Reviews:
Good program. By: CROWMD - Aug 27, 2009 Version: 1.0 Better than Epocrates when doing drug search as there is a "back" arrow. Also, has pediatric doses for kids < 2yrs. old for some of the meds.
Very nicely done! By: ereckert - Aug 27, 2009 Version: 1.0 A great app for physicians.
Good start! By: TrippMc - Aug 27, 2009 Version: 1.0 Nice first version cannot begin to anticipate next release. Hope to gain more valuable information from next version.
A useful drug and CME resource for the busy practitioner By: ARaconteur - Aug 27, 2009 Version: 1.0 The drug resource is a bit less in depth compared to Epocrates (slightly fewer topics covered, no pictures) but for having the pocket-based CME availability is a big plus for me.
Dangerous inaccuracies By: RJMMD - Aug 27, 2009 Version: 1.0 As a clinical professor in the School of Medicine at UCLA and a private practitioner, I thoroughly appreciate the potential value of a pharmaceutical database. Epocrates has served us all well in that regard. Medscape's resources would seem to offer the possibility of an advanced application along the same lines. Unfortunately, a random drug interaction sampling left me wondering whether Microsoft's legendary problems with quality control in its Windows software might have rubbed off on this iPhone product as well. The problem is that the "screen of death" (a 'fatal' computer error in Windows) can be a literally lethal outcome for a human being when it comes to factual errors about medications. Epocrates got this one right, by the way. I asked Medscape about using the most popular antidepressant combination in my field (psychopharmacology). It involves one medication for serotonin and another non-serotonin agent to provide the more activating neurotransmitters norepinephrine and dopamine. This treatment can save lives that might otherwise be at risk from the morbidity and mortality associated with depression. What did this program say about it? It wrongly stated that both medications (an SSRI plus bupropion) raised serotonin levels and that the combination was too dangerous to use.
Not knowing the difference between these classes of psychotropics is a worrisome feature. Advising against beneficial comnbinations is even moreso. Based on Microsoft's usual delay in fixing glitches, I'd recommend waiting until 2012 before risking anyone's well-being with this premature release.
Great app! By: Jeanie McDonald - Aug 26, 2009 Version: 1.0 Really good reference tool :-)
Not Nearly as much content as Epocrates! By: Dr.Guerro - Aug 25, 2009 Version: 1.0 Unfortunately Medscape is a copy of Epocrates and it's obvious. Epocrates has a lot more content and variety in their products. Medscape is missing a lot of important features such as pill pictures and an amazing variety of tools, resource centers, and news items. Medscape is only a small portion of what Epocrates is. It took them a while to get there too.
Friggin great By: Javagamal - Aug 24, 2009 Version: 1.0 Its quicker, easier to use, and more functional than Epocrates by far! The ability to save drugs you look up on a cheat sheet makes it even faster. The directory is amazing too. You can look up all 24 hr pharmacies in a zip code and get their addresses and phone numbers. Big, big help. Nice to save a directory of local specialists too. I am really really impressed and will be using this all the time now!
Better than other By: Gundruk - Aug 22, 2009 Version: 1.0 Includes the OTC drugs, which is not available for free in epocrates
Great app! By: 78rn - Aug 21, 2009 Version: 1.0 Simple to use, plenty of information. Best of all It's free!
Great First Attempt! Keep up the innovation! By: YLamica - Aug 21, 2009 Version: 1.0 This new app is fantastic. I found it really helpful! As a mother, I especially liked the drug interaction section as it is a lot more detailed and comprehensive than some online portals and I can use it on the go. I think it is a great tool the medical community because especially folks who are too busy to catch up on their continuing medical education. This is the first attempt by a great company and it will only get better. Keep up the innovation!
Good Drug database, it's easy to use and free By: YMin118 - Aug 20, 2009 Version: 1.0 Great free application!!! Very easy to navigate, also has very detailed drug monographs with dosing, contrainidications, adverse affects, etc. The drug interaction checker is easy to use and the infromation is useful when I see patients.
Works Well By: TommyG2112 - Aug 20, 2009 Version: 1.0 This app worked quite well surprisingly. Apps like this usually seem to crash a lot or don't contain the information I need quickly. I was able to get everything I was looking for quickly and it was accurate. The drug database and drug interactions is a key for myself. I am using this app multiple times per day as a quick reference and couldn't be happier.
Fine App By: DrKnowItAll - Aug 20, 2009 Version: 1.0 This app is beautiful and simple to use. Highly recommended for anyway who is looking for information quick.
Awesome By: Ashtik - Aug 20, 2009 Version: 1.0 This app beats all other Similar apps. It's faster. Much better interface.

Medscape App Review By: MMSerenity - Aug 19, 2009 Version: 1.0 Very bright, clear display, easy to navigate! I love the drug search capability at my fingertips! Results are inclusive of all areas of the drug, including drug interaction, symptoms, etc. Also has a drug interaction checker, which can be very handy when I don't have access to standard resources, also like that I can access this 24/7. Overall, quick and easy to use, nice clear typeface!
Intuitive and informative By: JMC234 - Aug 19, 2009 Version: 1.0 This application is really helpful - I love the drug interaction checker on the go! You have as much information as your pharmacist does. I'll definitely be using this quite frequently.
easy to navigate! By: dr.metsfan - Aug 19, 2009 Version: 1.0 I've tried using other apps but the Medscape one is the easiest to check drug interaction info, and obtain articles. I think this is necessary for anyone that works in healthcare that owns an iphone. Much more efficient than a PDA, and the other apps out there.
Handy app! By: NKIT - Aug 19, 2009 Version: 1.0 Great drug lookup, easy and quick to use - drug interactions...CME too.
