By far the best calorie counter and weight loss tracker out there. It almost makes dieting fun! Huge data base, very user friendly -- even has cute food icons. Also tracks nutrients if desired.

Makes a chore easy

I like many reviewers hated tracking calories. But this app makes it so easy, I no longer have an excuse. If it does not have the food I'm looking for, I just look it up on line and add it myself. It's really not that complicated, and the app remembers my additions.

Best meal tracker on the iPhone. Add photo recognition of food or nutritional info.
Really well done!!

I really love this app. While I expect some improvements, it is currently doing a great job of keeping me honest. However, I do wish that it would track your daily nutrients better. It would be great to have some type of sync to a website as well. Also PLEASE! Why can't I find a simple skinless, boneless, chicken breast in the database?? This pretty much is a staple of any fitness and healthy eating program. Bizarre! Easy enough to add it but strange it wouldn't be there. Of course the price is amazing!! WELL DONE!!
I am very impressed with this app

I highly recommend this app. Using look and feel common to many iPhone apps, this program really does make it easy to log your calories, exercise, cholesterol, sodium, and other important items. As you log and watch what you eat, you see the results and why they happen. It reinforces a healthy lifestyle and teaches you the actual truth about bad foods and habits, all at once. I am a very busy lawyer, father of 2 and caregiver to an elder, and I have no time for this. Yet I was able to incorporate logging into my life using this program. I have never successfully done it before. The program crashed a couple of times but no data was lost and it popped right back up. I doubt it was this app that crashed as I have this happen from time to time anyway. If you want to be on a lifetime eating and exercise program rather than a freakish temporary diet, get this app and learn to love your iPhone. I am down 8 pounds in the first couple of weeks and looking forward to using this until I reach my desired weight.
Easy to use

Finally someone came up with a full featured, easy to use and free app to help you track calories. Bravo/a to the folks at FitNow!

I used to hate food tracking. But this app makes it easy and fun! I'm always on my phone anyway, so it's way less of a pain than having to write it down or having to get on my laptop and login to some website.

Simply the Best!!!

Its the best way to keep your calories budget of all apps. This one keeps your weight, your excercises, your eaten calories and much more! Every single kind of food is right here so it will make even easier to keep watching your "budget". Tried others but ended up loving this one, its the easier one!
Cons: (that probably only apply to me) As i live in latin american (DR), sometimes i can't find local foods which is totally understandable.

I have tried other free apps for tracking exercise and dietary information they all fell short. I have been using this app now for a week and find it easy and useful to use.1) It allows you to search a wide range of foods and then remembers them for quick reference in future. It allows you to make your own recipes, which is great so you don’t have to pull all the ingredients each time you have that dish in the future. 2) The nutrient option is great. I am not an over eater; in fact I tend to not eat enough in a day, so this helps to make sure I am getting everything I need. The charts and graphs are a great way of staying on track.3) The exercise options are so many and varied that they even give you the cardio option of bedroom activity. Can’t say enough for a free app I am amazed at how good it is.

This program is awesome. It is such a good tool for losing weight. I wish that you could have two or more accounts though bc my husband would like to do it as well.

This is a brilliant app. Reading other reviews and they are spot on. Easy to use with a great database and it is so easy to add your extra's to the food database. I have downloaded a few app's for the same kind of thing and they have nothing on this one. A truely useful app - get it!
Can't believe it's FREE

After seeing this app in the store a few times I decided to download it, I love it since everything you eat is right infront of your face, and you have motovation to stay on track.

Two Less Too Bad
By: Arieliondotcom - Feb 8, 2009
This is really an excellent program, uses the native apps on the Iphone, intuitive, very nice. There are only two problems but these are fatal flaws if not fixed which is why I only gave 3 stara.
First, and the biggie, is that the calorie counts are off by as much as 25 calories & the exercises the same from manufacturers info. So you can't get accurate measures even for foods in the database unless you add them yourself. Then you must do it agaon each time (unless you eat/exercise exactly the same amount) because there are none of the adjustments available from the database. That also means you will need to reload them all whenever the software crashes or is updated. It's also eating more & more disc space on the phone.
That leads to fatal flaw 2. Lousy customer service. I wrote them a week ago with a question & never heard back. Very bad business even for a free app.
But it is free & very good. It's just a shame these fatal flaws detract from everything else.

Great little app

Since I purchased my iPhone I've had fun playing around with loads of apps but I'm truely stunned to have found one so fundamentally useful.
I've been working out and watching my diet for over 10 years and have tried unsucessfully on several occasions to discipline myself to keep a record of what I was eating, as well as the intensity of my exercise regime. I've never been able to stick at this for more than a couple days cause it's such a hassle. Then I stumbled on Lose it!
Here are the features I love about this application:
(*) A truely impressive database of foods and beverages. I was even able to find something as obscure as Whey Protein!
(*) A recipe builder. I do a lot of my own cooking and the builder let's me add my own dish and then split it into individual servings, calculating the calories and nutritional information automatically.
(*) Lose it remembers all your frequent foods and dishes so you don't have to search through the database everytime you add an item. Unless you have a wildly varying diet, using the application for a few days is sufficient to build a fairly comprehensive favourites list.
The fact that this application is free makes absolutely no sense at all.
As with all apps, there's room for improvement. Here's a couple items on my wish list for future updates:
(*) Support for metric food measurements. At the moment only imperial units are supported (although strangely the nutritional information - like the grams of fat contained - is stated in metric)
(*) As strange as it might seem, I'm actually trying to gain weight but the app won't allow a target weight which is greater than my current weight.
