very nice and slick, loads of new emotions to use in chat. It took me a while to figure out how to sign out but if you just play around with it there are quite a few things you can do now that you couldn't do before like change profile pictures. it's very quick to send you push notifications when you leave the app. I didn't even know there was a new messenger coming out and it's a nice surprise to me. Overall I think it's worth getting, it's a lot better than most other messeging apps there are :)

I have been waiting for a great app that i can use msn messenger with, and this is it!!!!!!!I love how I can change my display pictureI  how I can add photo albums and add pictures to themI  everything about itThe app dosent stay open for only 5 seconds and it dosent crash, it's perfect!!!It works brilliantly, I go on msn for at least 60 minutes EVERY day. And this app is perfect if I dont want to turn on my laptop.I give it  !!!!No.  app!!

i have been waiting for 3 years finally !!!, the app makes windows live more like facebook than just a messenger, i love that it has just the same sounds like the pc (make me feel on a pc), please make windows live messenger for iPad that would really be amazing, iPhone is really amazing with iOS4 multitasking i can go read articles on any website and my friends nudge me (i still don't know if that work manualy or microsoft will have to update it, anyways amazing app i LOVE it,hope to see an iPad soon =)

Finally we have an official Live Messenger, as I don't want to use my password with 3rd party apps.It works great; especially making your status Away when you close the app and sending push notifications for IMs is a great feature.For those of you looking for a logout button, click on your own picture in your profile, click on Available and there you will see the logout. I don't know if there is a quicker way though.

You change your status by going to the social tab, pressing the status box at the top, then changing it.I think people dislike it because Microsoft Windows Messenger has a very good repuation. I think it's very good , with the hotmail, and how it has your actual dp you have had on the computer, but just a few things:1. Being able to change your msn name, not just having your actual name2. Being able to sign in with different statuses. E.g sign in appearing offline3. Not appearing offline when the app is minimized4. Being able to change contact settings. E.g having offline/online contacts .Other than that I love it, it's a good start.

Ok let me begin to say that everyone below this that asks about signing out or appearing offline or anything like that is dumb and should get their iPhone, iPad, iPod taken away for stupidity. Click on your little profile picture many more options appear! Isn't it amazing. Please explore the app before you yap your mouths about something that can be done but you just don't want to take the time and find out. Thank you. Other than that Great App!

This is a great official app for windows live... runs really fast and lets you use the features you are used to on the PC with regards to smilies and nudges and all that jazz :)As said by other reviews - YOU CAN set your status etc no problem, just go to social tab and tap your profile pic to access this. People saying it cant do things when it can just because they haven't played around with it enough to see is not helpful! This option is where it is, to keep everything nice and neat looking.All in all I think this is packaged really well, and expect that is can only get even better with updates.... it would be handy to be able to sort your contacts/groups from within the app as said by others..... but it does show them as how they were set on PC, so really is a minor point in a great free app IMO.5 stars from me :-)

this is most definitely the best msn app around.being able to change your dp and add different effects to it, looking at mail,whats happening atm on messenger,all the cool, funny emoticions..:)and all for FREE, what more could you ask for!?and to the person who said you cant log out all you do is go on the first option at the bottom, click on your own dp, click status, and then it says 'sign out from here' SIMPLES!1 room for improvement: be able to make group chats!:D:D<3<3

I mean seriously, you've got a easy to use app made by the company who invented msn (and the app is also free)... It may lack in the multitask ability but I don't care... My 2nd gen (now updated to the ios4) doesn't support that feature in the first place. And also i'd like to give a message to the developers of the expensive windows live msn copycats/fakes/wannabes: GET A LIFE AND STOP STEALING OUR MONEY... And as for the developers of this app: You've done a great job :)

TO THE IDIOTS who cant find the log out and cry about it. Take 5 min to search instead of looking for obvious buttons. The status chamges option IS available thru pushing ur avatar in the whats new section. Put more time into checking out an app before blastinf it like amateurs and kidsThe app tho need some sorting system. For the rest im satisfied with the product. Much better than ebuddy that un deletes old deleted contacts for no reasons!

I do have some suggestions even with a 5 star rating…1) Sort online/offline contacts as a customizable option2) Have multi-person chat3) Ability to view nicknames set for certain contacts as their display name4) Be able to see how many chat windows are open and which one you are currently at for easy movement between chatsThis is already a great app and hopefully will only get betterI give it 2 Thumbs up (especially for the tricked out emoticons!!)

Now its a great little nifty app compared to the rest i have tryed now i like this because it is microsoft thats developing it so that way they can add alot more functions and features at there leisure, I used this app for about 30 mins in total and it drained about 20% of my battery. Now i cant really grumble with that as i would only use it on the train journeys etcc.... but excessive use i can see posing a problem.

Very useful for anyone who loves using social networking and communicating with friends. this is a must have app which you can use any where which has WIFI conectivity(Wireless communication). This app is for only live and hotmail users though it gives full on the go entertainment with free chatting and emailing 24\7. You should get this app in order to have full communication with your friends and family by finding what they are doing right now and their status. Iv been looking for an im app where you can change your profile picture whilst on your iPod/iPhone for free....well this is it. U can also add photos to your profile where others can comment on them and update ur profile. U can visit anybodys profile on ur contacts list to keep up to date with them too. This is a multi funtion app tho as u can do the normal im chat with emoticons etc. For me the best feature is the ''edit ur profilepic'' as you can change the colour scheme of it too!!!......,I would definetely reccomend this to anyone with a busy social life...x

The best Messenger app I have tried ever. Full range of emotions, send nudges, change profile pic and message, brill! If I could think of a few things to change at all it would be to have a list of your custom emoticons like a laughing emoticons, a 'lol' sign whatever you have. Because it can be a bit confusing when friends say ':L' or (DD) and you have no idea what they are saying! And also:- in the chat window, where it displays your conversations, it has a time on each conversation tab. However this is the current time, whereas it should really be the time at which the last message was sent.One last possible improvement would be push notifications. When I go off the app, to perhaps go on Safari, I am not notified when I receive a reply, so I have to manually go on the MSN app, which is quite annoying. So PLEASE update with these improvements!For those who are saying there is no signout option, THERE IS. Click on your profile pic and name on the top of the Highlight screen. It will then say Available with a green box/ Away with an orange or whatever your status is. Tap on this and it will say sign out on the page.

Well i've to say it's great finally no ebuddy or any other third company messenger we can sign in with all the confidence and not just that we can share photos and view profile updates!:D it just needs to be a little more like wide screen in all views not just the chat and please please backgrounds cause in the new beta of 2010 backgrounds are also missing but i believe it's pretty cool for a start maybe in the next update will see some improvements ohh and another thing please release to Mexico it's no aavailable there yet! I've to use the US download:(

I would encourage and MSN users to get this app. Not only is it free but it works exactly like MSN on your computer, unlike E Buddy which has many limitations such as province pictures and emoticons. This app allows you to have a profile picture ad edit it as well it allows boasts and large array of emoticons. It is very easy to use. You cab disconnect it by going to social and clicking on your profile picture then click where it says available and choose sign out from here. If you want a app for MSN this is definitely the app to get.

There IS a sign out function people... You people obviously didnt bother looking for it. In fact, its located exactly same as where you find the sign out option in your pc msn messanger. If you need to be reminded, its with the status change menu! Fyi, the colours, as you'd normally see in your pc msn, indicate whether your contacts are on/offline, busy and so on. This app is so far the most convenient among all free IM apps. So stop complaining and do make the effort to look for stuff.

It's great but I was worried about not being able to log out, as my daughter often uses iPod to play games. Many thanks to the reviewers that told me how to do it. (press social, press your pic, press available and your option to sign out appears. I then unchecked remember my password, now my daughter won't see anything she shouldn't!!)To clear your chat convo, at top of screen on chat page is an edit button, press that and options to delete chat appear

Sign out on the social tab and click your profile picture, where it says available, click sign out.Try signing back in, sometimes that actually resolves a few issue.On the PC version, sign in and go to options > Security tab > and tick "This is a shared computer. Don't save my contact list or new information on it." then sign out and back in, it should work as it seemed to have worked for me.Hope that helped?- superboyian.
