In my opinion, Tweetie 2 is the best twitter client out there. No question!
Don't even think twice about spending $3 on it, because it simply works better than any other twitter app out there.
I'll just point to 3 amazing things about the App -
- speed - even faster than before which makes it so easy to flip between different views quickly
- Seamless User Experience - you feel like you're using a native app from apple (everything works exactly how you expect it to, even the hidden features)
- try the tweets near you and the translate feature - they'll definitely amaze you.
So stop your whining and just buy it already.

Ok, I was one of early complainers about having to essentially pay twice for Tweetie. But, after doing all my homework, reading release info, I decided to buy Tweetie 2. Wow, I am glad I did! Much improved, nice additional features, easily worth $2.99. Saying all that, I still really, really wish there was an upgrade price break for those of us who basically funded this development via our support and purchase of the original Tweetie. But this is really more of a flaw in the app store, as I see it. Maybe by the time Tweetie 3 comes out, we'll have the ability to purchase an upgrade at a reduced price as opposed to full price. Just my $.02...

I still love Twitterrific, but since getting used to Tweetie 2 I have a new favorite. It's well thought out UI and rich feature set makes this app easy and fun to use.BTW if you run into problems with the Shrink URL feature, I noticed that if the URL you're trying to shrink isn't beyond a certain length it'll look like Shrink URL is silently failing when in fact it's just not trying to shorten it. When your URL is long enough (not sure what that length is) it'll work fine.Not sure if it's a bug or an intended behavior, I'm just glad I figured it out. :)

This Twitter client app rocks...in fact I would not only say it is my fav Twitter interface (even over my laptop Twitter clients) but I would say it is my fav iPhone app that I have!!I would like to see theme options like before and the ability to double-tap to zoom on pics. A black background for low light conditions would be great as well.Get this app and you won't be sorry! I showed this app to a friend and he boiuht it on the spot. You won't regret picking this one up.

I had been eyeing tweetie 1 for the longest time ever! I had seen it receive such praises for it's simplicity and functionality. Just when I was about to buy tweetie I had seen that tweetie 2 was about to be released and so I waited and purchased it the day it came out. Since then I have thoroughly enjoyed using this app. I've used twitterfon and twitterific but this is by far leaps and bounds ahead of the two. Loren has put a lot of thought into the design and execution of this app and it shows! If you're eyeing this app and trying to make the jump I'd say go ahead. You won't be disappointed!

If you were a Tweetie user, upgrading is obvious. If you are using the competitors...well, what are you waiting for?
There are a few minor flaws though. The nearby tweets radius is way to confined for me. The list view may need to expand the radius for a larger range than what shows up on the default map view. I don't live in a highly populated area, but I do know that more people are tweeting locally than just myself! Also, the username picker should allow you to scroll through all of your following/followers instead of having to use the "spotlight search" to contrain your list before selecting a username. I don't think these are particularly hard fixes nor horrible bugs/UI flaws and otherwise this product meets all my needs!

After being annoyed with the first iteration of Tweetie's lack of full features, I set out on a quest to find the perfect iPhone Twitter App.
SimplyTweet: Interface to too ugly to bare, features to multidudinous to comprehend.
Twitteriffic: Ugly icon and buggy.
Twitterfon(EchoFon): I don't even want to talk about that mess right now.
The original Tweetie was really pretty, but just lacking in features. This new iteration really steps up the game for Twitter apps in terms of design, functionality and features. I think that the developer has set a new bar for iPhone social networking app development and I would even go as far as to say that this app has reached the bar that the new Facebook app has.
Great job guys at atebits! Can't wait to see what wonders you'll create for Tweeite on Mac.

There are an abundance of Twitter apps out for the iPhone and iPod touch, but none come close to delivering the flexibility and power of the Twitter platform in a simplistic concept quite like the new Tweetie 2. It's the first app of its kind to truly leverage the multi-touch user interface to navigate the Twitter environment with some potentially powerful features. Some are bickering about the developer charging for Tweetie 2 over the original Tweetie app instead of providing a free upgrade. I believe that a developer who spends tireless nights pouring into providing such a robust experience for users should absolutely deserve compensation for that work. Tweetie 2 is Twitter, reimagined.

To be honest I hated Tweetie 1 because I downloaded it at the end of it's life time so no updates were in and it was a mile behind even the worst apps out there, but now this has taken top spot for me just ahead of twittelator pro, I only hope that this time we get more upgrades keeping it up to date and ahead of the rest before the dev decides he needs more money and makes tweetie 3.And btw to anyone who has lost there avatar, I spoke to the dev and he said its a twitter problem, the workaround is use a picture that is less than 200px square then delete and reinstall tweetie. Enough talk about how they've gotten by in posting an update ... this IS NOT an update, it's an all out redevelopment of an already kickin application that beats every other one out there.
Look, I have bought and tried all the high rated Twitter App's and in the end, only one remains on my iPhone. It's simple really, why bother with the others when one does everything you could need. Well the bad news is that Tweetie has been cast off my iPhone and the GREAT news is that its been replaced with Tweetie2. Multi pic posting, vids, and so much more ...; Quite simply, it shames all the rest!
BTW: Note to developer ... I like the right side personal avatar and also request you pursue a PUSH ability.

Ok, Tweetie 1.x was one of the nicest twitter clients, and other time others were released that had minor new features, and better integration with other services, but it was still FAST and clean. Guess what? Tweetie 2 is FASTER and CLEANER! Three bucks is cheap, it's not even 3 songs anymore! And, someone has to make a living!
I love the fact that customer feedback was accepted and we now have larger fonts and more options. We can auto rotate when typing a message. Scrolling is improved. Offline Mode is actually useful, if not distracting from work. :) Oh, and the best things: MUCH MUCH MUCH better remembering of read and unread messages!! Oh, and the app fully remembers your last position when you close it. There's very few minor improvements to be made, which are expansions of just added features. :) Loving Tweetie 2!

never thought i would pay for a twitter app

I never thought, with the selection available, that I'd ever pay for a twitter app. Tweetie 2 is worth every penny. My complaint with other apps has been speed. Often I would wait for others to load and not have enough time to check more than 1 or 2 tweets, much less tweet myself. Tweetie 2 somehow gets the job done before I can even think about it. Fast, reliable, smooth interface with no hicups. Three dollars well spent.

Fantastic successor to Tweetie

This is an absolutely fantastic successor to Tweetie. Tweetie 2 is even faster and has much more functionality than the original--I especially like the ability to save multiple drafts and the glowing orbs to indicate new messages. The ap also now has full persistence--it doesn't just cache tweets, but remembers exactly how you left it when you reopen it. There are also many more intuitive shortcuts to get things done even faster. They have, however, taken away the ability to choose a "dark" theme, which is annoying as black text on a bright white background is less comfortable for me to read than the reverse. Finaly, I came across one small bug--I can't get the Safari bookmarklet to work properly. It didn't work at all until I rebooted. Now, it works insofar as it opens a compose window in Tweetie, but it puts in the full length URL instead of shortening it. From checking around online, it appears that others are also having this problem. Knowing how atebits operates, I'm sure this will be addressed soon...

I don't write a lot of reviews. I should, I suppose, especially when I really like someone's product. It doesn't take long to show my appreciation for all the hard work (blood, sweat, tears) that someone put into developing a really great app that I use all the time. Then I see some jack@ss write a review that says they paid for the app just so they could give it a 1-star review because they don't like the developer. Well, that made me write this review. It also made me tweet about it (using Tweetie 2, of course) and tell everyone I know about it. Our 5-star reviews will drown out this idiot pretty quick. But I digress from the review itself.
There isn't much left to say that most folks don't already know. This is by far the best Twitter app out there...especially if you use it with TextExpander. You get a two-fer. I've already got a few dozen snippets made up for Twitter, chat, etc. I spent 30 minutes looking thru all the different functions of Tweetie 2 and I was amazed! Aside from the "standard" stuff (# of this and that, followers, etc) you can use multiple accounts, a new OFFLINE mode, save to Instapaper, drafts, translate, etc. And, in your 'compose tweet' window, you have other choices for adding photos, videos, hashtags, short URLs, etc. It's just really amazing.
I also personally think the developer is great. He is quite responsive, and still talks to the rest of us, even though he probably woke up a millionaire the day after Tweetie 2 hit the App Store! :P
For all the people complaining about having to pay "again" who were already using Tweetie, get real. It's 3 bucks. It's less than a Happy Meal, and it makes me a whole lot happier!! You'll spend that much this week on stupid apps that you buy on impulse, try 3 times, and never play again. This app is one that will be used every single day, dozens of times a day (if not to tweet, you'll check news, see what friends are doing, etc). So, shut up, pony up the $3, then realize that it was really worth a lot more than that and smile because you got a bargain. Cheers!

I'm sure yet ANOTHER review about how well laid-out, refined, friendly, and feature-laden Tweetie 2 is won't help it sell any more copies. But maybe THIS will: Tweetie 2 has a unique feature that allows you to see nearby tweets on a map, and you can even pan and resize the map to see more. Pretty dang nifty. Can't believe you get all this, AND the developer has already written the code for features like tweet-specific geo-tagging and lists that Twitter hasn't even implemented yet. All for $3. That's less than a Chai Tea Latte. And I really like those. So that's saying a lot. I think.

Well done refresh of already great app

This new version replaces the original version of Tweetie, which was great. The new version adds numerous new features in an incredibly smooth and efficient UI redesign. Many Mac apps, let alone iPhone apps, would do well to look at the creativity that Atebits has had in building Tweetie 2. It's a great app, and now the best iPhone Twitter client, IMHO. Many have complained about having to pay for the new version. Get over yourselves. It's only $2.99!

This is easily the best twitter app available for the iphone. I understand people are upset that they have to pay $2.99 for the app for an upgrade, but this is definitely a major upgrade, and like Loren Brichter (the creator of the app) has mentioned, he would've preferred it being a free upgrade to users that bought the original tweetie, but still a paid app for those that hadn't, however it isn't something that is possible with the current scheme of the app store. I definitely feel that this is a worthy upgrade that is worth paying for. It's a very smooth program, and has a lot of nice features that make browsing tweets, typing tweets, and searching trends so much easier. I highly recommend this app!!

Since there is no 'upgrade pricing' in the app store, I can see it was a hard decision pricing this at $2.99. Regardless, I think they made the right choice. This is the developer's full time job, and the application is SO well made it's worth more than it's priced at. I'd happily pay $3 for tweetie 3, 4, 5 and so on. I'd reccomend this app to any Twitter user. It makes Twitter as a service easier and more useful, and integrates everything you'd need. Congrats, atebits, on the the best design in the app store!

Tweetie 1 was a fantastic piece of software, and was well worth it's original price. The huge improvements in speed and user interface in Tweetie 2 make it worth the same price as the old version, even for buyers of the previous version. It's no mere 'update' it's a complete revision and improvement over the original. The skewed sense of entitlement the low-raters have is a stunning display of sour grapes. It's three bucks. Skip a coffee for a morning and treat yourself to the finest Twitter client around.
