This Messenger application is one of the best, if not the best! It's simple and yet elegant interface is easy to the eyes and self explanitory. And yes, you can enter your own "nick name" for all your contacts. Callwave has always been very professional on all their products, and I would say they are ahead of the game. Others might offer more options but do they really work? Anyways, 5 stars and I'll be looking out for more (hopefully) Callwave products. Thumbs up!!!

Amazing, but not without its drawbacks

I'm torn between this and IM+. It seems like the two are oppisites: Every feature I like about IM+ isn't in Webmessenger, and vice versa. For instance, in WebMessenger, there is no horizontal orientation for the keyboard. This makes typing a huge pain. Also, the text entry closes each time you send a message. That gets to be really annoying really fast. I'd like the option of turning this on or off.
The good parts are awesome, though. You log in really quickly (within about 5 seconds) and only appear as "away" when you exit the app. Messages are still received when it's closed. Following hyperlinks is a nice feature as well.
I'm going to suggest a few things to the devs, and hopefully I can change the rating to 5 stars soon.

BEST free IM app in appstore! BUT, I discovered two huge misconceptions about this IM app while using it:
a) Yes, it DOES have landscape mode. You have to turn "auto-rotate" on in the settings menu to get it to work (why isn't this set to ON by default??????)
b) You CAN change the nick-names for buddies, though I found this by accident. When in a chat with a buddy, tap their name at the top, then tap "edit". You can change the nickname to anything you want from there. Seems it should have been WAY more obvious to do this.
Regardless, this has been the most reliable IM I've tried so far - now just give me PUSH!!! Are you Fuze guys hearing me????

If you give this app a low rating you are dumb, hands down this is the best free IM app out there. It's so polished it makes those other paid apps look like trash. It will keep your status as "away" when you close the app, and when you load it again it will display all your offline messeges... most of the paid apps don't do this! The Graphics and interface is top notch. It uses the iphone/touch keypad AND has landscape mode AND uses the built in spell checker! If they added push notifications or better yet add notification direclty on the toolbar (like on facebook) I would gladly be willing to pay a few bucks for this app. Best of all it's free! and has zero annoying ads.

BEST MESSENGER APP

This is deffinitly the best messenger app. I have 4 other (fring, nimbuzz, ebuddy and some other one) apps for msn and this is the only one i use. It's fast and simple and it saves a small part of your conversation which is better than nothing. The only problem is that sometimes the server isn't working so i can't connect but that normaly only lasts a day. And having push notifications would be nice but that's nothing major.

Kk people who say couldnt log in is because u have to create a webmessenger accont and when u create it you have to put in for example ur msn account. This app is brilliant its much better than goin on to ebuddy because u have to keep refreshing the page to see if u have a messege but not with this one u can see your messegers pop up!!! This is the best app on my itouch and trust me i have 4 pages i give this 5 stars as it tales seconds to download and get started. JUST A REMINDER TO SAY HAVE TO HAVE A IM+ ACCOUNT TO WORK IT!!! Kk if u dont have 1 of them just go onto www.msn.co.uk(.com) and on the top right hand side of the page it has a little hotmail box saying sign up/sign in and obviously go on the sign up bit then go from their and its free!!! I hope this helped with the confusion and i really do recommend this app really wot have u got too lose!!!

Space saving suggestions (and please do fix them - it's very important): by the way, it's the best IM I've used so far (aim, palringo, beehive, and others) - I love the transparent typing bubble ;) Please remove or figure out a way to hide the top status/username/search space-crowding panels on top - they eat up a fourth of the screen real estate that could be used for maximum display of chat dialogues/messages/list of online users, etc...

This is a great app. I am so use to using Trillian on my PC that I was desperately searching for an all in one IM client in the app store and none fit the bill too well.
This IM application has a very clean, simple and straight to the point interface. The only thing I wish it had (like the YIM app) is the ability to type in landscape but not a deal breaker by any means.
Now I can finally click one app and chat across the board.
Con - I did get a message saying "this version of Yahoo will expire" on such and such date, please go to this web address and download. Not sure what that means or hwo it will or will not impact this app.

I haven't experienced any problems. It hasn't been buggy at all and hasn't crashed. Both of which seemed to be issues with other similar IM apps. Glad to finally find one that gets the job done. Only thing I didn't like was having to register my info, but oh well. A nicer look would be nice as well and maybe some user display photos. I won't complain though, it was free. The latest update was great. You can now exit without going offline. I give it a 4 star rating now.

So far I am sticking with this app. What I like most about it is being able to exit the app but still receive messages for up to thirty mins after closing. It's free which is also awesome. Complaints: 1. Wish it had sideways orientation of the keyboard. 2. Wish I had options for the alert sound when getting messages. The current sound is not my favorite. 3. If the app is closed, a badge showing how many messages are waiting to be read. Great job over all!

good way to gather your chat accounts together

I really like being able to bring all of my chat identities together into one window. This one allows the greatest variety that I have found. I often use it rather than my laptop because the programs I have on the laptop are more limited.
I hope my company sets up the OCS option so I can contact my colleagues when I am on the road and have a quick question.
There are a few of these types of programs out there, but CallWave does it very well!

Let me start by agreeing with some of the many comments on here that state there are improvements that can be made to this app - such as the ability to utilize nicknames instead of just email addresses. However, despite some of the minor things that can be changed or added this is a great IM app. In fact, this is the first one I have come across that actually works, and well. I have no issues with signing in/out, sending receiving/messages, or anything else this app claims it can do. As a stand-in for your normal means of IM - Messenger, AIM, Google, etc - this is entirely adequate. I also enjoy the fact that I can now run an IM program straight from my iPod Touch without having to utilize an established web-based application such as eBuddy.com. I think the developers have done a great job. Now they just need to follow it up with some minor tweaks.

WebMessanger is a pretty cool little free messanger for my iPod touch. Could the makers please try and make at least one of the following updates: 1. Make a feature where you can turn the iPod/iPhone horizontal so the writing pad is bigger! 2. If possible, show other contacts avatars. 3. Able to make all new fonts and coloured writing! 4. Don't take away the awesome sounds! That's it for now! Can't wait for an update!
