.
6) Add ability to group your internal contacts. (The ones you use in the 'Phone' app on iPhone or 'Contacts' app on the iPod-Touch.) This feature would be great as it is not included in the iPhone/iPod-Touch OS.
7) Change app's homescreen icon to look more similar to the iPhone's 'Phone' app icon so as to visually fit in more with the homescreen.
==============================
Now to wrap up this review with the specific awsome things this app DOES have.
1) Included services:
(Sorry if I missed any)
• Email (Full integration with 'Mail' app.)
• AIM (Chat Only)
• Yahoo Messenger (Chat Only)
• Google Talk (Chat Only)
• Skype!!!
• ICO
• MSN (Chat Only)
• SIP (Multiple SIP Services)
(For FREE calls to US Cell phones and LAN-Line phones, I strongly suggest "Voip Stunt"!)
• MySpace (I Think)
2) Full support for iPhone headset when connected to iPod Touch 2nd Gen.
(NOT 1st Gen!!)
(Headsets can be found at either an Apple store or AT&T store.)
3) Ability for multiple chat sessions. (Voice Calls do not have this ability.)
4) Regular contacts are automaticly imported and displayed along with IM Buddies.

I appreciate your patiance in reading this. I know it was long but every bit of it was informative. No rambling or complaining. Thank you so much for your time.
Cool By: Tshuffle - Jan 5, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 It works fine so you can call people
Awesome  By: ← - Jan 5, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 Love it!
4-starz? By: JonathanRN - Jan 5, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 Would give this app 5 stars but I have some issues. It won't sign on to my AIM account. Also I think it should separate the different buddylists so they arent all ran together.
Usability needs improvement By: 8 years of proof - Jan 5, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 Skype over my computer works excellent so there should be no reason that this can't work as good. It is the only app that supports skype which makes it a necessity for me but I wish that you could stay logged on so you don't have to wait two mins to make a phone call. Otherwise good app
Dosent work much By: Wsox - Jan 4, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 It only worked a couple of times
Awesome By: Greg 123456789 - Jan 4, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 I havn't had any problems yet. Works perfectly.
Good. By: Jenny907 - Jan 4, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 I used to love fring and didn't have any complaints. Now there is an ad on the bottom that gets in the way. Plus it would be nice to be able to change my status to invisible. But other than those 2 things... It works fine and it's free.
Awesome By: Tdod - Jan 4, 2009 Version: 1.0.2.4 Totaly worth it
