I'm running Mac OSX 10.5 and VLC 0.9.8 and I'm having no problems so far. This app is exactly what I have been looking for. I was using a couple different programs that used the iPhone as a mouse but this is amazing. I have my laptop hooked up to my TV and I can control it from the couch. I can browse my computer and select files to play. I love it.

Sure it can browse, but for some reason VLC can't play anything when the file paths are missing \'s.This app will rock when it is working I'm sure, but for now don't pay for broken software :(

I set everything up and just like another reviewer I get the first screen and then everything hangs and crashes. I want to use this, any solutions??? Anybody? Bueller?

If you're charging money for one single feature, you should probably make sure it works. The only thing this has that the free version doesn't is file browsing, and the file browsing feature simply doesn't work. I am not able to open files from this app using Windows. VLC has a built-in web interface that you can use on your iPhone.

Setup was fast and simple, interface is near perfect and latency between iPhone and Computer is surprisingly short! All in all, this is worth the dollar, you'll definitely enjoy it if you watch Movies/TV on your Mac!

Got this because I was having a problem with the free version from the same developer (it could see my VLC, so I knew that it worked, but there were issues for some reason), works just as advertised. As others have stated, it could use some UI work and I've had a couple of problems with browsing (once you're in one file, for instance "Videos", you can't backtrack, i.e. go back to a higher file menu-you have to exit the app entirely), which is why I only gave it a 4 out of 5, but overall it was well worth my $.99. Works quite well with Linux as well.

Easy setup with very useful access to your media library. The controls are simple and intuitive and I'm sure that we can only expect more from future updates. Get it while it's cheap, man.

I have 4 macines in my house, one of which is a mac, 2 vista boxes and 1 xp box. Couldn't get it running on any windows box. not even the mac with boot camp!! Works on the mac (osx) perfectly, however.... so sad, i really wanted this app to work. Itunes remote works on all my machines, however... maybe the dev can borrow an api?

I downloaded the App, then downloaded and ran the VLCSetup software on my Mac and voila... nothing. I then returned to the manual instructions and found that the HTTP remote control interface had not been automatically added to VLC (v0.9.6) as promised. So I added, restarted VLC, and voila... nothing, couldn't find my Mac running VLC. I ended up adding my computer and IP (exactly as found in the Sharing SysPref) to the VLC Remote App on my iPhone and, after a couple of app crashes, it worked! Now I can be just as lazy as the developers at Hobbyist Software.

I thought this would be a cool app but it doesn't work. The app starts and displays the info screen but that's it. The buttons wouldn't work and I tried everything. It just hangs then finally closes out. Guess I'll leave this one on iTunes just in case they fix the problem but it's coming off my phone until then.
