Essential for nursing students

The free app is good, but like all free apps is sparse. I upgraded to Nursing Central with Skyscape and it's incredible. I have Davis's Drug Guide (no more lugging around the book during clinical’s). That application has everything including implications, interactions, adverse affects and much more. It also comes with lab, diagnostic, disease, nursing process considerations and Taber's. I absolutely love the program and ALL the information I needs is at my fingertips. It made and continues to make a huge difference in my studies. Now that I have it, I don't know how I managed without it. I strongly recommend upgrading the program. I have looked at various programs and think they’re the best, Skyscape that is, but there are others e.g. Unbound.

I have both this and epocrates essentials, and when it comes to diseases, I find this to be more inclusive and possibly more detailed than epocrates... and it was FREE. I don't like the interface quite as much, but it isn't just about the looks. This is a great reference. Five stars.

The skyscape app is great by iteself it helps so much in the clinical setting. My teacher even asks me to look things up for her. I purchased the labs 360 and davis drug guide on the skyscape website they are easy to install and way worth every penny. I would have rather bought this app then bought the book! I wish it was cheaper but it is worth whatever they charge.

A Scam Against iPhone Users!

I have found this app to be the best for quick medical data. It works great, but I was informed by one of Skyscape's salesmen that medical references for the iPhone are subscription based. That means each book must be purchased anually in order to continue using it. I never had to do that with my Pocket PC or my Palm devices. WHAT A SCAM PLAYED AGAINST IPHONE USERS!!!!!

What is going on? You do not own the material but lease it? Sky scape has to listen to us, medstudents I may look for other sources like isilo if this does not change. We should own the book we buy.

ADDENDUM: THIS PROBLEM HAS NOW BEEN CORRECTED- THANKS. The BMI calculator for under age 18 is handy, however it misleads by labeling any BMI at or under the cutoff for normal as "normal" even when the BMI indicates the child or adolescent is underweight, even dangerously so. Although obesity is a widespread public health problem, there are youngsters with eating disorders, failure to thrive, or other conditions resulting in abnormally low BMI. This is a serious error that should be corrected as soon as possible.

I find the Skyscape Medical Apps are very useful and they have the largest portfolio of content available for each medical specialty, nurses and students. The iPhone apps now have a choice of Standard versions which do not expire. Yooo Hooo.. Their free Archimedes calculator has many more calculators than some of the paid products. My son has Skyscape apps on a Blackberry and found that the Skyscape app on the iPhone was much easier to get and navigate. Its probably the design of the iPhone where everything seems so much simpler..

Finally standard option for iPhone!

To be fair you can buy other reference books (even Davis Drug Guide) on skyscape's website. Then upload it to the skyscape reader. But, like I have already said, I would rather it be an individual app and I don't like the look.

I LOVE SKYSCAPE! Just one little suggestion: Please, add "units" to the appropriate calculators (IV infusion rate calculator, dosing calculator, etc.) --that would be awesome.

The free app looks good, but I was shocked to hear that they would charge so much for the software and then have the whole thing expire after one year. I know of no other field besides the medical field where this type of nonsense (expensive software that expires) occurs, and this has certainly jaded me from purchasing their iphone product. At least books don't expire and their information stays useful for at least a few years....

Seriously a one year subscription for all iPhone users? Totally unacceptable business practice especially when users of other platforms have the choice to pay once and continue to use the product without updates...another question is what if these products dont have any updates? With skyscape on the iphone you might as well look at it as having a hole in your pocket that you'll keep throwing money into....

I have been waiting now since the day iphones came out for these apps. I bought 3 of the anesthesia ones and they work FASTER on my iphone than they did on my dell axim x51v!I am stoked and impressed!

like most iphone apps, it is slow to launch but once opened it is great.

it's still the iphone so it's sluggish compared to the palm, but once you (finally: often 6 seconds or more) get the app opened it is great. i was able to add the davis drug guide and it's complete (unlike the weak version for blackberry) and has a nice interface. i'm just using it for fun so it's fine. if i had to use this for serious work then the slow to respond nature of this app would drive me crazy. not sure how much of that is skyscape's fault vs apple since ALL my apps have at least a 3 second delay.
